I've said it elsewhere, but 3DS has outsold GBA's lifetime sales in Japan, and 2016 has loads of games catering to this market. Wii U selling double what it did the same week last year in Japan is really saying something (Splatoon will definitely be sticking around for NX I'm sure). Shame the Fire Emblem crossover hasn't sold well, I wonder if it just got lost in the mix, I was assuming it was going to be rather big there.
It's a shame a game as special as XCX has seemingly underperformed everywhere (even in Japan). Will be so interesting to see what Zelda will do for the system.
For a year assumed to be its last hurrah, 2016 seems to be a better hear overall for the Wii U (my main concerns being Starfox, Pokkén, Zelda and Yooka Laylee). I don't see the NX appearing 2016, but if it's a hybrid then perhaps they can afford to seeing as it would blend all resources into the one platform instead of two (and would neatly compensate for a lack of 3rds if they don't budge). I can't wait to see how it unfolds in any case.
Wave Race: just downloaded it, it's framed with the most gorgeous black borders around it. I thought we were getting the American version, of was that just 1080°?
The fact that the word is in quotes is in line with the ambiguity, so no hint of the sort. Nintendoeverything.com also jumped in this yesterday, which is unlike them.
I don't see the point because of backwards compatibility - as loads have said in other posts, they should only really do Wii VC games if it's an expensive item like Fire Emblem, or if they lower the price (as good as 15% off at launch is, it's still cheaper to buy physical copies). I'd really be stretching myself to buy any more Wii games so it's unlikely they'll ever upload something indont have, but there are so many other games to focus on instead on other systems
I've about 24 hours played, and still only on chapter 4. In fact, I'm struggling so hard as to working out how to get up somewhere that I need to find a walk through, so this will be getting watched tomorrow before I resume again. I'd been focusing on reaching level 50 on Splatoon, so now that's done it's time to focus back on XCX - it's definitely a words-cant-describe game that's for sure.
Will get both N64 obviously. Never played 1080, but Save Race is a huge favourite - the sequel sadly drowned all that was good about it (save Aspen Lake). I'll be interested to see any supposed differences between the PAL and NTSC versions, but will hold onto my cartridge as all the ads will be gone.
Of course Wii U Pro and Classic are options - there is a special pad going to be on sale for this game too.
The stress of a Wii U fan: not even being able to take local 2 player for granted on an arcade fighter. I worry this will be another bare bones release, but it has heaps of potential.
I'll have said before in this comments section: they really should give the sequel free as a download for those buying Zero. It would be such a good incentive. They should still put it out on the VC anyway.
I've played Splatoon almost twice as much as MK8 now, it's so unique and un-put-downable. Both Splatoon and MM are console-defining games, but as much as I was in awe of MM at first, I think it's got so much more potential and so far the dlc hasn't quite 'tapped' into it yet (here's hoping NX gets a sequel for both as launch games).
I do hope a Mario Maker 2 happens on NX: upscaled 'Land' themes (the way that Life of Pixel mimics gameboy graphics), amiibo skins for all of the installments, and Yoshi's Island, they would be my highest wants for it. I think Nintendo must realise MM was the perfect Wii U launch game that never was, it was a total uereka moment for the gamepad and their commitment to the stylus. For the moment, those first two months where I played over 50 hours of it is now over, but if it gets a good update that can make me want to make more levels, then I very much look forward to it.
Damn, my MK8 is requiring an update - must have deleted some stuff by accident, or else there's been a sizeable update recently. Will join in about an hour I reckon.
Shame no release date, but reassuring about the gamepad, and I really can't wait to get this - it's dirt cheap on the other systems though, so over £20 and it won't be day one sadly.
@neyoung8 I'd need to count, but with VC stuff it's probably 240-ish, so maybe 250 is the limit. I still have 300gb left, it's ridiculous. Have bought a 2nd Wii U now anyway. I might email Nintendo in case they can do something.
I'll be seeking out snow levels on Banjo Kazooie, M64, Yoshi's Woolly World, etc, plus hurrying up with getting to grips with Minecraft to use the festive skin pack (it's tough tearing myself away from Splatoon and XCX though). Animal Crossing is a good one too. I tried and failed to download NiGHTS for the Xbox 360 via the XB1, but you can't do that - disaster.
Couldn't be happier with MRPG coming to Wii U finally, had been so close to getting it via the Wii mode too.
Does anyone know how many game slots your Wii U can store? I'm a long way off using all my external 50gb, but had go delete some demos as it said there were no more available slots to show my last download.
