Zen Studios offered decent support for the Wii U and 3DS eShop, and it's now stepping up with the Switch eShop - it's confirmed that Pinball FX3 is coming to the store on 14th November; the initial download is free and includes the Sorcerer's Lair table, and you then buy other tables separately.
Check out the trailer below.
Starting off with Switch-specific features, it'll have HD Rumble and the option to play with a vertical orientation in portable mode, which is a neat touch. There'll be 30 tables available to buy at launch, with more promised, and cross-platform multiplayer will also be included. As you can see in the PR excerpt below the FX series puts multiplayer and tournaments at the heart of the game.
- Now every table is an RPG. Simply playing a table yields experience points and level
advancements that continually unlock the potential for bigger points...and bigger blowouts of
your friends’ scores on the leaderboards. Strategic thinking comes into play when determining
which power-ups to equip—one table might be best suited for a Skillshot Score Increase and
Multiball Score Bonus, while another might better benefit from Combo Time Bonus and
Distance Bonus team-up. - Players level up. The more you play, the higher your own personal experience level climbs.
- Anyone can start their own tournament. In addition to tournaments run by Zen (often involving
fantastic prizes), Pinball FX3 allows players to create their own tournaments and set them up
however they like, including access to several modes of play. - Advanced multiplayer features allow for intelligent matching against others based on skill level.
This applies to everything from immediate friendly matches to ultracompetitive League Play. - Cross-play enables Nintendo Switch players to take on opponents competing on most other
platforms where Pinball FX3 is available. - New modes will change the way you play even the tables you feel you’ve mastered. Playing a 1-
Ball Challenge, a 5-Minute Challenge or Survival Mode will cause you to completely rethink your
approach in order to top the leaderboards.
The complete list of tables at launch is below.
- Universal Classics Pinball (Back to the Future, E.T., Jaws)
- Aliens vs. Pinball (Aliens, Alien vs. Predator, Alien: Isolation)
- Balls of Glory (Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Archer, American Dad!)
- Portal
- The Walking Dead
- Sorcerer’s Lair (free)
- Carnivals & Legends (Adventure Land Pinball, Son of Zeus)
- Zen Classics (Shaman, Tesla, El Dorado, V12)
- Core Collection (Pasha, Rome, Biolab, Secrets of the Deep)
- Medieval Pack (Epic Quest, Excalibur)
- Sci-Fi Pack (Mars, Paranormal, Earth Defense)
- Iron & Steel (Wild West Rampage, CastleStorm)
We've confirmed with Zen Studios that pricing on the Switch will be exactly the same as on other platforms. On PS4, for example, The Walking Dead costs £2.49 in the UK while a pack like Universal Classics costs £7.99.
Are you excited about this one coming to the Switch? Let us know in the comments.

I really wish they'd just pack everything in together and stick a single price tag on it.
No Marvel or Star Wars tables?
no Star Wars or Marvel tables at launch?
I've got this on PC and while it is good - particularly the Portal table - it is just pinball. Not likely to double-dip for the sake of a game that will always be better played on mechanical hardware.
Don't mind having at least one pinball game there on my handheld of choice so this is nice. Not a big fan of having a free download and then buying tables separately but I'll take a look and maybe buy a couple.
Good news... I have almost all of their tables on PS3... a few on WiiU... I will grab 1 or 2 packs to play on the Switch... I wonder if the Marvel or Star Wars tables will ever find their way over?
@iNintendo @Mando446463 Doesn't look like it. They'll probably come at a later date.
I wish Zen would make a few Nintendo themed tables, plus some Sonic tables too.
Pinball FX2 in VR is the best pinball experience ever. I will have to try this on Switch to see how it feels...
@alasdair91
That would be a terrible idea, unless you want the "everything" package as a separate option? I already have a lot of their tables on other systems, so there is no way I would spend $50+ dollars, but I will gladly buy $10 worth and more in the future.
Nintendo themed tables would be the greatest news of the year...
Figured this would release sooner or later. Still good to have classics on a new system. Makes you wonder what other classic games will be coming Switch in 2018.
