Nintendo will not go this route but stick to their voice chat app (or adapter) or whatever. That is my speculation.
The only reason I can see for the Switch using this method of voice chat is INTEGRATION, as Fortnite is cross platform on the PC and the Xbox and it is needed to communicate with players on these other systems.
I seriously doubt the Nintendo voice app will work across platforms. Nintendo just about want it to work on Nintendo systems.
I really don't care for chat on Nintendo systems, however this is very good news for those that do.
For those that want to use the chat feature in docked mode get a long extension cable or a cheap Bluetooth trans/receiver that plugs into the headphone jack if you want to go wireless.
My TV's built in Bluetooth doesn't work with my "very expensive" headphones so I had to purchase such a Bluetooth device from Amazon. Works really great.
I just cannot understand the weird mentality of those that moan about voice chat. Its an OPTION. Don't use it if you don't want it.
My nephews (along with countless other kids) have PS and Xbox with voice chat and with good parenting it is not a problem.
@Alex78 AAA games are generally around £49.99 on PS4 and XBOX and Switch.
Amazon UK sells Nintendo games far cheaper than the Nintendo eshop and other retail outlets. For example I paid £40 for MK8D at Amazon when it is £50 in the UK eshop.
@electrolite77 @Guddy
While I cannot argue with your points my reasoning for believing that there are many double dippers is (whilst not scientific) largely based on comments around the internet, including this site.
"I'll defo buy this game again on the Switch" dominates a lot of Nintendo Game News comment sections referencing re-releases on YouTube, fansites, wherever.
Obviously it proves nothing so you could be right. However I do THINK there is a lot of double dipping.
@link3710
Yes that is correct but I was basing that query on ALL games INCLUDING third parties announced UP TO THIS POINT. So with those 3rd party games thrown in that ratio grows.
However thanks very much for the information you provided.
@FTL
You are right and I agree. However MK8 breaks that cast. It's sales on the WiiU would have been excellent on any system regardless. However bringing it back to the Switch may have well proven your point as well.
In the history of consoles has any console ever had such a high percentage of remakes, rereleases or whatever you wish to call them of ALL IT's retail games?
Don't get me wrong it makes good business sense for Nintendo to do this when they have such loyal fans that will easily double dip or even triple dip for what is pretty much the same game but this is surely unprecedented.
I never got it on the WiiU so for those like me, it's great. I was just wondering, that's all.
I mean MS and Sony does it but usually these rereleased games are heavily discounted. In Nintendo's case the price is USUALLY as a new release. Both 1st and 3rd party.
@GrailUK
While I do understand and to a certain degree agree with what you are saying, I however, think all information whether positive or negative should be welcomed on this site. Life is not all roses (please don't think I am giving a lecture, I am not).
I am with you 100% in terms that we should get a lot less (if any) of what is NOT coming to the Switch.
I'd rather focus on what IS coming to the Switch but realistically there is not that much news about such to keep a site going unless you keep going over the same old news.
So funny, fanboys. “I hate CoD so I don’t care if it is on the Switch”. Yeah, it’s all about you. I don’t care a rat’s tail about CoD either but would NEVER not want a big annual release on the Switch.
“Third parties are running to the Switch”. Yes, with old ports. Fanboys don’t want brand new third party titles but happy as Larry with old ports. Crazy.
All consoles have ports, that is true. However Nintendo’s seems ridiculously high. Of all Nintendo retail/cartridge games, how many are ports? What percentage?
Smash games are very similar. Annual Racing games like F1 are. Sport games like a FIFA are. It’s the mechanics within the gameplay that changes slightly while everything else (like the same stadium and tracks) remain.
What I am trying to say is whether Smash is a port or new, it is the kind of game that it makes little difference, like F1. Just give it a few tweaks, some new characters, some new fighting platforms and boom.
All Nintendo has to do is just change the backgrounds of the WiiU version, port it over and say it is a new game. Of course throw in some new characters and maybe add a story mode. That’s what they would with a port anyway.
Nintendo missed a trick here. They should have priced it at $75. I believe fanboys will not complain about this price. Milking fanboys is a business, nothing wrong with that. Apple does it, others do it, why not Nintendo?
Release it on the next console as well in a few years time for even more money.
Seriously though, DK is not Mario Kart. I can see a Bayonetta2 like result.
Unfortunately you are right, digital is the future. It’s also a big ripoff.
I can buy games £10 or more cheaper than the digital prices in the typical eShop from Amazon.
I have friends and relatives that own the Switch and we all more or less agree to buy physical.
We have copied Nintendos slogan. “Share the joy”.
Please do not think I am telling or even suggesting to you how to spend your money.
@MongolRaider I understand what you are saying but I don’t think the Switch is losing momentum. The older consoles have a solid library and even more important their base models are being sold at a far better price. Although Switch won the 2017 holidays NPD it was still a small percentage win.
I agree that without Pokemon etc, Switch sales won’t rocket but even without Pokemon I don’t see any significant shift in the USA sales this year with a good Nintendo Direct.
Europe is Sony land generally speaking and Japan is Switch country more or less.
Nintendo predicted 20m sales in 2018 (the Switch’s second fiscal year). As things stand right now that ain’t happening. Without Pokemon that ain’t happening. That’s why I am sure Pokemon is coming this holiday.
@Nincompoop That’s exactly my opinion of Nintendo TV consoles this century. “Good” followed by “not so good”... or the other way around.
It’s like success in this particular part of the industry goes to their heads and they get too confident or following a failure they wake up and see things more clearly.
I suppose they can carry on doing this as long as the successes more than makes up for the “not so good” times.
The big difference is that in the past these “not so good” times were usually financially taken care of, or covered up by the huge success of their dedicated handhelds.
Got this game during a Steam sale. For the price you couldn’t go wrong. It wasn’t the ultimate bundle of the game or anything like that but probably a later version than the reported Switch version.
Considering what I paid for it then I find the Switch price of this old game very amusing.
But hey, I guess it’s worth whatever an individual is willing to pay for it.
And I agree. I do not care what one does as long as they are not hurting me or mine, or to a lesser degree anyone else. A person tattooing themselves is not hurting me or anyone else.
Where I stand up and am ready for war is when I consider the actions of an individual/party is “too much” or gone “too far”.
This is of course subjective.
The spineless ones are those that turn a blind eye to the wrongs that are within their power to put right.
That’s how I see it, but to each their own opinion.
Nintendo Life please do not go down this path. If you only report the full charts when the Switch hardware is comprehensively on top that is not good journalism.
Yes I KNOW you are pro Nintendo but that’s not the point.
Deliberately not reporting certain facts is poor. Just a step down (or up) from lying. That’s what politicians do.
Why not report the PS4 and XBOX numbers also? I am a Nintendo fan but still want that information which I was happy to get from this site but now must look elsewhere.
Not that in this internet age that is a problem but nonetheless...

