Re: Random: Nintendo Releases a Quirky Fire Emblem Fates Flowchart for Choosing Between Birthright and Conquest

Jayvir

I've played a lot of Fire Emblem games so I'm no stranger to the difficulty, but seeing as I'm getting the special edition, I'm gonna play them in increasing difficulty, so I'm going Birthright first. I'm also playing the entire set on Casual mode.

(I don't find the permadeath fun. It's one reason why I've only finished one FE game before Awakening came out)

Re: Hyper Light Drifter May Not Be Coming to Wii U

Jayvir

So basically Hyper Light Drifter is getting boned because the engine company is being a douche. Lucky for me that I have a PS4 so I can get it either way. This would really suck for people who only have a Wii U. I'd be pretty upset.

Re: Rumour: Final Fantasy VII Remake And XV Headed To NX, Could Be Definitive Versions

Jayvir

Color me interested. If given the choice between getting the games on PS4 and NX, I'd pick the NX. However, I'd assume that at least FFXV will be out before the NX is released and as such, I'll end up getting it on PS4 since I usually get my games as early as possible.

If Nintendo announces NX for this year though (IMO it's unlikely) and if they have some sort of trophy/achievement system too, then there is really no reason for me to get it on PS4 since the NX version has literally everything

Re: Interview: RCMADIAX's Michael Aschenbrener Reflects on his Development Experience and Moving Forward

Jayvir

He should listen to what the complaints are. Ignore negativity is never good. Your negative customers are more valuable than your positive ones. It just takes a certain mindset to handle it, which I am guessing he doesnt have. That's fine but then you should have someone do PR for you and just break it down.

People aren't interested in the bad 10 minute long games like Avoider. Something of substance and original is needed. Super Robo Mouse is probably the only game that had any amount of effort put into it. I went to school for Game Design myself and most of his work is stuff that we'd make for practice, and not something youd release to the public. Its fine if he's practicing, but know when it's appropriate to release a product and not just try to make a quick buck.

I've personally been designing my own game for years (although I'm a designer, not an artist or programmer, though I can code a bit) and I have been trying to find a proper team to put it all together. Even I could use tutorials in Unity and make some easy game but I would have no pride in that. Come up with a unique idea with some meat to it and take your time.

Re: Talking Point: The Time is Right for a Nintendo Direct

Jayvir

There is a lot of buzz about Nintendo right now and they really should be careful about their next Direct. Right now, everyone seems to have NX fever, and if they don't capitalize on that in the correct way, it could backfire. It doesn't even matter if the Direct doesn't cover NX at all, but they need to at least play off the hype and tease it more. The rest of the content will be inconsequential

Re: Review: Shütshimi (Wii U eShop)

Jayvir

@andrea987 What's with the attitude? My god, you seem to be awfully sensitive for no reason. It's pretty noticeable when you resort to trying to tag my age, and fail to do so correctly. You know what they say about assumptions.

I was trying to help since you called it an endless runner, and it's not. It is a shoot-em-up. The genre of shmup doesn't require an ending. Even those that do usually just loop to the first level again. Even the games name is a portmanteau that points to such. Perhaps try not be so hostile when someone is trying to be helpful, "my friend".

Re: Review: Space Hulk (Wii U eShop)

Jayvir

I'm a fan of Warhammer but I can't justify this purchase when it's so much cheaper on other platforms. This tends to happen with a lot of Wii U releases and it's frustrating.

Re: Video: See What You Can Expect in the Gargantuan Ten Hour Bravely Second Demo

Jayvir

I don't even need to read who wrote the article to be able to tell it was Alex that wrote this. His verbiage and mannerisms are always present, whether its the videos or articles. I mean that as positively as humanly (and inhumanly) possible

That aside, I can't imagine the Bravely Second demo would be much further away that the European release. If so, then thats pushing it really close to the full games release, which no es bueno

Re: Review: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (Wii U eShop / GBA)

Jayvir

The law system could REALLY get in the way here and enemies could abuse breaking the law with no penalty while half of your team could be sent to jail. It's very unfair. I much preferred Tactics A2's approach where if you uphold the law, you get rewarded with extra gil/items but if you break it, you simply are not allowed to revive for that fight. All in all, the story in this game is really the only thing it has over A2. Still a fantastic game and highly recommended if you can't find a copy of A2.

