Re: Metallic Blue New Nintendo 3DS XL Looks Set for North American Release

HopeNForever

@ThomasBW84
Dear Mr. Whitehead

If Play Asia are listing the console without any announcements from Nintendo of America, then this NA Metallic Blue New Nintendo 3DS XL is not likely to be officially released in the actual Americas. Similarly to the Nintendo 3DS XL Mario White Edition from a while back which was never seen in any North American stores, the console is likely exclusively distributed by Active Boeki specifically for Southeast Asian and the Middle Eastern markets. The circular emblem on the console's packaging as shown below actually proves it. It is just unfortunate the distributor does not have their own proper PR department.

Re: Say Hello To What Could Be The Most Obscure Piece Of Nintendo Hardware Ever Made

HopeNForever

The 1970s was a much different time period, especially as the Japanese economy was in a sort of boom period whilst the U.S. was experiencing terrible and great times after so many events of the previous decade with the war in Vietnam, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and man walking on the moon, and suddenly people were talking about their horrible experiences with the fluctuation of gas prices.

Regardless of Nintendo's shady pratises at the time, there still ought to be a museum dedicated to the pre-video game and toy manufacturing history of the company, filled with all the Hanafuda cards they published over the years, as well as relics from their failed taxi cab and... er... love hotel ventures.

Re: Fire Emblem Fates Birthright Edition Is The Popular Choice In Japan

HopeNForever

This isn't surprising. Many new fans were introduced to the series thanks to Fire Emblem Awakening and its implemented signature "Casual Mode". I have reason to believe many of the players who went for the supposedly "easier" Birthright edition of Fire Emblem Fates are likely those that enjoyed the previous game in its "Casual Mode", having no issues or concerns in losing characters they grown attached to with the lack of permadeath.

Re: Reminder: North American Club Nintendo Rewards Will Disappear Very Soon

HopeNForever

I already long since spent most of my reserved Coins on whatever I could get, but I still have a balance of 55 Coins remaining, which unfortunately is not enough to spent on anything. In my mind, that's a lot of Coins wasted.

Oh well... they are disappearing soon anyway - can't do much at this point except wait and see what Nintendo has in store for us later this year to replace our Club Nintendo blues.

Re: Nintendo Life Weekly: F-Zero Wii U, Octolings, and Same-Sex Marriage

HopeNForever

People are so focused on the fact there is a "same-sex marriage" as a thing in Fire Emblem Fates that they're forgetting/ignoring to look up the details on the matter, and there is some bits about it that may actually turn off even the people who got excited about click-bait subject of "same-sex marriage" in the game. For example, the female character is actually from the "child generation", and therefore cannot have offspring with the female Avatar as, unlike Robin's Morgan from Awakening, the Avatar in Fates does not have a specific child character to call their own. Additionally, because the female character is a child character herself, she cannot exist unless her male parent gains S-Support first (Although most child characters in Awakening were dependent on their female parents gaining S-Support, in Fates they switched roles and most child characters are now dependent on male parents gaining S-Support to exist.)

Additionally, if you're not interested in any of it, it doesn't matter anyway as the characters in question can still be given S-Support with characters of the opposite sex too, including the Avatar. It is all really your choice in the end - there are no obligations for it and you won't get penalised or something. I personally still believe "same-sex marriage" is a nonsense thing in general, but I'm still interested in getting the game though. Fire Emblem is an amazing series in the end. One of Nintendo's more mature-oriented series, but still great!

Re: Rumour: Nintendo NX Could Use Google's Android Operating System

HopeNForever

I wonder if this has to do anything with Nintendo and establishing some kind of partnership with Google. Does not seem feasible though, as future consoles may lack backward-compatiblity, and even make them very prone to homebrew development and piracy by extension, despite any form of advantages of such a unified platform. I mean, would Nintendo consoles be really open to Google Play's entire library of apps and games, the good and the horrid alike?

