@kamifox1 You really don't understand much about fighting games, do you? For starters, no. Every fighting game enthusiast will tell you to get an arcade stick,, and even then, many professionals still use the control stick for circular inputs due to the low input buffer in certain fighters that makes it borderline impossible to get complex inputs done. Next thing, I don't care what the fans claim, every single Soul Calibur and Tekken title had some of the most amateurish balancing issues in fighting games, and every Tekken has at least one infinite loop. Them being blindly loyal to their favourites has no merit over that. Then, your idea of perfect balancing is seriously limited. Proper balancing means equal chances regarding advantages and disadvantages between charcter movesets, not the same moves for each character. Look no further than Garou: Mark of the Wolves, which easily has THE best balancing of all fighting games, yet still provides a very distinct cast of characters. Or Guilty Gear, which has some unbelievably crazy characters, yet only has slight issues with tier lists. NamcoBandai doesn't even come remotely close to that. Their fighters are historically unbalanced, which is why many have close to no representation in fighting game tournaments, except for Tekken, which always abides to the "infinite loops = disqualification" rule imposed by the tournament holders. Otherwise, the game would turn into an overglorified version of Divekick (which is also better in terms of balancing, despite being a simple parody): first hit wins.
So, no. You're wrong, simple as that. When you tell me NamcoBandai fighters are well-balanced, I pull off an infinite or abuse overly generous iframes in every single one of them.
Wow, that's neat! The different artstyle is a tad irritating at first, but the defining features are still there, so characters can still be recognized!
But why? This is literally the worst controller I've ever seen since the N64 and XBOX! It lacks control sticks, ZL/ZR are completely misplaced, and the design is appaling! This thing is a perfect testament of NamcoBandai's utter incompetence towards anything related to fighting games! Why would anyone want such an utterly useless and ugly piece of garbage?! ...oh right, because Pokémon.
@lighteningbolt79 Except that this is not true. The retail versions have the same price on other platforms, but all download versions on other consoles are cheaper than 30 bucks, ranging from 20-25€. Also, whether I get this game or not (which I won't, because screw Minecraft) has nothing to do with Mojang being greedy.
@riChchestM All the more reason it has no right to warrant additional money. The stuff is already done, so what's the point? Also, it's not about what kind of DLC content it is, it's simply a matter of principle. The creators actually have the audacity to sell this game for a ludicrous price point right off the bat, and expect even more money from people for some extras. I don't see a single redeeming factor here.
When a game launches with more than 10 DLC packs, there is absolutely nothing positive left to say about it. Minecraft is officially the most shameless and obnoxious ripoff since Angry Birds on consoles and iPhones.
X marks the spot, can't get much easier than that. I've lost my favour for Splatoon after concluding that Nintendo won't actually do anything to expand the game at this point, and online has gotten insufferably dull due to "master sets" becoming increasingly common, which basically eliminates the entire weapon selection barring very few exceptions (and Heavy Splatling is clearly not among them). Unless they actually expand on the singleplayer, that game is over for me.
However, I'm not seeing Shantae or Gunvolt in the 3DS eShop category, Senran Kagura 2 belongs in 3DS retail, Fatal Frame had a retail release (even if it was limited). There's some work to be done here.
Never played Yumi's Odd Oddysey, but Code of Princess was an unbelievable letdown in every aspect (especially trying to be a beat 'em up), so my regrets to see Agatsuma go are very limited.
@aaronsullivan If you're talking about the "End", I suppose you're right. But I hate how the entire thing has no buildup at all, or even some sort of context. You just kill the Ender Dragon, and then we get a very dissatisfying attempt at breaking the fourth wall - but never in the game are you ever given a reason to pursue anything. That's why I tend to forget it serves as the final challenge.
Seems like a cute idea, but I'm not gonna experience any of this unless it's happening on WiiU, either. I spent too much time to just start all over again, and the 3DS version looks too bad for my taste, anyway.
@Yorumi I'm pretty sure a data transfer option was mentioned that would allow you to unlock the 3DS content on the WiiU version, but neither do I know how far that goes, nor do I know if there's going to be some sort of alternative way, if at all.
@TheWPCTraveler I wouldn't know a thing about that, but I see what you mean. Oh well, to each his own.
