Update (Sat 6th Jun, 2020 06:00 BST): This year's EA Play was meant to take place next week on 11th June, but due to the current events happening in America and elsewhere, it's now been pushed back to the 18th June. Here's the official announcement from the Electronic Arts Twitter account:
Original Story (Tue 5th May, 2020 05:45 BST): Electronic Arts might not be the biggest supporter of the Nintendo Switch, but it's still showing at least some support for the system - with the recent announcement Burnout Paradise Remastered would be released on the hybrid device this year.
If you've been wondering if EA has anything planned for the Switch beyond this release, it's likely to be revealed at the company's all-digital 'EA Play Live' stream conference. EA has announced this event will be taking place next month, on 11th June, and will come with world premieres, news, and much more.
If we were to take a guess, there should be at least one Nintendo related announcement. It's likely to be a new version of FIFA and a watered Switch port. One other game that springs to mind is the original Unravel title.
Unravel Two arrived last March, and there have been questions about the release of the first game ever since. Last month, though, the original game (including a mention of Switch) was spotted on the Brazillian Classification Board. Could Yarny be making a return?
Are you expecting any Nintendo Switch announcements at this year's EA Play livestream? What would you like to see released on the Switch? Share your thoughts below.

It's not so much that I don't expect any significant EA announcements as much as I just don't care about EA in general.
Madden 2002 for 60 dollars.
we won't see anything, but don't worry, they've been looking at the Switch and consider it/Nintendo a valuable platform/partner!
Can't wait to see generic boring sports game #107!
Please be Madden. Please be Madden. Please be Madden. Please be Madden. Please be Madden.
EA... one of the worst companies in the industry. It if wasn't for FIFA they would be going out of business by now.
....It's a shame that no one cares.
Apex Legends would be a welcome announcement
Porting Mass Effect 3 to the Wii U was frankly more than they've done for the entire Switch.
This is good news. I am excited to find out what the overall schedule will be for companies' streams during E3 time, and whether Nintendo's stream will be like it normally is or if it will just be the Smash announcement.
Can't wait for them to spend two hours on the Mops and other Cleaning Supplies Stuff Pack for the Sims 4!
Are they still voted the worst company?
guns and sports
(And Star Wars yay)
Go away, EA.
Nobody likes you.
Just rot in a ditch, why dontcha?!
Unprecedented poop.
@Thraxmo 2002 probably had a better Franchise mode than 2020 sadly
"Is anything else making the Switch"
You're joking, of right? It's EA we're talking about. If we're lucky, we'll get the same FIFA game as last time, just with new clothes and microtransactions
Battlefront 2 or Jedi: Fallen Order would be a dream come true if they were miraculously ported over.
@Toy_Link Nah there is a Knitting pack coming (which is community voted), an expansion pack and a game pack later this year. None of these will come to the Switch, though.
@Nintendolife, no need to advertise for EA here.. they are never going to release relative new games for the Switch. The best they can do is port over PS3 / XBOX 360 era games (see Fifa). Not that I care, the only EA game I would be interested in, like AT ALL, is the Sims 4 / some special Switch Sims game. But that will never happen.
NFL and NHL, please!
I can hardly contain my excitement. Will we get FIFA 21 Legacy Edition or will we get nothing!
@Toy_Link
Face masks too, and a channel for the TV with only covid19 news in Simlish.
A release of Force Unleashed, Dragon age and Dead Space collections would be really nice for the switch but they really need to give us Mass Effect trilogy, it is the perfect console for those incredible games. It has become a strong necessity. Best gaming experience of its generation... It has to be ported in physical, everything on one cartridge. I would buy that day one full price I don’t care, I want it.
@OorWullie
Haha, truly. Will EA be brave enough to stick it to the FIFA licensing office, and have another year of not releasing on Nintendo? Tune in on June 11th!
"they are never going to release relative new games for the Switch. The best they can do is port over PS3 / XBOX 360 era games"
I hate to break this to you, but other companies do the exact same thing.
The AA/AAA games we have from the current generation (from 2014) are a Doom, a Wolfenstein, a Dragon Ball, a Mortal Kombat, a Witcher and maybe a couple else.
