With the start of another week we have the European Nintendo Download Update details, and there are multiple promising arrivals this week. Kirby is on top form with the latest major retail release on 3DS, while on Wii U we have world-building and humorous adventure on offer. There are also various eShop-only options, including some high-profile DLC, while there are plenty of discounts and 3DS HOME Themes - let's get to it.
Wii U eShop
B3 Game Expo for Bees (Createasaurus, €7.99 / £7.99) - A rather surprising first-person shooter that's heading exclusively to the Wii U, it's certainly aiming to be quirky by playing up its parody links to E3 while also trying to use the GamePad in a good way. It promises zaniness and humour, and will hopefully be a fun game to play at the same time; we'll see whether it's worth any buzz in our review.
Sanatory Hallways (Wegenbartho, €9.99 / £8.99) - Previously listed in August last year, it's likely popped up due to a release in some new countries. In any case, we didn't think much of it in our review.
Wii U Retail Downloads
Terraria (505 Games, €19.99 / £17.99) - Available on the 3DS for a while, this finally makes its way to Nintendo's home console, with bigger environments one of the expected pay-offs. The GamePad touch screen will be supported, while multiple online multiplayer features have been touted. We'll dig into this for a review.
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 (Nordic Games, €19.99 / £17.99) - This one saw its release date move around a little on Wii U, but is finally pinned down. An adventure with roots in the point-and-click era, we can expect humour to go with our important quest - we'll see whether it's a magical experience in a review. Available from 7th June.
Wii U Virtual Console
Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) - Sales figures suggest that many who enjoy the main series 'mon games don't jump into the various spin-offs. Pokémon Ranger likely falls into this category, though the arrival of the DS series on Wii U does skip the first one to deliver this sequel, which we regarded as a '1.5' entry. You use the stylus to befriend and battle Pokémon, as the main hook, and we quite enjoyed it in our original review.
Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29) - This is the third entry in the series, and throws a second quest and Legendary Pokemon into the Ranger formula. Like its predecessor, though, it'll more-than-likely lack the online content on the Wii U; nevertheless you can check out our original review for details.
Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
FreezeME (RNC, €9.99 / £8.99 until 23rd June, normally €13.99 / £12.59)
Trine Enchanted Edition (Frozenbyte, €6.49 / £5.49 until 23rd June, normally €12.99 / £10.99)
Word Puzzles by POWGI (Lightwood Games, €6.99 / £6.29 until 16th June, normally €8.99 / £7.99)
Life of Pixel (Super Icon, €4.99 / £4.49 until 7th July, normally €9.99 / £8.99)
Job the Leprechaun (Herrero, €1.99 / £1.99 until 7th July, normally €2.99 / £2.69)
The Rivers of Alice: Extended Version (Delirium Studios, €5.99 / £5.39 until 16th June, normally €7.99 / £7.19)
3DS eShop
Puzzle Labyrinth (CIRCLE Entertainment, €5.00 / £4.29) - A potential nice fit for the 3DS eShop, as this sets you the task of solving puzzles in order to work your way through a maze, combat monsters and so on. 60 stages are promised, so we'll solve the conundrum of whether it's worth a purchase in our review.
3DS Retail Download
Kirby: Planet Robobot (Nintendo, €39.99 / £34.99) - HAL Laboratory returns with another cheerful and colourful platformer, though the mechanised theme here sets it up nicely for some smart level design and enjoyable twists. Beyond an excellent campaign there are multiple unlockables to dip into, and we gave this an enthusiastic recommendation in our Kirby: Planet Robotot review. Available from 10th June, eShop or official website purchases before 7th July include the "Kirby: Planet Robobot: Robobot Armour" 3DS HOME Theme.
New Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console
Kirby's Dream Course (Nintendo, €7.99 / £7.19 ) — It's golf, Kirby style, with the pink one being a ball that can take out enemies and absorb abilities en-route to the cup. The crazy golf approach is also fun with a friend in multiplayer, assuming the pass-and-play option is included here. We'll hit up the course again, but until then you can check out our Wii U Virtual Console Kirby's Dream Course review.
3DS DLC
Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (Nintendo, €19.99 / £17.99) - Essentially the third full campaign for the game, in which you choose to side with neither Hoshida or Nohr in their conflict. It's recommended this is played after both Birthright and Conquest, as it offers fresh perspectives on various storylines and characters. We praised this a great deal in our Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation DLC review.
Fire Emblem Fates: Map 6 - Royal Royale (Nintendo, €2.49 / £2.29 or part of Map Pack 1) - Never mind the war between Hoshido and Nohr: who will win the battle to determine the single strongest sovereign?

Just a retail copy of Kirby and the amiibos for me, plus Mirrors Edge Catalyst on Xbox One.
I'm interested to know more about that B3 game though
I wonder how much Terraria costs in PS4. If it's not that far away in price I'll get in on WiiU
Still hoping for a release of the SNES version of Final Fantasy VI on the New 3DS Virtual Console in the west. Would be a perfect fit. Maybe in the release window of FF XV...
First week in ages where the weekly releases haven't been a complete disaster on both platforms.
I bought a physical copy of The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 on Wii U including delivery for less than the eShop price.
@Desy64 it's 18,99€ on PS4
Another week another list of trash
Another week, another "nothing for me this week"
Actually a not too bad week in terms of content I see :+). Not sure if I will buy any of these games this week, but maybe ^^.
I will buy the disc version of Terraria for Wii U, that's for sure. And maybe The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, too. I'll wait for the review on Nintendolife. Too bad that the predecessor isn't included. I don't know both games so that's a missed opportunity.