I don’t and will probably never tattoo but kudos to those that want to.
I am one of those who (usually) see no major difference, if any, between 30fps and 60fps. Just the way my eyes or whatever work, can’t help that. I say “usually” because in really fast action games I can sometimes tell the difference. I doubt I will be able to tell the difference in RL. However anything in mid twenties is very noticeable, regardless.
So I guess I am one of the few in this case that goes for max resolution and prettier graphics.
Spain is PLayStation country, like most of Europe. To outsell the Xbox One in less than a year shows what the Spanish think of Xbox, and how the Switch appeals to many.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Nintendo is a business and a business wants your money.
While I agree that charging full whack for a quick and easy WiiU port is a bit harsh but if I was Nintendo I would do the same thing.
I like Nintendo but I understand their job is to take fanboys money by any means necessary. If Nintendo believe they will pay $100 for an old remake that’s what they will charge them.
Take Tropical Freeze, for me personally I will buy the WiiU version second hand for £6 from CeX or brand new for a bit more.
How others choose to spend their money is up to them.
Me too. The more you learn about it the more you realise how great it is, or rather how great it can be.
Still I rather learn more about something (or someone) before coming to a conclusion rather than fanboy blindness or opposing fanboy hate leading me to a decision, but to each their own way.
At last all those features and tech built into the joy cons are being utilised in a way most of us NEVER saw coming.

Oh, Thanks. No wonder I was confused. I only bought it on cartridge a couple or so weeks ago and I knew it was released as a launch title. Thanks again for clearing that up.
The article claims that the titles in the lists are “DIGITAL-ONLY”. Forgive my ignorance but “Snipperclips: cut it out together” is also on cartridge therefore should not be in that list.
@TheLobster Don’t forget the gambling. I knew they had connections with powerful Yakuza but wasn’t aware of the “love hotels”. Let’s call it what it was. Sex for sale.

