Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Launches On Switch In April, Features Splatoon Inklings

Hotfusion

Sure it will be great for new Switch owners and those who didn't get it on the WiiU but I rather spend my money on something new rather the same game I'd been playing for the last few years.

Come to think of it how much do games cost?

If it is greatly reduced like Sony did with The Last of Us then "maybe" but if it is full price I consider that exploitation of my person.

Re: Nintendo Switch Will Cost £279.99 In The UK

Hotfusion

I think that price is just about in the ballpark for most, just.

The WiiU is like a fisher price low quality piece of plastic and that cost the same price now. That's what is ridiculous about Nintendo.

Brexit gets the blame for everything it seems. Even when it has nothing to do with it.

I think it would be £279 regardless of the value of the pound, based on the cost of the PS2, PS3, PS4, and every other console before Brexit. It is usually about 20 points below the $US.

Re: Nintendo Switch to Introduce Paid Online Service in Autumn / Fall

Hotfusion

Paying for online services with no voice chat can be a deal breaker for many if Nintendo maintains their position on that feature.

They are way behind MS and Sony when it comes to online features. I will hold my peace until the cost and presentation is revealed but it must be worth it or I am not paying. Simple. I am a fanboy but not a blind one.

Re: Feature: What We Expect from the Nintendo Switch Presentation

Hotfusion

@Henmii
I fully agree with all your points except two.

1)Power equal to ps4/xboxone or even more.

LOL. C'mon, when has Nintendo ever talk about specs or power?
That's one question that will not be answered tonight. That question will be answered eventually by the Developers. You may find it somewhat disappointing but back to tonight.

2) No day one updates

I'll bet there is one. At the very least the first week. It is what it is and in the modern world that is what it is.

Re: Editorial: The Idea of VR on Nintendo Switch is Interesting, But Big Questions Remain

Hotfusion

Nintendo have far more direct issues to be concerned about than damn VR.

Like having a successful launch. Then maintaining that success and make the console profitable (as not to repeat the mistakes of the WiiU).

Also grow the userbase by giving non Nintendo fans the functionality in games they desire.

Then maybe consider VR.

Yes, I know one must always be forward thinking in this business but one mustn't overestimate potential success. The Switch could not perform in sales as expected.

PS4 and XboxOne first built a big enough userbase to proceed with VR as they did.

Re: Nintendo NY Store Confirms A 'Limited Quantity of Pre-Orders' for Nintendo Switch on 13th January

Hotfusion

@Amrulez
Damn right it's annoying. If the Switch sells 10,000 units worldwide after a month I will bet Nintendo will still fabricate shortages.

The only people they will annoy are their adoring fans because most people will play a waiting game with the Switch after the disaster that was the WiiU.

I know of people who like the concept of the Switch but won't touch it until it has settled in and the third-party devs have FULLY committed (not promise to commit like with the WiiU and then backtrack in the first six months) because they want to play mainstream AAA games on it as a handheld, not just Nintendo games.

That means for a lot of people there is no rush to buy it until next year or so.

@Frosty_09
" I could never understand why would they (Nintendo) ever region lock the 3DS and to an extent the DSI".

If you haven't figured out yet that Nintendo are gaming fascist I guess you never will. I love 'em but let's keep in real.

Which leads me on nicely to what I want to see on Friday.

1) An appeal to the masses rather than their fanboys.
2) Will they still be totalitarian about "no in game chat"?
3) Sort out a decent account system.

Re: Soapbox: The Nintendo Switch's Final Specs Don't Matter

Hotfusion

LOL

1) Specs DO NOT MATTER to Nintendo or their fans. That's why they sold 13m WiiUs and flopped.

2) If it is the games that sells consoles then the WiiU had the worst games in history... apart from Dreamcast. This argument is really stupid sometimes. The Dreamcast had great games.

3) Specs don't matter yet 99% of people on this site are desperate for the Switch to have at least XboxOne performance. Even a percentage want more than that.... but REMEMBER, specs don't matter. SMH.

As a Nintendo fan I don't expect miracles from the Switch. I expect above the WiiU and way less the xboxone graphics. If the public outside of fanboys want power then it will flop.

Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page

Hotfusion

@Anti-Matter
As you said Pokemon on home consoles are mini spin offs, not the full blown versions.

Bear in mind that the article was written many years ago, around the time when the DS and Wii ruled the world. It was different then.

If you think about it he probably had a point. If you wanted to play Pokemon buy a DS. It sold millions of the handhelds.

Now Nintendo's world has changed from those heady days of mega sales and mega profits. Time to change the plan.

Re: GameStop References Pokémon On Nintendo Switch Product Page

Hotfusion

Pokemon on the Switch will definitely sell devices. I can see it happening.

