After a number of setbacks and delays tied to the pandemic, Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan is finally open for business.
Today was the grand opening, and to celebrate there was a ceremony featuring Nintendo's very own Shigeru Miyamoto. Alongside him was USJ president and CEO, J.L. Bonnier.
Nintendo has shared a number of images on its official Japanese website and below you can see the opening ceremony, Miyamoto walking through the Warp Pipe, and the general public exploring the park. Enjoy!
You can find out even more over on the dedicated park webpage. Would you be interested in visiting Super Nintendo World yourself one day? Leave a comment down below.

I would have screamed hysterically and then fainted to see Miyamoto-dono in person. Especially in a theme park/shrine to his and his team’s brilliant ideas.
This is such a happy and wonderful thing that we really need in this world climate.
It looks magical!
Are we sure that isn’t just a Shigeru Miyamoto mascot though?
@Kienda Nah, it’s not the real one, but it’s not a mascot either. It’s one of the many many Miyamoto clones being grown in Nintendo HQ’s basement.
F*** Covid, seriously. Here‘s hoping this BS takes an end so we can all travel and do stuff like that again.
@Duffman92,
Fingers and toes crossed, would be great to get back to normal at some point.
From what I have seen it all looks very cool and polished. If I lived in the area I would go there (after Corona of course, if that ever ends).
For Shigs this is where it all led to, a huge money making retirement fund.....why bother with your beloved franchises....Starfox, Metroid, F-Zero etc etc. when you can simply sit back and reap the rewards of people paying mega bucks for this!
It's so weird seeing something like this happen from a place where we can't travel too far or meet up with more than 1 person outside... xD
@Ryu_Niiyama I met him in 2003 when he did a signing in Virgin Megastores, London. He signed my GBA SP! I don't remember what I did with it and look on eBay now and see someone's selling one for £50,000! OMG I could've made a fortune.
@HamatoYoshi I have never heard anyone refer to him as "Shigs" but now I want everyone to call him that
I think a big congrats should go out to Nintendo! What other gaming company has their own theme park?
@HamatoYoshi that is the best nickname for Miyamoto ever omg
Why isn’t Mario wearing a mask???
@AgentGuapo because unfortunately he’s selfish like everyone else who chooses not to wear one.
One day...one day...
Covid may have cancelled the Japan holiday last year, but when we can travel again, at least I can experience the Nintendo Theme Park. 😎
They need to pick up the pace for the Hollywood version here! I'll be there first chance (after I spend some time at Duff Brewery of course ).
Very unprofessional, he is not even wearing a mask
Such a great vibe. I believe he doesn't need to act that big smile
Congratulations on this accomplishment
I'm not much of a theme park fan, but I could see myself going there...at least to the gift shop, LUL
@JayJ SEGA
The more we continue to practice safety measures, the sooner we'll be able to go here.
I'm don't think I want to go to either of the ones in the US whenever they open. Neither of the two seem as exciting and I don't trust that those two would be as good as Japan.
That looks so awesomeee! Japan is so freakin lucky! -~-
Shiggy's looking old. Who's the suit with him?
Those burgers appear to have mold.
@Jackpaza0508 Me and my friends have been calling him Shiggsy since I can remember aha
Not to make everyone incredibly envious but I was actually there today and I can confirm, it was every bit as excellent as you might expect.
@Kienda They seriously need big plush mascots not just of Mario and Luigi there, but of Miyamoto, Aonuma, Sakurai, Reggie, and hell, for us old guys throw in Howard Phillips as well!
@VoidofLight Good. The world needs more Miyamoto and less.. everything else. ♥️
The pictures don’t even feel real. It’s like a magical place in a realm outside our own.
@Trajan Haha. Your attempt at being a downer made me giggle. Shigeru Miyamoto is 68 years old, he looks his age. The food decorating is really fun, you should look at some other sources.
This has been my dream since I was a toddler and I would literally do anything to go to this place it's basically heaven for me.
Now us American plebs get to wait for several more years... well, at least we know it'll look fantastic
@aaronsullivan Sorry, I haven't gotten my Nintendo brand Prozac in a long time.
This is my only nintendo source.
Congrats Nintendo, looks wonderful.
That's nice and all but they just had a lockdown couple of weeks ago.
Was planning on being in Osaka in late June.... Thanks Covid
Might make Osaka in April 2022 if its safe
Or just wait until 2025 and drive 8 hours south to Orlando.....
