Re: Fortnite's Dev Really Wants A Crossover With Nintendo But Hasn't Had Any Luck

GooseLoose1

@Darknyht This is the sad reality of when something multiplayer becomes popular. You open the door for everyone. Toxicity is inevitable unfortunately.

Sad part about it's a poison that spreads. It can infect people and cause what should be a fun time into something negative to avoid. In Fortnite's case, it doesn't help that during it's peak it was seen as a serious job venture, thus increasing said toxicity.

Twitch and especially Youtube which are swamp central, gave more exposure to the negative sides associated with Fortnite.

I don't have kids, but I even if I did, I wouldn't allow them to play Fortnite either. Yes the game is meh, but the culture, and people who play it are worse. I wouldn't my kids exposed to that kind of behavior so early in their lives.

I avoid Fortnite like most MMO's as if they were the plague. More peaceful that way.

Re: Feature: The Best Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Trailers, Ranked By You

@TheImperfectInsider Again, Im not making a case for Banjo here. I keep saying that. Banjo getting the top spot doesn't change that this is a contest on what "you", the people think had the best reveal.

@LadyCharlie is making a case that SNK should be in the top 5 based purely on what impact the franchise had on Smash Bros. That has zero to do with the actual quality of the reveal itself.

This is vote on what the people think who had the best reveal. Banjo winning is simply people voting based on that. This is not, I repeat, not a vote of historical relevance. It's a vote on who had the best reveal in smash bros.

@LadyCharlie is arguing for something that does not apply here.

Re: Feature: The Best Smash Bros. Ultimate Character Trailers, Ranked By You

GooseLoose1

@LadyCharlie Im not making a case or comment for Banjo, Im simply saying SNK desevering a higher spot on the list because of it's historical relevance does not apply here.

This is a vote on who had the best reveal. Your post doesn't talk about the quality of Terry's reveal, just that it deserves more votes because of it's history.

If this were a vote on what impact these characters and their franchises as a whole did for gaming, you'd have a fair point if SNK was low on the list. This is why I used Pac-Man as an example.

Pac-Man's historical significance rates higher than everyone on the list, but his reveal trailer wasn't the best. This is what the votes are about.

Re: The First Review For Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Is In

GooseLoose1

@Maulbert Worthless to westerners maybe, but Japan rates things differently than us. By all accounts alot of westerners reviews are worthless to those who aren't western.

Even in the western world depending on where you are, reviews are worthless. People who live in European countries find American reviews worthless, and vice versa. Every country judges things differently.

Re: Random: More Kids Want In-Game Currency Over Physical Media This Holiday

GooseLoose1

@Nintoz Oh well. Consumers at every turn decided to vote with their wallets and welcome all these things that slowly crept into our lives and now are normalized.

It's only natural this is would be the end result. Companies tested the waters, dipped a couple toes in, and now are neck deep having a pool party.

Is it depressing? Yes, but people have accepted this as the future.

Re: The Game Awards 2023: Where And When To Watch The Game Awards

GooseLoose1

@Fiskern Dude, you gotta be kidding. Hogwarts was such a hot topic you had reviewers afraid to even say anything. Heck, Nintendolife for arbitrary reasons refuses to review it.

Now personally, I'm not on the cancel culture train as I think it's silly. The people who scream it the loudest are just as guilty in doing the same thing.

Re: Tears Of The Kingdom Continues To Prove That 'Open World Zelda' Is A Best-Selling Formula

GooseLoose1

@DennisReynolds I gonna say no Skyward Sword getting a bad rep. if you wanna go by fans accounts, they are all over the place, but the game was critically acclaimed upon release by critics.

Im not sure about Skywards sales, but that can be partially blamed by the WII system alone. A forced requirement of most WII games was intense physical movement.

It certainly didn't help that Skyward Sword "forced" you to upgrade your existing WIImote, for the plus version in order to play the game properly.

People want to come home, and sit down to play a game. Not swing their arms around like a madman. This is a problem with alot of WII games. The Wiimote itself is a controversial device because of just how unwell it handles in most games.

Re: Mailbox: The Future Of 3D Mario, Indie Sequels, Deadlines - Nintendo Life Letters

GooseLoose1

@Lizuka That depends really. Open World as a concept is fun, but it's executed in the most boring ways possible.

I used to love Assassin's creed when it first came out. But I stopped at that pirate game. I noticed even now the genre has barely moved the needle.

The main issue with an open world game is you need to fill it with alot of stuff, and alot of stuff takes a long time. Devs have found a shortcut to this, which imo is why the open world games are boring.

It's mindless busywork. Devs go the fast route and just fill it up with random things to keep you zombified to the screen. Most things outside the linear story are just designed to pad at game length.

Fetch quest - NPC says go to X and do this, get cheap reward and done.