However I remember reading an article many moons back by Iwata when answering a question by a journalist. He stated it was dangerous for the franchise to put Pokemon on their home console and that's why Nintendo didn't do it.

Re: Prepare To Be Blown Away By Nintendo Switch, Says Nvidia CEO

Hotfusion

@Alucard83

Please bear in mind that $250 for the Switch is a RUMOUR. No price has yet been confirmed.

Considering that Nintendo sell the old and outdated WiiU is €299, I find it hard to believe that the "bleeding edge in mobile technology" Switch will be less than €350. Surely it will be more than €300.

Thursday will confirm this.

Re: Talking Point: NVIDIA is the Latest to Pitch Cloud Gaming - Could It Be Key to Nintendo's Future Hardware?

Hotfusion

@dres
I will keep laughing, thanks.

Cloud gaming is useful when your device doesn't have the horsepower to run demanding games.

I have no doubt that cloud gaming is the future but here in good ole 2017 MS has come to the conclusion that hardware matters, hence the Scorpio.

Come to think of it there has been no significant news of cloud gaming from MS since 2015. All they talk about is building the most powerful console ever.

Re: Nikkei Reports a Nintendo Switch Price of 25,000 Yen, Prompting $250 Speculation

Hotfusion

@Kirgo
You are right on many of the arguments you presented and I totally agree that there is a lot that we don't know. That's why I forever fight to keep the "it's as powerful as a PS4" nonsense at a minimum.
If it is - YEAH! But if it isn't anywhere near as powerful as a xboxone after everyone is claiming that it is then expect the same internet backlash as with the WiiU. As I said we have been here before but some people never learn.

When it comes to production cost the Switch may not have an optical or HDD but it does have a high resolution screen built in and what I hope is a high capacity battery, unlike the PS4 and Xbox. There is a trade off, it's not a clean break.

Regardless we stand united on one front, it's about the games.
However I do want the console to sell well.

Re: Nikkei Reports a Nintendo Switch Price of 25,000 Yen, Prompting $250 Speculation

Hotfusion

@Kirgo
Come on, please try to be sensible about what I said. However weak the other consoles are Nintendo's are far weaker.

The WiiU is being sold for more than $250 in the USA today (look it up). Yet a tablet that is suppose to cost less is more powerful than the PS4?

No tablet that is equivalent or more powerful than a PS4 is going to cost less than the WiiU. Its common sense.

I want a Switch and think the concept is great but I am planted in reality, not fantasy like so many people on this site.
This is history repeating itself as was the case with the WiiU when everyone were claiming it too be far, far more powerful than it was.
Then it was ridiculed on the internet because of that same reason.

Re: Nikkei Reports a Nintendo Switch Price of 25,000 Yen, Prompting $250 Speculation

Hotfusion

@JaxonH

Yep PS4 Pro is NOT setting the world alight but PS4 Slim is still rocketing on ahead. Maybe a lesson to learn there.

Why oh why do people love to make out that the Switch is more than it is? Modern Nintendo DO NOT do powerful consoles.

Stop fooling yourselves pretending that they do. They just make great consoles for their fans who claim they don't care about power.

A tablet that can compete graphically with a XboxOne will cost a lot more money than a freakin' full blown XBOXOne. Use some common sense. It's the same factor that dictate that a laptop that is equal to a desktop in specs will ALWAYS cost considerably more. Jeezus!!!

Re: Poll: Are You Optimistic for Nintendo's 2017?

Hotfusion

I think Nintendo will have a very bad 2017. The Switch will only appeal to the fanbs. I really don't think the handheld crowd will crossover. They very likely already own tablets, and basically that's what the Switch is.

I think the fanbs that buy the Switch will be very impress and have a very good 2017.

So Nintendo to loose and fanbs for the win in 2017.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

Hotfusion

@bitleman
Although you have made some good points I cannot agree that the graphical gap between the PS2 and GC was the same as the Wii and PS3 or the WiiU and PS4.

The Xbox came to the party late so obviously had an advantage in power.

The Wii and the WiiU were a generation behind the all current competition graphically.

These arguments never really get anywhere so let's agree to respectfully disagree.

Re: Feature: Looking Back at Nintendo's 2016

Hotfusion

@gatorboi352
Careful now. Don't won't to hurt anyone's feelings by not agreeing with their opinion or not sharing their company worship/loyalty.

Hell, I almost got lynched earlier this year for saying Star Fox on the WiiU was absolutely #$€%#.

Actually Star Fox was the last straw that broke a lot of my support for Nintendo. How can a gaming company regarded by many as "superior" release such garbage? It was an insult to my loyalty. I was offended. I contacted them to get a refund.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

Hotfusion

@bitleman
The PS2, GC and Xbox were considered to be in the same ballpark when it came to processing power. Likewise now with the PS4 and XboxOne. Yes one is always more powerful but the gap is not that significant.