We don't have any CODs, none from this gen's Assassin's Creeds, GTA, Red Dead Redemption II, Mafia, Just Cause, Far Cry, Jurassic Park, Devil May Cry 5, Kingdom Hearts, Dying Light, Tomb Raider, Prey, Hitman, Deus Ex, Resident Evil VII, Batman Arkham Knight, Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, Dragon Age Inquisition, Dark Souls 3, Metal Gear Solid V - just to name a few, or 30 if you count all of these current third party games/series.
It's clear as day that it's not EA's fault.
It's Nintendo's.
We don’t need leaks from EA to see whar’s coming. Sportsgames 2021, sims expansion, a star wars game and a battlefield game. With so much microtransactions sprinkled over it so that I’m not interested anymore.
@construx
I completely agree with you and this observation really hurts, the switch’s catalog could be so much more...
However much I don’t like EA and their practices I would like to see Jedi fallen order and the command and conquer/red alert remaster make it over
Anthem: Switch Edition?
I hate EA and the company, I don't really want to think about the things they make, it's a shame
I get the hate on EA and all...
But what if they started properly testing the waters on Switch? Anyone who's mad about no EA support but then doesn't buy the actual good games out of spite, is shooting themselves in the foot imo.
Not saying pricing/microtransactions/watered down or bad ports aren't valid reasons to not buys their games, they very much are! But if nobody buys their games on Switch, there's obviously never gonna be enough incentive for them to support the Switch and neither would we be a part of the very important group of people that buy games like the latest Star Wars and Need For Speed games showing EA what we want their games to be like.
Plants Vs Zombies maybe? I don't know. They have some amazing games that would do well on Switch. Really not sure why they have such a slow output. (I guess they made their micro transactions bed)
I want to come here and say I don’t care about EA anymore. However if they ported some decent titles, removed or at least reduced the prevalence of MTs and pretended to give a damn about the players I would start to care again and give them money. Silly EA
EA are partnering with Stadia. That tells you everything you need to know. Next.
Which will it be this time? Totally snubbing Nintendo and all Nintendo fans? Or releasing deliberately inferior versions of games from other consoles, on Switch? Maybe they will slap a new label on FIFA 2018 again and call it a "new" game? Or will they spend 10 minutes of a press conference talking about how previous deliberately inferior games sold poorly on Nintendo and that shows Nintendo fans don't want their products?
EA, you can shut me up by just giving us Mass Effect 1-3 on Switch. That, and maybe a SIMs game are pretty much all you have that I like anymore.
Like most things they do, I'm sure Google are throwing a ton of money at Stadia. EA don't get out of bed for anything less than a huge pile of cash.
EA make me laugh they choose not to support for one of the best selling consoles and when they do they choose an old game and want full price then say we are not doing anymore games for Nintendo platforms cos they don’t sell ,well £45 for a PS3 era game is unacceptable especially since I can buy it on PS4 right now for £9.99 this company is a joke even going back to the 16 bit days sega had to make them official 3rd party developer to stop them reverse engineering the MD.
This comment section in a nutshell: "I want to come here and say I don’t care about EA anymore. I don't care about them so strongly that I want to come here and say it".
Me? Fingers always crossed for NFS stuff (except for MW2012, long platted on Vita), but this being the Burnout Paradise month on Switch, I doubt they'll be generous enough to drive another racer this way. The first Unravel would be quite welcome as well. And whatever else they see fit to unshelf from their Wikipedia-listed legacy of the last decade (because I'm not sure how eager they are to dig deeper) - Dragon Age, Mirror's Edge, Kingdoms of Amalur... what? In the end, they'll either port any of these or they won't. I definitely won't be starved for games if they don't, but I'll be in the market if they do.
@nhSnork Last Mirrior's Edge was a big failure, they don't have the rights to Kingdoms of Amalur anymore. And seeing how bad last Bioware's titles were, don't expect anything from them either.
@sanderev I don't care about "bad recent titles" talk (over the years, I've proven to enjoy one too many subjects of it), but copyright ball games are indeed a problem when discussing possible ports based on Wikipedia listings alone. I don't track EA closely and don't know much about what franchises they can no longer publish. Maybe skimming through Origin may give a better idea, but I'm too lazy to do that at the moment. Never had any of these oh so fashionable gamer feuds with EA, but when it comes to Switch "port begging", I have a lot of higher tier priorities among other publishers.
Let's face it, if one of the big publishers doesn't want to support the Switch, we'd all rather it be EA.
