@RadioHedgeFund ahh.yeah, okay then yeah I agree with you. Still wouldn't kill them to have party chats in-game, I'm always throwing up different apps depending on the person so from a UX perspective it is a bit clunky

@ekwcll yeah I feel you, I have a bunch of third party games on the Switch as well. COVID has made my train / bus trips far less frequent & first time I've had a strictly home console in a few years. Absolutely love my Switch, forgot about the rest of the market. Xbox is doing some amazing stuff right now

@RadioHedgeFund I don't understand how your point relates to talking to someone while playing the same game. I obviously have that person's contact information I'm playing with but I'm not gonna throw up a Google meets session just to chat with them. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding 😅

Admittedly got into the game when they added Mando, Kratos and Master Chief. I HAD to get Baby Yoda. Played with a friend so it was really nice to have the in-game chat on the Switch, really wish this was integrated into Mario Kart, SSBU, and a lot of other premium multiplayer experiences Nintendo has (looking at you Splatoon 2 & 3!). Here's hoping Nintendo finally grows up with it's online soon so we can talk in parties / with friends without that stupid app, may as well use WhatsApp or Discord as an alternative

Hey just picked up a Series X and absolutely LOVING it. It's a great console that has a ton of 3rd party games the Switch has at a lower price with better graphical fidelity and a lot of old school options. I knew it had backwards compatibility but I can download the first two original Star Wars Battlefront games for $10 each, Star Wars Republic Commando for $10 and all the original Splinter Cell games. Plus Game Pass has a bunch of awesome Bethesda titles (already held out on DOOM Eternal since switch version was more expensive & the graphics are best on Xbox). Sooo anyway. If you're a long time Switch fan like me, highly recommend picking up the Series X. I downloaded over $500 worth of games to it on Day 2 and still have access to so many more games (only paid $1 for game pass to access these games). Please don't kill me in the comments, I own like 70+ Switch titles & it will always have a place with me but MAN am I really impressed with Xbox. If you can afford it & hold out on a few downgraded ports, Xbox is totally worth it!

@VoidofLight yeah this relates to what Kate wrote about how nobody thought it would be possible with Gold / Silver. They did this with LoZ Ocarina of Time amongst other games. Just relating it to the article, it's definitely possible if you look at the massive game worlds that exist today

@VoidofLight Mass Effect does this and a few RPGs do this like Fable, where you can make choices that influence the world and outcome later in the story. It's not so farfetched.

Nice piece. Really nice touch. I hope that Pokemon Arceus starts out as a prequel then...bam you're back in the Pokemon Future living with the decisions you made a thousand years ago in the past. Would be amazing! I loved playing through Silver and remember pulling moves to try and clone items only to accidentally erase my game 😅 absolutely loved playing it over again anyway, easily some of the best Pokemon games of all time

Hadn't finished it on the 3DS but finished Link's Awakening on Switch. Absolutely loved it! They should've priced it at $40 tbh. I sold it shortly after beating the 9-10 hour campaign so it lives on in my dreams instead of my collection of cartridges. Masterpiece of a game but not something I'd return to for probably another few years, too many things on the market and limited time!

@Anri02 lol its semantics. Pokemon Company / Gamefreak is responsible for their brand regardless of the developer they publish for. Guess I see why people are talking about the developer which isn't what I meant to say, but I see your point.

@BulbasaurusRex they can still invest in making this look better, they're a multi-billion dollar company. Sword & Shield could've looked better as well. I plugged around 200 hours into both games combined and have been a big fan of the series but come on. It's 2021! We can and should expect more from them, it's not like they're a struggling indie developer or small time publisher

@Orpheus79V they're funding it and branding it though right? From a brand management perspective they could've used a different studio or given that one more resources. It's the most valuable entertainment brand in the world! Any game publisher or developer would dream to have that amount of resources and support the Pokemon company has

Garbage graphics, looks low effort

Terrible ripoff of a game. Gamefreak truly does the bare minimum for graphics, looks like the 3DS could handle this. Wish they took better advantage of the Switch

@clvr I didn't say any of that about a passion project like he's a dev or anything. It's obvious he is partnering with other people and putting his label on it. He could definitely be a hardcore gamer, but neither of us now right? His first console was rip off roms, probably the second will be similar but could be different, no need to be so judgmental or get worked up about it. I would do something similar if I could, even though I'm not a dev it would be great to launch something if I could, even a cheap device. Could be on his bucket list, could be just for money but we know it's probably somewhere in between because this for SURE will not make much money and probably be a huge business loss.

This is exactly why I cancelled my preorder for the Monster Hunter consile edition. Somebody posted here saying that nintendo would print decals on current models to clear old inventory before a launch of a new Pro model and I completely agree that makes sense. So cancelled my MH Switch console preorder in the hopes we get an upgrade to Pro soon!!!

@JayJ I've got a Lite and my hands get sore after playing any button mashers, fighting games or tight platformers like the Messenger. I probably played WAY too many games on it last year which has led to some pain. Much better D-pad on the hori split pad pro imo, more comfortable for me. I would agree the screen is much better on the Lite! I'll give it a try soon on the Lite, why not, that's a good tip. Worse case if it hurts I just swap right back.

Play this on a split pad pro attachment for the Switch then bump the score up to 9. It's great! Definitely agree the UI is holding it back, hope the Collection fixes / addresses those issues

I bought Match of the Millennium but may have held out for this one. Wish they were more transparent earlier on! MotM id great, so only complaint is I could've received even more games in one 😂

Have been wanting this game FOREVER, even beat the spinoff game. Tbh graphics don't look very good for 2021, looked really choppy, hope we get a demo to see how it holds up. Daemon X Machina looked good until the demo showed real gameplay, which ultimately turned me off from the purchase & saved me $60. Here's hoping for the best!

Saving all money on ports and new releases for the inevitable PS5 / Xbox Series purchase I'll be making. I almost got AC Black Flag on Switch but remembered I bought it on Xbox like 4+ years ago so it's just waiting there in the cloud for me. Plus 4K and 60 FPS does sound nice when I already have Overcooked 2 on Switch

Coming to the end of an era! Like 90s beat em ups and shmups before they fell out of (temporary) style. Looking forward to the inevitable rogue lite renaissance in the 2040s. So many good rogue lites the past few years! Starting to get a bit tired of the genre & excited to see what develops this decade
