Nintendo's presence at E3 2016 may have been somewhat reduced with the company only showing off a handful of games, but the buzz around one of those titles has eclipsed everything else.
So much so in fact that Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has publicly voiced his feelings about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, stating that he can't wait to get his hands on the game again:
I just played Zelda! The new Zelda game. You know, open world, and hunting. And I had a bizarre feel, this feels like Horizon. This is a epic, huge game. I can not wait to play Zelda again when it comes out.
This isn't the first time Yoshida has said kind words about Nintendo. He's already he admitted he owns a Wii U, and that he wants to see Nintendo's console succeed.
Thanks to Ryan Millar for the tip!

It's not 2106...
Or is it...
dun dun dunnnnnnn
Well I hope he gets to play it.
Well that's nice of him to say but I can't imagine a man in his position having enough spare time to play it!!
Even I'm worried that I won't be able to see everything the game has to offer!
@Great_Gonzalez
"Well that's nice of him to say but I can't imagine a man in his position having enough spare time to play it!!"
He's a big gamer and took the time to get all the trophies on the Demon/Dark Soul Saga. And Bloodborne. Soooo I think he could play this Zelda from beginning to the end
He's either plugging Horizon or using a "whatever, Nintendo's not a threat anymore in this generation anyway, so let's say something nice about The Legend Of Zelda" kind of approach.
Fair enough lol maybe he should work a bit harder then! Lol
@lilith He's not banned on Miiverse, at least not anymore. His posts are still up.
At the end of the day, people who lead game companies are still people, and they can get excited for games from other companies just like the rest of us.
ofcourse he is exited about zelda,how can you not.im not the biggest zelda fan but damn that game looks amazing
Lol @ analyzing his meaning behind the words. I just see it as a normal person being excited for something. Stay positive peeps
It's nice that Zelda has such an impact on people like this: important people from the competition.
@Great_Gonzalez he does have two wiiu's. One at the office and one he shares with his kid at home.
Guy is a gamer, and appreciates games nomatter what hardware they're running on.
And he's not wrong- Zelda and Horizon do have a somewhat similar appearance- probably cause they're both colorful and open world.
I can't wait to play Horizon and Zelda.
What I love about the heads of these companies, they all like each other! Seriously it's awesome to see the head of PlayStation himself be hyped for a Nintendo game. I just wish fans were the same. I understand if people can't afford to buy all three consoles, but there's no need to defend the one you have with all your strength
@lilith Exactly. He's essentially saying "hey, we have a similar game called Horizon so be sure to check it out!"
@Smasher309 Touché! Nice avatar pic tho
So some are you thinking he's doing this to promote Horizon, by complimenting a game on a rival console.
I really have to laugh. Fanboys.
Uh oh @get2sammyb Shogun and Tasuki are going to have to ban Yoshida from PS.
You should cover this news BTW just to show you guys can lighten up. And if you don't want to loosen your tolatarian grip on authority, well he does mention Horizon, so there's your in.
I see double intentions in his comment, not just an innocent compliment.
As long as the NX is on the the same level or more powerful as the PS4/XBOX 1, then it shouldn't struggle to get ports from 3rd parties as i can't see them making exclusive game for the NEO/SCORPIO and it ignore the 70+ miillion install base from both vanilla consoles.
@N4LIFE That was said about Wii U and it only got a few PS3 and Xbox 360 ports during launch window.
It only got old ports, it was never future proof and by the time PS4/XBOX 1 came it, it left Wii U in the dust.
@Great_Gonzalez This man loves Zelda and buys Nintendo consoles mainly because of this series, though he's stated he also has a love for other Nintendo games. He also has 2 Wii U consoles, so yeah he's definitely gonna make time to play this game.
@N4LIFE I'm not sure how can it be so different this time, if NX is supposedly a weak system according to rumours and Neo and Scorpio are around the corner.