Just give us retro releases if Desert Strike / Jungle Strike / Road Rash / NHLPA
Burnout Paradise Remastered launches about a week after their EA Play event, so that might make an appearance. Other than that and FIFA 21 Legacy Edition, don't expect much in the way of Switch support.
AFAIK Mass Effect Trilogy is gettimng remastered on all platforms outside of the Switch.
EA is gonna EA.
This is an important moment for EA, which system will they support more: the switch (with over 55 million users) or stadia (with 1 million users)
World Premieres, huh? Must be all the Google Stadia news, then...
Please leave the Switch alone EA...
Please DO NOT BRING YOUR GAMES.
We are genuinely begging you to leave the Switch alone, there is nothing on there for you, you know this already, nobody likes you, all of your games have not even sold even close to 1m units combined in 3+ years the console has been available.
This will never change.
We don't want you.
I'm always amused at the number of people who hate EA and insist they don't want EA games on the Switch. I don't understand this way of thinking. You do realize that a good portion of the 53 million Switch owners out there don't have any idea about EA's bad blood with Nintendo and would welcome games like Madden and NHL and others on the console. Some EA games would probably sell very well on Switch, such as The Sims or Peggle/Plants vs Zombies...
It does no damage to have EA games on Switch and will likely raise its profile to see a Madden game on Switch alongside the other consoles. You don't have to get them if they do release, but I think it would be great for the system and for those who play those games and like gaming on the Switch.
I'm excited to see all the full price games that include loot boxes, a premium pass, and the ability to pay for power.
Give us a damn Madden Football!!! 😠
Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare and Mass Effect Trilogy please...
No Frostbite = no buy
Unravel 1, Dead Space ports, the original Mass Effect Trilogy were the first things off of the top of my head, since they probably wouldn't be pricey, and could be easy sells. One game EA NEEDS to bring to Switch is Plants vs. Zombies. That series is such a missed opportunity, and of course some ports of their sports games. They've published a few smaller titles here and there, so they could either bring old or new ones out.
EA's kind of due for some sort of new blockbuster (the Star Wars game did great, but that was launched a while ago) but I never expect much from hem-I'm just waiting until they get too big and the shareholders gut the last golden goose before leaving.
Bad Company 2 remastered with all DLC or punch yourself in the crotch Strauss
PVZ, mass effect and dead space. That is all I care about from them.
Even then I'd be paying reluctantly.
@RPGamer Well if it were DBZ then we'd have about 4 more announcements to tell us that they were gonna announce something. Just like Goku would power up for 4 episodes straight...
@RPGamer I liked the series as a kid but as an adult I just don't enjoy it anymore. It's a perfectly fine series for kids because they haven't yet watched or read many stories and can be entertained easily with very very simple plots and characters.
But for older viewers I don't think there's much there. The show breaks its own world building regularly, characters are very one dimensional and there really is no plot. Every arc is bad guy(s) shows up, all the good guys try repeatedly to beat him(them) everyone ultimately fails and it falls on Goku in one final moment to save everyone - and from the Freiza arc onward, usually by unlocking some new powerful transformation that is immediately irrelevant next arc.
Honestly I can complain a lot of about the series now. But when I was a kid, I loved it like everyone else I knew. It just doesn't hold up as an adult - not beyond the nostalgia factor.
I watch a monstrous amount of anime and there's a lot of more creative, better written, and more interesting anime out there. But there's an even greater amount of anime that's a lot worse than the Dragon Ball series too. So... take that however you like.
@RPGamer I lost interest in Naruto fairly early on. I watched the Dragon Ball series as a kid and then Bleach as a teen. I liked Bleach a lot for a while but it didn't end well. Though they might be fixing that when the show returns next year. My favorite "mega long anime" is Fairy Tail. It has highs and lows but overall, I enjoyed it throughout its run. I never got into One Piece just for lack of time.
Most of my favorite anime are more reasonable lengths. And for the last 7-9 years or so I've pretty religiously watched seasonal anime. Like 3 or more shows a season. Sometimes as many as 10-12 in a really packed season. I don't watch TV, I watch YouTube/Twich stuff and anime. lol
@RPGamer Yes I did. I'm cautiously optimistic. I read the Manga all the way through and... you could tell how much they were forced to rush it. But it's been a long time - a long time for the author to rework something things and give us that final story arc in a good form. It does tie up the loose end and largely explain why Ichigo is so strong. Without spoilers, he's the perfect coincidence, the perfect storm of chance things going right.
