@RupeeClock Yeah, but Eevee is a great choice for a repeat. It's hugely popular and has several evolutions. This will be great for collectors who didn't get enough the first time around and for newer players looking for their faves.
@15roundTKO yeah. All those other new games we've had on the system don't exist. And it's definitely the same people at Nintendo who handle ports as develop new titles. After all, Nintendo is a small indie company with only a handful of staff after all. Lol
@SwankyKong64 Please, stop. If I wanted to pirate games, it would be very easy to do so on my actual gaming PC. My PC has enough power to emulate much newer titles than that. But I'm not a dirty thief. I have only ever emulated games I have legitimately purchased.
That people consider the ability to run stolen software as a plus is really just sad.
I think people are really disregarding the price point. The basic model is 50 dollars more money than the most expensive model of Switch.
And the premium model is over 600 dollars! For a portable video game, that's a huge ask for something like this. Yeah, people spend way more on phones, but phones are a lot more versatile and really, in today's society, almost necessary. But Something like Switch or Steamdeck is a lot more... extra.
I still think that, since the game sales only count physical - or at least that is what I have been told several times - that the game list is kinda pointless.
But hardware is hardware. And those numbers tell a clear picture. It's understandable why MS flopped in Japan, but clearly whatever Sony's been doing in their own home town in recent years has really not worked.
I lived in Japan for about 5 and a half years, and I know first hand how successful and popular Sony used to be in Japan. But I can't pinpoint any distinct reason why the PS4 fell off or why the PS5 has done so poorly.
And please spare me that "Japanese gamers don't like consoles/don't own TVs/only like portables" western delusion. It's just blatantly wrong.
To be frank, I am kinda sick of the love the 90s get. I mean, I was born in 92. So I played a bunch of these as a kid kid. But I feel much more nostalgia for the late 90s and early 2000s. N64, GB Color, GBA and GameCube. Folks like me are working adults now too. Where's the catering to our nostalgia?
I do not condone piracy. But I understand why people do it. The NES/SNES/Mega drive kids get their nostalgia everywhere. You can play SMW and Sonic on basically everything with a screen made in the last 15 years.
Where are the GBA era Fire Emblem titles? How about MK64? Where is Golden Sun? Or MK double dash? And so many many more?
Some and only some are on Wii U VC. Or 3DS VC. But both of those systems are just far less ideal than Switch could and should be.
I'm always questioning these kind of "leaks" Was the leak really a leak? Or did Nintendo get hacked? If it was a hack, shame on you for rewarding that. How would you take it if someone looted all your info and dumped it online?
I gave them 2 of those dollars. I thought it was a lot of fun. I had some random 3 dollars Google credit from somewhere so I only paid 2 bucks for my ticket. Caught something like 350 Pokemon, at least a dozen were new dex entries, 5 shinys including a legendary shiny too!
Made for a great weekend! Walked about 6 miles too. Little exercise is always good.
Makes me glad I am not a sports fan. Kind of insulting treatment if you ask me. These deliberately inferior versions of games should be much cheaper.
Imagine you take a car in for service and they tell you because you drive a Kia, it's just too hard to fully service your vehicle, so they're not giving you the tire rotation. But they're still charging full price for the services. It's basically that.
Everything wear out eventually. But considering how much more the Steamdeck costs, even for its cheapest model, it had better be built with higher quality components.
These folks have a habit of releasing hardware and abandoning it shortly after. Even though I find the Steamdeck tempting, I do not trust them to support it for very long.
That is modest compared to most western companies. More in line with what they should be making too, compared to the west where they make far more than is justified.
@Nookingtons So glad to see some skepticism in the comments for once! Maybe people really did learn from all the nonsense Switch Pro rumors that so many people were convinced were just "facts".
I'd love to see these games on Switch, but they've been rumored since like 2018, I ain't believing it until we get an official announcement.
I'd trust Nintendo over Bloomberg any day of the week.
Frankly I am really getting sick of all the negativity around this thing. It's feeling like Pokemon SWSH all over again. People outraged that this luxury item that no one is forcing them to buy isn't exactly what they wanted it to be...
