Re: Mahi Mahi Resort Map Arrives in Splatoon on 3rd December

GLA

Over 360 hours and still addicted to this. I can't make out what this map is about based on those pictures, but if it favours the pick a spot and fire from it brigade I'll probably hate it (but then again. I think all the maps offer everyone solutions if they are willing to try new tactics).

Re: Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories Releases for Wii U in 2016

GLA

Footage looks terrible, so this is encouraging only in that it might be safe to assume they were showing stuff from the mobile version on massive screen. I don't have any expectation for this, but if the final Wii U product shows more than just minimal effort I'll be quite pleased as I like some of the old ones.

Re: Nintendo of Europe's eShop Cyber Deals End With a Bang on Wii U and 3DS

GLA

1 good deal out of 16. But a great one: I already own XC and couldn't pass this up. It's also compatible with the offer to buy the Wii game and get £10 off a digital XCX (bringing it down to £40, which isn't too shabby for getting both I guess).

I hope the XC downloads eclipse all the other 'offers' so that NoE might actually realise how terrible this black Friday weekend has been.

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival (Wii U)

GLA

The biggest crime is that the visuals don't match the MK8 Animal Crossing track. Not played this yet, but it sure looks pretty on my shelf behind sliding doors along with the Amiibo set (which I'm hoping will be compatible with a future main installment on the NX).

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th November (Europe)

GLA

To make it fair, I hope they do a buy so many get so much off, with the more you buy the bigger the discount. As per usual, I think anyone who has loads of games is going to lose out, but we'll see.

Re: Review: Typoman (Wii U eShop)

GLA

This game is excellent. Is it hard in places? Boo hoo. As acknowledged, the auto save will have you starting back from where you left/lept off right away. It's really engrossing, definitely up there as a Wii U indie game of the year.

Re: Review: The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy's Grand Adventure (Wii U)

GLA

Best movie tie in for me was Aladdin on the Mega Drive, it always tempts me to buy that system again just thinking about it.

So I have Sboopy. 6 is fair - to me such a score means fans of the genre, which most Nintendo players are, will find something in it. The hats, etc, altering what abilities you have, add a nice touch to your choices. Nowhere near finished, it's a small doses kinda game for me.

Re: Feature: A History of the Mario Tennis Franchise

GLA

Shame the ones on the VC won't be getting discounted for tomorrow's Ultra Smash release, I was holding out as the GBA version intrigues me with the RPG elements. I've heard about the poor reviews, and expect one from here, so won't really be paying any attention unless I find out for myself it's a poor outing (to my eyes it looks great - simple, but great). I'm a huge fan of the N64 game, so pity you can't buy it on the European VC on its own if what I've heard about it being only available if you download the Wii U game is true.

Re: Minecraft Wii U Edition Classification Has Been Removed By PEGI

GLA

I wonder if it was true and Nintendo have reacted badly and are now just airbrushing it from existence like that Treehouser spilling the localisation beans. Surely they wouldn't cut their noses to spite their face with such an arguably major game they'd be getting. I'd like an official statement whatever the case. If it does come to the Wii U, I hope they give it some exclusive features, both superficial and deep.

Re: Parent Trap: Oft-Forgotten Wii U Features That Matter To Families

GLA

If only they'd hurry and put all the Wii virtual console games onto the Wii U's vc - I skipped the Wii and generally dislike switching modes to access Majora's Mask and a few others, but if the likes of all the Square games were added id be over the moon. And time to get Yoshi's Island up there, and why not put up Starfox 2, treats like that would go a long way in pleasing those that have stayed loyal. I may have went off on a tengent...

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (Europe)

GLA

Shame no eshop games as there was really nothing on that leaked VC list that I'm inclined to think is real. Have been looking forward to Rodea for ages, it's been pre-ordered since it was available - I just hope the gameplay feels elegant and it has some unexpected quirks, it's a good looking package anyway.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo's Release Date Quirks in North America and Europe are Harmful to the Holiday Season

GLA

What they should have done for US Yoshi was add an extra level, or make the unlockable ones available from the get go (some of them are actually the very best). They delayed the N64 iteration to increase the difficulty, which at least gives an explanation - it seems this time it was to have it 'hatch' at a time where sales should be higher (which they would probably get some respect for if they just admitted to).

On the other side (as it were), you have Devil's Third - there are so many rubbish kiddy stuff on the Wii U, it just seems so over the top to have this game down as the worst thing that's ever happened (in a week where new releases in Europe include Hello Kitty, Snoopy and Adventure Time, I'd happily have a dated, flawed slasher that does at least have some ambition to it).

Re: Video: A Wii Wave Race Project Got Far Enough to Have Its Own Patents

GLA

Unseen64 don't mention Project Hammer enough.

Glad this particular pitch didn't get off the ground/water - the Wii could play GameCube games anyway and wasn't that much more powerful to give it much more distinction, and those controls sound terrible. I adore Wave Race 64 and the GameCube game just doesn't touch the 'original' N64 version, so I'm glad they didn't get to ruin the memory a second time. It's a major shame the Wii U hasn't got a Wave Race title - here's hoping the NX gets it.