Fun fact:the original, you start in a field then talk to the old man in the cave. In this one, you start in a cave and then talk to the old man in the field
@VanillaLake NEO and Scorpio aren't meant to take over the install base of Microsoft and Sony, and both companies have already officially stated that all games are going to run on the normal versions of their consoles as well because they obviously can't (and won't) stab all current users in the back by saying the newer games won't run on their standard Xbox One or PS4...
So, Nintendo basically only needs to make sure that they are able to keep up with these standard systems or be slightly more powerful, and from all accounts the system will be using a similar architecture, so it WILL be in that same range.
And do not forget that with Wii U vs Xbox One/PS4 it was PowerPC architecture vs x86 architecture, making the Wii U more time consuming to develop for, which was also a major part of its downfall, in combination with its minimal market share.
And all rumors saying the system is weak have already mostly been discounted and quite a few of them came from blogger Emily Rogers. She only based things upon what her sources told her, but she actually couldn't even verify anything because she has no technical knowledge whatsoever.
And since this E3 she has already been found wrong on two of her earlier leaks: there was supposed to be a choice in Zelda to play as a male or a female Link, and it was supposed to have full voice acting.
Both have now officially been proven wrong: only the narrator and the spirit are voiced, and from what we've seen so far only in cut scenes. And Aonuma himself has said that there will be no female Link to choose, so that is also a load of BS.
I also expect most of Emily Rogers' other predictions to fall flat on their face, except for those concerning the Wii U remakes on NX, because these have already been more or less confirmed.
@lilith I belive they do.
One thing I heard was them getting payback for being talked down to a lot during the last console generation. What I would like to point out is, maybe they were effectively bullied last gen but that doesn't mean they can do it this time. Otherwise it just repeats.
And honestly, I didn't have an online presence until this gen had begun so when I say I like the Wii U, I get shot down because "Nintendo fans did it to them last gen". Now...maybe they did and maybe they didn't. I know I didn't. What they are effectively doing is assuming everyone was part of it and attacking them for just saying they like something, without considering that they may not have been around last gen, and therefore their comments and high and mighty approach just makes victims of people they assume did the same to them when the tables were turned.
Rant over XD fans are fans it's why I don't pick sides. It's also why I failed university @rjejr
@ThanosReXXX I think Emily Rogers' credibility has dropped quite significantly after the fact that Mother 3 was not announced/released this week.
@AlexSora89 Or, he is actually genuinely nice, as he has been so many times before, also without plugging any game.
The interview in which he states owning two Wii U's doesn't mention anything Sony or marketing related at all: it's just him talking about having to buy two Wii U's because his kids have taken over the first one he bought, so he had to get another one to be able to use that himself.
Current CEO's of both companies aren't the same a* holes that used to run those companies. Phil Spencer is another genuinely nice person too.
@Grumblevolcano Ah yes, and that one too, forgot about that. So that makes it three mistakes so far. In baseball she'd already be out...
@Grumblevolcano "was not announced/released this week."
If we start making that list it's going to get really long, we don't need ER's help for that. I wasn't expecting much, but I was 100% sure Wii U would have another game the last 6 months of the year besides PM. 3DS did OK w/ that Oasis game, and MHG, and oh yeah Pokemon. Oops forgot DQ7. Was MH:Stories even at E3? Hasn't 3DS been out 5 years now, shouldn't that be the forgotten console, after only 3 1/ 2 years shouldn't WiiU still be getting games? NSMBU: The Toad Levels maybe? Some obscure Japanese game? It's a long way from October 7th to March. Not so much as a Skylanders amiibo. Wii U may not be dead, but it's looking very Dreamcast like to me w/ 1 game over a 9 month period. At least give us another HD remaster, Luigi's Mansion would be acceptable. And of course the MK8 DLC. Trolls, they're all trolls.
End of the day, it's the games that matter. No matter what system they on. It's a shame more people don't see this. If they did, they would own a wii u to go with their ps4 to enjoy what both have to offer. My wii u has s bigger collection of great exclusives then my ps4 does. But my ps4 has been getting more use since I got dark souls 3. Star fox and guard have logged plenty of hours too.