Collectibles - Go search the world for x just because.

Many open world games are just chained to this mundane gameplay loops. To the point I would rather have just played a linear game.

I think atleast, i want to believe, that for a open world game to truly break free of the cycle, it's going to require more than 5 years of dev time, and good amount of patience and care.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Wario Land: Shake It!

GooseLoose1

@Daniel36 That's why I like it too. Nothing against EU, but NA and Japan just do a better job at depicting Wario.

EU's is nice, but it makes Wario appear as if he's going on a fun adventure.

The other two show who Wario is as a character. Selfish, rude, greedy, and doesn't lift a finger unless gold is involved.

In the game he tunes out hearing the plight of innocent creatures, but is at full attention when money is mentioned.

So, to me I think NA, and Japan just did a better job showing the selfish nature of the character, why EU depicts him in a more softer light.

@MontyCircus The dust has settled on this matter. Why are you trying to resurrect it? You should have arrived earlier.

The original poster simply disagreed with a word, and offered a reasonable explanation in a kind manner. There was back and forth, before staff stepped in.

Your post changes their tone to sound more angry than it actually was.

Same poster apologized , made their peace, and it's over with. Kindly, do not restart this again. The staff doesn't need to spend an hour purging posts, to eventually just decide to close the comments all together.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - The Best 2D Mario Since The Super NES

GooseLoose1

@PinderSchloss For what it's worth I agree with you. I never did buy the excuse that Mario games have no story, therefore the film needs to not have any.

Lego's are just bricks, yet the Lego movie took said bricks and transformed them into cinema.

If a movie about bricks can do that, then there's no excuse for Mario being so lackluster by comparison.

Re: Review: Sonic Superstars - A Fine, Authentic-Feeling Return That Runs Great On Switch

GooseLoose1

@Notsoavid Superstars was inspired by the success of Mania. So yes, recapturing classic Sonic into a new experience for newcomers was the idea behind it.

Sonic Team did want to include multiplayer in a Sonic game for a long while, but found it problematic due to Sonic's speed. Naoto Ohshima, co-creator of Sonic, insisted they go ahead and include it anyways.

This is what hurt Sonic Superstars score more than it helped. Critics did enjoy the single player aspect, but had no choice but to include the multiplayer too into their overall score.

Critics were put into a tough spot. It's not that many wanted to be harsh on Sonic Superstars, they just had to be up front that multiplayer experience is wonky as heck.

Sites have given the game 6-7's. I have little doubt the game would have been 7-8's had the multiplayer portion been cut all together.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars

GooseLoose1

@Dr_Corndog You know it's weird.
Mario is slightly older than sonic, yet within those same span of years, Mario has constantly had stream of high marks from critics with audiences for the vast majority of the time agreeing.

What's Sonic excuse? Oh yeah, I forget. Critics just have an axe to grind.

Re: Random: Nintendo Gives Princess Peach Some Facial Tweaks In 'Showtime!' Key Art

GooseLoose1

@Noxide After reading your comments, you are the exact thing Im talking about is wrong. Everything is on a extreme spectrum.

Showing a little attitude or confidence? Oh snap she's a man hating masculine female who's rough around the edges.

This is what I mean by taking something minor, and running away with it. People are doing the same with this box art. A slight change to her facial appearance, and suddenly Peach is a whole new personality. She's no longer a sweet princess, but some hyper masculine dudette.

I don't why people keep jumping to the most extreme conclusions all the time.

Peach can still kick butt and drink her afternoon tea as well. Two things can be true.

Re: Random: Nintendo Gives Princess Peach Some Facial Tweaks In 'Showtime!' Key Art

GooseLoose1

After reading these comments, I wonder when did everything become so extreme? It's always either or.

Why can't Peach be both? Being fierce or a girl boss doesn't erase her girly girl traits at all. I just wonder why does she have to be one or the other?

I just don't see this angry look people are talking about. The same look you see can also be applied to people who simply look confident. Here to me she simply looks confident and ready to save the day.

Re: Nintendo's Next Switch Online Game Trial Is Now Live (North America)

GooseLoose1

@Chojimaroji Sorry but there is such thing as too much. You spend more time reading Eastward than you do actually playing it. The dialogue to gameplay ratio is imbalanced.

It would be one thing if Eastward were an interactive book, movie, tv show, comic... But it's advertised an adventure game. It has bad pacing.

When you reach chapter 2 the pacing comes to a complete halt to do an entire random side story that takes forever to get going. Once you get through all that dialogue you spend no more than maybe 15 minutes in a dungeon only spend another 20 minutes reading...again.

Eastward's pacing is awful. The dialogue itself isn't all that great either. Alot of it really could have been cut down. One reviewer said it best "Characters have two lines where one would do, and one line where none would do."

You barely do anything before you're in another long winded cutscene.
