The 3DS and Wii U eShops are sadly on their way out and, as expected, publishers are beginning to line up with some heavy discounts on their 3DS and Wii U software libraries in preparation for the store closures next March.
Just yesterday, Capcom launched their own 3DS sale in the US, and now developer and publisher Shin'en of Fast RMX and The Touryst fame is getting in on the action with heavy discounts across its catalogue on both 3DS and Wii U with an 'Everything Must Go' sale.
The 3DS sale is on now for both EU and US customers, but folks in the US will need to wait until March 18th for their Wii U discounts to come into effect. Similarly, EU customers have a bit longer to take advantage of the discounts. Here are the sale times:
3DS
- EU: 15/03/2022 - 14/04/2022
- USA: 15/03/2022 - 04/04/2022
WiiU
- EU: 15/03/2022 - 14/04/2022
- USA: 18/03/2022 - 07/04/2022
And here's a rundown of the full line-up (Wii U prices in Euros — we'll update once the US prices are confirmed):
Game | Price |
---|---|
Nano Assault EX (3DS) | |
Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH! (3DS) | |
Jett Rocket 2: The Wrath of Taikai (3DS) | |
Art of Balance TOUCH! (3DS) | |
Fast Racing Neo (Wii U) | |
Art of Balance (Wii U) | |
Nano Assault Neo (Wii U) |
Is there anything in this line-up that tickles your fancy? We gave Nano Assault EX a hefty 9/10 in our original review, so that one might be worth a punt! Let us know your thoughts with a comment down below.

Would love to see everything go to the Switch
I hope they port Fast Racing Neo and Nano Assult Neo to the Switch. Those games were so much fun.
Nano Assault Neo on the Wii U is an excellent game. Short but a lot of fun. Go get it!
We need Nano Assault Neo on Switch.
@Nymos Fast was out on Switch on day one. Search Fast RMX.
Love this! Shame I own every one of these games already 😂
Hopefully more publishers follow suit. I'd love for the Capcom sale to come to Europe as well so I can pick up the last Ace Attorney game.
This is what you get for not releasing a PAL physical version of the original - I buy your game for peanuts.
I hope Nintendo does one. I’d love to get half off Mario 3d land and Picross 3d. Won’t hold my breath though.
Pretty sure Fast RMX has all of Neo's content, plus more. So that's not as essential, but I've picked up Jett Rocket. Art of Balance is on Switch too
Dang. I just picked up both Nano Assaults a couple of weeks ago. I should have noticed on PSPrices their willingness to discount.
It's been a while since their last game. I wonder what are they working on right now.
Good sales, but I already own them
A smart move. Any game not on Switch should get a big discount to get as much money as they can.
Correct me if I'm wrong but there's actually still a full YEAR before these shops shut down, right?
Oooh. Interesting. The only one I have from this list is Fast Racing Neo. Might pick up some more...
@FantasiaWHT credit card payment will no longer be accepted as of May. eShop cards will no longer be accepted as of August.
Fine. I'll get NA Neo and Minigolf after all. Maybe Balance 3D, too. Already have the rest.
@AG_Awesome Nintendo will probably avoid detracting from their successful console, especially its subscription offerings. I'd be happy to be wrong, though.
@Thomystic Their discounts
have been Nintendo-tier tho, and only lately grown to 50%. Only exception was Jett 2, which I got for a buck.
@FantasiaWHT Ya.
most of these are on Switch, but Nano Assault EX is a treat on 3DS. the 3D visuals in that one are masterful.
@CharlieGirl True, but I believe if you’ve linked your Wii U and/or 3DS to your NNID you can use any credit you’ve added via your Switch right up to store closures.
Fast racing neo was one of my favorites on WiiU.
I should get some of these!
I'm a big admirer of Shin'en's work all the way back to the Wii. :v
UPDATE: Only Wii U game of theirs I was missing was Nano Assault Neo. So I got that!
(15 danish crowns. Had to add 100 through the website to buy it. So now I have 85kr. for more stuff. Yay?)
Such a nice gesture on Shin'en's part. I hope other companies follow suit (I know Capcom is on 3DS).
But...digital games are infinite? Kind of an odd thing to say.
Nano Assault EX on 3DS was good, I'll make sure to buy its Wii U sequel in this sale. I'm interested in Fast Racing and Art of Balance too but they're on Switch so I'll get them on there another time.