@rjejr The Emily Rogers leak was literally "Mother 3 will be an E3 surprise" so that's why I mentioned it.
The console wars are over, people.
That's nice of him to say that! This is a clear example of why fanboy wars are stupid!
@rjejr I think I annoyed some higher power.
Got used as a scapegoat for one module, so failed that, since they were giving feedback on my part weeks late. Got stuff with a hard working autistic guy and a guy who, for the second year running, as I found out, FAKED DOING WORK!! That went on until 4 weeks before the deadline, put me in a pickle having to carry myself and the autistic guy through the module, made the level plans, coded the stage, built it up etc. and exported it, despite the lecturers wanting it delivered via deprecated methods (Smooth) and the disabled guy got 30, and I got....wait for it....
10.
40 is needed to pass. 30-39 is a fail but you can redo. 10 is...why did you show up? And after all that work too. As it turns out the lecturer thinks a game is made of a story that sticks to the Hero's Journey and how good your models are. Never mind this was for LEVEL DESIGN. Yes I'm peed off.
/rant over/
On the plus side I will always defend ya bro. Gotta go work on my failure of a YouTube channel, not that I have much credence as a gamer or game designer right?
@lilith I like that explanation, nice and simple, and likely true. Me, I'm one of those conspiracy theory nutjobs who thinks Pushsquare won't let us mention Ntineod games - MS games seem to be OK - b/c Sony, or their sponsors, are financially supporting the site and they deduct a penny every time Zelda gets mentioned.
@Grumblevolcano Surprise! It wasn't there. Knowing the way Ninteod operates, it probably was planned to be there but after the leak they dropped it. (Don't mind me, still annoyed about the Zelda Gamepad map removal.)
@nono6400 He got all the achievements in the Soulsborne games..sir you can do anything.
@lilith fair enough, but he is an avid gamer. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he has complimented Nintendo in the past.
@rjejr I saw that (about the no map on Gamepad), really feels like removed content so Wii U and NX versions are equal in everything but graphics. On the other hand, it seems from all the NX hints this week that it won't be worth owning until about a year after launch if you own a Wii U.
@lilith I don't wear a tin-foil hat b/c I embrace the alien incursions. (Ever play Psychonauts? Really good game, PS4 is getting/got a remaster. Very fun 3D platformer w/ a ridiculous story.)
@rjejr Hehe. I know for a fact they probably wont care. FIrst semester went to hell from depression and the treatment for that, 2nd semester just.....argh. -.-
@Great_Gonzalez Shuhei had enough time & skill to get Platinum trophy on BloodBorne. You can follow him, check his PSN profile, etc. He plays lots of games, and gets hooked into one every now and then.
If only gamers could be so kind to games and me gamers who play in different hardware than the one they fanboy over.
@Grumblevolcano "feels like removed content"
Makes me happy to read that, feel less like a conspiracy nutjob now. I don't like always thinking the worst, but this time it seems real.
"NX hints this week"
From all the NX hints this week NX won't launch until after NX 2. Zelda:BotW may release on that.
10 days to vacation, then I'll be incognito for a week. I need it. NL may need it more.
@rjejr Well 3 very key NX hints so far from this week are:
. Just Dance 2017 is the only Ubisoft multiplat game releasing on NX
. Reggie says specs don't matter
. New Mario game may be shown off at E3 2017 so probably not a 2017 title
Sounds a lot like Nintendo targeting the smartphone/tablet crowd that abandoned them after the Wii so expect tons of Wii U ports to try and satisfy the core gamer meanwhile key brand new casual type games (think about what Wii Sports did for the Wii) being used to try and bring in the masses like the Wii era.
@lilith haha, everyone knows you should never feed a fanboy after midnight
@Grumblevolcano "Reggie says specs don't matter"
First rule of being a Ntinedo fan - Reggie lies.
OK, maybe in this case he isn't, but usually he does. And Anouma now too.
JD'17 was kind of a given. Is that STILL the only NX game mention at E3? I have'n't seen it otherwise, but I've spent so much time replying to comments I haven't really had time to look.
