Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

@flamespear86

It was basically pointless for me to buy Halo Infinite physically. But they can still be resold, traded, regifted et cetera because the disk isn't associated with your account. So it still has one of the major advantages of physical media. I can still get used Xbox or PlayStation games for cheap.

If I understand correctly you can't do that with key cards.

actually that's not the case, Game Key Cards can be resold and traded because it's the same as those XBOX discs, the card basically acts as the licence and isn't tied to you account, i think you might be confusing them with Virtual Game Cards and i get that the names are very similar although you can Lend virtual games to members of your Nintendo Account family group for up to 14 days

Re: Nintendo Is "Acting To Protect The Industry" With Switch 2 Game Key Cards, Says Ex-Capcom Composer

look i get it Game Key Cards ain't ideal especially when companies do it just to cheap out when there is an option to fit it on a cart but what i don't get is WHY it's suddenly a problem as XBOX has been doing the exact same thing with their physical releases since the Series X launched and no one bats an eyelid

whenever you put a XBOX game in a Series X that "update" it's downloading isn't an update, it's the actual game all that's on the disc is the installer the same as a game key card the only difference is Nintendo isn't hiding it like XBOX are

now of course i also understand the "what happens when the stores are shut down" argument and the games can no longer be downloaded and that's a whole other discussion but at least you will still be able to play the games installed on your system with the card as it wouldn't need to connect online to check the license

yes there are lots of issues that need sorting out but i still think GKC are a step in the right direction for the transfer and use of digital content and everything has to start somewhere and this could lead to better options down the road

And honestly i would rather have a game key card than a code in the box

Re: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Calls For Industry-Wide Support Of Game Preservation Via Emulation

FullbringIchigo

Legal emulators are a good option but do You know what else helps, physical releases and backwards compatibility, something publishers are trying to push us away from

Also how about console re-releases say on a certain anniversaries releasing a console again for a limited time say that entire year but with just with a few updates like better compatibility with current TV's

Re: Random: Uh-Oh, Nintendo's Switch Online 'Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer' Is Generating A Lot Of Dislikes

FullbringIchigo

@WhiteUmbrella well i never said anything about the age or quality of the games all i said was both do the same thing, pay a sub and play games

But i also mentioned PS+ which is still more expensive per year than this is

Also lets go back to the 360 where you payed £40 a year just to play online

The point i was trying to make is people have paid more for less or similar

Re: A New Doctor Who Game Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

FullbringIchigo

If they had any sense they wouldn't just focus on the current Doctor but have multiple playable Doctors in this game not only would it make for a interesting story but it would also appeal to a larger audience

Plus it would allow different game play elements as each Doctor had their iwn strengths

Re: Gamevice Is Back With New Patent-Infringement Complaint Against Nintendo, Wants To Block US Switch Sales

FullbringIchigo

@Incarta no you're absolutely right they are within their rights to do it if Nintendo are infringing copyright the thing is Nintendo aint infringing copyright, Nintendos Joy Con is a propitiatory device only designed to work on the Switch where as Gamevices device is a add on for a mobile phone, the only thing the have in common is that they snap onto something else

plus they already lost the case once so it's futile to try again

Re: Buying BioShock, Borderlands Or XCOM Physically? Expect Huge Download Requirements

FullbringIchigo

@ThanosReXXX that was my point, with cartridge being more expensive it's more likely that publishers will "cheap out" and go for whatever is cheapest which in this case is going for the cheapest versions and putting the rest as a download

and i agree people buy physical for a reason, for me as a gamer and a collector i buy physical to not only have a collection BUT to also have a product i can see and touch

not to mention legacy, i know in the future a physical copy of a game i don't have but might want will still be around but that can't be said for a digital one, once it's taken off the storefronts it's gone for good

now i get digital has it's pluses (although mostly i just hear "it's so convenient not having to get up and swap a disc" which just strikes me as laziness) but to me it will always be physical over digital

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl #34 - Perfect Dark

FullbringIchigo

the EU one, the American one is almost as good but i think the EU one packs more of a punch

but the Japanese one doesn't feel right for the game, it's a good box art but it feels more like a survival horror game not a FPS

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Approves Of People Uploading Gameplay Videos

FullbringIchigo

@OorWullie same here, i never have understood it and i probably never will

i also have a similar story with my niece, i was playing a game that i got a little late and my brother was round my house with his kids and while i was playing she started to say how she had already seen this on youtube and she was about to blert out what was going to happen when i said to her that if she said one more word about it then she would never be allowed to speak in my house again

she soon shut up and hasn't done it since