I certainly feel like I'm one of the very few who prefer Tactics Advance and A2 over War of the Lions. The story in WotL is fantastic, but I found the gameplay far more refined and satisfying in Advance and A2, which is to be expecting considering they are far newer games.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Removes 'Petting' Feature in Western Localisation

Jayvir

Considering this was an incredibly stupid addition to the game that literally added in nothing beneficial, it doesn't affect my enjoyment of this game. I get the feeling that if anything, it's inclusion would only serve to harm the games image in Western territories anyways. Especially since Nintendo always seems to have a bullseye on their backs regarding any localization changes when EVERY company does it. Yet somehow, only Nintendo gets hardped on.

Re: Weirdness: Super Mario 64 Expert Collects a Star in 0.5 'A' Button Presses

Jayvir

@Fidu It's not just a release though. You didn't get the full picture. They had actually pressed the button a long while ago but carried that hold through until that level (in theory). They are still holding that button and releasing it when necessary. That hold is a very key point of what they are trying to do as the effect comes from the hold, not the release. Honestly, he explained it quite succinctly in the video. It makes sense.

In any case, the "half A press" term is probably just a term they came up with anyways so they weren't saying a really long phrase every time. The community knows what it is, so that's all that really matters.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th January (Europe)

Jayvir

I'm not downloading it but I'm buying Final Fantasy Explorers tomorrow physically. It's been a while since I've had a PSO-type game so I'll give it a whirl. It doesn't look like Monster Hunter from what I've seen so no idea why that comparison is made. It's definitely more of a standard MMO-style game

I am tempted on Tactics Advance but A2's gameplay is so much better and it doesn't suffer from the horrible law system Advance had. Too bad the story sucks in A2 so... yeah. There's that. I'll just continue to play A2

Re: Video: Square Enix Pitches a Famous Legacy in Final Fantasy Explorers Trailer

Jayvir

I think the only thing that could prevent it from being a hit is if it lacks the challenge that Monster Hunter provides. I've tried other hunting games like Toukiden and Freedom Wars and they just are more hack and slash and I can get through the hardest missions without being hit. If this can blend more of the MonHun difficulty in it, I know i'd be happy

Re: Pokkén Tournament Modes and Details Emerge

Jayvir

@Phantom_R Probably because the game needs to run the same fight from two different angles. Remember that the Gamepad is needed and it shows the fight from that particular fighter's side. The player on the TV has the fight shown from their side. Not really the same as Smash. Still a bummer though

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th January (North America)

Jayvir

Hmm... not a lot of love for Warhammer here? Space Hulk is supposed to be a pretty good game.

@Mr-X9000 It was originally a board game. This version is based on the recent PC iteration. There may have been an older version of it since the board game came out in '89, but this ain't it. It reminds me more of the Mystery Dungeon games actually.

Re: Talking Point: Considering amiibo Features and the Reality of 'Physical DLC'

Jayvir

No matter the functionality of amiibo, people are going to hate how its implemented. They could do anything with it, but someone who doesn't want an amiibo would complain that they wouldn't have access to it. If its too little of a feature, then people will complain about it. If it unlocks meaningful content, then people will complain about it. There is practically nothing that can be done with amiibo that will not upset those two groups.

Re: Poll: Are You Optimistic About Nintendo's 2016?

Jayvir

When it comes to actual Wii U releases, we know of practically nothing aside from Star Fox... and even that might be delayed further. 3DS is a bit better at least.SMT x FE and Zelda are supposedly coming. At least a some point. Possibly. But what else? 3 Wii U games is a drop in a bucket. That's honestly pretty terrible unless they come out swinging with some announcements REALLY soon.

As for future prospects, this year shows immense promise. My Nintendo accounts are coming, plus the whole NX thing on the horizon. If handled correctly, both of those could be one hell of a way to sustain hype.

As a whole, I'm apprehensive for Nintendo in 2016. Their future looks promising, but their present looks horrendous.

Re: Giveaway: Grab Yourself a Free Copy of Cube Life: Island Survival

Jayvir

Funny how I joined in on this giveaway AND did all 7 entries through their own site for one of the 1000 giveaways and apparently didn't win. You wouldn't think that more than a thousand people would care about a Minecraft knockoff, especially considering the hoops you had to jump through the get entered on their site. Did anyone actually win from there? I'd like to think shenanigans just to get twitter followers...

So is there any verdict on whether or not Temple of Yog was a pile of ____ or not? I don't think I've seen a single review for the game and not much coverage overall for it. The premise seemed cool but that could work very differently in practice