Wii U failed at $349, NX will be a $199 3DS hooked up to the TV. So I'm actually expecting vry few Wii U ports, and a ton of 3DS ports. Actually there are only a few Wii U games to even port. Ntinedo has already abandoned the core gamer - see AC:aF, MP Soccer, HHD. We'll be lucky in Monolith is ever allowed to make another good JRPG and aren't put to work on another board game instead.
BTW, my smart eyed son asked if you are named after a level in MKWii.
@Smasher309 haha.. made me laugh
@ThanosReXXX I know that Emily Rogers is just a fangirl that speaks BS... the rumours I heard came from developers. About the architecture similarity, as far as I know nobody knows if NX is going to be PowerPC once again for those inevitables Wii U ports to be easier made. And I know well what Neo and Scorpio are...
@ThanosReXXX I respect your opinion though. I like discussing when people are respectful. By the way, if it's true that NX is going to be cheap and Ubisoft says it would appeal to Wii userbase it makes me think the console is not going to impress any of us here. And I'm not sure that it would get third party support even being similar to Xbox One and PS4.
@PtM yeah hehe but Alex did say to mention anything he'd missed so.... But your right, it was a mute point lol
@rjejr Yeah, the only games we know for certain coming to NX are Zelda Breath of the Wild and Just Dance 2017. You could argue Dragon Quest 11 but Square quickly dismissed the confirmation to a consideration stance. Which means either they got an angry phone call from Nintendo or they're not confident in the console.
As for my username, yes it's due to the MKWii course Grumble Volcano.
Why do people act like this is a big deal? People work for a company, they aren't actually the company. The man is rich and has access to most of the gaming industry so I'm sure he plays pretty much everything. I would love to see his game room though.
@Grumblevolcano Well my son will be happy to hear that he was right. Nice name by the way.
So I guess this means I should stop grumbling about Wii U only getting Paper Mario b/c it's getting JD'17 as well. Oh well, won't take me long to find something else to grumble about. Maybe I should change my name and avatar to Eeyore?
@ThanosReXXX
Actually, if it was Phil doing that, I would have believed that instantly due to the numerous instances of him being very respectful to his console's rivals. I don't know what's Yoshida's track record, though. Maybe I've been to harsh on him.
Well, he is a gamer too, after all
@PtM
Er, what?
@rjejr
We're all Eeyores lately. NX needs to kick some major backside to revert all Nintendo fans into Tiggers.
@VanillaLake Well, they didn't exactly say it will appeal to the Wii audience. That is what people are now making from it.
And I would dare to wager that there's no WAY that the architecture is going to be PowerPC. Power PC/RISC/CISC or whatever other iteration is completely dead for consoles and it doesn't constitute a new environment that will allow systems to act "as brothers".
No, logic dictates it is going to be either ARM, x86 or worst case scenario, Tegra based, but it is definitely not going to be PowerPC.
If, as Kimishima stated, they have made a full departure from the Wii/Wii U family of consoles, then that surely is one of the primary requirements.
And x86 can easily run Wii/Wii U games: just look at Dolphin and Cemu on PC. Optimize those engines, and the sky is the limit.
There really is no need to worry yet. All these people on here fretting over absolutely nothing... (shakes head)
@AlexSora89 https://i.ytimg.com/vi/TUAuMlnk0C4/maxresdefault.jpg
@AlexSora89 Speak for thyself, young man...
After now being able to laugh away three predictions of Nintendo rumor guru ms. Emily Rogers, I'm feeling better by the day.
NX and Nintendo are going to be just fine...
(and even if they're not, the world and we will still survive)
@AlexSora89 I'm up for that.
@JaxonH same, why limit yourself?
@lilith Zelda is usually number one in many dev studios "resources" for making open world adventure games, its likely that Tomb raider used Zelda as a launch pad.
I bet there is great illustration books centered on the Legend of Zelda out there.
