I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about. If you all checked out the app's older Japanese community, which never ever had the option for screenshots, they're perfectly happy without it, and they are simply posting a lot of beautiful drawings using the native Miiverse handwritten messaging.
@Volmun Don't be surprised the lip sync is off. This Disney-branded show was originally in Spanish actually, and later dubbed into English for its pan-European release. Yeah, who said all of Disney's productions are of American origins?
Well... this is a long-standing tradition at Archie Comics after all. When their Sonic the Hedgehog comic series launched waaaay back in 1993 (not counting the original four-issue mini-series from the year before), the setting was initially heavily based on a fusion of the two original TV series which for some reason aired concurrently to each other in their prime, despite having two very different canons!
Albeit the comics did also have video game references, the series heavily expanded on both TV series canons, and in later years changed its tone to more darker mature story lines with much originality added whilst taking more stuff from the official video game stories, whilst apparently staying true to character and focused that the comics are suitable for younger readers, simultaneously keeping the appeal strong for their older fans as they grew up! Ian Flynn happens to be one of those kids who grew up reading the early comics, and this is why he is the best thing to happen to the series as it keeps moving forward!
Also, keep in mind Archie Comics did manage to later adapt the short-lived Sonic Underground TV series, as well as the Sonic X anime. This announcement for a Sonic Boom comic book adaptation should not be to anyone's surprise. Hopefully, with Ian Flynn taking care of this spin-off this time, it should see longer days than the Sonic X one, which for some reason failed to cover the third season.
Anyone enjoyed the 12-issue-spanned "World Collide" arc when Archie Comics performed a marketing stunt to crossover their Sonic the Hedgehog comics with their relatively new Mega Man comic series?
I've been suspecting that Nintendo of America were phasing out physical rewards on Club Nintendo especially with the huge reductions in the overall physical rewards as of late, but I didn't expect it to be THAT bad!
I'm not sure where the SCE people get their "data" about this, but personally speaking I somehow have an Xbox Live account, and I never even owned an Xbox console in my life! I could even register a PlayStation Network account any time if I wanted to, without having to even actually own any PlayStation console.
Why I have an Xbox Live account though? Well, I already long had a Microsoft account from the days of the defunct Hotmail brand, and I wanted to see if I can open an Xbox profile automatically under my old account, and apparently this seemed to be the case. Additionally, certain PC games, particularly the one branded with "Games for Windows - Live", could not be played with properly without an Xbox Live account.
"Robin" is supposedly the default name for the player's Avatar in Fire Emblem Awakening, but it was never explicitly used in the game's pre-rendered cut-scenes though. I wonder if there is an option to be able to customise the appearance and gender of the character the same way as in the original game.
I still cannot believe that the Wii U version of One Piece: Unlimited World RED got a digital-only release in North America, whilst the Nintendo 3DS version got it in retail form.
The wolf (or wolves) Midna is riding in this game is (or are) not Link. It is (or they are) just a Twilit Wolf (or Wolves) that happen to look very similar to Link's wolf form. After all, how the heck would Link and Midna battle on the same field if she were riding him all this time? Additionally, the wolf (or wolves) seem to perform certain feats that even the Wolf Link could not do.
Why do some people don't realise this is a fan project, and has no official support or consent from Sega whatsoever!? This game is only playable on PC platforms, and won't likely be ported to consoles.
Activision! Sheesh! Why are you so paranoid about the Nintendo eShop!? Is this the only reason you decided against releasing the home console version on the Wii U?
I cannot wait to see what Nintendo has in store for the final version of this game! I bet by next year it won't be recognised the same way as people experienced it at the E3 show floor.
@danielflugt As I understood it, I think @CrabGats made a comment unrelated to this article, and meant that is wondering why is there a "T" in "LGBT" - as in why lump some people with gender identity issues in the same group or mindset as other people with devious sexual orientations. I personally would most likely wonder that as well, as the two sub-groups are not really directly related by that logic.
Well... this is definitely not the same Atari I knew growing up. They decided they're not good with family-oriented electronic entertainment that they opted to go and please the "other side", probably under the assumption they would carter to all the kids that grew up with an Atari console, and shudder consequently left their gaming habits behind to go to that "other side".
I still don't understand how does Activision still feel like supporting Nintendo if they still don't release any of their retail titles on the Nintendo eShop, and not to mention they haven't announced Destiny for the Wii U yet either!
Not sure why they don't take full inspiration from the official Wii Remote Plus controllers with the alluded Mario character design, complete with their actual emblems rather than a generic letter based on the neo Super Mario game title typeface!
