Re: Taito's 'Field Day' Sprints Onto Switch Today Via Arcade Archives

I’ll join the ranks of never having seen this game before. Track n Field seemed to be everywhere I went as a kid and that was a good thing.

Who remembers that when you played button mashers (Daley Thompson, Hypersports etc) on Spectrum with a joystick, you had to waggle the stick rather than press buttons? I killed a lot of Kempston joysticks playing those games.

@nhSnork Glad to hear it. Also, I just read back my comment and it was maybe a bit overly sarcastic. I’ve a very snarky sense of humour and usually forget that not everyone appreciates it. Hopefully my comment was taken in good humour and rest assured, it wasn’t meant to be offensive!

@nhSnork I’m Gen X; even more ancient than yourself. Hence I haven’t attached a gif, because I can’t work the internets. When I was a child, my games console of choice was a stick with some string on the end. That was after rationing ended of course.

That said, I’m still not prepared to buy an inferior product, for more money. You’ll understand when you get to be as old as me.

@The_Nintend_Pedant “ ...YOU WOULD'NT STEAL A CAR!!”

Well, I for one would be driving a nice shiny new car if I could just download one from a car piracy site for free.

In fact, I’d download all the cars and keep them on a hard drive (pun lovers, you’re welcome) resulting in literally billions of rupees in lost revenue for the industry, because I totally would have bought them if it wasn’t for the wretched piracy.

Sounds like they did a great job with this. I’m never that keen on remakes just being remasters, so I welcome all the extra content here, even if the core gameplay has been tweaked a bit.

The original game exists for those who want the classic experience and you can emulate that in upscaled HD, with a higher frame rate and save states etc if it’s just QOL upgrades you’re craving.

Re: Of Course Mario Kart World Is Being Review Bombed

HingryHuppo

Some people will give it a 10 and some people will give it a zero. Both would be exaggerated. Despite the new additions, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel (pun intended,) and I personally prefer both wii and 8.

7.5 is plenty fair imho, but it will no doubt end up much higher once it settles.

“Analogue triggers are overrated in my opinion.
Yes, for serious racing games they are essential.”

You hit the nail on the head. They’re “essential” for some games; especially GameCube games such as Mario Sunshine where you control the power of fludd by analogue trigger.

Leaving an essential feature off of a premium Pro controller, when they heavily advertised GameCube games for Switch 2 in the build up shows very poor respect.

@Matt-e-r Please let me know where you buy your t shirts! I get through so many in my work.

Where I live, we have a saying that certain people can “see you coming”. It means that someone will raise the price of something based on what they think you’re willing to pay. For me €80 is too much, even for a game that I really want and there are so many people saying similar things and if I can’t afford the games, I’m not going to buy the console
