Holiday periods can bring some quirky chart results in the UK gaming scene, as heavy discounts help older titles climb back into the top 40. That's happened for the second week in a row, while a recent Wii U release is showing decent momentum.
Pokkén Tournament is giving a solid performance in the UK to date, with its results showing a gradual rather than rapid drop down the charts. This week the Wii U fighter is in 20th place in the all-format chart, down from 14th. Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS, however, has plummeted from 13th to 39th place in its second week, suggesting that it'll depart the top 40 rather soon.
There are a couple of surprises in the top 40 that have benefited from price promotions. Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer has re-entered the all-format charts in 25th place, boosted by various promotions including a handsome Amazon price on the game + NFC reader bundle.
A more surprising entry, however, is Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U, appearing in 36th place in the all-format charts and second in the Wii U-only results. Once again this is due to heavily discounted options online, particularly, giving an indication of a number of Wii U owners that had been very patient before picking it up.
The results are likely to bring a return to normality next week as the Easter Holidays end, and we'll see how Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games fares on the 3DS.

Well done Pokken Extremely surprised about Monster Hunter though, but kudos to it
@GuruOfGreatness yeah me too. MH3U is on sale everywhere for about £8/€12 everywhere at the moment. I git it second hand last year for €28 in cex which isn't bad but wish I had waited to get a new copy at that price.
Hopefully Pokken picks up a brand new audience and it's the start of a great franchise.
It was likely that Pokken was going to sell well. It's Tekken with Pokemon.
@Sticker No, it's not.
I got a free digital copy of MH3U from Club Nintendo.. or it might have been that Mario Kart 8 promotion.
It's awesome to see it chart though. MH Gens is [hopefully] going to do very well this summer!
Good to see MH3U getting some well deserved love. It's a great game that I have put hundreds of hours into and still go back to again and again. Wish we could see another console version of this great franchise.

Not £8 but this is why it had a huge sales boost.
@Achoo I don't that's quite the case here, MH has a very unfriendly rep and AC: HHD is a spin off. I wouldn't be surprised if people was waiting for price drops to reduce the risk
@OneArmedGiant basically the sole reason I want the NX to be a hybrid.
Anyone got a link to MH3 Wii U for a good price I want to pick it up!
@Achoo @Jazzer94 cheers for posting that link.
Yeah IGN have it listed on their daily deals for the past few weeks.
@abe_hikura people are picking up ACHHD just for their collection sadly. But Nintendo will only see it as people want this type of game.
Scalpers buying it most likely.
@Achoo
Nintendo fanbase is extremely choosy with their purchases. I notice on other platforms, a game like Trackmania Turbo comes out and bam, at least a million people pick it up. Great game- won't win any awards, but a solid release and it sells well.
On Nintendo, a top tier exclusive drops, like MH3U, and with relatively little competition (virtually none at time of release) and people are like, "eh, I'll pass". Years pass, people complain about droughts, yet still refuse to buy.
Look at Wonderful 101 or Code Name STEAM. It's a tragedy, it really is.
I've played so much of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on my 3DS, and I'm still occasionally getting further in it even now that MH4U occupies a lot of my time.
It looks like I missed the bargain price for MH3U. Shame, if I could get it for under £10 then I'd buy it and do the save transfer so it would look much prettier.
