Re: Atlus Reveals New Details About Persona's 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Heavyarms55

Persona on Switch? Real Persona, as in the JRPG, not a side story spin off that's a totally different genre of game?

Naw. At this point we know that's probably not happening. After literally years of fans asking for those games on Switch and Atlus showing as much interest in that as Nintendo is in having an actual upgrade to the Switch Home Menu.

Re: Here's Our First Look At Pokémon Trading Card Game Live, Coming "Soon"

Heavyarms55

Everyone's acting like this isn't coming to the Switch. I really think it is. If you read about it, the version that's coming to PC and mobile isn't really going to be a finished product. It's not going to even have all of the already announced formats or even cards at launch. It's only going to have like mid Sun/Moon onwards and will only support a standard format ladder.

My prediction is that once they finish working the bugs out on PC and mobile, then they'll bring it to Switch.

And frankly, this needed to happen. The current Pokemon Trading Card Game client is laughably obsolete compared to like, any other digital card game active today. Like Magic and Yugioh.

Re: Random: Apple's iPhone 13 Pro Max Has A Larger Battery Capacity Than The Nintendo Switch

Heavyarms55

@Meteoroid Right?! Like, are people seriously directly comparing a brand new 1000 dollar phone to a 300 dollar game system from 2017 and acting like they are surprised when the former does something better?

I'm like, I gosh darn hope it's better! 4 years newer and more than triple the price!

Although the Switch has USB-C and iPhone still has apples stupid proprietary nonsense. So maybe Apple would be dumb enough to not be better in other categories as well. Hmmm.

Re: Feature: How Accessible Are Zelda, Pokémon And Animal Crossing For Blind Gamers?

Heavyarms55

Umm what? How can their be a blind video gamer? I don't understand how that can be possible.

I guess this is the legal definition of blind? So just poor enough eyesight that it's considered to be a disability?

I clicked on this article thinking it would be able going into a game "blind" as in knowing nothing at all about it. I don't understand how a blind person could play any video game. It's no fault of their own, I'm not blaming them for it. I just don't understand how it could even be a thing.

Re: Anniversary: Goodness Me, Is The GameCube Really 20 Years Old?

Heavyarms55

I never understood why PS2 and Xbox were so much more popular. While I like that whole generation of consoles a ton, GC is my easy favorite.

GC games still look quite solid if the resolution is scaled for modern TVs. I have one of those HDMI adapters for mine and not that long ago played through Pokemon Colosseum using it. It was a great time!

So Nintendo, let's get some more GC era ports! Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Double Dash, Twilight Princess?

Like I don't even need remakes. Just cleaned up ports.

I know how unlikely it is, but if we got the Pokemon titles my dream would be that they can natively send Pokemon to Home as well. Although that can still be done with the originals. You just have to trade them to the GBA titles first, move them to the DS 4th gen games, then to the 5th gen games. From there you can send them into Pokemon Bank on 3DS and from there you can send them into Home.

Yes, I have done that many times. lol

Re: The Walking Dead's Negan and Maggie Join Brawlhalla As Playable Fighters Next Week

Heavyarms55

There was a time I really really liked this series. I used to follow each episode as they were released.

But my key issue with the show is the turnover of the cast. I got so sick of "Let's introduce these characters and then kill them all off next season" and "Oh look, they're finally safe now! Lol JK, did you think they are safe? It's actually a death cult!" It really felt like they were doing those things over and over again. I couldn't bring myself to care anymore because we just knew these new characters were gonna die and whatever settlement they built that season would be destroyed. Because it always happened.

I was watching a newer episode with my uncle the other day, and I have no idea who the show is even following now. Are Maggie, Carol and Daryl the only people left from the first few seasons?

Re: Talking Point: Switch Vs. PS5 And Xbox - Nintendo Preps For The Holidays With A New SKU And European Price Cut

Heavyarms55

I have a gaming PC that can play basically anything PS5 or XboxX can so I just have little to no reason to buy either. The small handful of exclusives that Sony and MS have is dwindling all the time and both machines offer an extremely similar gaming experience to each other and little to nothing that my PC can't do.

YES, the PC cost far more and for a LOT of gamers it's just not an option. I got very lucky to get a PC when I did at the price point I did.

And then I have the Switch. It has a metric crapton of some of the best 1st party content around, and sorry, I don't even consider that an opinion, it's backed up by sales numbers. Pokemon, Mario, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Metroid, Zelda, Animal Crossing, and many more Nintendo exclusive series that consistently do well and I personally consistently enjoy as well.

And then the Switch is a Switch - it's a hybrid platform. I can pick it up and take it with me anywhere I feel like bringing it or I can set it back on the dock and keep playing. I love that design. It's simple brilliance.

Simply put, Nintendo does what Sony and Microsoft don't. I can barely see the difference between PS5 and XboxX. It's like the difference between a Ford Fusion and a Toyota Camery. They're both sedans of similar sizes and do almost the exact same thing with little to nothing beyond appearance meaningfully different between them. Nintendo Switch is the Tesla sitting next to that Ford and Toyota. Sure, maybe what it offers isn't what you're looking for. But at least it's something different and not just another cookie cutter machine.