@aaronsullivan That's very much possible, as my understanding for Minecraft's appeal amounts to "the comfort of repetition". I don't get why this dull toolbox is so popular, and I don't understand why the WiiU version has any anticipation whatsoever. But that's most likely because I don't see anything interesting in games that have no definite end to them. Minecraft, to me, represents some of the worst phenomenon the internet has on offer: terrible Let's Plays, terrible LP communities, loss of sense of reality at young age (something I suffered from, as well), and oversaturation in all directions.
Mind you, however, that this isn't really fair towards the game, and I have no intention of being fair towards Minecraft, anyway, so you can easily dismiss my negativity as me being an annoying person. ^_^
Does anyone even take tumblr seriously? It's for the most part a neat platform, but some of its inhabitants are infamously sickening, to the point that these individuals alone easily ruin each and any potential the site might have. Also, that hipster glasses Pikachu is hate incarnate.
What the hell is VC necessary for in Minecraft? And why did they decide to waste resources on that instead of using the WiiU's features to expand the gameplay? But the biggest joke is that the brand alone makes it all good, apparently. Nevermind the fact that Cube Life: Island Survival already exists on the WiiU, and for a much more tolerable price tag than this.
I'm hardly surprised. If the devs actually had any interest in pushing a proper Minecraft version, they would've done so way sooner. But them not even caring about what the WiiU offers in terms of features goes to show that this is just a lazy cash-grab, and possibly an attempt at downplaying the potential of competitors.
As I said before: and nothing of value was gained.
A petty soundtrack selection is the whole musical range made available officially to the west for now, and even that small handful gets entangled in useless and pointless DRM - it's difficult for me to not think NoA receives their orders from the Infinite Monkey Theory in practice. Either way, that's why I'm getting the actual soundtrack instead of this joke. No DRM, no playback issues, and no accidental erasing of all data. Plus a shiny package and a neat booklet.
@LztheQuack Would be weirdly amusing if that was Sony's doing. ^_^
No idea what it could be, and judging from the progress I made by now, Xenoblade X might very much keep me too busy to find out until a few days later.
Beyond Konami being insufferable douchebags, I barely know anything about what happened at this show. I really don't like these award things where stuff gets a prize without being able to look into the qualification process, since I always assume these events are staged to reel in enough viewers, instead of celebrating good games.
At least Kimishima is aware that they didn't really do a good job forwarding their intentions with mobiles. But that won't save them from failing on the mobile market, either. I'm looking forward to that nosedive...
To anyone who struggles with the plot: watch the first and second Nintendo Treehouse presentation. The hosts do a very good job at giving a proper rundown of the story and protagonists, and once you know the basics, it's actually kinda predictable in its overall structure.
Or, to make it shorter: think PERSONA 4, but Personas are overstylized Fire Emblem characters, there is no Arcana imagery, and the party consists of creative youngsters pursuing a career in japan (which is basicall always related to the idol business or similar pop culture things).
I really love what I'm seeing there! The hypersonic speed class also seems to hold potential for really slick tracks skips, similarly to F-Zero GX, which means it's gonna be a joy to keep trying to kill your previous record!
Aww, man. That's a shame. But hey, at least they were clear about it right off the bat instead of raising false hopes.
@Beechbone I would actually be kinda surprised about that. Child of Light mostly suffered from lazy porting, and I don't know anything about Ori, but what I can tell you is that the Z-Engine, which was used for Skullgirls before, and is being used for Indivisible as well, is one of the most lightweight engines I've seen in quite some time. My outdated garbage PC (which cannot even run AC III at lowest settings) was able to run Skullgirls just fine, and Indivisible, while most likely going to be even more detailed, doesn't appear to require that much more.
What I wouldn't count out, though, is that the Z-Engine itself could struggle to work with the WiiU architecture...

HOOOOOOLY BATMAN ON A CHRISTMAS TREE!! Is this price tag for real?! I was ready and prepared to pay twice the asking price, and now you're starting the game at just 15 bucks?! Take ALL of my money, Shin'en! Also, perfect release date! One week of nothing but Xenoblade X will mark my limit, so this game will be the perfect change of pace for me and my friend!
This is literally old news. Like, this was already known for about half a year. But I hope developers will include such things for a bit of entertainment during long loading times (like GTA V, or Xenoblade X).
What the hell is that about?! If the team wants to conclude the project, that's fine, but what's up with taking down the entire project just like that? That said, I'll continue playing PM, since it offers far more of everything than any other Smash game (well, except for some lore, that is).

@chardir I'd imagine that the point system from now on will be limited to digital purchases, but I'm not sure where Nintendo is going with this.

