Re: Don't Buy Monopoly On Switch, Unless You Like Waiting

KissMyFlapjack

I encountered this problem on my digital copy and powered down my console and restarted and haven't had the problem since. I really like video game versions of board games because not everyone likes them, and you always have an opponent in a video game. The new boards (3 3D boards in total and two standard ones) are nice and objective goals and rules enable much shorter game lengths as well.

The $40 price tag is a bit much, but that's what Ubidoft launched Monopoly at on other consoles before coming down to $20 a few months later.

Re: Review: Just Dance 2018 (Switch)

KissMyFlapjack

I've never quite understood why so many people mock and ridicule this series. While I strongly dislike the subscription service because these games used to come with nearly double the amount of songs as base content, Just Dance is a fun game at parties or family gatherings and is right at home on Nintendo consoles.

Re: Out Today: Five New Switch eShop Games to Spice Up Halloween

KissMyFlapjack

Monopoly could stand to be a bit lower in price, but I bought it on the eShop because I love it. And to be fair, one of the two all-new 3D boards is spooky themed so it would go good for Halloween. It has HD rumble, three 3D boards in all, two classic boards - one being Rabbids themed - unlockable specialized tokens and objective cards that provide specific goals for a shorter game session. I'm happy with it, but I love Monopoly. It will sell very well when it dips down to $20 like the other Monopoly games Ubisoft has on other systems as they all launched at $40 as well before coming down in price.

Re: Random: Here Are Some Licensed Collectible Nintendo Switch 'Lunchbox Kits'

KissMyFlapjack

These are already out for sale at GameStop - at least the one near me. Bought the Mario one. It's regular lunch box size. I'll probably never use it nor much of the stuff inside, but I'm a sucker for items like this. Its a very nice design.

Also, this is a lunch box - NOT a Switch carrying case. It does not have any padding or device inside to house your Switch. It is only a lunch box.

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

One thing that I think a lot of people are missing is that it sounds like - and @scully1888 can correct me if I am wrong - the decision to withhold a final score was not just the reviewer's but the editorial board as a whole. But yet, the reviewer seems to be getting most of the heat and insinuations.

It's just a video game score, people. I'm still surprised people have gotten so worked up about it. I wonder how many of these people actually bought the game, as opposed to how many had their minds made up going into it and just jumped on the bandwagon of hate. Some people complaining and saying there are obvious kickbacks don't even own a Switch to play the game on, but yet have strong enough opinions to make thinly veiled accusations. I bought it upon release on the eShop and have enjoyed it, and its better now with the patch. The practice of not scoring a game is common for those in which an online component needs to be tried and graded, and it is extremely rare in other situations like this one.

It was just a decision made by the team. It bothers me that people are so quick to jump to accusations without any proof, evidence or history of occurance to back them up.

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

I'm surprised but not surprised at the level of emphasis that gets placed on a review score number. The original review basically said the game was broken trash and not to buy it, but that somehow gets read as getting a "free pass" and the lack of a final score (until recently) must mean that Nintendo Life and this reviewer must have gotten secret kickbacks.

Is this Nintendo Life or The X-Files? I fully didn't expect all the seething anger and accusations I've read in the comments.

Re: Bandai Set To Release Stunning New Set Of Physical PokéBalls

KissMyFlapjack

@faint Article doesn't bother me at all. In fact, it even says what it is about in the headline, so it should have saved you a click if you weren't interested. But instead, you felt like you needed to get on here and leave a degrading comment on a site that provides you with daily Nintendo content. Some people just will find anything to complain about, and that's really what this boils down to.

Re: Poll: The Switch eShop is Hot, But Is It Time for an Overhaul of Its User Interface?

KissMyFlapjack

If the eShop keeps adding over 10 games a week like they have been the past couple of ones, the need for better organization becomes paramount. I'm personally not a fan of the plain white background and silence when browsing, but I also understand why it is like that (for speed), so I can live with it. But we do need a section for promotions, or "brand new this week", or for genres as the catalog grows.

Re: A Just Dance 2018 Demo is Now Available on Nintendo Switch and Wii U

KissMyFlapjack

I really like the Just Dance series, and I never understood why it gets so much hate. It can be a lot of fun at social gatherings, much in the way Wii Sports was. I don't really care for their subscription options and I don't necessarily think they need a yearly update... but it's a fun, harmless game. It still sells well - and it actually sells the best on Nintendo consoles, so I see no harm in it being offered.

Re: Review: FIFA 18 (Switch)

KissMyFlapjack

You gotta love the people who come in, ignore a lengthy review that is written, argue about the numerical score without having played the game - or even own the system that it is on - and immediately post a bunch of other stuff from other sites. It's almost as if someone had their own mind and agenda made up well beforehand... Hmmmm.

Re: Video: Fan-Made Showcase Illustrates The Potential Of Animal Crossing On Switch

KissMyFlapjack

@DonSerrot I like your ideas about paths and having Leif help you. The part about assigning plots or specific areas for houses is something I think everyone would love. That was one of the biggest frustrations I had with New Leaf was building a path or an area with patterns and designs only to have some animal move in right on top of it. Later, I learned to stratigically place PWPs in places so my designs wouldn't be smashed, but having the option ahead of time to tell animals where they can build a house would be most excellent.

Its hard to be patient for a new Animal Crossing. I know the Switch just came out and we shouldn't expect everything all at once. But its been over four years in North America since a real mainline game and it seems like its been forever! haha

Re: Video: Fan-Made Showcase Illustrates The Potential Of Animal Crossing On Switch

KissMyFlapjack

@TsukiDeity He gets into twitter arguments all the time with followers who disagree with his opinions. He recently posted a very vulgar video criticizing Nintendo for bringing Mario Party's Top 100 Games to 3DS instead of Switch. He's videoed himself throwing his Switch in a box and mocking it. Went onto Larmarr Wilson's YouTube to pick a very public fight with him. Angerly exposed a Nintendo employee's correspondance when he was turned down for preview/review copies of an upcoming game. He told Charles Martinet to shut up and stick to shouting "woo-hoo" into a microphone.

He makes good points and has good ideas, but he has a very thin skin when it comes to criticism towards himself, and quickly blocks people who have differing opinions. These are just a few of the reasons why people don't like him.

Re: Random: Sports Stars Just Can't Get Enough Of The Nintendo Switch

KissMyFlapjack

I really don't care if these were staged or not - although Randy Orton's seems the most sincere. We've complained for years that Nintendo doesn't do enough marketing and now that they are, people are complaining of photos like these of being a setup.

I think this is a good thing because sports celebrities have fans and those fans will see them playing the Switch, and it will appear to be "cool" to them. It really makes sense that people who travel a lot and like video games will like the Switch, so it's not advertising that is way over the top that it's not fathomable.

I say good on Nintendo. After having suffered through years of bad or non-existent marketing, seeing this is a very welcome change.

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Makes Modest Chart Debut in Japan, as Switch Still Dominates

KissMyFlapjack

We also have to remember that Other M had much more of a buildup to launch than Samus Returns did, and will marketed as a hardcore title in the franchise. Other M benefitted from having over a year of hype as opposed to Samus that is coming off of two disappointing titles and only three-four months of hype.

I don't think the numbers are that dire considering Metroid isn't as big in Japan as it is in North America. Sure, it could have been better, but it could have been a lot worse after what Federation Force tried to do to the series.