@lilith
Both open world and very colorful. Particularly, lots of green grass. See trailers of both using now and arrows. Just kinda gives off the same vibes even if totally different.
Only 2 games I saw at E3 that really stood out to me with all that green grass.
@VanillaLake
On the one hand, NX being Iwata's last project and all, I wouldn't be surprised if it was one more attempt at the casuals. God bless Iwata and all, but dang him and his blue ocean.
On the other hand, even a blind monkey can see that sort of strategy is like betting on scratch offs, and Nintendo can't afford to remain so irrelevant to core gamers. Even the Wii U pulled back into more of a core focus. Surely, SURELY the NX wouldnt abandon that course change with an about-face, charging head first right back into the danger zone.
Idk what to think. Both are just as possible. But with Iwata's passing (RIP) I can't imagine Kimishima would be on board with somethig so reckless. We see how he put the kabash on that "wearable technology" project.
@DoctorOverbuild
I actually hate when Sony and MS do this. It's tacky as hell when Phil Spencer goes on social media to congratulate Sony or Nintendo on a game reviewing well, it's even more tacky when Shu Yoshida sits there actively plugging Nintendo's consoles. At least Spencer doesn't tell us all how great PS4 and Wii U are, and I doubt he spends whatever little free time he has to game using a competitor's system. If Yoshida loves Nintendo so much he should work there, otherwise he should do his job which is to build PS4's library to get people to buy the console from the company that provides his and his family's meal ticket. The butt kissing of the competition disgusts me but sadly it's a product of the pathetic politically correct society we live in in 2016. I miss the days of Genesis and SNES when companies hated eachother and slung mud. I have my doubts about Nintendo's leadership sometimes these days but one thing I give Fils-Aime is he never gives the competition more than a backhanded compliment. It's one thing for me or you or anybody not working at the big 3 to like 2 or all 3 brands. We don't have to sell the consoles. Spencer and Yoshida sucking up to eachother and Nintendo does nothing except make their brands look weak. They might as well say 'yeah we have some cool stuff but did you see the other guys? Buy their stuff instead.' It annoys me. It's like a pitcher purposely grooving fastballs for his friends on the other team to hit homeruns.
@lilith I don't really take a "high road" for anything. I just don't see the point in conspiracy theories and needless negativity. Waste of energy. I'm pretty sure my views are rather moderate for the most part. If a hobby makes me needlessly negative it is time to get a new hobby as it is obvious I no longer derive joy from it. Positive Ki and all that. /sotto voce
@lilith @Ryu_Niiyama you prob already knew this but it takes more energy to frown, than it does to smile. So being negative, at least from a facial perspective, literally is... A waste of energy
@SaKo
"He's not banned on Miiverse, at least not anymore. His posts are still up."
So his NNID is publicly known? Nice! What is it?
I know Dan Adelman's NNID, but that's the only game celebrity's NNID I know.
(Not counting Nintendo third party developers with verified NNIDs.)
@PtM
Seems to be a chill dude.
@Haru17

@ThanosReXXX
Emily who? What?
@lilith
Friggin' bless you!
@rjejr
Hope springs eternal.
@lilith I think that's a good idea, instead of being outwardly negative all the time. I actually prefer criticism rather than praise myself, but it has to be constructive and actually help me. Trouble is, a lot of people who point fingers, won't lift a finger in order to help, me being one of them sometimes...
@lilith I like your name btw, Darkstalkers perhaps? Great artwork
@lilith ah yes I remember looking at something about that ages ago, was interesting. I know a little Hebrew now, didn't back then, so re-reading the Genesis account in Hebrew is fascinating, as is the language itself.
I still like some FPS campaigns, and Horizon looks like that, in 3rd person, in a long format.
I definitely see the comparison to this Zelda and the Xenoblade series too.
Guerrilla was clearly inspired by Zelda, but without a Wii U, I'm only looking forward to Horizon between the 2.
Not that Zelda doesn't look fun, just that rebuying a system for 1 game makes no sense to me.
After their recent E3 sale, my PS4 collection is up to 58 games, 17 on the backlog.