And like Pokemon, you're not allowed to have any other opinions. You gotta fall in line and act like Nintendo has committed an unforgivable sin or something. And if you don't, you're gonna get a bunch of people attacking you if you express that dissenting opinion.
A gold bottle cap is a lovely freebie! And this Torkoal is a really solid Pokemon for VGC. Anyone who plays VGC is very aware of how much of a staple its been in gen 8.
That said, anyone who plays VGC probably already has a battle ready Torkoal. Because it very much is a staple Pokemon in the format.
But I really appreciate the gold bottle cap. I've been slow working my way through my shiny collection, making sure they're all EV and IV trained and battle ready.
I will go out on a limb and say I really hope if we get another freebie, they give us some ability patches. It's so grindy to save up enough dynite ore to get those...
Everyone is welcome to do what they want, but the negativity I keep seeing is depressing.
I want this and I don't really care if you think I'm a stupid fanboy or part of the problem or whatever other insults you want to hurl my way. You can kiss my fat rear end if you're gonna go there.
If a game is announced at the start for all planned platforms, that would finally disprove the myth that gamers don't like playing 3rd parties on Nintendo platforms.
Fact is that that 3rd party games almost always come out on rival platforms months or years prior, with no confirmation of a Switch version even being an option.
And because many MANY gamers play on more than one platform, and if there's a game we want and we know it's coming out on one platform, even if that's our second choice platform, were gonna get it there.
Many people would wait for their 1st choice, even if it did mean waiting. But far fewer are willing to wait on the off chance that maybe, someday they'll get it.
Having access to Steam out of the box and those specs make Steamdeck an interesting option. But there are 3 main issues with this option.
The biggest issue is the controls. The button layout looks like absolute trash. Bad, cheap, 3rd party controllers in 2003 standards. It actually makes 2000's Mat Catz crap look good by comparison.
But also: Valve/Steam have tried to make hardware in the past a few times, and always abandoned it only a couple years later.
And last - despite Steam's amazing library, it's lacking in exculsive first party titles. There's very little on Steam that's not also elsewhere. And honestly even though I do use Steam a lot, there's nothing on Steam that I love like I do most of Nintendo's offerings. There are virtually no games that only Steam has that are on the level of Nintendo's unique franchises.
@BloodNinja Because it's obnoxious when people follow things around and comment on every article to spit in the face of people who are excited about something. And that's what they're really doing. The decent thing to do, is to just move on with your life when something comes out that you don't want. It's rude and obnoxious to go around to article after article, video after video spouting the same complaints over and over, replying to anyone who likes the product to tell them why they're a stupid fanboy or whatever because they like the product.
The comment directly above this is a perfect example. It's a person directly insulting people who are interested in the product. Rude and obnoxious.
Competition is a good thing. I am not gonna say otherwise.
That said, I am not impressed. Sure, maybe it connects directly to Steam, and that does give it access to a huge library of titles. But it's not gonna have that native support of top tier first party content. Does Valve themselves even still make games anymore? I remember hearing about some VR titles but obviously that wont be for this.
Further, considering how Valve has released other hardware in the past only to abandon them shortly after... Well, I don't trust them to support the hardware. I will want to wait and see. I don't want to buy something like this only to have them stop supporting it in a year and a half.
Competition is good, but frankly, I still say Valve's got nothing on Nintendo. I use Steam on PC sure, but that's mostly for the easy access to mods and match making. That's pretty much it.
I don't honestly care much about Crytek at all. But at the same time - no Tencent please. They are not trustworthy.
And even if they weren't tied to the Chinese government, I don't like companies that act like them - buying up smaller companies at every possible chance. I dislike Disney for that same reasoning. So many companies are getting way too huge and they have too much power.
On one hand we have companies like Tencent, tied to powerful untrustworthy national governments. And on the other hand we have multi-national corporations like Disney, Apple, Google and Microsoft that are trying to monopolize entire industries and have grown so large that they have almost no checks and balances to their power.
