Re: I Am Setsuna Confirmed as Launch Day Release on Nintendo Switch

Hordak

@Shiryu I feel the same way, but it just dawned on me that I will finally be able to import games for a Nintendo console and not have to buy a different region system just to play it. The question is, will there be an English translation on the physical, Japanese release? If not, I probably won't import it.

Re: DFC Intelligence Believes Nintendo Switch Can Shift 40 Million Units by 2020

@Rman12 "The Switch to me looks like a slightly improved Wii u in terms of graphics and power. I by no means am a graphics junky but from what I've seen so far when they show MK8 comparisons and Splatoon comparisons are so minimal to me."

The reason for this is because the Wii U was way better than the general population want to give it credit for. Most people who complained seemed to not own the system. In addition, Mario Kart 8 looks and plays better than 99% of the games I have played on XB1 and PS4, in my opinion.

For me, the issue isn't how good the game looks, or how many frames per second it's claimed to run at, or whether it's 720p, 900p, 1080p, or 4K. The issue is, we now live in a day and age where the kneejerk reaction to something that gets an initial positive impression (Switch) is to bash it and tell the world how it sucks, it's stupid, it's going to fail, etc. look no further than "anonymous" message board posts, twitter, Facebook, etc. to prove my point.

Have a favorite athlete/musician/band/political figure/ religion? Post something positive on a message board and watch the hate roll in. Guaranteed. Every. Time.
It's sad that we live in a world and in a time when we have access to so many incredible goods and opportunities and to all of the knowledge of mankind, yet we choose to use it carelessly and angrily. I, for one, am looking forward to playing games at home and on the go with Nintendo Switch regardless of how much some people simple don't want me to.

Re: Nintendo Switch Pre-Order Stock - Tough to Find in the US, Easier in the UK

Here is the interesting thing. I'm a high school teacher. When I take my PS4 to school for a fun class with the students (if they have earned a break), few play and most don't seem interested. When I take the Wii U, the "hardcore gamers" who complain about it being a kiddie console eventually end up participating and having a blast with the entire class. They are usually laughing and enjoying themselves as opposed to getting angry with the PS4 experience. Nintendo knows what they are doing, it just seems people are afraid to have FUN in these dark, angry, social media days. This is my personal experience on the subject.

I have a feeling that when I take the Switch and have my students try out 1-2 Switch or Snipper Clips, it will prove to be the same outcome.

Re: Axiom Verge Heading to the Wii U eShop on 1st September

@Hey-Cha-La ...and the IGN review is way off base. It seems like they are criticizing it for trying to be exactly what it says it's trying to be.

It's a truly fantastic game that I will definitely be purchasing for the Wii U. The PS4/Vita version is wonderful, but it feels like its real home should be on a Nintendo console...just like Shovel Knight.

Re: Review: Pokémon GO (Mobile)

Can anyone tell me why all of the pokemon in the area are now three footsteps away no matter what? I've been everywhere in my city and Kansas City as well and for the last two days or so, nothing ever shows up as two or one footsteps in the tracker.

I'm guessing it is people who need the exercise the most who come up with these methods. Just imagine, if they spent as much time actually exercising as it does to come up with stuff like this, obesity and heart disease might be less of an issue. Oh well! I'll just stick to the 17 miles of walking/running I put in yesterday.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Its E3 Plans for The Legend of Zelda

Hordak

I don't really care about E3 anymore. 95% of the announcements have never really resulted in me being through the roof excited for more than a mere few days after the announcement. Seriously, To get that hyped up over something, then to have to wait MONTH or even YEARS to fulfill the excitement has never been my thing. I'm kind of glad Nintendo is giving a giant middle finger to the current generation of "me, first; I want it now" social media people. Announce it when you're ready, Nintendo. I'll still buy it. E3 never has and never will change that.

Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: Zelda Wii U Rumours Point to Sex Choice in Playable Character

(Total sarcasm here):

What about an obese, male Samus?
Give me Father Brain, not Mother Brain!
What about a thin, orangutan Donkey King?
Why does Pit have to be a "kid" Icarus?
Eggplant Wizard...how about Pumpkin Witch?
When will Kirby get to be a blue square?
I don't want a Gameboy, I want a Gamegirl!
Nintendo Wii was fine, but we need Nintendo Vii.
Little Mac should be Big Mac...oh wait... :/

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Source and Details Gain Some Traction

Hordak

I have lost all hope that it will have a decent name. Nintendo NX would be fine. Nintendo Revolution would be fine. Super Nintendo was fine. Ultra Nintendo would be fine. They absolutely MUST drop the Wii name though. It's been a massive joke for almost a decade now. Yeah, the Wii sold a lot but let's be honest. It was a flash in the pan gimmick. Just don't call it something like the Joy Box or Dream Machine.

Re: Editorial: A Week When NX 'Leaks' Were Thankfully Fake and New Tricks Were Used

Hordak

@msvt I hate to admit it, but you're right. It wouldn't be unexpected for Nintendo to just do something that nobody wants.

While the Wii was fun for a time, I gravitated to the PS3 and really didn't look back. I really like the Wii U, a lot. But I feel so much more immersed with my PS4 that I kind of feel like a traitor. I really, truly want to love the NX as much as I loved the NES and SNES. I'll hold out hope as long as I can.
