If Play Asia are listing the console without any announcements from Nintendo of America, then this NA Metallic Blue New Nintendo 3DS XL is not likely to be officially released in the actual Americas. Similarly to the Nintendo 3DS XL Mario White Edition from a while back which was never seen in any North American stores, the console is likely exclusively distributed by Active Boeki specifically for Southeast Asian and the Middle Eastern markets. The circular emblem on the console's packaging as shown below actually proves it. It is just unfortunate the distributor does not have their own proper PR department.
I am wondering whether Nintendo of America's decisions is in any way related to why they did not work on releasing The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, both also supposedly Nintendo games from external developers, in the region either.
The 1970s was a much different time period, especially as the Japanese economy was in a sort of boom period whilst the U.S. was experiencing terrible and great times after so many events of the previous decade with the war in Vietnam, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and man walking on the moon, and suddenly people were talking about their horrible experiences with the fluctuation of gas prices.
Regardless of Nintendo's shady pratises at the time, there still ought to be a museum dedicated to the pre-video game and toy manufacturing history of the company, filled with all the Hanafuda cards they published over the years, as well as relics from their failed taxi cab and... er... love hotel ventures.
That trailer was incredibly well-written and directed, despite the poor drawn clip art they included, but methinks that's part of its surprising charm.
This isn't surprising. Many new fans were introduced to the series thanks to Fire Emblem Awakening and its implemented signature "Casual Mode". I have reason to believe many of the players who went for the supposedly "easier" Birthright edition of Fire Emblem Fates are likely those that enjoyed the previous game in its "Casual Mode", having no issues or concerns in losing characters they grown attached to with the lack of permadeath.
I already long since spent most of my reserved Coins on whatever I could get, but I still have a balance of 55 Coins remaining, which unfortunately is not enough to spent on anything. In my mind, that's a lot of Coins wasted.
Oh well... they are disappearing soon anyway - can't do much at this point except wait and see what Nintendo has in store for us later this year to replace our Club Nintendo blues.
@Plateface @EverythingAmiibo The guy isn't "gay" per se, as he can still have potential relationships with the female Avatar, and various other female characters. The same goes for the girl character in Birthright as well, who can still hook up with the male Avatar, or various other male characters.
People are so focused on the fact there is a "same-sex marriage" as a thing in Fire Emblem Fates that they're forgetting/ignoring to look up the details on the matter, and there is some bits about it that may actually turn off even the people who got excited about click-bait subject of "same-sex marriage" in the game. For example, the female character is actually from the "child generation", and therefore cannot have offspring with the female Avatar as, unlike Robin's Morgan from Awakening, the Avatar in Fates does not have a specific child character to call their own. Additionally, because the female character is a child character herself, she cannot exist unless her male parent gains S-Support first (Although most child characters in Awakening were dependent on their female parents gaining S-Support, in Fates they switched roles and most child characters are now dependent on male parents gaining S-Support to exist.)
Additionally, if you're not interested in any of it, it doesn't matter anyway as the characters in question can still be given S-Support with characters of the opposite sex too, including the Avatar. It is all really your choice in the end - there are no obligations for it and you won't get penalised or something. I personally still believe "same-sex marriage" is a nonsense thing in general, but I'm still interested in getting the game though. Fire Emblem is an amazing series in the end. One of Nintendo's more mature-oriented series, but still great!
While all these game's mechanics look really clever and how they take advantage of the GamePad, I cannot but help feel some of them could have worked the same using a Wii Remote as well. It is like these developers prefer the gyroscope properties of the GamePad over its touchscreen.
Why are people assuming this will be the exact same game we already experienced on the Wii U, and not another game developed from the ground up with a similar title pasted on its packaging/start menu? After all, our ZombiU was inspired by another Ubisoft game from the 1980s.
@Kage_88 By 2017, there will be more people with Wii U consoles than Nintendo's next hardware iteration, whatever it is. Plus, they need to develop for a console already in the market than a console we completely don't know anything about. Besides, there's also that bit about the developer Armature Studios releasing Unreal Engine 4 code for the Wii U.
I wonder if this has to do anything with Nintendo and establishing some kind of partnership with Google. Does not seem feasible though, as future consoles may lack backward-compatiblity, and even make them very prone to homebrew development and piracy by extension, despite any form of advantages of such a unified platform. I mean, would Nintendo consoles be really open to Google Play's entire library of apps and games, the good and the horrid alike?
It is a much more logical to presume that Nintendo are working on an in-house, proprietary OS platform inspired by Android rather than working with Android directly. I mean, how many Apple iPhones uses Android, by the way? Then there is Microsoft, who managed to make modern Windows flexible with every kind of device, from PCs, to mobile phones and tablets, to their current generation Xboxes.
I dunno about you, but progressing through this game felt very slow for me personally, that is without forking any of my eShop balance on extra Poké Diamonds, especially when you are having very hard luck capturing rare boss Toy Pokémon.
@AyeHaley Actually, the Nintendo 3DS XL at least is already available in mainland China under the brand name iQue 3DS XL, and while some games are available at retail, Nintendo are releasing many of their games as Chinese eShop-exclusives which are available for retail in most other regions.