Wish all my tables I bought on PlayStation would carry over....
THE PORTAL TABLE!!!
Was just wondering if there will be a pinball game on switch, especially with vertical option.
Hope an option for full game purchase available.
Also wonder if you can connect to the 3DS games in regards to "cross platform"
Boom! Vertical play option also.
Good news
Oh no! I'm going to break the shoulder buttons on my joy-cons with this game. I've broken two Xbox 360 controllers playing Pinball FX 2.
@VinnieMii Same with both my 3DS shoulder buttons
Nice! I think it's a good option to be able to buy tables separately. I'm going for Aliens vs Pinball and Universal classics. Maybe they'll do a retail release later of all tables combined? Either way, excited for this!
Now that I have a new PC,I mostly play the Steam version instead of the Wii U and 3DS ones.Guess I'll keep doing it even if i buy a Switch.since there are more missing tables on Switch than on Wii U.
Not a whole lot I haven't played from that list but I want them all eventually.
@dystome I tend to agree, except when the game in question isn't seeking to mimic an actual table, e.g. games like Devil's Crush or Mario Pinball Land (wish we got more of those, tbh).
No cross-buy with Wii U?
If you bought tables on PS3, they were free on PS4 and VITA.
If you bought tables on 360, you got Xbox One and Win 10 versions for FREE.
Nice!!
@Ventilator I doubt cross-buy is possible, considering the Nintendo Switch does not have native support for Nintendo Network IDs. I know you can link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account, but it seems most of the cross-functions are merely arbitrary. There is a much better chance to cross-buy between the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS since they both support Nintendo Network natively.
They lost me at RPG components. Why does pinball need a leveling system?
I am super excited about this! Day 1 for the Balls of Glory pack!
I'm avoiding this until there is cross-buy with WiiU or Xbox or any other platforms that I've already bought past tables...at least once those tables are on here too
I have this on PS4 and those Universal-themed tables are pretty great.
Must buy for me. So many must buys!
And now Zen enters the Pinball arena on Switch. Figured it was only a matter of time, now I have more pinball fix options to look forward to
Sounds addictive with the points building up! I sure hope it runs at 60!
At least American Dad is on there, no Rick and Morty, though. Anyways if the main download is free, then I might try it out. I still want that Senran Kagura pinball game, though. xD
"Sorcerer’s Lair (free)"
This is a free table on most applications. It is also my favorite one. Anyone would be missing out if they didn't at least download this awesome freebie.
Goodbye my life in November. Not done with Odyssey yet, then L.A. Noire on the 14th already (+ this one now) + Skyrim and Pokémon on the 19th + RER 1 + 2 on the 28th. R.I.P. Social life XD.
Joking aside I hope the Star Wars tables will come to it soon enough. I'm glad the Aliens ones will be there at launch since the Wii U didn't get them at all (but we did get most of the Star Wars content though up to a certain point)
I'm not likely to re-buy my tables, but I'll pick up a few I missed just to test out the HD rumble and other features. However, come on, they REALLY need some Nintendo tables. BEGS for the Metroid pinball table to get ported or updated. PLZ
I have most on Xbox One....
Keen. Just hope the ball doesn't get stuck like it did on Wii U ZP2. Happy to give it another chance.
I'm excited
Soon as I get a Switch I'm getting this. Still have 9 tables to play on my Wii U. I thought I read that there were challenges with the Star Wars & Marvel license. But maybe those are getting resolved.
Sweet. I'm ready for the upgrade. I hope Farsight's Pinball arcade comes too eventually.
@Daggot agreed. I will get the carnival one and Portal. Maybe Universal Studios, but I have the rest.Don't see myself double dipping, but it is tempting bc pinball would be awesome on the fly with the Switch.
@dystome the vertical orientation is cool, and it is pinball! I love pinball
We want a Star Trek Table
@kobashi100 not so good, because you can turn only to play on right joy con and analog is on the middle and very occurt to play ,,another big BUG is when you turn the screen ,menu cursor not rotate and is impossible to choose proper options.
