@Yosher Yeah I know, would love the Nintendo logo to appear on the GB app when launching a game, just doesn’t feel right without it! Just hoping for this one as it’s maybe the most iconic of them all to me.

@lyle_catcliffe Good question, I’d hope it’s an option - it’s as iconic as any game on the platform.

@AhabSpampurse Ha! Turok forced me to get a Memory Pak too! The scars from the SNES and early N64 days are still fresh, probably why MKW doesn’t seem too bad if I get the same out of it I did with MK8.

Saying that, Toys R Us did Goldeneye for £34.99 on launch day and as me and a particular friend still play it, only workout to be about £1.50 a year so far!

@SBandy1 I paid £60 for a second hand copy from Electronics Boutique a couple of months after release and thought it was a good deal!

As it currently stands NSO is great value for money, especially the all above and the Nintendo Music app (which I do sadly use a lot!).

It’s the Super Nintendo Switch to me anyway!

@WheresWaveRace Shouldn't say this out loud, but I'd also lay out a few quid to upgrade Alien and (especially) GRID.

The only titles I have concerns about (and that is too strong a word!) are Alien Isolation and GRID, but good to see an update on this.

@darkswabber Thats fair, but Nintendo have done hardware updates like this before and haven’t lost their identity because they still use that hardware to craft unique experiences through software. And sometimes cardboard! 😂

From Sony, whose major innovations in this space are what? Without getting too 90’s console wars, as far as I can tell the PS control pads are still derivative of the SNES.

Happy to learn that Super Thunder Blade is an awful as I remember! SOR1 is an all timer though so very happy to see it finally added.

@Gryffin Yes, went from carts to optical discs. SNES games were about the same price as N64 ones.

@gcunit Agreed, that deal was what pushed me into buying a Wii U.

@Uncle_Franklin I’m not saying it’s a good thing but worth pointing out Street Fighter 2 was about £70 on the SNES! Price was just one factor in the underperformance of the N64, especially when the average RRP of a N64 cart being £49.99 and a PS1 game was £34.99. That’s a huge difference. £60-£70 appears the norm for new releases across platforms so it’s not a shock but I am disappointed, it feels like Nintendo trying their arm when they didn’t have too…

Frustratingly my NSO member shipped lapsed for a couple of days last year when I was on holiday. 🙄

They were in marketing and coms right? Which is essentially a subjective reading of fixed data points - there are going to be different views which is why K&K were part of a wider team.

Having said that, I can’t say I don’t disagree with them. Obviously next week we’ll know more but at this point I’m not sure what MK9 can bring to the table. MK8 has spent the last 10 years feeling like the perfection of the formula, but I’m looking forward to finding out!

This is great! I never really got into it first time around and it stretched the capabilities of the N64 too far for me to tolerate - looking forward to playing on NSO. Diddy Kong next yeah?
