Re: Nintendo's Direct "Dominated" E3 2021, Peaking At 3.1 Million Viewers

Kilamanjaro

Love e3, really helps set up what games I plan to get for the Fall / Winter months and teasers for games a few years out. Having so many developers and publishers, it can be hard to follow EVERY game event, so I mostly keep on eye on E3 then the Game Awards in December, with the occasional direct style videos the console makers put out

Re: Yes, The Samus Returns Team Helped Nintendo Develop Metroid Dread

Kilamanjaro

As a long time Metroid fan, have to say Samus Returns was alright. It looks like a very similar graphics engine, wish they pushed the Switch hardware, lots of jagged edges and the graphics look so-so. After having beat Hollow Knight, I think Nintendo has to really up their game because that's the Metroidvania to beat. Will wait for a review and sale for this bad boy, $60 for a Switch game.based on what looks like a 3DS engine just doesn't justify the price for me. $40-50 would've been sweet (like WarioWare)

Re: Feature: Game Builder Garage Could Help Make The Next Generation Of Game Devs

Kilamanjaro

A related coding game I played on Switch was FUZE. I tried FUZE for about 2-3 hours and found it hard to use with the joycons + keyboard combo and having to fiddle with the tutorial in between. It was helpful and I made a map and some animated sprites but ultimately gave up. This looks great. Hope the tools just get easier and easier to use. Did a python course for fun last spring & it's been helpful for product management and working with devs, always recommend taking at least an entry level course or online tutorials for coding, it can be helpful

Re: Talking Point: Do You Miss Instruction Manuals?

Kilamanjaro

Absolute pinnacle of consumerism. They made sense in an age without the internet and digital manuals, sure we love them but ultimately like getting a dummy thicc phonebook for every place you move to. Sure you use it once or twice but then it just sits there 99% of the time only to serve as a fleeting memory of ownership for a product you already know how to use.

Re: Soapbox: An Anniversary Ode To Okami, The Best Zelda Game That Isn't

Kilamanjaro

Like the game but never really got the Zelda comparisons. Just because every games journalist says it still hasn't made it feel that way to me. It's like looking at those photos where one person sees a gold dress and someone else sees a blue one, it just never looks the color people say! I still like Okami, but I agree with people here that it can be slow so therefore I haven't beaten the game either

Re: Mario Kart 8 Becomes The "Best-Selling" Racing Game In US History

Kilamanjaro

Can't wait for Mario Kart 9! Sold Mario kart 8 deluxe after a year, had played it a bunch on the Wii U and anytime I raced anyone on Switch it was an absolute bloodbath for them sooo yeah, in the spirit of fair competition I had to sell it so that some day when I race someone it will be a fair, fun match for them.

Re: Soapbox: 'I'll Play It On Game Pass' Is Becoming Common, But Does That Affect Switch eShop?

Kilamanjaro

Glad you wrote this article, Gamepass is an amazing offering and has really let me try games I wouldn't otherwise be able to afford or that I've been nervous to purchase. Some might be because the games take up a ton of memory on my microSD (400GB & 200GB) & the other is that they will not run very well on the Switch. Portability is a good selling point for a while, but I own some 80+ games on Switch so pretty sure I have thousands of hours of content on there. But also, I have spent a TON of money the last 4 years on both great games but also games I regret spending the full amount of cash on. I really love Gamepass and have been playing a ton of indie games, AAA titles and some other games that have flown under the radar. It's not to say I won't keep playing my Switch, I just think as a gamer that every gamer would be able to benefit from services like Gamepass Ultimate. Best of both worlds.

Re: Japanese Charts: Monster Hunter Rise Stays Top In A Nintendo-Dominated Top Ten

Kilamanjaro

Outriders is excellent, really enjoying the game. Shame more people are not hopping onto Gamepass, as a long time Nintendo fan & day one owner of a Switch have to say I'm honestly blown away by the Xbox Series X and Gamepass. They have a ton of indies, sports games, shooters, AAA games, etc I held out on getting for the Switch and it paid off. Perfect pair for me (don't have to spend $25 on Narita Boy for example), will get a PS5 Digital some time down the road at a lower price / smaller size for the Sony exclusives but keep cross-platform on the XSX. Absolutely fantastic time to be a gamer! Wish Xbox had more penetration in that market but it's doing well in others. Totally fine, poor MSFT 😂

Re: Retro-Bit's Next Tribute64 Controller Offers Wireless N64 Play, And Pre-Orders Open Today

Kilamanjaro

Ay I got way too many controllers at this point 😂 I'm in control already NL! Switch Pro launch controller, base joycons, red blue first gen (hyper drift) joycons, gamecube wireless, NES add ons, SNES controller EU version, SplitPad Pro attachment and the new MH Rise Pro Controller (since the joycons constantly drift / to have a level playing field for fighting games). I'll mayyyybe get an N64 controller if Hori or Nintendo releases a full reprint with bluetooth. But please, I have enough controllers haha a PS5s worth of them

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 3rd)

Kilamanjaro

This weekend I am playing some Super Mario 64, Star Wars Squadrons and ACNH.. plus started Octopath Traveler on the Xbox series x. Poured 90 hours into the Switch version & happy to start it again and get some achievements this time around. Played a bit on xCloud and Remote Play, was a bit choppy on 2.4GHZ but will switch to 5GHZ to keep it smooth

Re: Dev Explains Why Nintendo Made Mario's Anniversary Games Limited-Time

Kilamanjaro

@streetzman ooo insult guy over here everyone! Ever heard of the Nintendo eShop? For Wii? 3DS? Wii U? Where many of those older gen titles are held? Lots of us have purchased on those digital eshops as recently as the last few months and definitely over the past 15 years. Not everyone holds onto those consoles & digital purchases aren't tied across the ecosystem. So why don't you use the energy you have to insult other people to use your brain to think about & understand the limitations of the Nintendo eShop and online ecosystem from this century.
