Etrian Odyssey Untold II hits Japanese stores on the 27th of this very month, and in order to build some hype in its homeland publisher Atlus has made the opening cinematic public.
It's the next instalment in a series which has been active since the days of the Nintendo DS and follows on from the critically-acclaimed Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. The intro is gorgeous and gameplay-wise, Untold II looks set to be more of the same — and that will be music to the ears of fans.
Previous titles in the franchise has received western releases, but we've still not heard if this new entry will also be making the jump. You know what to do: keep those fingers firmly crossed and pray to whichever deity you happen to believe in.

Love that game already. I hope it gets released in the US, better still if it gets an eShop release.
Played etrian III and untold, if this launch for our side i will gladly get.
Looks nice. I recently bought Etrian Odyssey IV during the sale and I liked what I played. I don't have my 3DS now so haven't finished it yet. I guess I might pick up Untold 1 and probably this game as well down the line.
Atlus makes good stuff, most of the time.
This will come to the US for sure. I love this series .Atlus could of made a new one , but I don't care I'll eat this up.
I'll probably get this one, but I'd still rather have EO V
Oh wow, I wonder if you can sleep in the woods in this title: an Etrian first!
@ohako You could camp on the labyrinth in EO 3.
I don't know about the game, but I'd buy the animé!
Atlus has been great about getting stuff to America before, so I hope that trend continues. Though this is Sega-Atlus now...
My eyes are satiated.
That trailer made me want the game.
I don't usually buy games just to own them but this would be one I do that with. I have barely touched Untold since I was a bit burnt out on EO at that time. I will get this when released and probably play the first just before that. I own and played all so I'm in no hurry to finish untold.
As far as characters go this looks a little weaker then the last one just by sight. Either way I'm more interested in the story since I've played the main game anyways.
@hngdmn This is what I get for playing 1 and 4 and U1
I can tell I'm going to like these characters a lot more then the other one; "Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl". (Damn that's a mouthful title)
Not that they were bad, but these look like they have a better connection with each other. Just hope the main character isn't another silent protagonist that speaks and grunts only in battle.
I tried playing story mode in the first Untold and just couldn't get into it. It's not that it was "bad," persay, but it betrayed the things I've come to associate with Etrian Odyssey: character creation and customization, minimal plot, an almost entirely player-determined level of pacing, brutal difficulty, and the thrill of exploration.
Don't get me wrong, the classic mode was a wonderful recreation of the original game.I loved that you could even opt for retro or remade music! I'm not terribly thrilled with the weird route they're taking the series, though, and I am mainly waiting for them to release Etrian Odyssey V.
I've got to admit, that cinematic was incredible! But the game still looks crap to me...
Well, I've to say, this cinematic is gorgeous. It was very interesting and good to see the bosses I've defeated in the original animated and fighting with these new characters. Also, this remake looks much more intriguing in terms of story than Millenium Girl was. Like @uel said, "My eyes are satiated".
How many Etrian Oddysseys are there again? I don't play any of them but it seems like there's a ridiculous amount.
I've been really enjoying Etrian Odyssey IV and Untold, so I hope they bring this to Europe. However it is Atlus, so it may take some years for the games to come over here.
@TeeJay There are 4 main games, plus the remake of the 1st game (and soon of the 2nd too) adding an extra mode.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't doubt that Untold II will make it to the US. I'm more interested in a remake of EO III (though I do plan on getting II). I would love it if a remake of III was like EO IV, so that the stratums (dungeons, etc...) were spread out on other islands. Though perhaps I hope for too much...
Haven't ever played 2, so I'll be getting it for sure.
cant wait for a n.american release, then atlus will soon do a remake of the third game.
Yup, getting this to support Atlus efforts and because of the trailer. I know what to expect, and I'm looking forward to the music.
I hope they don't add a Story Mode to Etrian Odyssey V. Yes, I know you can play without it, but knowing that it's there takes away some of the charm of the game. I know that might sound silly, and that's because it is. But still somewhat true in my opinion.
@TeeJay Only 5 Really.
Etrian Odyssey 1, 2, and 3 are on ds
and Etrian Odyssey 4, and Untold(Remake of the first one) on 3ds
And this makes 6 now, and i can't wait to try this one!
A US/EU release is a no-brainer since the other games did good if I'm not mistaken (not sure about EU though). I think we should see it in April or May. So I'll have that and Majora's Mask to look forward to and maybe a New 3DS.
@Gorlokk The trailer was showing the characters from story mode so yes there'll be a story mode. You still can play it in Classic mode like Untold 1. I was really turned off at first to have fixed characters for an Etrian game but after spending some time playing they kinda grew on me so I'm actually looking forward to see how characters will be in Untold 2.
WANT. Please release in Europe.
I'm still not sure if I liked EO4 better, or EOU... Anyway, both were amazing, so I'd gladly get an updated 'untold' version of any EO game, if they physically come to Europe.
I kinda hope USA sales did best on EOU to release EOUII here. So, if anyone is curious on how many units were sold in USA is
Year Yearly Change Total
2013 53,944 N/A 53,944
2014 19,765 -63.4% 73,709
Btw, let us still keep our finger cross for this remake of the series to be released here in america. -finger cross & smile-
