Nintendo has confirmed that Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launches on iOS and Android worldwide this week.
It was previously hinted that the game would launch on the 21st, but Nintendo has now revealed that it's coming a day later on the 22nd (that's Wednesday, in case you were wondering):
We recently reviewed this new smartphone game and awarded it 8/10, saying:
It’s almost startling just how easily this IP has been adapted to the mobile platform. While it does experiment with the classic formula to go where no existing releases have gone before, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp still manages to provide the same level of escapism that has been fundamental to the series over the years. For this reason alone, it’s worth checking out.
Will you be downloading this when it launches? Let us know by leaving a comment.

Can't wait to play. Now, give us the switch game dammit!!! 😆
Can't wait. This will probably satisfy me until the Switch version comes up.
I'll just install and never play it, like with Mario Run and FE Heroes. Might as well skip the first step lol.
I will give it a shot at the very least since it is free to play, I have a feeling I will be bored rather quickly with it since it lacks a lot of the stuff that made me fall in love with the series in the first place.
EXCELLENT!
I pre-registered for it, but I don't think I'll be playing this one much. Not really an Animal Crossing fan and right now I have so much to play on my Switch.
"Travel Day" where seemingly half of Americans will be on planes or in cars going somewhere seems like a bad choice to me to release anything but I suppose it will cut down on server load.
@Captain_Gonru "always online"
That too. But overall it just seems like a bad day to release anything, people are otherwise distracted Wed, Thurs, Fri. And it's free-to-start, so it's not like BF sales will be a big part of it's marketing. But that "always online" requirement could be a legitimate problem. We have 4 smartphones in our house and we never turn on the data plans, wi-fi or nothing.
Monday or Tuesday would have been better.
I'll be trying it at least. Don't know how much I will play it.
I hate to say it of any franchise, but I think this may be best yet given it's on a mobile phone format because we know Nintendo aren't parasitic jerks when it comes to dishing out things in the game vs paying. They have this nice setup where you truly can buy or not, not feel limited, and so enjoy it you're cool paying up as a thank you vs being choked until coins fall out like most others.
This game being on a mobile device gives it unprecedented freedom never had before being stuck on a closed console/handheld device. Now you truly can be global with it and what better game than Animal Crossing. Visit, trade, find new stuff, make new friends, so much more exploration and tethered to an existing device you already carry every day anyway. This has victory written all over it well beyond what Mario, Fire Emblem, and likely Pokemon Go does too (since it has interest bursts around new Gens popping up.)
I’ll download this and give it a try. If nothing else it will get some run on thanksgiving/Black Friday. I don’t really like most mobile free to play games. Having never played Animal Crossing at least this will give me an idea of how the game mechanics work.
Looking forward to giving this a try, but I will not spend any real world money on this game. It'll make it slow to progress but oh well, more time to play Stardew Valley on Switch then, LOL!
Meh... they're using the term "worldwide" loosely. The game will be officially available in only 41 countries... mine is not one of them.
This game will only truly win if there is no online barrier.
That damn prerequisite jails everything!
@rjejr i cant imagine a better time to release a mobile game then the day when everyones sitting in car seats and on buses for the next 4 hours
@DarthFoxMcCloud the My Nintendo rewards for syncing your account is more money than i make in my first 4 days, and more materials for building then my first two weeks.
@HopeNForever its been available in "australia" for a month, but everyone i know in the states already has it. its worldwide for anyone that wants it
I would much much rather a Switch game, but I will give this some play. It will be nice on the train when it's too crowded to get a seat.
@Captain_Gonru I played AC for almost 2 hours this morning and now I have an uncontrollable urge to buy AC amiibo.
Nah, not really, I feel like after 2 hours I've seen everything the game has to offer. Does explain why you like Viva Pinata, I see a strong similarity.