The idea that the free market is going to balance things out is a pathetic joke. The free market is the reason companies like Apple and Disney are so large that no one can stand up to them.
But Tencent is an example of things taken way too far in the other direction. A company way to closely in line with national interests and objectives.
We need a mixed system. We need rules and regulations to limit companies and keep them from growing uncontrollably, but we also need protections to keep them from becoming unofficial arms of national governments.
I've loved Nintendo my whole life. I've owned at least one version of every machine they've released since the NES/Famicom except the Virtual Boy.
But communication and openness are NOT areas they do well. I would agree they're better now than ever before - but that's a very very low bar to exceed.
You've got to be kidding me. Why should Nintendo be expected to go through suppliers with a fine tooth and nail and deliberate choose suppliers in dangerous locations so long as they meet standards? That's ridiculous.
They're meeting the standards. Why shouldn't they avoid countries in conflict? I would if I ran a company. Relying on supplies from such locations would bring unnecessary risk, not just to their supply chain, but to their employees. What happens if them buying from one of those suppliers angers some political or militant faction on one of those regions? They could make themselves a target for retaliation.
No, it's much better to avoid those regions entirely.
And before you say "well that's just gonna keep those regions in civil war because they're stuck in poverty" or whatever - I say that it's not the responsibility of foreign companies to fix that sort of thing. That kind of thing should be accomplished by the involved parties on the ground, and a neutral 3rd party like the United Nations or another nation with as little involvement in the target region as possible.
@Beaucine I don't entirely agree. You make a good point, but from a technical standpoint, I think a game should be judged in the context of the era it was created.
So if you're going take a SNES game and judge it by 2007 standards, that's just silly.
But that's just for technical/mechanical aspects.
For things like gameplay, story and writing, I do agree that what's good is good and what's bad is bad, regardless of if it was made in 2021 or 1994.
@RushDawg I don't enjoy SMT as much. It's alright. But just alright. There's no possibility that I believe Atlus is unaware of the demand for Persona on Switch. People have been asking for it pretty much since launch. They're just rejecting that. As is their right.
As is my right not to buy other products from them when they refuse to sell those I do want.
Not gonna apologize for that stance.
I did buy TMS Fire Emblem though. It's more in line with my tastes than SMT.
@westman98 I've seen no proof that it's even 0.5% of people.
I know it's an issue that exists. I don't doubt that and I've seen the proof of it existing. But every bit of evidence I've seen and what I've read online does not suggest anything remotely as close to the frequency people suggest. NL and many users on this site would lead you to believe that it's a universal problem and every joycon is doomed within days of opening the box. They claim it's a chronic problem that's inevitable. Frankly, I don't buy it.
@cammers1995 While I would buy a nicer home if I were wealthy, I would be more interested in what I put in said home than its size or land value.
I would never spend 1.5 million on a sealed video game to display on a shelf, but I would absolutely put a lot of time and money into my game room. Assuming I won the lottery or had a dead rich great uncle, I would be decking the place out with the intent of spending the rest of my life there. So my game room would be excessively done to be at least partially future proofed.
@ShadowofTwilight22 No, I don't consider it a sequel because it's a totally different genre of game. And I dislike it because I don't care for musou/warriors games. They never hold my interest for more than a few hours.
And yet EA will say the inferior sales on Nintendo hardware is the reason they don't put more games on the platform. They and many of their fans push the lie that Nintendo players don't buy 3rs party games.
But they never factor in how the vast majority of 3rd party releases on Nintendo are either months or years after their release elsewhere, and/or missing features or even entire game modes.
RWBY is like so many things I enjoy, hated by many many people.
Like Pokemon and Star Wars, you just can't have a conversation about it. There will be 776256155 people waiting to tell you that everything you like about it is terrible, you're a terrible person for liking it, and you liking it is part of why it sucks.
@YoungLink64 Yeah, maybe my issue as a kid was that I wore a mask and was never comfortable being myself while other people had little to no issue being jerks. I don't know.
