The original This Is The Police brought a unique balance of procedural police investigation and resource management when it was ported over to Nintendo Switch last year, and it was clearly a great fit because publisher THQ Nordic and developer Weappy Studio has confirmed the sequel - This Is The Police 2 - is slated for release on PC and consoles later this year.
Unlike the inner city setting of the first instalment, TITP2 operates out of the remote and snowy border town of Sharpwood, where smugglers, gangs and worse have made themselves at home. You'll strap on the the boots of new sheriff Lilly Reed, who has to contend with Sharpwood's criminal underworld, its unusual inhabitants and her own uncooperative colleagues. There's been plenty of tweaks to the gameplay, including adding distinct personalities to each member of your police force. The official synopsis has us sold...
"Just like the first game, This Is the Police 2 is a mixture of adventure and management genres, and this time it enjoys further unexpected mechanics that will strengthen both the strategic and tactical parts of the game. It won’t be enough just managing the equipment of your policemen and keeping in mind their individual skills. Every challenge requires the player’s direct participation, and the outcomes will depend on every decision you make. Now your subordinates aren’t just some resource; they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices, and you'll have to reckon with all these things in order to survive."
With a release tentatively penciled in for 2018 on Nintendo Switch, This Is The Police 2 looks to be an arresting, Fargo-esque new experience. Let us know what you think of this announcement...

The first one was ..OK. Here is hoping the second is better.
This is great news! I enjoyed the first game, although it was a little too long. Well worth the price
@Hotfusion - Depends what they learned from the first. Should have more content at least since there already is a structure.
... I'm gonna have to deal with THAT GUY, if I decide to get this game? o-0
Haven't played the original yet but fully intend to. Looks interesting.
Not going to play the first one while it's priced 30€.
Just hope John st John comes back in some form to keep this one from being another borefest like the original
Slash the first one’s price to hype for the second’s release.
I am just a few days away from finishing the first game. I have enjoyed it overall and I am interested in this sequel.
Can anyone confirm if the switch version of the first one has the sandbox mode?
I have the first one on my GameFly list still, hopefully it'll come to me next so I can see if this well, "series", is worth my time. It's one part Adventure game, so it has my attention already. Hats off to that trailer and the voice acting... not bad
ACG really liked the first. I bought it but never played it beyond the intro.
Hopefully the sequel is a tad more forgiving in certain areas than its predecessor; one time, I sent my entire A Shift (8 or 9 officers, most with scores well over 500, 3 had a score over 800) to a raid on the port, with SWAT and paddy wagon support, and all but one of them got killed. Another time, half of my B Shift just flat-out did not show up for work. I somehow got myself into a death spiral around the the final third of the game all because of a Catch-22 — City Hall was mad at me for not doing my job, but I couldn't do my job because City Hall was mad at me and made me keep laying off officers — and just stopped caring.
But I look forward to giving this a try, and might even re-download the first one to try and finish it.
Didn't the first game come out just a couple months ago? Wow, they aren't wasting any time.
