@AcridSkull No, not really; I played a little the other day. (It was Tower Control.) Didn't seem any different to me than when it was free to play online.
@Paulman4ever It's a pretty good game, especially as a party game played with others. Online play only, though? Meh. There's way too much latency/ping issues to recommend it. This is a "twitch" game where reflexes/timing (in addition to teamwork) are important. If there's even the slightest delay, it might just ruin your fun.
"Broken Sword 5 was first released in 2013 – the very same year as the celebrated Gone Home. But while The Fullbright Company’s tender first-person exploration title feels as fresh in 2018 as it did five years ago..."
Not to be that guy, but was anyone expecting to use these with any other game? There's a grand total of six buttons, which is much less what other games use.
I thought I heard that the game was fine with recording when it was released on the Switch. What changed between then and now? Poor optimization? It's their engine
I'm kind of intrigued even though I don't play the game.
I'm hearing pre-orders for those Arcade1Up cabinets from GameStop are pretty healthy. (They're 3/4 scale.)
As a teenager during the 80's, I don't remember sticky floors. Maybe some cig smoke here and there. I definitely do remember "quarter queues" (they'd put their quarters up on the marquee of the machine to let the current player know they wanted to play next after he was done).
My physical copy of Octopath Traveler (as all my other physical Switch copies of games) says "Made in Japan." (I'm in the USA, if that matters. I heard distribution is different in regions of the world.)
Love this game. I'm about 25 hours in. Have all 8 travelers. I keep pulling myself every which way. ("Should I do Oberic's Chapter 2 next?" "No, wait! What's this? Oooo, it's another shrine!")
I like Super Bomberman R...I'm just mystified at some of the design decisions, like locking the stages behind the game's currency. Past Bomberman games just let you play them out of the gate.
I also missed not being able to customize items like in past games. And where are Line Bombs? Dangerous Bombs? Too OP? Items like those made the game chaotic but fun.
Bayonetta 2, as great as it is, wasn't going to be in that list, just based upon the fact that's an M-rated game (and for good reason). Still sold a healthy amount, though. Even I didn't know what to expect when I first picked it up. But I love it with its over-the-top ass-kicking witch panache. xD
You guys at Nintendo Life are focusing on the wrong elements, not to mention comparing apples to oranges.
Minus Splatoon 2's technical issues (namely, its peer-to-peer model and especially its tick rate), it's a great game. Where the game absolutely shines is in its local LAN play (where you can actually communicate with your teammates) and Salmon Run. The game literally screams, "PLAY ME AT A LAN PARTY OR GET-TOGETHER!" (You'll note this is no different from the other multiplayer offerings like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or even Overcooked.)
There's a reason why Nintendo decided not to have voice chat with strangers. You'd have to be a simpleton to not figure out why.
I haven't even bothered with Fortnite or Paladins. I just have no interest.
@NEStalgia: They do the reset with Rank X, don't they? I don't know offhand; the highest I've maintained is S+. (Oh, the trials and tribulations of a charger main...)
I'm really, really picky at what I buy to begin with, so this is a big nothingburger to me.
The only thing I use the eShop for is to get what I'm looking for and nothing more. It's not my fault people can't separate the chaff from the wheat. Ask around or use YouTube to see "let's play"-style videos if you're on the fence about something.
It's clear, based upon the bestsellers on the eShop, that people will buy quality, well-done games to begin with.
Had my Switch since about a month after launch. Other than a some slight scuffing, I don't see any cracks. I pretty much take care of it, including dusting and maintenance. I take my blower for my camera and use that for the Switch's vent and intakes.
This could be a case of which lots of units were made where. (Batch or serial numbers?) I remember they were trying to get them out as fast as they could make them during the sellout craze. Wouldn't surprise me if some units slipped through the QA cracks in the process. (No pun intended.)
One of the most underrated franchises out there. Even though I finished Bayonetta 1 and 2 a little while ago, I love going back into 2 just to kick ass. Bayonetta 3 is a day one purchase for me. (I was sad nothing was announced at E3, but maybe they're saving it all for a Direct.)
@rjejr Don't ever let a losing streak get you down and salty; we all get them. I'm at S or above in everything but Clam Blitz. (Think I'm A- but can't remember offhand.) Can't say I didn't fight for it all, especially being a charger main. (Mostly E-Liter, depending on mode/map.)
Can't let modes like Ranked get to you for the reasons I stated before. Playing Ranked is like playing with half a chess set due to you being just a quarter of the team's equation. Your teammates have to be good too, especially without thorough communication.
Salmon Run is an awesome diversion from the salt that is PvP...unless you get terrible teammates. (And it happens.) Like Ranked, it really shines when you can communicate with friends.
@SlimeKnight There's only so much you can do as part of a team, especially if they're strangers. You're much better off playing in a League or playing locally. Even Salmon Run suffers from the lack of communication between strangers. It may seem I'm denigrating the lack of communication between strangers; I'm not. I prefer it this way. I don't need a 12-year-old I don't even know trash-talking me.
The World Championship showed what the game is capable of when friends/players communicate.
Back on-topic: This new expansion has been great so far. I wasn't a fan of the octo oven fight, though. Not only do you have to deal with the oven but several enemies perched on top of the oven, including snipers in the last phase. I didn't (totally) die but it was...decidedly not easy.
When I was moderating a Photoshop jam (basically, a marathon where Photoshop and its user's artworks were featured), one of Adobe's poor evangelists---who was up for more than 24 hours---accidentally launched the beta version of Photoshop (which no one other than everyone involved in the beta had access to) in front of everyone, live, over the Internet.
We were cracking up behind the digital curtain. He quickly realized what he had done and closed it down. It was a big nothingburger though, other than being good for a chuckle. We all lived. He still has his job. xD
But this? I don't get how this was a slip. They're icons. How else are they supposed to get access to whatever's on the console?
Am I the only one who found this kind of anemic? (The bits where he simply walked off the ledge were funny, though.)
The title of the article was clickbait; I thought the head honchos over at LEGO went crazy for a second there until I found out it was fan-made. Seriously, what's next? Bayonetta, Infinite Climax LEGO? Let's be serious, here. lol
I hate to be that guy, but what makes this table any worse than the convoluted messes that are FX3's tables? Sometimes, simpler is better. I honestly don't like most of what Zen offers. (Honestly, they were going to forget about patching Pinball FX3 doing 60fps handheld until there was a stink.) I'm finding The Pinball Arcade much better, especially with classic tables like Black Hole.
Man, the amount of salt this subject has produced...
I'll be getting a subscription day one. I don't care what any of you think. lol
@Grumblevolcano People are going to have to face the fact that any "twitch" game like Smash Bros. is at the mercy of Internet latency. It has to be practically instantaneous. No amount of online service quality is going to change that at all.
I remember seeing this on a friend's Sega CD system. What I remember is Dana Plato (from Diff'rent Strokes fame; RIP), the postage-sized stamped video, limited color palette and just general overall weirdness.

I basically went in blind with Bayonetta 2. I'm glad I did. I even got my brother in on it. He watches me play just for the zany, over-the-top story that even has a lot of heart. I'm definitely buying Bayonetta 3 when that rolls out.
(I bought a physical copy. I'm in the US.)
