That's two weeks where low PS4 sales have been explained by readers in the comments section, so it's a bit daft to leave out the pending price drop explanation in articles rejoicing about the Wii U beating it.
Still great to see the console staying consistent and competitive in any market. With a modest but notable stable of hits that are or have shown great staying power, perhaps what would consolidate it in the absence of any blockbuster releases (XCX for the West I know), would be to have, oh I dunno, a price cut.
Along with MK8 and Splatoon, I'd say this has given the Wii U its strongest iconography to date. I just find it all so... pleasing. It's a shame I've only 20 stars when you need 50 to get more uploads allowed, but I've 2 slots spare and only just finally unlocked the Mario Kart power-up.
I already got Toad, MK8 OST and the coin, but once I do my last survey will have 900 points. I doubt there will be much if at all, but I think I did good overall.
Having got the dark Wii U Skylanders and regular Wii Skylanders, I'll be waiting patiently for a massive price cut (the other ttl games with portals all plummeted in price eventually), which would seem more likely as there's no Wii U special edition. All I'd get is the Dr Who level, but I'd rather just buy it as a download as I don't really wsnt more figures tat.
It's such a simplistic premise, atrociously basic graphics, you'd think the gameplay would be easy to get down - I've both (anything reduced seems to end up being downloaded), just make sure you get the discounted first one to then get 60% off (Europe only I'd imagine), which means both for the same price as buying just the 2nd one on its own.
A decent list of new releases, but I'm bored of the rotation of discounts never seeming to move onto games I actually want and am waiting to be discounted.
Skylanders figures are epitome of tack, I was hoping Bowser and DK would have had at least the same base as actual amiibos. It's quite funny seeing all the eBay listings with everything bar Bowser and DK though.
I splurged on Skylanders, so for this and Lego I'm hedging my bets that both will be discounted heavily eventually as i got 1.0 for a tenner and 2.0 for £12. I'm far from aching to play it as 2.0 had far too many glitches, and the menus were annoying when I simply wanted to play the game... But then I'm not then sharpest in the toolbox sometimes.
I bought both when they came out on the VC and have yet to dive in, but I disagree with the comment above and actually can't wait to start playing thanks to the review. I'd rather charm, oddities and humour were alluded to than spoiled, and this review gets it just right in terms of what I want to know (and not want to know too I guess).
I never had a NES (I loved my Master System), and have gotten more than carried away buying games here and there (currently playing Adventure Island in small doses in between my 'main gaming'). Those are some hard as heck games back in those days.
"To make it easier for the Europeans in the room, how many more people would play FIFA if a console wasn't required? Another 20 million."
Thank god he mentioned FIFA there, I wasn't understanding such a complicated idea up until that point.
Just imagine how many people would have seen Jurassic World had we done away with cinemas. Think how many cars we'd have without money (for Europeans reading, when I say cars and money, I actually mean cars and money).
The big three will adapt anyway. I think my favourite was the MS estimation, and I'd also be over the moon if Wii U hit 20m.
They need to rotate the discounts better - I feel it's always the same ones. Will play my previews beforr Thursday and see if any of the new 'nindies' are worth a purchase. I'll probably give in and go for Skylanders for both Wii & Wii U, I've just not decided which way I'd like to be robbed blind by them yet (do I go dark, etc).
I hope Project Zero out sells this decent, but often overrated, under-performer. 6/10 - probably more than decent if you like the genre, otherwise lacking anything truly memorable. The gamepad feature does indeed add intensity, and yet it could be argued this isn't exploited enough (perhaps ubi had their sights on ports all along, with the low sales actually delaying the other versions).
Really? That nail's been wacked every which way, so at least the games that actually are coming are going to leave the best legacy possible. And yes, we have Xenoblade Chronicles X, which I hope Nintendo gives a big campaign for.
At least shove out the SNES sequel on the VC to tide some wanting this over (I still think they should give download codes for the game exclusively with SFZ). It would be nice if Nintendo gave Xenoblade a bigger push than expected, just to give the Wii U a profile over the period. I hope the delay adds online modes.
I'm kind of glad I hesitated with this, but at the same time seems worth getting just to have something so unexpected in my Wii U library. It looks intriguing, but I'll wait for a few more verdicts.
The game is awesome, I never thought I'd be this addicted to it. I'm nowhere near unlocking it all (my ocd won't allow me to change my Wii u date, especially as I love looking at what I've played most each day). The 8-bit playable characters in particular are a highlight - I hope the first main DLC is playing different characters in the NSMBU mode.
I've 5 levels up and have had just the 3 stars and 2 comments - I'm honestly pleased I even got that. I've downloaded 1 that sampled all these rave sounds. I've no interest in the sit back and watch levels ... Apart from that Mario Kart level, but wish you could do more yourself whilst its up and running (or driving).
The game is near perfection. It may not have been a bold leap, instead with HD it basked in almost everything that the games had achieved up until that point. Amazing replay value as well.
Just to echo what others have said, I can barely squeeze in any other games because I'm still so hooked on Splatoon. I had a minor issue with my MM pre-order, but Nintendo UK customer service were amazing and my delivery is back on, but will be a fee days yet. I didn't expect to be this excited about this game - I even want that bundle, the box alone is easily the most iconic of all of them.
On the topic of a game that's been on Nintendo first and subsequently being adjusted for another platform, Conker's Bad Fur Day was also censored by Microsoft (something to think about if you're wanting the Rare Replay maybe).
Its not a particularly big discount, so waiting for a more appealing price cut, but it does look really good. I'll also be looking out for news on fixing the bugs as I was surprised it didn't get a higher score based on footage I'd seem of it.
On a better note, my local game has Mario Maker well displayed (place holders, or actual cases, I've not looked closely) at the front. I ordered with Nintendo as I want that mustard-yellow T-shirt.
7 is still a good score. I'd say the review hits all the handicaps spot on, and ultimately it's still a recommendation. Definitely an instance where the N64 VC games need to be priced a lot lower.
Love DD, it's the only one that can be claimed to be a cult favourite as it's easily the most criticised (Super Circuit doesn't warrant discussion alongside the others in my opinion). Love the graphics, unique experience per character and the strategizing this opened up, the feel of drifting excelled, with my favourites being Sherbert (the gorgeous MK8 update loses the ice sensation, which is a huge loss) and the stupendous barrel-blasting DK route. My jaw dropped at the unlockable Wario, and both the dinosaur circuit and Daisy Cruiser were arguably very Rare inspired (the latter felt very Mickey's Speedway in fact). The game is awesome!! I second the wish for the double-racer to be a separate mode in the next console outing (perhaps as a DLC component to add hype).
Ben can only be found reading up on gaming history when not teaching or coaching though, so cut him some slack.
I'm far too intrigued about this as a lost N64 gem to not go through with buying now. Anything that has someone claiming it to be its pinnacle deserves a shot in my book.
I don't think the game has much wide appeal, it's more of a vanity item than game, but I'm still looking forward to owning it all (probably more than playing it).

Quite the influx of PSV games there. I wonder just how fast Splatoon will/might pass over the million mark in Japan, especially compared with MK8.

Yes, not being able to extend or maintain any lead over the computer opponents was a major negative of MK64.
But I don't agree with many regarding it being ugly - some of the console's best looking scenes are in here.