By this time next year, I can't imagine that number being much lower.
As an aside, it makes me happy that Zelda, Horizon, Evangelion, Darkstalkers (Night Warriors), and Shuhei Yoshida can all be part of the same discussion. It gives me hope that people still care about important, neglected, beautiful things. It's disheartening to always talk about money and the politics of the gaming industry, as much as I feel it is my duty as a writer to speak to the stark reality presented.
@ThanosReXXX Remember that Nintendo usually doesn't make any sense.
@JaxonH "God bless Iwata and all, but dang him and his blue ocean."
Agree about that. Rest in peace, specially because of his cruel illness. Hopefully they find a cure soon.
When he was alive I had a drawing I made of him on Miiverse saying "Please understand" and it is very funny because I drew one eye more open than the other like his real eyes, but after he passed away I did remove it from my Favourite Post. However, I think exactly the same about him and I didn't like him as Nintendo's president. I disagreed about almost everything he did, because as a gamer I only worry about the quality of the games and he cared more about selling cheap stuff as quickly as possible even if it meant having a bad reputation. Funny that he said he was a gamer all the time but didn't really cared about quality lately.
@VanillaLake
I actually liked Iwata. It was difficult not to. And his Wii strategy did work. But he couldn't hold on to it. All that success, and no one knew how to keep it.
You keep it by showcasing quality games and enforcing a standard of quality for 3rd party games. They were never going to keep all 100 million people. But they could have kept an additional 20 million, which tacked on to the 15 million Wii U owners would have made Wii U more like SNES than Dreamcast. But the gems were drowned out by the shovelware, and most people never got to experience the Nintendo magic before they tired from the garbage.
Idk, I just think his focus on the blue ocean was fine to do once, but if you can't keep even one iota of the success you drew in, what's the point. If you can't convert a percentage to long term gamers who learn to recognize quality then what's the point. You can't just keep gambling away each generation until you hit the jackpot again, only to lose that success in a few more years.
Blue ocean is fine when it's secondary. But first order of business should be long-term sustainability and growing the core fanbase. I know that sounds like a bunch of corporate speak but it's true. With Wii U they were still chasing that crowd for the first several years.
Idk. I just think it's a waste. But I ask myself, what would a core-focused Nintendo look like? I think the Wii U was a pretty good effort if not for the first few years of Wii era franchises, and had they realized all their IP expected by fans. The gamepad became a problem because they weren't consistent. At first it's "dual gameplay" but then game after game didn't use it. Now the new Zelda, one of the ONLY games where it works perfectly with the inventory, and they do an about face and don't include the gamepad at all. Like come on. You force it for Star Fox then take it away from Zelda?
Ok now I'm just rambling complaining. Enough of that. Ya. Hopefully Nintendo will only chase that ocean after they've done what they need to do to stabilize and at least grow their console base to N64 levels again.
@lilith yeah a little, I can read it better than I can speak it, it's quite an intricate language, yet when spoken, it flows like a river. Each of the letters is a picture (like the Egyptions' hieroglyphs) so a word is like a comic strip. So even if you don't know what the word is, you can sorta work it out by the letters. Kinda cool I must say.
Also, including the gematria as well (numerical assignments of letters) it is even a deeper level of understanding and fun, cuz I like math
@VanillaLake "Remember that Nintendo usually doesn't make any sense."
To us, maybe, but that is mainly because for us Westerners it is near impossible to think with a traditional Asian mindset. Something that Nintendo is still doing and to them it is the most normal thing in the world.
Pepole always play the Sony card when I try to explain this in more detail, having worked a lot with Asians myself, when I was still in the IT business, but people forget that Sony is all but completely Westernized, so you can't compare the two.
And that is why I'm almost certain that Nintendo seems to be making all these weird and quirky moves, simply because we can't relate to their way of thinking and operating.
Fun fact is that once the NX hits it out of the park, you will hear no one complain anymore, and all strange decisions will be forgiven and forgotten. But beware the instance that the NX will fail: complaints and accusations will rain down upon them like there's no tomorrow.