Good to see Shin'en is doing this, I hope more publishers follow suit. They don't necessarily need to, as the impending shutdown means people are more likely to buy eShop games soon anyway (which I'm sure Nintendo is fully aware of and will keep all their games at full price, annoyingly) but it's a nice gesture and sales make it easier for people to afford everything they want.
@CharlieGirl But if your Switch and 3DS/WiiU are both linked to the same Nintendo account, you can add funds on the Switch and spend them on the WiiU or 3DS.
At least that's what I did to buy The Denpa Men the other day. Maybe different regions work differently?
@FX102A @Ogbert Correct! But unfortunately, not everyone has linked their systems to their NNID.
I’ll probably get Nano Assault Neo and Art of Balance at these prices. Would be rude not to. I have all the others I think, including the physical release they did on the Wii U (Fast Racing Neo was it?).
@AG_Awesome just pick up 3d land no matter what. It’s really good
@Nontendo_4DS I actually had no idea gold points were added for 3DS until last night - I redeemed my MK8 Expansion code on Switch and noticed I had way more points than I was expecting
@Nontendo_4DS True! I've already gotten 520 gold coins from doing some eShop panic buying 😅
@Ravio18 I know. I owned it and beat it. I’m not buying it again for full price. Lol.
@Burning_Spear @Magician Do you know if the 3DS game is a completely different game in comparison with the Wii U one?
Don't you forget to mention the insane deal for virtue's last reward. For 5 bucks you get the best, most intense story you've ever played!
Probably this will get lost in the comments, but I'm genuinely curious to know how many there are out there with working Wii Us... I was a kind of an early adopter and my 2013 32 GB New Super Mario Bros. bundle just out of the blue got the dreaded 160-0103 error. I still can access the main hub after turning it on but everything else, including system settings, is blocked away by a black screen that says there is a problem with the system memory. Looking up online this is an unfixable Wii U issue. Some units will have it others won't.
Joy-con drifting aside (which I've got a couple and also the tearing of the circuit strip thingy responsible for the LEDs and ZL an ZR buttons which don't get enough mention imho) it's amazing how some Nintendo products have dropped in quality and durability. On one hand, my official Playtronic (Brazilian company licensed by Nintendo) NES made in Brazil which I bought in '94, my NTSC SNES from '96, my GBC from 2001 all are still up and running. (Non-Nintendo products too, the same goes for all the Tec Toy Sega stuff I have around ('91 Mega Drive, '93 Master System, '95 Sega CD, '98 Saturn). Whereas my 2008 DS lite already got screen burn-in, My 2016 New N3DS keeps randomly turning on and off and my aforementioned Wii U is a brick. Nothing lasts forever but it's such a bummer.
(Inb4 someone says that I don't take proper TLC with my stuff because I do too, ok?)
Have a great day y'all!
@John_Deacon Couldn't say. I've never played the 3DS game.
More companies that released games on 3DS/Wii U need to do this.
Sold! Grabbed Jett Rocket and Art of Balance. Already got Nano and the Golf one doesn't look like my kinda thing...
@Ralizah Nintendo should have all of the digital games at least 90 percent off until the shops are closed. And they should be free the last month. Any third parties that have games on those shops should also be made to follow those rules. We're entitled to play these games. Why should they be so expensive when everyone has clearly had enough time to buy them at full price? Don't be anti-consumer for once, Nintendo!
To this day Fast RMX still doesn't had a physical release. C'mon Shin'en I need this game for real.
Yes! This is what I would love to see Nintendo do!
Everything must go, sounds like 'while supplies last', which is weird considering supplies are infinite, it's just that the shop closes up. Probably just a 'me-thing'.
But yeah, I have pretty much all of these games already, Nano Assault on both systems, Fast on Switch. And while I recently picked up my 3ds again for RE Revelations in its best form, more Etrian Odyssey, DS Plants vs Zombies, and some more memories, I don't think I'll buy 'new' games for it. Unless something amazing comes out of nowhere, like RE Revelations 3 being 3ds exclusive, or later developers want to experiment with the unique features again on physical media. Or other physically released games I want but don't own yet finally get a decent price cut... (so probably never).
@Nontendo_4DS
Wait! What?
So this means that after everything is said and done my Switch is also getting some games?
EDIT: (checks his Gold Points balance)
It's true. I had about 98 Mexican pesos in Gold Points before merging funds, and now I have 102 pesos after some purchases on the Wii U.
