RE: The port issue: What critics don't get is the fact that Bayonetta 3 is coming. People who never played 1 & 2 and own a Switch but not the Wii U (like me) are genuinely interested. So what to do? Why, release the first two on the system many gamers own and missed out on, of course!

RE: The "sexualization" issue. Speaking as a guy that lives like a monk, just stop, please. Bayonetta is a badass witch that kicks ass and takes names. How else do you want her to be represented? A frumpy cat lady with blue hair that wears muumuus and birkenstocks? xD

(I love cats, BTW.)

Re: Review: Arcade Archives Crazy Climber (Switch eShop)

Seeing some salt in the comments is hilarious.

Games like this were meant to be played in short bursts until mastered because---surprise!---they're arcade games. (The difficulty should come as a surprise to no one.) Luckily, the Switch is a perfect fit for this genre.

My only complaint is that I still can't organize all the retro goodness into one folder on the Switch.

Re: Nintendo Software Dominates The Week's Japanese Charts

I really don't care one way or the other. Monster Hunter doesn't interest me all that much. It scored high on Metacritic but hasn't come close to topping Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey. (Be honest: Did anyone expect it to? lol )

By contrast, games like Splatoon didn't score all that high yet is number 3 after being out for months.

The sheer number of Switch titles on the list is amazing, even if they didn't outsell Monster Hunter World combined. Breath of the Wild didn't sell as many copies there total (so far) but I still consider it to be one of my best gaming experiences ever. /shrug

Re: Review: Darkest Dungeon (Switch eShop)

Really like the game--which may or may not have been done by sadists---but never dive into this game without doing some research first. (There's a big wiki online.) Even the tips and so-called tutorials when starting a game don't do it justice.

They need to fix the text looking too small undocked (which can be remedied a bit by turning up the brightness).

And sometimes I wish some game designs were done a bit better. e.g., I'd like to glance at the torch's level without squinting and having to press ZL every time just to make sure. It's also very annoying when my group is walking through a hallway and there's really no indication as to when the torchlight goes down other than visual cues. It's bad enough I have to watch for traps that are extremely hard to see.

Re: Soapbox: Is Super Mario Odyssey the Best Mario Game Ever?

@holygeez03 Prepare for the hair-pulling where Dark Side is concerned. (Darker Side was just an exercise in patience. Dark Side was made by sadists.)

I don't have a "best" Mario game; I love them all with their quirks. This would be like asking me who's my favorite Baroque composer.

Re: Splatoon 2 Has Become The First Home Console Game This Decade To Sell 2 Million Copies In Japan

Iacobus

As much as I love Splatoon 2, the one criticism I have is that the solo matchmaking can be terrible, plus you just can't jump into an objective-based mode like Rainmaker or Tower Control while solo without going into Ranked. Best bet while solo is Salmon Run and even that can get frustrating if teammates don't know what they're doing.

This game shines when you do it with friends or teammates you can communicate with; not so much when alone.

Re: Nintendo's Damon Baker Hints At An Even Bigger Year For Switch in 2018

(Take note I'm from the USA; I don't know what ratings you guys use elsewhere.)

I think what Anti-Matter is trying to say is that a lot of M-rated games are done purely with an M-rating in mind, because I guess it sells according to the suit-and-tie guys. (Look at the attitude some people have towards superb games like Super Mario Odyssey.) Doesn't mean every M-rated game is bad (games like Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the GameCube come to mind; that game was trippy in a very Lovecraftian way) and not every E-rated game is great but it does get a little tiring when blood and gore are an actual selling point.

Personally, I roll my eyes a lot when I see another "survival horror" or online shooter like Call of Duty. It's few and far between that I get interested in titles like the forthcoming "Layers of Fear." I'm much more excited for Animal Crossing for the Switch---if and when it gets announced, that is. I'm almost expecting something revolutionary for that series since they practically turned both Mario and Zelda on their heads. (An actual landscape you can wander around in instead of the "rolling log" effect? A guy can dream.)

Re: Review: Stern Pinball Arcade (Switch eShop)

Iacobus

I'm going to get this on physical at some point. I'll definitely get The Pinball Arcade when that comes out. I really like the vibe they went with as I like reading histories and ads and whatnot. I wish Namco did the same with Namco Museum but all that was in there were the games, the year published and some of the cabinet art. I would have loved to browse cabinets and their art. I guess I'll take anything though. lol

Re: Here’s Why Traditional Dungeons Got Axed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Iacobus

@ThanosReXXX If there's anything I want to make clear, I loved BotW, full stop.

When I buy a title (1st party or not) Nintendo routinely sends me surveys asking my opinion of the game in question. They've done this so far for BotW, Splatoon 2 and even games like Namco Museum.

I'm certainly happy to give my feedback. (e.g., I love Splatoon 2 but the game hits its stride when playing with friends in League or LAN play locally. Solo play in Ranked is an exercise in plumbing the depths of a salt mine. That's to be expected for a game where communication is crucial in a team-oriented goal.)

Re: Here’s Why Traditional Dungeons Got Axed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Iacobus

I'm pretty torn on this. I loved both approaches. (I don't know why Wind Waker received so much flak; it's still one of my favorite Zelda games. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if they brought the HD version over to the Switch.)

Maybe a mixture of both? I don't know how that would work, though, in the grand scheme of things. I do miss the unique items, though, like the Iron Boots and weapons like the boomerang.

Re: Guide: Super Mario Odyssey: Moon Kingdom Power Moon Locations And Walkthrough

@SimplyCinnamon53 ***SPOILER ALERT***

Darker Side? That's currently the last moon I have left too (other than the ones you buy). I got tripped up with that too but it looks like one has to do hat dives to reach the forks.

Darker Side really isn't too hard; just a lot of learning about what's going on at certain segments. I thought parts like Vanishing Road (without Cappy) was much harder.
