I’ll join the ranks of never having seen this game before. Track n Field seemed to be everywhere I went as a kid and that was a good thing.
Who remembers that when you played button mashers (Daley Thompson, Hypersports etc) on Spectrum with a joystick, you had to waggle the stick rather than press buttons? I killed a lot of Kempston joysticks playing those games.
@milonorth The whole thing has snowballed over the years. The reason there’s such a big gap is that it was originally going to be DLC, but at some point, they decided to pull that and turn it into a full game. Then the internet went bonkers.
@nhSnork Glad to hear it. Also, I just read back my comment and it was maybe a bit overly sarcastic. I’ve a very snarky sense of humour and usually forget that not everyone appreciates it. Hopefully my comment was taken in good humour and rest assured, it wasn’t meant to be offensive!
@nhSnork I’m Gen X; even more ancient than yourself. Hence I haven’t attached a gif, because I can’t work the internets. When I was a child, my games console of choice was a stick with some string on the end. That was after rationing ended of course.
That said, I’m still not prepared to buy an inferior product, for more money. You’ll understand when you get to be as old as me.
@Tyranexx If you beat Metroid Dread and Shovel Knight, you’ll be fine with Hollow Knight. The really hard bits are mostly optional. I do recommend giving it a go if you’ve ever been tempted, as it’s a superb metroidvania and costs only about a tenner I think, so you’ve nothing to lose.
As far as I can tell, this had a physical release, so you’ll still likely be able to buy a copy 40 years from now. Long live physical and boooo to digital only.
@The_Nintend_Pedant “ If every download = money lost, then I wonder how many copies of SMB downloaded = bankruptcy for Nintendo? 🤔”
Given that in financial year 2024, 81.3% of Nintendo’s nett profits were attributed to suing the public, I reckon they’d actually go bankrupt if people stopped stealing from them.
@The_Nintend_Pedant “ ...YOU WOULD'NT STEAL A CAR!!”
Well, I for one would be driving a nice shiny new car if I could just download one from a car piracy site for free.
In fact, I’d download all the cars and keep them on a hard drive (pun lovers, you’re welcome) resulting in literally billions of rupees in lost revenue for the industry, because I totally would have bought them if it wasn’t for the wretched piracy.
Sounds like they did a great job with this. I’m never that keen on remakes just being remasters, so I welcome all the extra content here, even if the core gameplay has been tweaked a bit.
The original game exists for those who want the classic experience and you can emulate that in upscaled HD, with a higher frame rate and save states etc if it’s just QOL upgrades you’re craving.
His creative vision and courage arguably saved the industry more than once; not to mention he is remembered as a true friend to literally all who knew him. That’s the rarest of combinations.
Just another day on the internet. Always tickles me that people who use social media are surprised and upset by the behaviour of people who use social media.
Some people will give it a 10 and some people will give it a zero. Both would be exaggerated. Despite the new additions, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel (pun intended,) and I personally prefer both wii and 8.
7.5 is plenty fair imho, but it will no doubt end up much higher once it settles.
I’ve not played this one, but 51 levels of free DLC has definitely sold it to me. That’s how you support your customers properly, while adding new sales.
It’s got to the point where I’m losing interest in modern gaming. The last time I felt this way, Nintendo came along and made it exciting again with NDS and then Wii. I think a lot of people were hoping for that magic again this generation.
I’m mostly concerned that this is the first movement by games companies to say that keycards just give you a license to play and not ownership of the game you bought.
“Analogue triggers are overrated in my opinion.
Yes, for serious racing games they are essential.”
You hit the nail on the head. They’re “essential” for some games; especially GameCube games such as Mario Sunshine where you control the power of fludd by analogue trigger.
Leaving an essential feature off of a premium Pro controller, when they heavily advertised GameCube games for Switch 2 in the build up shows very poor respect.
@PolitiClank “ I disagree completely. The point of repairability is to be future proof”
I think you’re disagreeing with an argument I didn’t actually make. Of course the point of repairability is to extend the consoles life beyond that of its individual parts.
Having never played a borderlands game before, my initial reaction was that he doesn’t seem very interested in procuring new customers for his company.
You should always charge to 71% Then press up, down, left, right, up, down, left, right, X, A, Y, B. Then howl like a wolf (only do this on a full moon, though.) If done correctly, you can now play as Bowser in Super Punch Out. Doesn’t do much to help the battery though.
Ah, the memories of phoning in sick to work so I could complete it without the pesky interruptions of whatever that thing is that happens on the other side of windows. Would never do that now of course. Mainly because I’m self employed and don’t need to phone in.
“ Dr. Nintendo offered more than pills” Sounds so much creepier than it should.
On a more serious note, most people will suffer from poor mental health at least once at some point in life and it warms the heart to read this article.
To be honest, I find it hard not to root for the other side no matter if they deserve it or not. Nintendo have become the school bully and I just don’t like how they behave these days.
@Matt-e-r Please let me know where you buy your t shirts! I get through so many in my work.
Where I live, we have a saying that certain people can “see you coming”. It means that someone will raise the price of something based on what they think you’re willing to pay. For me €80 is too much, even for a game that I really want and there are so many people saying similar things and if I can’t afford the games, I’m not going to buy the console

Re: "I Can't Afford To Give It Away For Free" - Silksong's Low Price Is Causing Devs To Re-Evaluate Their Own Games
@koopababble “I think these small developers are psyching themselves out by comparing themselves to Hollow Knight.”
It’s not obvious given the quality of the games, but Team Cherry are a very small studio.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong's Price Appears To Have Leaked
You can’t fault the integrity of Team Cherry. 20 Rupees is the same price as some Nintendo upgrade packs for Switch 2.

@Hee-ho-master Assuming you’re trolling, but it was given 7/10 by the reviewer, literally inches above your comment.

Technically it’s their lawyers who are usually in touch with the fans, but I can see what he means.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Be Playable At Gamescom 2025
@robr “ The Game Kitchen brought us Blasphemous, Blasphemous 2 and Ninja Gaiden Ragebound in less time than Silksong.”
True, but they have around 5 times more employees, so they’re actually slower unless they whip out another 2 games before silksong releases.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Be Playable At Gamescom 2025
@RemyMartin haha, I feel precisely the opposite. Hades was ok to me. Hollow Knight was incredible.
Re: Doronko Wanko Trots Onto Switch Today
Reminds me of a duvet that my German neighbour generously donated to me that on the label in huge letters declared “Kochfest”.

Re: Capcom Is Recording Switch 2 Game-Key Card Purchases As "Digital Sales"
@Mesozoic_Masquerade In my country you own the physical media that you buy. You don’t own the copyright. EULAs are a civil matter.
I don’t currently have a legal right to sell digital purchases, because they can be said to violate copyright.

This is a bit like awarding SMB3 a 1 out of 10 score, because it doesn’t have the same modern QOL features that Odyssey does.

Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 And Switch 1 Prices Have Been Revealed
