Re: Video: How Nintendo Influenced My Grade School Life

KissMyFlapjack

Great video, @Ziondood! It's simply fascinating to think back on my life and realize just how much video games played a part in my growing up. How many school projects I did about games I was into at the time, and following the timeline of my life and seeing how that has informed the kinds of games I play to this day.

Re: Sword And Shield Are Now The Fourth Best-Selling Core Pokémon Games, Here's How They Rank

KissMyFlapjack

Man, I would have to be in the comment section of anything Sword/Shield related and dared to say that I actually liked the game. I suspect more people may enjoy these games than speak up for fear of having people jump down their throats.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, obviously. But for some reason, the comments about these games in particular are always pretty ugly.

Re: 3DS Sales See 73% Year-On-Year Decline, No Future Sales Forecast Provided

KissMyFlapjack

So much anger and defensiveness in these comments. No one is telling you that you have to quit playing your 3DS nor invalidate the fun you had (or still have) with it. Stating the inevitable - that the system flat out hasn't had any major meaningful support for it for over two years now isn't an insult. No one is denying the 3DS has a fantastic library of games. But when the "coming soon" page on Nintendo's website has but one or two indie titles on it (if that), it is a console that is clearly well past its prime, hence the "time' has come that the system is very much in the rear-view mirror as far as new content coming.

Certainly doesn't mean people can't still play it and enjoy it.

Re: EA Play Live Goes Digital This June - Expect World Premieres, News And Much More

KissMyFlapjack

I'm always amused at the number of people who hate EA and insist they don't want EA games on the Switch. I don't understand this way of thinking. You do realize that a good portion of the 53 million Switch owners out there don't have any idea about EA's bad blood with Nintendo and would welcome games like Madden and NHL and others on the console. Some EA games would probably sell very well on Switch, such as The Sims or Peggle/Plants vs Zombies...

It does no damage to have EA games on Switch and will likely raise its profile to see a Madden game on Switch alongside the other consoles. You don't have to get them if they do release, but I think it would be great for the system and for those who play those games and like gaming on the Switch.

Re: A Cool Animal Crossing: New Leaf Feature Might Be Coming To New Horizons

KissMyFlapjack

This comment thread is hilarious. People complaining about possible spoilers in an article whose title clearly indicates said possible spoilers will be discussed yet doesn't disclose what they will be in said title at all. Reader clicks article and is mad they read possible spoilers.

Some people like to know what could be coming. Others don't. Titles like these are beyond vague in describing what the spoiler but is clear that it is a rumor/spoiler is so it leaves it entirely up to the reader to proceed. Can't blame a website for your lack of self control.

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Sold More Digital Units In A Single Month Than Any Console Game In History

KissMyFlapjack

@geni53yr7 Orrrrrrr, there is a global pandemic going on and a lot of people probably couldn't get out to buy a physical copy. Or they were all sold out. Or people prefer the ease of having the game on the console all the time without taking up the cartridge slot.

You may own the game physically forever, but you can just as easily lose a tiny cartridge over time. Or, you won't have access to the magnitude of updates this game has planned, either. Physical games aren't the same as they used to be like in the days you reference.

Re: Feature: Super Rare Games On 2 Years Of Switch Releases And The Future Of Physical Media

KissMyFlapjack

It's too bad the "physical media" debate was injected into the title of this article - because it will probably make many people just jump to make a comment about physical vs. digital and skip over an otherwise very good interview.

It's a great read and talks about physical media from a marketing and business standpoint. It was interesting to hear from a company that specializes in them, their challenges and decision-making process during this time in technology/streaming/digital.

Re: Sonic Movie Speeds Towards $65 Million In Its North American Opening Weekend

KissMyFlapjack

I loved the Sonic movie, but I hate box office comparisons like this. Pikachu was released during the height of Avengers: Endgame, which ended up being one of the biggest movies ever. Sonic has the advantage of coming out when there is basically no competition and on a four-day holiday weekend for kids in school, so even a simple three-day comparison will be skewed a little bit because of this.

I am all for Sonic being a successful movie, which I'm happy it is. But I don't feel people should discount Detective Pikachu's box office, either, because that movie did great given the circumstances as well.