Such is the fickle nature of man, especially when he puts to much emphasis on something that was only ever meant to be a hobby and not something to be so stressed about that it might even cause you actual physical damage...
@ThanosReXXX Actually, I like many things from the Japanese culture but Nintendo's doing just puzzles me because they make little sense sometimes, no matter what your culture is. Also, in the past they were not like this, so culture is not the reason.
@JaxonH Hopefully, but in order to achieve that they have to go back to high quality standards and not the mediocre game library of lately. Do you know if you can use the pro controller on The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild?
@VanillaLake
Ya apparently you can use Pro controller for the whole game. Seems they removed the gamepad map (unless it's paused? There's some confusion over that atm) and I'm almost certain that gyro aiming in slo mo has been cut out.
@JaxonH For me it's fine because I use the pro controller whenever is possible, but this is quite disappointing. The Wii U Zelda game doesn't make a great use of the GamePad? Now people will say it's not necessary on Zelda but it is on Star Fox Zero...
@VanillaLake I'd rather exchange "culture IS not" with "culture doesn't have to be", but besides that it really IS, and it has been shown many, MANY times before where the management of Nintendo did something that seemed to make no sense, and even in lower departments changes made initially seemed strange, but in the end it might all add up.
Thing is, we never get to see the whole picture, so right now we can't say that they are making "the same" mistakes, or still not "having learned anything".
To me that more likely speaks volumes on the inability of people to look further than their own little bubble and not having any understanding or sympathy whatsoever for what doesn't agree with their tastes or opinions.
Only when NX is out of the gates, will we know, and even then we will still not have the complete picture. But at least we will be able to assess if Nintendo made the right choices on the path to the NX release or not.
Luckily, it's not that far off now anymore, so we'll know soon enough...
@ThanosReXXX "To me that more likely speaks volumes on the inability of people to look further than their own little bubble and not having any understanding or sympathy whatsoever with what doesn't agree with their tastes or opinions."
Who are you talking about here?
@VanillaLake Not about you, so no offense meant if it was taken that way. I was talking about the internet at large, with it's poisonous and prejudiced behavior. That is both my personal assessment and that of many other people I know.
Up til now, in all my years online, I have only found a couple of handful of people that are nice, respectful and able to explain themselves in an elaborate and clear manner instead of resorting to ranting, insulting, whining/complaining and only being negative or thinking from a glass half empty frame of mind.
Those are the persons living in the aforementioned bubbles, rejecting anything and any person that doesn't agree with their opinion or idea of how something or a person should be, no matter how wrong they factually are.
In relation to the topic, I see so many people spouting ridiculous theories (or, to them: facts) about what Nintendo is doing or must "certainly" mean, and that annoys me to no end. No one knows either way, and like I said in my previous comment we NEVER get to see the entire picture, even when the new system is finally released, so we can't judge based upon so little knowledge, and we can't just add to what we DO know with our own assumptions, which is exactly what a lot of people are doing (once again: not you) and that is just plain stupid.
@VanillaLake
It is disappointing, actually. Star Fox was a game where it wasn't much of a natural fit and benefit. But Zelda is like the ONE game where the gamepad implementation feels natural and is a great benefit. We see from Xenoblade X how valuable the second screen can be when used in a fitting manner.
Idk if the Star Fox reaction scared them and they changed Zelda out of fear of Internet backlash and bad press, or if they want it on par with NX for identical porting (guess that throws the screen on NX controller theory out the window, unless it's because they got scared from the StarFox backlash).
Ultimately, nothing wrong with Pro Controller. Same experience you get on every other console known to man. But gosh dang, what a waste. Could have at least made it optional.
@ThanosReXXX I know, but some speculation and critical opinions are interesting, as long as people are respectful with each other. For me, it's boring reading users that agree with Nintendo whatever they do because they look like bots and they lose any credibility when they praise today what they disapproved yesterday, just because Nintendo changed their mind and so did they.
