According to recent local cinema chain listings, the movie will open in Egypt on 19 April, and in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates on 20 April.
There has been recent changes to the local distribution of Universal Pictures' theatrical releases in the Middle East, so apparently information on the movie's status in the region is a tad slow at the moment. Hopefully, things will pick up in a few weeks.
I knew this was a simple case of a webmaster being incompetent with their information. Every time the gaming news media makes too much noise about the website changes, the webmaster would be like, “Oh darn!”
Kind of strange how they mentioned the Nintendo Switch as a supported platform in general is coming out of the blue, several months after the game itself was first announced. There seems to be more to the behind-the-scenes than meets the eye.
It shouldn’t be surprising the Nintendo Switch version would be released at a later date, considering they already view Nintendo’s platform as an afterthought, and then there’s the fact this game looks ambitious to start with. A lot of us already thought the Nintendo Switch couldn’t handle it anyway.
@Damo It is very likely that Nintendo must still have a backed up copy of X and its source code in their archives. NCL has a policy to back-up every game ever released on a Nintendo platform in Japan, including third-party titles. Besides, Nintendo themselves published the game, so it would be presumptuous to say the source code is lost forever.
Hard to imagine that before 2021, most everyone in the Metroid fandom still believed that Metroid Dread was vapourware, and suddenly here we are, celebrating it as the best sold title in the series thus far!
@ClamDown Bandai Namco Europe is Outright Games’ distribution partner in the EMEA region. The game itself is still being published by Outright Games though.
@HotGoomba If a random Target listing is to be believed, an officially licensed My Little Pony video game is coming to the Nintendo Switch in May. Of course, this one is based on the fifth generation Netflix movie, and is going to be published by Outright Games.
@somebread The developer Mane6 was recently acquired by Maximum Games, who also own the publisher Modus Games. Maximum Games is a big enough company to finally give Mane6 the resources to make the game in accordance to their vision, and port it to more platforms.
@Frobodobo I’m pretty sure they were just pointing out the products that were released between 2004 and 2006, thus the Nintendo DS and Wii. The Nintendo 3DS and Wii U launched between 2011 and 2012.
Technically, Super Mario Run was the first Nintendo-published game to be localised into Brazilian Portuguese. In Mario Party Superstars’ case, as a Nintendo Switch title, yes, but definitely not the first game in general!
WildBrain happens to be the current owner of DiC Entertainment’s entire library of shows, including all three Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons from 1990s! Talk about going full circle!
The Super NES and Mega Drive/Genesis received two completely different games regarding Aladdin. This will be the first time a Nintendo console is getting Virgin's game. The Lion King was released for both platforms, but the Super NES version had the superior audio.
@retro_player_22 I doubt he would have been involved with Metroid Prime 4's development either way considering the man long left Retro Studios and formed his own company.
@RodSD64 Fire Emblem Heroes finally officially launched in Chile a few months ago. The game will get there eventually. A lot of other South American countries are not getting the game at launch, so don't take it personal. Nintendo does prioritise various markets over others, but nobody really knows how they decide which market get which game.
It is not surprising that a few countries will officially have the game on just one of the two mobile giants, as many of these smaller markets either have no official access to the iOS or the Android app stores to begin with. Contrary to popular belief, Apple and Google have not penetrated the same number of global territories, even though they share most of the same roster.
This circumstance is unfortunately beyond Nintendo's control.
Why does everyone forget about 1-2-Switch? It was also available on launch day, and sold over 2 million units worldwide so far, doing better than ARMS even!
Also, people seem to forget that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is not a Nintendo Switch exclusive, as it was simultaneously released for the Wii U.
Is this article referring to mainland China? That would be impossible since the Nintendo Switch did not even officially launch there. I think Chinese players may likely be referring to Hong Kong and Taiwan, where the Nintendo Switch is officially available, as well as other services like Google.
@link3710 Um... they're not exclusive actually. This is Nintendo Life. They're job is to report games that are coming to Nintendo consoles, but CyberConnect2 is releasing these games for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even Windows PCs.
@RyanCraddock You made a small mistake. The Little Tail Bronx title is actually Fuga on the Battlefield, not "Fugue" as the initial Japanese magazine scans indicated.
Yes! This means we shall get two games on the Nintendo Switch in 2018 from EA instead of one! Awesome! Terrific! Outstanding! Ingenious! Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
@Darthroseman VRV is not available outside the United States. Also, you don't get a lot of anime on VRV like on Crunchyroll, which is available worldwide.
Hulu as a service is not available anywhere other than the United States and Japan, and the latter doesn't even have all perks the American counterpart provides. Saying that the Hulu app should launch in Europe does not make sense as long as Hulu in general is not accessible from any other country unless you live in an American military base.
@RodSD64 No, the Nintendo Switch version renders visuals, frame rates, and audio better the Wii U version. However, other than these technicalities, both versions of the game are virtually the same.
Why in the world does everyone think it is practical to port Super Mario Maker to the Nintendo Switch? Think about it! Both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are dual-screened consoles, but the Nintendo Switch is not, and the game heavily relies on there having two screens for efficient level design. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch's capacitive touch screen makes it even more frustrating to design levels, as you will be obliged to used your fingers, or be obliged to purchase a third-party stylus for capacitive touch screens. Many people already did so to make better drawings on Splatoon 2.
@Ventilator I doubt cross-buy is possible, considering the Nintendo Switch does not have native support for Nintendo Network IDs. I know you can link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account, but it seems most of the cross-functions are merely arbitrary. There is a much better chance to cross-buy between the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS since they both support Nintendo Network natively.