To compare the SIGNIFICANTLY weaker hardware of the Wii to the PS3/XBOX360 or the WiiU to the PS4/XBone is not the same as comparing the PS2 to the Xbox or GC. The Nintendo consoles are not in the same country never mind the ballpark.

That brings me back to my original point. The significantly weaker hardware combined with weak third party support makes Nintendo home consoles short-lived.

I repeat what I said. The older X360 (and PS3) is still on the market and outlived the younger Wii and is selling better than the WiiU.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

Hotfusion

@Peach64
Yep. That's pretty much it.
What I respect about Sony and MS is that they give you good, long value for your money. Nintendo fans are blinded to this fact.

Take a look at the PS3 and X360. Still being sold in numbers comparable to the WiiU to this day.

The Wii that came out after the X360 is dead. The WiiU that came out after the Wii is virtually dead.

Weak hardware (in console terms) don't last.

Any open minded gamer not blinded by fanboyism can clearly see that Nintendo consoles are little value for money unless you are a dedicated fan of their games.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

Hotfusion

@DrRandle
That was a bit of a read after a few drinks but I agree with you regarding Nintendo's approach.

To compete headon with PS and Xbox is probably not the way forward. The problem is that MS and Sony has a model that is guaranteed to work.

Innovation is hit or miss. Nintendo is always searching for that difference and sometimes it can work (Wii) or fail miserably (WiiU).

Having the weakest console is not so bad as the PlayStation and PS2 proved but having a significantly weaker console is profanity to the third parties. That's an issue Nintendo must overcome.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch 'Power' Debate is Likely Missing the Point

Hotfusion

Good article. Not long ago these forums were full of Nintendo fanbs who were all about power. Power mattered then.

Fast forward to negative rumours and now power doesn't matter anymore. Makes me laugh.

Absolutely nothing has change from my perspective. I assumed it would be a weak home console because it is a damn tablet (portable) that can connect to a TV.

The truth is I expect it will turn out to be even weaker than is now currently rumoured. That's how Nintendo roll. Live with it.

I will get it regardless, or rather depending on price. I refuse to be ripped off.

BTW this is so much like the WiiU before launch. The rumours said it was X360 equivalent hardware. The fanboys swore otherwise.

Now the rumours are saying it is a cutdown Terga X1 Maxwell. When I suggested this a month ago I was almost lynched because I said it would not be Pascal due to price and timing.
Let time reveal all just the same.

Re: Super Mario Run Races to 50 Million Downloads

Hotfusion

@DonaldTrump

I don't know where they are but I know where they were.. on this here website.

Although all evidence shows that IOS users spend far more money than Android users on apps with less market share, they were blinded by their fanboyism. Apps on IOS were reported to bring in 75% more dosh than Android. That's huge.

Granted that being release on both at the same time was the best option, going exclusive with IOS will always be way better than going exclusive Android at this point in time. The figures don't lie.

On topic: It's those that spend money on the game that really matter. That's important to Nintendo going forward.

Re: Talking Point: The Leaps and Falls of Super Mario Run's Launch

Hotfusion

@dimi
This is the fact that many ignore. The App Store generates far, far more money than the Android platform (Play) with a smaller market share and based on Pokemon Go commerce was probably a big factor in choosing iOS as the launch platform.

It's business.Too much Nintendo and Android fanboyism.

Re: Nintendo Has No Plans For Additional Super Mario Run Content

Hotfusion

Unless additional content is added to the Android version I really don't see that many Android users picking up Apple's leftover scraps, only extremely dedicated

Research shows iOS users spend far more money per app than Android. Up to four or five times. Going with iOS first made sense.

Saying that, I think dropping the price for Android users is probably more economically sound than adding content to a badly reviewed game that is secondhand.

Re: Guide: The Top Nintendo Black Friday 2016 Deals in the UK

Hotfusion

@JohnnyC

I agree. I won't buy a WiiU for more than £100 with games thrown in. I got my deluxe brand new for £120.00 three years ago. They could be had for £80.00 (basic) for a while in the U.K. Nintendo are crazy to be selling a dead console around the same price as the PS4 and XBone.

To be honest I won't even recommend buying a WiiU now anyway. Probably best to save your money and get a Switch in a few months.

Don't worry about missing out on any WiiU games, my prediction is that every major release on the WiiU will be ported to and re-released on the Switch.

@Bunkerneath

To be honest the way our country puppy follow the US I am surprise Thanksgiving hasn't yet appear on our calendar as a yearly holiday.