Oh dear. Well, for me these DS games mostly play rather well on the big screen (this for me does anyway). My main gripe is that I go to play it at unsuitable hours when places are closed, but up until Xenoblade it was basically my secondary game after Splatoon. It's definitely valid to dock it points for the Wii U experience of it as opposed to having it on the 3DS, but that platform can play the original anyway and I really like getting DS games on my Wii U, whether they are better to look at on the gamepad or not. It does annoy me that incant chose to have either screen show up big on my TV though. All in all, from just 20 hours of play I'd settle my score down at an 8.
Turok was really quite special, it's a shame to see a game that actually was quite technically advanced be dismissed. I never got any of the sequels (apart from the GameCube one, which has different developers and I've yet to try it), but roamed around in that vast, tall landscape many an hour back in the day. If it came to the Wii U VC I'd buy it in a heart beat as I can't find my original copy anymore.
I almost think things like this are Microsoft grooming Nintendo, or positioning themselves, in the chance than Nintendo's next hardware stab misses again and they go 3rd party.
Back to reality (almost), if Wii U gets RR I would hope we get Diddy Kong Racing, it seriously is one of the best video games of all time. They could even dock off the Xbox games, which by and large just don't hold their own against the Nintendo era ones.
I feel as though such core signature Wii games should have been added from the beginning - the 'what will be next?' speculation is non-existant for me. I'd only double up on my Wii games if the price was far lower (like I did with XC at £8.99, which seemed like a steal given how over-priced they usually are online). Broken record time, but they really should have a dedicated department to churn these out as many who do have massive collections on previous systems would only get into it in an all or nothing sense (like myself).
Loving the game. I don't think I'll go forward with the faster leagues, but have gone onto the 3rd out of 4 cups. Some tracks are quite punishing, but simply demand that you keep at it. Online froze out on me, and wiped any trace of it on my Daily Log.
Cannot come quickly enough, I hope the west doesn't need to wait too long for it. It's been clear from the start this wouldn't be a typical Shin Megami Tensei or Fire Emblem game, so mourning this fact now is a bit daft.
If it gets around 18 more months as the main focus handheld, then it's pretty much on par with the DS lifespan. Seems like enough time to justify what he's said about things not being over for it.
Was a cheap comment about PS4 and XB1 - I almost thought he meant solely for 2015, which would have been impressive. I'd rather have those numbers. In about 6 weeks we'll have the final 2015 sales in, which hopefully won't make his comments now seem a bit silly.
The sooner Nintendo combines home and portable the better: I hope we reap the benefits with twice as many 1st party games and extra 3rd party support.
I suppose if you already have it, why would you be excited? But as someone who has yet to play it, I can't wait to have it on Wii U, not least because of the promised Nintendo content to follow. And price-wise, because it has add on content, it's on par with the other versions.
Only if it meant GoldenEye re-make would simultaneously come to NX first (assuming NX is more powerful), and Nintendo had a timed exclusive (albeit for a shorter time than a year or whatever is standard). But only GoldenEye or some other Rare games (if Microsoft want it badly enough, why not secure sequels to those N64 games whilst they're at it).
Just got into NLA, yup it feels pretty special. Was under the impression I had to get inside asap, so wish I had took on more battles, but at the same time it made me consider the environment and approach with more care. My next non-working day is basically going to be a XCX day.
Played only an hour as I'm going through the manual (got my copy yesterday after a 12 hour day) and yes there's so much to take in. I'd much rather learn as I go along, but I'll persevere. Basically, I'm not much further than going past those sleeping beasts I chose not to combat, ie, I've barely gone anywhere!
It wasn't marketed, the "anyone who likes this genre will know its out" approach was really arrogant. With little else to push you'd think they'd go with a game that's genuinely getting critical praise across the board. The comparison to Wii week one sales is something though.
Was going to get this on Xbox One the other day, just as well I didn't. If it goes for £20 then, including the add on content, that's pretty much equal to how much that would cost me for buying the same for Xbox One. Just a pity it's not a retail release.
I really want this game, but portables just aren't for me - I don't see the harm in making 'old' 3DS games available via the Wii U eShop, it would be an easy way to give us yet more to pad out this next final big year.
Before the servers do go down, I really hope we get a download update giving us turf war for local multi-player. This game has to live on, how strange it would be to have the main focus of it gone.

Drill Dozer for me. I might get Temple of Yog too.

Yooka Laylee is my most anticipated after LoZ Wii U - I'm hoping they make the Wii U version then definitive one (with more unique features).

Sonic 1, 2 & 3 (including S&K), plus All-Stars Racing Transformed (despite criminally never getting that needed patch).