Is it me, or did the Japanese Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS Game Card display in English instead of Japanese? Does the Japanese consoles support the English language to begin with?
The momentum of the Kickstarter campaign is unbelievable! They might just get all the money they want for all stretch goals before even the end of the first day! Apparently, more people want this game than Mighty No. 9!
@Godlygamer You apparently haven't encountered the two other Pokémon of the total five Safari Challenge Pokémon yet, as they very seldom appear to catch easily. You might have a chance to get Cherrim, but Sharpedo is ridiculous, as its disruptions will drive you crazy!
This isn't the first moment we heard about the rumour of another Wii classic (albeit should be GameCube) making to the New Nintendo 3DS. In fact, I even made my own mock-up cover a few weeks back, and here it is below:
I always thought that Treyarch is the only Call of Duty developer that still believes in Nintendo, and it is a good thing they are the main coders for the Black Ops sub-series since the beginning.
Many people thought Skyward Sword was going to have a dual-launch on the Wii and its successor at the time itself got delayed. Why do analysts make these doom-and-gloom assumptions simply based on the present nature, rather than what is to come? I mean, maybe the announcement for Nintendo's and DeNA's partnership was poorly timed, and they should have waited until after E3 to confirm the Wii U is still pretty much important.
btw fun fact.
Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth Europe = allows screenshots
Persona Q Shadow of the Labyrinth North America =/= doesn't allow screenshots.
This is mostly because ESRB rated the game as "M", but PEGI rated it only as "12" - quite a perception of heavy cultural contrast!
Nintendo must have had some serious background discussions with Microsoft to retain all the Rare-owned references in the Virtual Console re-release, including the full, classic Jetpac game, which is an integral mini-game of sorts. I also have reason to believe Rare owns much of the game's code too, which in a way also belong to Microsoft.
I guess that 2016 release window for other regions is not dependent on the localisation after all, but rather Nintendo figuring out how to release such a dual-structured game to appeal elsewhere!
@paul6891 Nintendo Life has been having issues with embedded YouTube videos starting off muted sometimes. Simply check the video's volume control to turn the sound on.
Anyway, I personally already watched this live on Nintendo's official Twitch channel.
@Varoennauraa NIS America is only doing publishing duties in favour of the developer, and are very unlikely going to touch the core coding after the game has already gone gold in Japan. The Wii Remote control support is going to remain a Wii-exclusive thing, but that's fine in some ways, as the Wii disc is coming within the Wii U retail case anyway, and since Wii U is backwards-compatible, well, you get the idea.
Even if these games were intended for official release at one point during their prime, aren't they still considered technically unlicensed releases today?
@abe_hikura That depends. The way I understand it, Nintendo's legal department asked the creator to take down this game because it was using assets hacked from Nintendo own games, which is technically not legit, despite the fair use. That other HD remake project is being fully made from scratch, build from the ground up, including the Mario animations. They even made a speed art video showing people the actual process of the model animation being made in Blender:
Hopefully, amazing, premium fashion games like this would encourage more young female gaming enthusiasts to play on the Nintendo 3DS rather than all the fashion game shovelware you can find in the mobile space, especially the ones endorsed by certain celebrities that don't know anything about good games. The amiibo inclusion really brings the Nintendo identity to their own fashion game series - a lot of young gamers do love their Nintendo reference fix in various games, and with the popularity of amiibo itself, well, this would make a lot of sense.
I wonder if there is really some significance to the fictional branding in this game. Not only are the gear and outfits branded, but also the weapons themselves have specific brands. I'm pretty sure there ought to be more to it than being somewhat realistic compared to real world marketing.
I'm not sure why so many people are misunderstanding his article. Aonuma only clarified their original intension for a 2015 release is no longer a priority after they realised a potential scope of the project. This does not necessarily mean a 2015 release will not happen, rather he's saying there is a great chance it wouldn't happen anyway just to realise these new potentials and make it the best The Legend of Zelda game yet!
Why do non-gaming journalism have to continue cover gaming with their disinterest and lack of research about the main subject in their articles? Good thing not all publishers are that careless.
@Discostew Yep, those are indeed the custom sprites Dorkly uses in their game parody animations.
Wasn't Freedom Planet originally an actual Sonic the Hedgehog fan game before development went a different direction with an original IP? I mean, much of the gameplay from a potential 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game is still there on the current game.
Holy nuts and fruit chocolate! I was personally and obsessively looking up info on StarTropics for the past few weeks, and suddenly there is new development appearing on a 25 year old game?! My mind is blown - it's like it was meant to be!
I recently acquired a license to download the sequel - Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II - on my Wii, thanks to Club Nintendo, and been trying to beat it for the first time, although it's a pretty tough game. However, it is a shame Club Nintendo didn't include the first title, and I still need to use an emulator and ROM file to play the original just because I am unable to purchase anything from the Wii Shop Channel on my own. This is simply because Nintendo won't accept my debit card info as it is not issued by a bank in the United States or Canada, and Nintendo Points prepaid cards have long been outta print. Why couldn't Nintendo of America revamp the system so that eShop prepaid cards work with the older digital stores like it does on the PAL and Japanese systems?
