Minecraft

Rumours of Minecraft: Wii U Edition - and its subsequent release - happened rather quickly, but it was something that wasn't entirely surprising. The eShop already had its fair share of Minecraft clones and they'd proven that there was demand for that particular type of game on the console. While it's maybe a bit of a stretch to say that it's the definitive version of the game, it will no doubt expand the game's influence even further than before as it reaches new audiences that have otherwise not experienced it.

This is somewhat evident in the recent sales of the game on the Japanese eShop where it's become the ninth best-selling game of all time. Making the top ten would be an impressive enough feat on its own, but it's made all the more impressive by the fact that it's been out for scarcely a week. The next game it has to beat to become number eight is NES Remix; it'll be interesting to see just how far it goes both in Japan and other regions.

What do you think? Did you get Minecraft for Wii U? Do you think it deserves to be in the top ten? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