Selling pieces of cardboard, excellent. Shareholders rejoice. I wish I still had my Ninty shares. At least my close relatives does. They had more faith in Nintendo than I did.
Hope this is a success and push share prices up to 60.
No, I am just stating the article is badly written. The article is ALL about SOFTWARE and nothing about HARDWARE. The headline is about hardware demand struggles.
A few weeks on a journalism course still haunts me.
No you are right. It does fly of the shelves.
My reasoning is simple. Nintendo upped production to meet its 10m forecast sales. They had to.
Looking at Media Create in Japan, sales are still very good but dropping.
In January ALL sales will drop. By February they will be significantly down again. This is a natural trend with all consoles and pretty much ALL tech. The Switch is not “new” anymore and the holidays are over.
In other words the article is making Nintendo “look bad”. Like not being able to deliver. To others of course it will be a positive.
Game shortages are a bit weird in 2018 when thereis a digital option, don’t you think?
But it is selling less now than it ever was in Japan, although it is still selling very well.
I don’t get it seeing they did maintained far more the sales globally in the previous months. Also check NPD. The December NDP will clear this up.
If Nintendo is to meet their goal of 20m this year then shortages is a bad way to start seeing that they would need to greatly up production already.
This makes no sense. The article is talking about games flying off the shelves.
In the article there is no information on the Switch hardware shortages that is highlighted in the headline.
@bLiNdSiDe82
I don’t see how such a basic game cannot possibly be 1080@60fps.
I mean there are graphically much better eshop games that easily achieve this base on numerous reviews I have read.
I am not saying that is definitely the case but I would be extremely surprised if it wasn’t.
Yeah, I want everything updated.. and .. yeah. That’s all I want.
I don’t really care about anything apart from updates that make the system work better, but, I do find the interface rather bland when in TV mode, although it is perfect for handheld mode. But it’s not the end of the world.
If memory serves me correctly (and it rarely does) Nintendo finally lost some lawsuit regarding the Wii remote last year and had to pay $10m.
That was a good result considering that pretty much everyone had a lawsuit against the Wii remote technology from launch day, or rather when they figured out it would be very successful.
I think the biggest threat was to ban EU sales of the console.
These things happen all the time are are not always successful
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Your past “crimes” against the Switch makes you a target. Even if you said the most factual or intelligent thing ever, there are those that will discredit it out of principle. I have noticed it before.
In my case there are many people that “bully” rather that argue a point and when I fail to respond they assumed I have conceded the argument, rather than the truth which is “life to too short to respond to these “a word I cannot use”.
It never ceases to amaze how seriously obsessed and emotional some get over a piece of silicon in plastic call a Nintendo Switch.

Depends on the upping.
Nintendo clearly stated they upped production to meet their revised figure for first year sales.
They also clearly stated they will up production again to meet a new 2018 figure, IN 2018.
Adding a couple more pizzas to an order is not the same as adding an additional 100. That’s just stupid to assume that.
Any big company has a production that be slightly scaled based on initial sales, whether to be scaled back or increased.
It’s called planning.

Re: Zelda, Mario Kart And Xenoblade Selling Like Hot Cakes In Japan As Nintendo Struggles To Meet Switch Demand
@johnvboy
Re: Zelda, Mario Kart And Xenoblade Selling Like Hot Cakes In Japan As Nintendo Struggles To Meet Switch Demand
Journalism at its best.
Re: Review: Furi (Switch eShop)
@bLiNdSiDe82
I don’t see how such a basic game cannot possibly be 1080@60fps.
I mean there are graphically much better eshop games that easily achieve this base on numerous reviews I have read.
I am not saying that is definitely the case but I would be extremely surprised if it wasn’t.
Re: Nintendo Direct Hype Is Slowly Turning The Internet Insane
If this Direct falls flat ....
Nah, I have more faith in this new Nintendo era. So far.
Nintendo of America playing games (no pun) to increase hype. Hype sells. I love it.
Re: Video: With All These Rumours, What Could Actually Be in Switch Firmware Version 5.0?
Yeah, I want everything updated.. and .. yeah. That’s all I want.
I don’t really care about anything apart from updates that make the system work better, but, I do find the interface rather bland when in TV mode, although it is perfect for handheld mode.
But it’s not the end of the world.
Re: Nintendo is Suing Mobile Game Company Colopl For $40 Million
If memory serves me correctly (and it rarely does) Nintendo finally lost some lawsuit regarding the Wii remote last year and had to pay $10m.
That was a good result considering that pretty much everyone had a lawsuit against the Wii remote technology from launch day, or rather when they figured out it would be very successful.
I think the biggest threat was to ban EU sales of the console.
These things happen all the time are are not always successful
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Re: Soapbox: Why You Should Consider Catching Big Air With Wii's Excite Truck
oh man. Thinking about the good times I had playing this game makes me feel old.
Ah, nostalgia.
Re: Nintendo of Russia Appears to Confirm Incoming Nintendo Direct
I don’t know when in January is the Direct but I do know it is the only one I have ever look forward to with such eagerness.