Had I known that, I would've merged funds before buying some stuff, including the games in Rusty's Real Deal Baseball.
Now that changes the dynamic
Until lat May, I'm adding funds with my card on the Wii U to buy on the Wii U at home and on the 3DS at work (my wifi at home hates the 3DS).
After that and until late August, I'm adding funds via prepaid cards.
Finally after late August I'm adding funds on the Switch.
I just picked up most of these when they were half price a month ago. But I'll jump on Nano Assault EX now. I didn't get that one, because I have the physical, but for $2, it's worth it for the added circle pad support. (which I'll also get to use with my new purchase of RE: Revelations.)
@HammerGalladeBro Yup, same 5% in gold coins for 3DS purchases. The only thing I'm not sure about is if that works if it's through the 3DS itself, or just the website. Make sure your NNID and Nintendo Account are linked.
A Switch version of Art of Balance is long overdue.
@FX102A I believe that's the case too. I wish Nintendo would confirm this, but I believe if a Wii U or 3DS account is linked to the NNID, you can keep adding funds to those accounts through the Switch right up until the shops close. So no need to top off now.
@Jeff2sayshi I believe Nano Assault EX adds more than Circle Pad support. I think there's more content.
@HammerGalladeBro it doesn't work for DLC's, by the way (even something like the Fire Emblem Fates routes).
@Nontendo_4DS
Sequel... the game could still use work, especially the multiplayer.
I am glad some publishers are doing these sales! I just picked up Nano Stray EX and Art of Balance. Both are great games
@juliobrand My Wii U stills works fine and is played regularly. My Switch gets a lot more use but I've had fan trouble plus multiple faults on all 4 of my joycon.
@juliobrand I have 3 wiiu (two of them launch) that work just fine.
Can't wait to see what Shin'en puts out next. All 3 Wii U games are dynamite!
@PtM discounts only going up to 50% sounds more like Capcom and Koei Tecmo
@GravyThief (yep)
I just added money to my account via my Nintendo Account, which is linked to my Nintendo Network ID on the 3DS and Wii U. This way i'll be able to purchase games until March 2023 on those platforms.
I have Fast RMX on Switch and Art of Balance on Wii U. Both great games. Didn't realize they had the same publisher (developer?). Huh.
I wish they could bring Nano Assault Neo to Switch...
But no, they chose PS4 instead.
@garfreek It's also the most bugged version
Got myself some nano-assault goodness for the 3DS, nice gem i didn't know off before.. this is exactly what i hoped for... closing things is actually an important ritual (although i share preservation concerns)
Got FAST Racing NEO for 2.99€, because I always wanted to give this a try. I like it so far, I love the insane speed. Sadly, the DLC still costs 5.99€, twice as much as the game currently.
I may get FAST RMX in the future, but only if it becomes available via cartridge.
FastRMXs online is so bad. It is actually fake.
It looks only good, when played alone with online people, but the whole experience is fake. You play against bots.
Once you have three friends in the same room playing against each other, you see how bad it is. Just let everyone frequently call out their position. During the entire first round, everyone (!!) is first. Then you feel someone bumping into yourself and your friend is screaming "I overtook you", but he did only on this console. You may overtake others, but they only get collision rumble, if you hit them.
Even the score board is broken. Sometimes it shows players with higher times before faster players.
We did the same test with the WiiU version and three WiiU in the same room. Real online game play start to end and everything is fine.
Since there wasnt any update to the switch version, we never played it again on a meet up.
@Fiskern I don't remember any big problems? But maybe I was lucky!
(I do think playing it on the Ds makes it extra nice, it's so cosy trading it like a good book! 😁)
@juliobrand My Wii U, which has seen very heavy use, works just fine... As long as I'm using any controller other than the game pad. But it's almost impossible to keep the signal between the game pad and the console connected. It's in the shop for it's third repair for this problem. If it fails again (and at this point, I'm pretty pessimistic), I might try to buy a whole new console. On the 3DS side of the house, I've never had any trouble with any of the four I own except the one I dropped repeatedly. Considering that I abused it to the point that the casing is breaking apart, I think the fact that it works at all is pretty impressive.
@Nymos Fast Racing Neo is on Switch as Fast RMX
@HolyGeez03 Art of Balance release on Switch 3 years ago
