@Tisteg80 book of Unwritten Tales 2 is £14.99 on Amazon UK, so anyone buying digitally should be aware (Splatoon is also £15). Orders need to be over £20 to get free delivery though.

I'm getting both Terraria and Unwritten Tales 2 physical editions, but clicked on those anyway to indicate. That shooter sounds interesting on that description, but the price indicates otherwise. VC offerings don't do much for me lately, I'd prefer a steady stream of N64 games rather than DS games that don't look great on big TVs. Even more SNES would be preferable, and would upscaling GameBoy games really be that much effort.

Re: 3DS to Continue as a 'Major Pillar' of Nintendo's Business

GLA

A severe price drop might have lured me in, but I'm now just awaiting NX news as if it is a hybrid know full well I'll dive straight in and expect some kind of 3DS virtual console library. As a Wii U fan, I still avidly play Splatoon, still buy games and still have a massive backlog all to keep me sustained.

I don't know Whoa Dave! but Bit Trip I really enjoy - to me it feels like a game I could imagine playing on the Saturn. So I'll get this if it gets a Euro release.

Re: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty Has a Confirmed Wii U Release Date

GLA

Halleluja, it's finally here. I've 3 download slots left before I need to start deleting to fit anything new (8-30gb I can forgive, but limited download slots is scandalous), and there's no way I'm passing on this - for some reason I want it on the Wii U more than PS4 or XB1 where I can get it cheaper.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 DS (Wii U eShop / DS)

GLA

Strange, I thought it overwhelmingly improved playing this DS remake on the Wii U than the actual DS, so all the tweaks, bonuses and adjustments can be basked in and enjoyed without the control issues. For me, easily 9/10. Very worthwhile, but sure, play it after the original.

Re: Macronix Will Be Providing Memory Products for the NX

GLA

I think it will be branded as a 'the NX family' kind of things. I really do like the idea of the portable coming first, followed by the console. It gives the Wii U a little extra time (although by that point I think I'd much prefer all focus going on NX games). In any case, actual news looking more likely to be soon will at least bring an end to the slightly wearing speculation (which I'm totally guilty of myself).

Re: Talking Point: Splatoon Began With an Early Access Approach, and Has Provided a Valuable Lesson

GLA

Perfect experience for me. Can only roll my eyes at voice chat still being mentioned - it would be nice for private battles, but otherwise it would inhibit the experience for those without.

I do think the sequel will want to avoid the usual echo of the same complaints, so hopefully they will have a lot more than 4. I really do want the next console to launch with this game. The 1 player campaign also has heaps of potential - it's easy, but at the same time I loved the change of pace and working out what was ahead of me each time.

No complaints, just a brilliant console-defining game.

Re: Video: See How Much Mario Kart has Changed Since Mario Kart 64

My stomach still goes on N64 Royal Raceway's jump. It plays so well on the gamepad. MK8 is as close to perfection as a game can get in my opinion. Double Dash!! remains another gem - the doubling up should definitely be considered as a separate mode for the next iteration (especially with the weapon system it had). I haven't played much of Circuit, which I wouldn't write off completely, as I like it in a sort of tribute to the original way, and MK Wii is certainly a great game, but lacked a certain polish that DD!! had in spades. Both 64 and 8 are key games for me as they're from the two Nintendo systems I've enjoyed the most.

Re: Talking Point: The Allure of the Virtual Console and How Nintendo Can Harness It

GLA

As a gesture to Wii U owners, I don't think it's beyond possibility that they would let us transfer our collections over to the NX - things like this would help iron out any grumbles about any 'abandonment' issues. I'm excited about what they'll be doing next time in any case - it does seem like they want a seemless experience, which bodes well if so.

Re: Talking Point: The Allure of the Virtual Console and How Nintendo Can Harness It

GLA

They can start by a) taking off the limit of the amount of games you can get (Nintendo UK have td me there is no limit, and yet I am told I have no more available slots despite having 300 GB left on my 500 GB external hd), and b) reducing the prices, at the very least on a 'buy more save more' policy (I'd probably just buy it all if all SNES games were 100 for £100 etc). I love my Wii U as a hub/jukebox of video games, but it's rather bothersome that I've run out of 'slots' and have maybe 5 things I can delete (Netflix, BBC, etc). I do have 2 Wii U's (long story), but you can't even transfer games between the two (which would be awesome for having the best on one and less than great ones I wanted out of curiosity one the other - but then if they just had 500gb to start with, and no ridiculous limit of 'slots' then I wouldn't need to even want such a ridiculous set up anyway).

So yeah, the VC is a gold mine not even fully realised and badly executed for people who have no will power when it comes to buying them (ahem).

Re: Feature: Exciting Wii U and 3DS Games to Play in the First Quarter of 2016

GLA

Might No. 9 is in February too.

The whole year isn't too grim either...
Jan: Lego Marvel
Feb: MN9
Mar: Zelda HD
Apr: Star Fox X
May: ?
Jun: Pokkén Tournament (at the latest)
Jul: ?
Aug: Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Sep: ?
Oct: Yooka Laylee
Nov:
Dec: Zelda Wii U (let's hope before)

And we still have the excitement of Harvest Moon, Lost Reavers, and possible Projects Robot and Guard and the rumoured free to play amiibo.

Fingers crossed we still get #FE as I think it looks like a blast.

We'll be showered with some eshop games once again quite literally filling in the gaps.

Re: Alien Dinosaurs Will Be Invading The Wii U And 3DS eShops Soon

GLA

I love the gameboy aesthetic, the GB stages in Life of Pixrel may well have been my favourite. I'd also absolutley love Nintendo to release upascaled GB titles to the VC. This looks intriguing, but I agree with the point about randomly generated levels not really suiting what I want from this sort of eshop game.