Im sure both EA fans out there will like this
insert "nobody cares" meme here
With all these delays to these game events and E3 replacements, I expect to see the first gaming announcement in August.
Just give us a proper Battlefield and im happy
Expectation The Sims 4 on Switch = 0%
It needs Origin pass to access The Sims 4 DLC and i don't think Nintendo alliws Origin on Nintendo Switch.
Better EA bring something cute like My Sims on Nintendo Switch and No More excuses !
Oh no, now we have to wait till the 18th before we can see the next FIFA game on Switch?
Just postpone it forever, along with all your games.
@JayJ the don't forget their gregarious star wars fans.
@Dezzy naw they have done more on switch then wii u. don't you remember that fifa game with removed content that iirc was download only for switch at full price iirc.
i have no interest in EA, the last game i bought was (i think) the chamber of secrets for ps1
I am never getting Dragon Age on switch, am I.
I have no idea why they haven't put a Madden on the Switch. However, with the Switch still breaking sales records, if they do release one now, I'll just infer it's for the love of the share holders, not the game
Plants Vs Zombies, Mass Effect (done right!), Dead Space collection and Sims would do great on the Switch. They don't have to try to perform some port miracle like other talented studios if they can't do it with Fifa (and I'm still not sure how the pass off an older engine as bespoke? Maybe they don't know what the word means.)
EA; was it today? Do we have anything exciting?
Staff; No..?
EA; Live stream delayed!
EA can cancel they stuff as far as i care.
However, i'm really hyped for that New Game Plus Expo with Sega, Grasshopper and SNK.
If there is no Mass Effect Collection for Switch then I don’t care
need for speeeed
Really doubt it’ll be worth watching given EA seems to despise Nintendo.
Unless it’s Fight Night, Road Rash, Boom Blox, a General Chaos remake, or any of the other really good franchises that EA abandoned to be the most non-gaming related game developer in existence then I’m not interested.
They can shove Madden, lootbboxes, and their UFC suckfests.
I had no idea cancelling shows for the greater good was this massive!
Almost like a new culture being formed...daymn!! Way to go.
Would live to see a Switch exclusive Titanfall, the first 2 games were ace.
NHL, kingdoms of almalur, and plants vs zombies for me please.
Mass Effect Trilogy remaster using 3’s engine please for everyone else.
...but it will be FIFA.
I bet they'll announce something like the Mass Effect trilogy for $80. After they said the Burnout Paradise port was going to be available for a freaking $65 (a 12-year old game that's been ported on almost all consoles since then), I lost all hope in EA taking the Switch seriously.
A new SimCity like the classics, MySims 2, A Need For Speed like the originals of the 90's, a new Burnout.
But, ..., they will continue being a dream as EA continues with "those" ideas and business...., oh well...
Sims 5 switch and Knights of the Old republic 3
There are tons of great EA games that I’d welcome on the Switch. It’s kind of silly that The Sims and PvZ Garden Warfare haven’t made it over - and I’d be surprised if EA isn’t looking at Animal Crossing and realizing that they have games that work well for that casual gamer.
Just like everyone else, I’d love to see Mass Effect and Dead Space and Dragon Age. I also think the arcade-y sports games in the mode of SSX, NBA Street, NBA Jam and Fight Night. The older Burnout games would be cool too. I don’t think Jedi Fallen Order could work without huge compromises - it kind of chugs on the other consoles already.
@Razer stop including people like me in your “we don’t want EA” announcements. You don’t want EA, I do. I want NHL, Mass effect Trilogy, Dragon Age, etc.
@Anti-Matter I rather have NHL and Madden first over Sims
@Dman10
Every EA games have their fan.
I am the fan of The Sims games and My Sims games too.
Announcements nobody cares about for games nobody wants from a company nobody likes, now available on a day nobody's paying attention!
See, it's just like a normal E3 year after all!!
What annoys me is everyone moaning towards EA. Yes they are ****s and they plague some games with micro transactions but they also hold the license to a lot of really good games.
So bad company or not I still would like to see a battlefield game, frostbite fifa, mass effect Trilogy, apex, plants vs zombies etc.
Stop saying they are not welcome to the switch and speak for everyone else when others really want to play some EA published games on the switch.