The only machine I really see as even worth considering aside from Switch and PC(for those who can afford a PC anyway) is the Steamdeck. But that's far more expensive than a Switch, and it's Valve. I seriously do not trust Valve to continue to support the device long term. And even if it does end up getting that long term support, to be honest, most games I play on PC, I play with keyboard and mouse because they're games like Civ 6, Cities Skylines and SW Empire at War with mods. All games that don't play as comfortably, or even at all, with a controller. But that's mostly a matter of personal taste. For a lot of folks the Steamdeck is gonna be a lot cooler. Though at that price point I still don't think it's a good buy.

Re: Rumour: Switch Will Receive A Price Cut Ahead Of The OLED Model's Launch

Heavyarms55

This rumor is as likely as a Switch Pro coming out in 2021. lol

I'd be happy to be wrong of course, but I don't see them releasing the OLED model at 350 only to drop the OG model's price. Just doesn't make sense.

Nintendo could surprise everyone and release the OLED model cheaper than originally announced and drop the OG model's price at the same time. But I doubt that as well.

However I think that this rumor is probably actually true, from a certain point of view. The OG Switch will probably drop in price... on Black Friday just for that weekend.

Re: Nintendo's Giving Away Free Trials For Switch Online, Even If You've Used One Before (Europe)

Heavyarms55

Nintendo if you want more subs you should probably actually update the service. They barely even add new NES and SNES games anymore. Let alone other legacy platforms.

GB/GBC/GBA? N64? GameCube?

Messaging? Invites? Voice chat? Themes? Player icons?

I love Switch and Nintendo but I am losing patience with their bizarre and illogical refusal to do even the most basic improvements to their services.

Hobbyists in their basements had emulators running on Switch years ago. Fan made patches have given us everything I listed and so much more.

Nintendo even die hard fans like me are running out of patience with you.

NSO is dirt cheap. And it feels dirt cheap too.

Re: Random: This Nintendo Switch UI Redesign Makes The Home Menu And eShop Look Like Apple's iOS

Heavyarms55

@SwitchVogel This remains one of the strangest things Nintendo has done in recent years. They've almost never touched the Switch Home menu. Very minimal things in over 3 years since launch and several major system updates.

They even set up things that suggested planned updates that have never arrived. Like "themes". Knowing what the 3DS had and even sold premium versions of - it seemed to suggest we'd get themes other than light and dark. They also used to add more player icons with each big update until... they just stopped for no reason.

They seem to have an almost irrational level of devotion to the Switch home menu as it is.

I agree that it is a good Home menu. But there are so many small things they could add or change that would make it so much more functional, and retain the basic design.

Re: Japan's Pokémon Centers Are Currently Closed Due To Ongoing State Of Emergency

Heavyarms55

I work in a hospital currently, if you think the pandemic is over and we are past this kind of thing, you live in a fairy tale.

The US should have closed back down weeks ago and never let children back into schools. Tens of thousands of people have gotten sick that way.

I have seen the numbers, if the US cared at all about her own citizens, even 1/10th as much as Japan cares about its own people, we'd be doing the same thing.

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Old Pokémon Games Would Now Be Rated 18+

Heavyarms55

@KingMike Don't get me wrong. I am a massive Pokemon fan. I have been since I got Blue version in 1st grade and even before that seeing my friends play it.

But game mechanics or not, that is what Pokemon is. That is what trainers do. No matter how much friendship talk they shove in. Lol. It's dog fighting with super powered animals.

But that's just it. It's okay because it's obviously fiction. It's not real.

And that's the point people are making about this nonsense and lootbox surprise mechanics and microtransactions. Those are real!

Re: New PEGI Gambling Criteria Means Old Pokémon Games Would Now Be Rated 18+

Heavyarms55

You're joking right? The things we see on TV and in movies that get by with PG or PG13 on a regular basis, but the mere existence of a gambling mini game makes a game PEGI 18?

I can watch superhero movies full of sociopaths and world ending madmen with the kids, but Pokemon would be inappropriate because of a slot machine?

Next you'll be telling me that female nipples are more taboo than violence too...

Oh.

This is stupid.

Think about this, Pokemon is PEGI 18 not because you enslave animals for combat but because there's an entirely optional slot machine mini game.

Think about this, a movie is acceptable to show to kids if it's full of violence and death, Transformers, Avengers, Star Wars... but if you add a 3 second scene of a top less girl, suddenly it would be crossing a line, 17/18+.

Stupid.

Re: Talking Point: If Nintendo Switch Online Adds Game Boy, Why Not Throw In GBA, Too?

Heavyarms55

Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Golden Sun, Harvest Moon, Mario and Luigi and so many more. GBA games are at the top of my wish list for NSO.

But on GB and GBC there's still some great games I would like to see. Pokemon, Pokémon TCG, Mario, LoZ, Tetris... just to name a few.

But I am not getting my hopes up. Nintendo seems pretty reluctant to put rpg/jrpgs on NSO. If the SNES games are any indication.