@LetsGoRetro Ever heard of Project Guard, Project Giant Robot, StarFox Zero, Genei Ibun Roku #FE, Pokkén Tournament, or Twilight Princess HD? Add these to what you were able to recall, and it's obvious Nintendo isn't done with the WiiU yet. Not to speak of the Cloud DLC for Smash.
Also, no. It will not release in 2016. Too many titles awaiting a WiiU release would get the boot in that case, something Nintendo would regret far more than they could benefit from.
@PlywoodStick I doubt they'd do it for TP, since it's already going at 30, and by now, it wouldn't benefit them to go up to 60FPS. But I really hope that the upcoming WiiU Zelda will be up to the task, just for the sake of more fluid animations and controls. Also, I admit I didn't know reverse engineering was prohibited, either. gulp
@FierceRagnar Welp, I was too dense to notice that. And I wasn't aware that "HD remake" isn't a thing, either, since it's so often mentioned when fans demand stuff.
@PlywoodStick 30FPS... blegh. If I didn't already know that this is par for the course with Zelda titles, I would be pretty mad about that. Hopefully, that'll change at some point.
@FierceRagnar A remake that doesn't simply "remake" the game, but also improves the graphical output to at least 720p levels of detail (which is a bit difficult to clearly define, admittedly). Not every remake is automatically HD, after all (see StarFox 64 3D or Ocarina of Time/Major'as Mask 3D for examples).
Now that's what I call an HD remake! Not only does the environment have generally better visuals, but many textures were redone instead of upscaling them. And their ambitions with the actual gameplay sweeten this deal even more! These folks are beating Nintendo at their own game, and I, for one, am very happy about that!
This is basically the culmination of Nintendo's recent disregard for innovation. Maybe it's just a phase, but that doesn't change the deceptive baiting going on behind Amiibo Festival. It's nothing but an amiibo pusher, and even on that task it fails impressively. By all means, I'm glad that Xenoblade X is giving me a good reason not to lend my WiiU to my mother, otherwise she'd have forked over some undeserved cash for this trash...
I absolutely hate F2P for one single reason: it never allows you to play freely, instead pestering you with annoying reminders, in-game paywalls, and/or extremely limited access. I don't care what positives people see in the concept, it's still a terrible model only invented to make gullible or unattentive players pay way beyond game value.
Give me a price for the title, and I'll pay if it's an interesting one. Give me an F2P model, and your game is automatically trash.
All this time, Nintendo kept rambling on that they didn't want to sell standalone GamePads until production and pricing would be tolerable, and THIS is their reasoning point? Does that mean the GamePad is 1/3 of the whole package cost? Maaaan, forget those multi-GamePad posibilities.
@RupeeClock Careful, GamePads are region-locked! You won't be able to connect a japanese one to a european WiiU.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (Wii U)
This is basically the culmination of Nintendo's recent disregard for innovation. Maybe it's just a phase, but that doesn't change the deceptive baiting going on behind Amiibo Festival. It's nothing but an amiibo pusher, and even on that task it fails impressively.
By all means, I'm glad that Xenoblade X is giving me a good reason not to lend my WiiU to my mother, otherwise she'd have forked over some undeserved cash for this trash...
Re: Soon You'll Be Able To Create A Games Store In Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer
Woo... that's SO gonna improve the game...
Re: Europeans Will Be Able To Download Xenoblade Chronicles X's Data Packs Early Next Week
Well, that means Shovel Knight and MH3U get the boot. Nothing will stand between me an the greatest game of the year! NOTHING!!!
@invictus4000 Base pack owners are indeed screwed, but people who have the Black version can just make some space.
Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?
I absolutely hate F2P for one single reason: it never allows you to play freely, instead pestering you with annoying reminders, in-game paywalls, and/or extremely limited access. I don't care what positives people see in the concept, it's still a terrible model only invented to make gullible or unattentive players pay way beyond game value.
Give me a price for the title, and I'll pay if it's an interesting one. Give me an F2P model, and your game is automatically trash.
Re: You Can Now Buy A Replacement Wii U GamePad On Its Own
All this time, Nintendo kept rambling on that they didn't want to sell standalone GamePads until production and pricing would be tolerable, and THIS is their reasoning point? Does that mean the GamePad is 1/3 of the whole package cost? Maaaan, forget those multi-GamePad posibilities.
@RupeeClock Careful, GamePads are region-locked! You won't be able to connect a japanese one to a european WiiU.