A lot of people seem eager to have Chrom appear in the game(s), but personally I cannot see how can that make much difference against Marth's appearance considering the fact that Chrom is a descendent of Marth after all, and they both look so similar in many ways, which is added by the fact that Lucina herself managed to initially deceive Chrom with her manly "Marth" persona. Ike is a much different kind of character though, and is a far more brutal swordsman!
How could a game we barely had any more info other than an initial announcement could get a release date already, and be released so soon as well? Even if the release date is Japanese, this heavily indicates that the game's development is long finished, and may get gold soon enough!
Getting a Wi-Fi USB Connector right now may be wasteful option though, and I certainly cannot change the router security protocol due to technical reasons. Good thing I no longer need to bother with online options in the older games.
IGN apparently gave a greater focus on the "one title will make a difference" when they reported this statement of Iwata's. Talk about a great difference in tone between articles on dedicated websites like Nintendo Life, and eye-grabbing weasel-writers of IGN!
How I personally really wish I could get those albums, but they're not available globally as people believe they are. Last year, Apple finally introduced iTunes Movies and iTunes Music for the Middle East region, but despite that they did not include every bit of content that is available in other countries, unlike iTunes Apps which practically shares nearly ALL software content between all countries where iTunes is officially available!
Looks like Nintendo's going back to its roots as being a game card manufacturer that diversified into other realms of lucrative businesses. Let's hope they don't fall for failed ventures, like they did with love hotels a very long time ago! Hoo! I think they are still printing card games to this day though!
Of course, in this day and age, where the company did indeed establish itself as THE image of a video game company for the past three to four decades, not to mention making very notable contributions to video game history along the way, both in Japan and on global scales, I really hope Nintendo knows to diversify whilst staying within the game we all know and love - the gaming industry. (Pun fail methinks)
Why is everyone here so alarmed? The Wii U has been getting shovelware since day one. Nobody seems to remember a certain Wii U-exclusive launch title with a heavily panned critical acclaim, known as Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade, a title which was also released in Japan!
I can see how there is real potential to exploit the features of Mario Kart TV. I sure hope Nintendo does keep up this sort of shenanigans - it's what they do best!
I wonder what this means to another obscure emerging market for video games, notably known as the Middle East. It's a mixed bag, in my opinion though, because whilst the Middle East usually looked on as a region, contrary to popular Western belief each country within that region works very differently from the others.
Anyway, I'm interested how Nintendo will approach mainland China for starters. They already have the iQue 3DS XL selling, with a few retail games, notably Nintendo-published titles, and a gradually growing library of eShop games too!
This piece of news should not come as surprising, considering Nintendo have been for the past year reassuringly mentioning to release mobile device apps to compliment their game products. They have to begin somewhere of course, and Mario Kart 8 is a great place to begin with... I only question why it took them this long though.
Despite the negative air here, apparently the Kickstarter campaign already managed to collect one-third of its primary funding target, and the campaign was only launched a few days ago.
Not sure which is more cringeworthy: This video footage , or the game's horrid logo design. I really, really hope there is definitely more work to be done on this. I love me some space games!
Ah! I already have a retail copy of the first Art Academy, and the Nintendo 3DS entry as well, and am planning to get SketchPad once I have a Wii U... and YET, I gotta have my artsy hands on this bold new entry too!
I cannot believe that the people have been playing this game since 1985, and they still think that Mario uses his head to break blocks? What about all these official illustrations that clearly shows Mario using his fists? I know the following example is actually one of the newer illustrations, but I'm pretty sure there are similar and older examples people could reference.
People seem to forget this game is made for the sake of spreading innocent Nintendo humour, and is not to be taken as a serious dating sim and whatnot.
Besides, why does Nintendo need to break face with what really makes this game attractive to its players? I wish people on Nintendo Life would just continue playing the games they love without thinking about the political inconsistencies of human societies, as it leads to nothing but so much heartache.
Hopefully, someday I shall legitimately collect every single game in the series. I already have some of the games to start things off, but this might take a while since there are other games with some priority that I want too.
I thought Nintendo's products are usually sold in the People's Republic of China under the iQue brand, and they don't even use the term original "Nintendo" anywhere on products or packaging.
By the way, these aren't necessarily the first Wii Remote-like controllers in China. I am aware there were various, modern NES clones fashioned after Wii consoles and controllers, but who could say more powerful, less notable consoles with similar motion controllers couldn't exist somewhere in the Chinese black market?
The PlayStation Move is a blatant rip-off of the Wii Remote, and that controller comes from a big, respectable Japanese company called Sony Computer Entertainment, and not to mention it is sold everywhere, including North America, where the people are lawsuit-trigger-happy.
I personally enjoyed Video Games Live when they organised a concert in Dubai for the very first time back in December 2012, and they promised performances for the next five years after the success of the first.
