Today is eShop download update day, and the dizzying list and the day-to-day overload of game details can cause some titles to get overlooked. Perhaps one of them is Rise Eterna, a tactical RPG inspired by the 16-bit era that is being published by Forever Entertainment; it's priced at $19.99USD / £17.99 on the eShop.
Forever Entertainment has also confirmed two physical editions that are now available for pre-order through its own store; you can see them here.
There's a standard edition that includes a reversible cover, a sticker and a numbered certificate, priced at 39,99 Euros.

Rather more eye-catching is the Limited Edition at 59,99 Euros, which is limited to 1500 copies. You can see a couple of glamour shots and list of its contents below.

- Collector's box
- a box with a beautiful artwork from Rise Eterna, created specifically for the physical edition of the game. It includes amazing gadgets. The size of the box can be found in the specification.
- Cardboard stand
- 3D frame with an adjustable battle scene.
- Classic case
- a plastic box containing a reversible cover and a game cartridge for Nintendo Switch (global).
- Soundtrack on CD
- contains a selection of music from the game, to help you immerse in Rise Eterna world.
- Numbered certificate
- a plastic card with a unique number which gives the set an additional collector value.
- Cleaning cloth
- an item useful to clean not only glasses, but also the screen of your console.
The physical editions won't be shipped for 2-6 months, so that's worth bearing in mind.
So, are you tempted to check out Rise Eterna?

Hells to the yeah! I am first!
@rockodoodle nice!
Looks like a lot like old Fire Emblem but with a far smaller cast... The massive roster of units has always been one of the biggest appeals of FE for me but I guess I'll just try to not think of it as Fire Emblem and maybe I can get some enjoyment out of it, pre-ordered the physical edition because why not. It could be good.
@rockodoodle Curses, I was busy texting someone on my phone. Next time...
Looking forward to a review on this, I'm genuinely curious about it.
Bookmarked for a sale
@Kalmaro I feel like a king for the day indeed!
Game seems cool, looks like it's gear towards Fire Emblem players. Definitely may check it out once I finish my playthrough of Fire Emblem Warriors and The Three Houses.
@Northwind
Strange it's 50% off for me so its only £8.99
Edit
It's 50% off if you own one of there other games as so I would check and maybe Nintendo life should add that too article.
Seems interesting! I've been playing a lot of Fire Emblem and it's always good to have another tactical RPG on the Switch. I will wait for the reviews and, if they are positive, a sale.
Thank you for this! I already went and purchased it!!
Going for broke here...
Is it any good? How about a review?
I’m upset this is the first time hearing about this game. It legit looks like a real contender for a top spot in this genre.
Trying to get the included video to play but I think my network connection is a tad buggy at the moment.
The fact it LOOKS like it’s not a mobile game is great alone. Really digging the overall style of everything.
UPDATE: ok so it looks as I’d hoped in motion. Wow. Can anyone give any insight into if this game features voice acting or if it’s all read-along?
Not gonna lie. The Art is sick, the Box is sick... but the gameplay its a big no no, at least for me. I prefer tactical games more like FF Tactics or Triangle Strategy. I managed to play 3 houses just because they changed the mechanics.
Music in the trailer reminded me of Two Steps From Hell, and I do enjoy a tactical RPG! Less characters may also mean a not so long story... Interested!
@CorvoRevo You mean having the effects of real positioning (behind, beside etc) and height?
Whoever edited that trailer with annoying flashes, should be demoted.
Did "first" competitions become unironically hip again? Or did I miss the /s ?
I just preordered the game, didn't even knew it existed!
The price for the big box is more than fair, it'll be a beautiful piece in my collection.
Thanks!
The digital version is half off so i will pick that up.
edit: Not enjoying my time with this so far. Hoping it will open up soon. FE this is not.
Edit: ok full on buyer’s remorse here. The AI is braindead. The music and sound effects are flat and the dialogue is trite. UI is barebones. Also if you wear glasses/contacts prepare to squint. The character icons are small and blend in a bit with the background. Also the flash from critical hits is painful. I can be photosensitive at times but I felt fine when playing. It is the game.
Only pluses are the art, and the battle animation (granted that is basic) which I can’t use now cuz critical hits hurt my vision.
There are better games out there. I’m heading back to wargrove and FE. Or the Project Triangle demo.
I applaud the devs for trying but this game is devoid of the charm, battle system and ambiance that make the games it is trying to emulate, fun.
@birdcat I don't have epilepsy. That trailer was the worst I've had flashing bother me.
@Ryu_Niiyama thanks. Was wondering if I should pick this up. Sounds like I'd get the same outcome. Way to take one for the team.
@james_mueller yeah at least it was half off. I put in 2 hours and still have the same opinion. Biggest issue is the AI. The enemy just sits there until you are in their movement range. No pressure for strategy. Just line up your tank and range and pick em off. Super boring.