See, I don't like Kylo Ren or really almost anything of the new Disney canon at all outside of the Mando. I grew up with what's now called "Legends". All the books, games and comics from the 90s, 00s and so. The new canon is extremely different. But that's fine, people can like different things and different parts of different things.
But many, many SW fans are almost as bad as talking politics. But instead of real, serious issues that often warrant that passionate opinion and debate, SW is entirely fictional. I'm not hurting anyone if I say I don't like Kylo Ren. And you'd not be hurting anyone if you said you hate Jaina Solo. lol

I had a blast with the game, and I kinda want to hop back in and maybe do some remodelling.
But I already did almost everything there is to do in the game and have almost every item I could reasonably want.
I want a big "Welcome Amiibo" scale update. I'd happily even pay for a big DLC update.
But otherwise, I just have no reasons left to play regularly anymore.

Re: Cardaclysm: Shards Of The Four Is A "Card Combat RPG" Heading To Switch
Maybe it's actually good, but that title sounds like they're relying too much on their gimmick.
Like imagine if Super Mario Odyssey were called Mario Super Hat Man. Lol
Re: Atlus Has Seven "Project" Reveals Planned For Persona's 25th Anniversary
@RushDawg I don't enjoy SMT as much. It's alright. But just alright. There's no possibility that I believe Atlus is unaware of the demand for Persona on Switch. People have been asking for it pretty much since launch. They're just rejecting that. As is their right.
As is my right not to buy other products from them when they refuse to sell those I do want.
Not gonna apologize for that stance.
I did buy TMS Fire Emblem though. It's more in line with my tastes than SMT.
Re: Talking Point: Everyone Has A Bad Game They Love, So What's Yours?
Pokemon SWSH - at least according to folks on this site, it's one of the worst games ever made.
Re: Atlus Has Seven "Project" Reveals Planned For Persona's 25th Anniversary
I'm done with Atlus if they don't give us a mainline Persona JRPG on Switch. Not a spinoff. No musou stuff no matter how "canon" the story may be.
If they don't give Switch something this time, I'm just done with them.
Re: Tag Heuer Reveals Limited-Edition $2,150 Super Mario Watch
If I spent this much on a watch, I'd never be comfortable wearing it...
I spent about the same amount on my gaming PC.
Re: Nintendo Won't Say Whether Switch OLED Joy-Con Fixes Drift, So Don't Count On It
@westman98 I've seen no proof that it's even 0.5% of people.
Re: Nintendo Won't Say Whether Switch OLED Joy-Con Fixes Drift, So Don't Count On It
4 sets of joycon, no drift. None of my friends report any either. Day 1 set included.
But the internet would have you believe this is a chronic problem affecting everyone within weeks of purchasing.
Re: A Sealed Copy Of Super Mario 64 Just Sold For A Record-Breaking $1.56 Million
Re: Review: Persona 5 Strikers - Much More Than Your Average Musou Spin-Off
@ShadowofTwilight22 No, I don't consider it a sequel because it's a totally different genre of game. And I dislike it because I don't care for musou/warriors games. They never hold my interest for more than a few hours.
Re: EA Is Bringing Another Legacy Edition Of FIFA To Nintendo Switch
And yet EA will say the inferior sales on Nintendo hardware is the reason they don't put more games on the platform. They and many of their fans push the lie that Nintendo players don't buy 3rs party games.
But they never factor in how the vast majority of 3rd party releases on Nintendo are either months or years after their release elsewhere, and/or missing features or even entire game modes.
Re: WayForward Brings RWBY: Arrowfell To Nintendo Switch In 2022
RWBY is like so many things I enjoy, hated by many many people.
Like Pokemon and Star Wars, you just can't have a conversation about it. There will be 776256155 people waiting to tell you that everything you like about it is terrible, you're a terrible person for liking it, and you liking it is part of why it sucks.
Re: Sakurai Reminds Us There's Only One DLC Fighter Left For Smash Ultimate (Again)
And you'd not be hurting anyone if you said you hate Jaina Solo. lol
