Nintendo has revealed a new initiative which will see 'Nintendo Switch On The Go' pop-up airport lounges appearing across the US over the next few weeks.
Beginning later this week on 13th February, busy travellers will have the chance to get stuck into some of the console's best games as they wait for their flights. A press release detailing the announcement says that attendees will "encounter fun surprises" at the airports with opportunities to go hands-on with both Switch and Switch Lite.
There will be seating and charging ports provided, as well as different demos playable in both Handheld and TV modes. Some of the games you can expect to find include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Party and Tetris 99.
Here's where you'll find the Nintendo Switch On The Go experience, all located beyond passenger screening:
Airport |

Date |
Dulles International Airport Washington, D.C. |
Concourse B near west entrance/exit, next to Gate B62 |

Feb. 17 – March 29 |
O’Hare International Airport Chicago, IL |

In a nice touch, those who take part in the experience will have the chance to order Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems and will receive a free carrying case with their order. Just for stopping by, visitors will also receive a free Nintendo Switch branded luggage handle wrap and a $10 coupon from Target to use on any Nintendo purchase of $75 or more (available while supplies last). Lucky for some, huh?
Just so happen to be planning a holiday? Perhaps you should speed things up and get to one of these airports for some free game time - you can always pretend you never saw this article and that it's all a coincidence!

If only 1. my chances of flying over the next month aren't nil and 2. I'd actually have a chance of hitting any of these airports if I did...
Super surprised LAX wasn't included
Check in has never been fun.
Somebody drew a circle around the US and said - Let's put 4 of them somewhere on this circle.
Maybe they are using the map to promote Ring Fit Adventure?
Why not Toronto?!?!?
Kinda surprised Orlando International Airport isn't on the list. Seems like an ideal location to catch families with high disposable income.
Straight genius Nintendo.
It sounds awfully exclusive but I guess some people will be glad
@rjejr They are four of the busiest airports in the country. If you have a flight across the US, chances are, you're going to connect at one of those airports.
Though I tend to try to go out of my way to avoid O'Hare. Which is difficult, as I live in Wisconsin.
@Tyranexx
Even if both your conditions were possible, you’d likely have a long line to wait in. No thanks. Flying has enough lines, but I can see the appeal for those wanting to try the system.
I look forward to the stories of people missing their flights because they got caught up in playing the Switch. haha
@Tandoori I know, they're some of THE major hubs. But so are Atlanta, St. Louis and Denver which could have thrown the middle of the country a bone. And Atlanta isn't even that "middle', but it seems more middle than these, and covers the southeast.
Maybe they wanted 4 points to make a giant cross to explain to Sony the difference between an X and a cross? 😂

@Kang81 It'd probably depend on the time of day and the week. I like flying itself, but I don't like getting processed like a commodity (I highly dislike bring touched by strangers) and don't fly enough to consider signing up for pre-check.
The closest one offering this to me is O'Hare, but there are closer airports. Plus it's one I actively try to avoid.
Perfect timing for me, flying out of Chicago and into Seattle in early March. I love seeing promotional events like this even if I am already a user/owner.
Denver, Atlanta and LA are among the most traveled airports in the entire world. Surprised none of the 3 are part of this. Especially Denver because it is literally in the middle of the US
@Tandoori well that’s true, still, it’s surprise LAX isn’t there.
Instead of these lame marketing gimmicks, why not implement some very basic online features like oh I don't know, voice chat and messaging onto their online service? Give me a reason to renew my $20 subscription, Nintendo. Start re-releasing some more quality n64/gamecube games onto the switch e-shop also. There's so many shi*ty indie games on the e-shop it's ridiculous.
@PBandSmelly RIGHT!!!! I work at that zoo, and I would have snuck in a bit of play time on my break! 😆
For anyone complaining about airport selection, I see this as being a marketing experiment. I think Nintendo is feeling out the airport market to see if a chain of long-term in-terminal stores would be worthwhile.
I could be wrong, though.
If the program does well, I imagine they will expand it to more airports. Though personally I don't imagine that many people travelling, who would want a Switch and have the money, don't already have one. Air travel is super expensive, so I feel like most people would be strapped for cash and not so eager to drop another 200-300 dollars.
guys these events are NOT FOR US
we already drank the kool aid
How cool. Hopefully the continue this and rotate in a new set of Airports. MIA next please 😬🙏🏼
No JFK or LaGuardia airport 😡
I hope they set up one in the Indianapolis Airport.
Man, those JoyCons are going to be super nasty after a billion people try them out.
@Tyranexx
I hate O’Hare, I’ll take Midway over it any day.
@Kang81 I have successfully avoided O'Hare so far. I've been through Midway once, as part of a layover. It was late in the evening, so the place was pretty much dead.
Probably the busiest airport I have been to in recent memory is Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. There are many terminals and it is, quite frankly, nuts.