I'm getting both Terraria and Unwritten Tales 2 physical editions, but clicked on those anyway to indicate. That shooter sounds interesting on that description, but the price indicates otherwise. VC offerings don't do much for me lately, I'd prefer a steady stream of N64 games rather than DS games that don't look great on big TVs. Even more SNES would be preferable, and would upscaling GameBoy games really be that much effort.
I already have 20 euro locked and loaded on my eShop account for Revelation, and I'll be getting Kirby physical. The new version of Guilty Gear Xrd also releases this week, so lots for me to do!
@Tisteg80 book of Unwritten Tales 2 is £14.99 on Amazon UK, so anyone buying digitally should be aware (Splatoon is also £15). Orders need to be over £20 to get free delivery though.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE same for me, and with Terraria too (BoUT2 was £14.99 and Terraria was £17 on Amazon - not sure if Terraria is still that price though).
ShopTo actually shipped Kirby: Planet Robobot bundle (Game + amiibo) 2 days ago. Can't wait to play it after work.
You know, I was actually kinda hoping for this eShop update to be more subpar! That would be proof pointing towards a way stronger eShop release schedule next week. But as of now, I can't wait for Kirby: Planet Robobot to break my streak of games I wanted but couldn't afford (the latest two Zelda titles on 3DS, Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Bros and MegaMan Legacy Collection are still merely in my wishlist).
Here's hoping for an amazing E3, nonetheless! I can't wait for more surprise announcements.
What an incredibly long list of nothing.
I'll be picking up a physical copy of Kirby: Planet Robobot. I love Kirby games, and had an absolute blast with Kirby: Triple Deluxe, so I'm really looking forward to this latest entry.
I see Witch & Hero is discounted right now. I had a great time with the game, a simple but enjoyable game, so I'd recommend it as a purchase this week if anyone is interested.
Kirby, all four amiibos and revelations although I have to play through Birthright first.
Rest easy my £26.38 eShop credit, you will not be spent for at least another week.
I really hope there's something interesting for my birthday next week, but won't be holding my breath.
I believe Pokemon Ranger 1 already came out in the PAL VC. That being said, I would love to get Guardian Signs over here in NA. Ukulele Pichu, a group of islands almost as cool as Alola, legenedaries, and more make it the best Pokemon Ranger entry.
Nothing, I will gladly support Odin Sphere remaster, though.
Kirby and all the Fire Emblem stuff for me.
I'll get the rangers. Complete the trilogy on another console.
Just the Fates map as I got the special edition so Revelations is already on the cart.
Also misreading "Breakfast With Miffy" as "Breakfast At Tiffany's" made me sad, I'd totally buy a Deep Blue Something 3DS theme!
The Delusions of Von Sottendorff and his Square Mind looks interesting, not sure if I'll get it though.
Very decent week, but nothing for me. If my backlog wasn't so big, then I'd be very tempted to get Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia or Kirby Planet Robobot
And I'm sitting here, still waiting for my Planet Robobot limited edition with Amiibo to arrive!
No downloads, but I have the physical copy of Kirby: Planet Robobot arriving on Friday.
It cost £24.99.
If the seller is still making a profit at that price, the downloaded version must be a right old cash cow for Nintendo.
Lots.
Guardian Signs for me.
Does anyone know if Terraria's multiplayer is friend-only? Was it friend-only on other consoles?
When you play Kirby: Planet Robot the first time, don't pressed any button after starting the game. Listen to the music, it's the best Kirby/Nintendo game music ever.
The game has some frame-rate problem, it's not as smooth as Triple Deluxe, I think they pushed it a bit too far this time. But it's still playable and lots of fun playing Kirby Ironman!
I was really hoping a certain, different Kirby title was going to be released on 3DS eShop... y'know, Dream Land 3. ;-; As I already got 1 & 2 for my 3ds! But that aside, I can't wait for my preordered copy of Planet Robobot to arrive! ^_^
Was really hoping to see Castlevania 4 make an appearance on 3DS. I'm disappointed in the amount of Snes games arriving on the 3DS virtual console. I have a Wii U and I know it has quite an extensive library of Snes games, but I want to play Snes games on the go (with proper controls, no touch screen only).
Yay I get replay more pokemon ranger!
There is quite afew this week Terraria, Book of unwritten tales 2 and Kirby Robot but all physical versions probably and FE Revelation download.
Nothing for me this week. I don't know why, but I've seem to have lost all interest in Kirby... his games just don't appeal to me anymore. :/ Luckily, I have other games to keep me busy, and I still have Rio to look forward to in a couple weeks.
B3 isnt too expencive so i think il pick that up. Iv got Kirby coming too lol.
@Waninoko http://m.store.nintendo.co.uk/games-3ds/kirby-planet-robobot-kirby-amiibo-kirby-collection-pack/11272785.html that one right? its what iv ordred cant wate for it ^^ also that Avatar is grate lol
Puzzle Labyrinth and Kirby Dream Course for me
Not too bad this week, with some good Wii U and 3DS games. Personally, I'm picking up Kirby: Planet Robobot.
On this week's episode of Lowered Expectations...
book of unwritten tales looks pretty decent for fifteen quid physical. no downloads to me this week!
@Lord Just think of all that money you are saving.
nice, Dream Course is coming to 3DS
More Pokemon Ranger games on the way on Wii U as well
@LegendOfPokemon Yeah, the first Pokemon Ranger came to Wii U a year last February.
If it wasn't for that recent "5 year anniversary" thing, I might have considered one of the Ranger games, as is, I'm picking up a few sale items.
I'll likely be picking up a physical copy of Kirby sometime in the near future, but I'm not in any great hurry.
Availible until 2020...? wat. xD
@ThomasBW84 B3 has now been listed at 2.99 of our fine British pounds. Makes it a more attractive option.