@JaxonH I don't know if you like that kind of games but for me, Super Mario Maker aside, Maiden of Black Water makes the best use of the GamePad this far.
@VanillaLake Oh, I agree, and I also didn't mean that we have to agree with everything that Nintendo does (or doesn't) but I really do think that there are too many people that are using baseless assumptions and creating a very negative and far from intelligent vibe in the comments section.
Theorizing in a thoughtful manner is fun, pulling things out of one's backside and running with it is not...
@ThanosReXXX
That's what gets me. There's alot of things I could criticize and many things I don't agree with but, it's just video games. It always annoys me when certain members just bombard every article with "Nintendo sucks, Zelda is lame, doesn't look good- if you squint through a microscope you can see the polygons are low quality! Finding the bad in everything. Using bullet point arguments to marginalize everything, even if it doesn't affect the person at all. It's a real downer.
There's 2 extremes. One is fanboys who defend everything and excuse everything. Then there are fanatics who attack everything and complain and bout everything. Both are fanboys imo- each one side of the same coin. One side accuses anyone who complains even once of fanboyism, while the other side accuses anyone who doesn't complain all the time of fanboyism, whether it really is or not. Such extremes all the time.
I come here to talk about the fun I'm having playing Nintendo games. I wanna talk about how much fun Robobot is! I was never big on Kirby but this has reached classic status. It's the best Kirby game by leaps and bounds. And Rhythm Heaven MegaMix, what a great little game! No one wants to talk about having fun with games anymore though it seems. Except in the forums, the last safe haven for actual gamers who are actually playing games and actually enjoy talking about them.
@VanillaLake
I'm not really into horror games. I don't mind Resident Evil, but that stuff about demonic possession and just pure evil... not so much. I did buy the game but I didn't realize how extreme it was when I did so. But from what I saw it used the gamepad very well. Some games are just a good fit. That was definitely one of them.
I hope NX controller keeps a screen for maps and little stuff, but after this whole Zelda flip flop I have my doubts.
@JaxonH Agreed and you are an example of calm person. However, people that criticise Nintendo don't insult other users while, normally, overly enthusiastic Nintendo fanatics are the ones getting mad and insulting people that don't agree with them, because they are narrow-minded.
@VanillaLake
This website isn't nearly as bad for the fanboys who defend everything. This other site I go to, it's "Devils a third is a REAL gem, I know a great game when I see one. Not like that generic garbage on Sony's system, which by the way is a racist, greedy corporation and PS4 has zero games"
Ya lol. You can't make this stuff up.
@JaxonH Haha well I wonder why so many child minds in adult bodies?
@lilith You shouldn't care the colour of in-game characters much. If there were no black people in video games but only white people killing or being killed, black people would complain anyway so who knows what to do... Also, Japanese are obsessed with Caucasian beauty so they portray us as frequently as they can and even try to look like us.
@lilith I'll give you an example. It was fine to shoot white people in Resident Evil 4 but when Resident Evil 5 was out people said it was racist because you were shooting black people, even though the story takes place in Africa. Madness.
However, you have a point, but sadly the same could be said about gay men. They are portrayed in ridiculous, campy and promiscuous stereotypes.
@lilith Exactly. If you are bored, you can read this (it's not long):

@JaxonH
Hate to say it because I like the PlayStation brand, and over the years have bought other products from Sony that I like. But, those people who call the company greedy or racist aren't totally off base. None of the 'big 3' are run by saints.
@Gamer83
I don't think anyone is without guilt, but come on, you know what I'm saying right? There are some who just mindlessly defend and prop up anything on their console, and blindly hate everything else.
If a person is gonna hate one company to such an extent without clear, concise reasoning (and not just one or two questionable decisions which may or may not have had malicious intent) then they may as well hate their own favored platform as well. Cause like you say, none are run by saints
@JaxonH
I get what you're saying. When we talk about questionable ethics though, Sony is one of those companies that has to be put out there. And those leaked e-mails a couple years back from higherups did not help the company image.