It is a much more logical to presume that Nintendo are working on an in-house, proprietary OS platform inspired by Android rather than working with Android directly. I mean, how many Apple iPhones uses Android, by the way? Then there is Microsoft, who managed to make modern Windows flexible with every kind of device, from PCs, to mobile phones and tablets, to their current generation Xboxes.

Re: Analyst Thinks Nintendo Is Already Winding Down Wii U Ahead Of Nintendo NX Launch

HopeNForever

Many people thought Skyward Sword was going to have a dual-launch on the Wii and its successor at the time itself got delayed. Why do analysts make these doom-and-gloom assumptions simply based on the present nature, rather than what is to come? I mean, maybe the announcement for Nintendo's and DeNA's partnership was poorly timed, and they should have waited until after E3 to confirm the Wii U is still pretty much important.

Re: Video: Donkey Kong 64 Tumbles Onto Wii U Virtual Console

HopeNForever

Nintendo must have had some serious background discussions with Microsoft to retain all the Rare-owned references in the Virtual Console re-release, including the full, classic Jetpac game, which is an integral mini-game of sorts. I also have reason to believe Rare owns much of the game's code too, which in a way also belong to Microsoft.

Re: Rodea the Sky Soldier Glides to European Consoles on 25th September

HopeNForever

@Varoennauraa NIS America is only doing publishing duties in favour of the developer, and are very unlikely going to touch the core coding after the game has already gone gold in Japan. The Wii Remote control support is going to remain a Wii-exclusive thing, but that's fine in some ways, as the Wii disc is coming within the Wii U retail case anyway, and since Wii U is backwards-compatible, well, you get the idea.

Re: Super Mario 64 HD Creator Bows To Legal Action And Removes Game From The Web

HopeNForever

@abe_hikura That depends. The way I understand it, Nintendo's legal department asked the creator to take down this game because it was using assets hacked from Nintendo own games, which is technically not legit, despite the fair use. That other HD remake project is being fully made from scratch, build from the ground up, including the Mario animations. They even made a speed art video showing people the actual process of the model animation being made in Blender:

Re: Video: Marvel At The Fabulous amiibo Unlocks In Style Savvy Sequel, Girls Mode 3

HopeNForever

Hopefully, amazing, premium fashion games like this would encourage more young female gaming enthusiasts to play on the Nintendo 3DS rather than all the fashion game shovelware you can find in the mobile space, especially the ones endorsed by certain celebrities that don't know anything about good games. The amiibo inclusion really brings the Nintendo identity to their own fashion game series - a lot of young gamers do love their Nintendo reference fix in various games, and with the popularity of amiibo itself, well, this would make a lot of sense.

Re: The Legend of Zelda for Wii U No Longer Set for 2015 Release

HopeNForever

I'm not sure why so many people are misunderstanding his article. Aonuma only clarified their original intension for a 2015 release is no longer a priority after they realised a potential scope of the project. This does not necessarily mean a 2015 release will not happen, rather he's saying there is a great chance it wouldn't happen anyway just to realise these new potentials and make it the best The Legend of Zelda game yet!

Re: Fan Discovers StarTropics Music Tracks that Were Broken and Unnoticed for 25 Years

HopeNForever

Holy nuts and fruit chocolate! I was personally and obsessively looking up info on StarTropics for the past few weeks, and suddenly there is new development appearing on a 25 year old game?! My mind is blown - it's like it was meant to be!

I recently acquired a license to download the sequel - Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II - on my Wii, thanks to Club Nintendo, and been trying to beat it for the first time, although it's a pretty tough game. However, it is a shame Club Nintendo didn't include the first title, and I still need to use an emulator and ROM file to play the original just because I am unable to purchase anything from the Wii Shop Channel on my own. This is simply because Nintendo won't accept my debit card info as it is not issued by a bank in the United States or Canada, and Nintendo Points prepaid cards have long been outta print. Why couldn't Nintendo of America revamp the system so that eShop prepaid cards work with the older digital stores like it does on the PAL and Japanese systems?
