Bandai Namco has lifted the lid on Jump Force Deluxe Edition's Nintendo Switch release date, confirming that it'll be in our hands from 28th August.
The news comes alongside a brand new trailer, which you can check out for yourself above. The game contains more than 50 playable characters including stars from the likes of Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, Naruto, One Piece, and Yu-Gi-Oh!.
JUMP FORCE Deluxe Edition features all of the hugely popular characters from the game’s 2019 release, as well as all previously released DLC characters from the Season 1 Characters Pass. With 16 Weekly Shonen Jump franchises gathering a roster of more than 50 playable characters, fans can now take their favourite fighter to the battlefield wherever they want!
Play against friends and foes through both offline and online battles. A new offline 3 vs. 3 mode is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of JUMP FORCE Deluxe Edition, enabling six friends to each control a character and battle it out together. In this mode, each player controls a character on their team of three and will enter the fight when their character is tagged into the battle. Strategic thinking and knowing when to tag players in and out of the battle will be key to winning the fight.

I know this game is average, but the special moves are really flashy and having a few bouts on the go is appealing, but will definitely wait for a hefty price cut!
Yeah, I remember this being average as well according to the reviews (push square?) & from thoughts from fellow gamers I know.
Thing is, I'm most likely going to be a sucker and get it for the fan service even though that is a bit poorly done in itself (apparently)!
I'll buy it. I personally enjoyed this game on another system, but Doom 2016 and even Kirby Star Allies has made me adapt to low framerates.
Can't wait for this to go on sale. That being said though, i miss the days when fighting games were released with full rosters without any characters locked behind a paywall. Maybe I'm just old.
I recall this game being more fun to make fun of, than to actually play it.

I just played this on Xbox Game Pass the other day... it was pretty bad. Sorta felt like an MMO but without any of the appeal. The Switch already has far better games for anime fans.
Does anyone actually played this game and could give an opinion?
I liked Dragon Ball FighterZ but didn't like the Xenoverse style so, from what I can see, Jump Force reminds me more the latter.
This will be day one purchase for me and my kids. Very excited for this. Own the main game & DLC on PS4 already but this game will get played so much more once it’s on my Switch.
I'm gonna jump the gun and go ahead and pick this up when it arrives even though this game is at best a 5/7 because I'm a sucker for smash smash smash
I really REALLY wanted to enjoy this. I like mindless, dumb games from time to time but it's SO boring to play the battles.
@Cool_Squirtle Those old fighting games you are reminiscing about from the 90s with "full" rosters had far less total characters than fighting games do today. Plus we had to buy each update separately - SFII, SFII Champion Edition, SFII Turbo, Super SFII, Super SFII Turbo... plus Ultimate MK3 and MK Trilogy are updates to Mortal Kombat 3... you had to buy characters you already owned multiple times just to play as the new characters. So I'd rather not return to those days.
Ohhh this a game i need! Played it at my brothers house.
Cant wait to play it on the switch.
@Bass_X0
At least you weren’t nickel and dimed to death with dlc. SF Alpha 3 Upper and Marvel vs Capcom 2 are prime examples of rosters done right.
Just an average game that could have been so much better.
@GameOtaku Those games are the final seasons of their respective games. Buying either of them is like buying SFV Champion Edition today.
Yknow, when we said we wanted a Jojo game on switch this is NOT what anyone wanted...
@tourjeff
Combo system is broken, anyone can escape at any time no matter how skilled you are. The story mode might as well be called "Character models standing still and occasionally doing something that resembles animation". The graphics look cool at first, but end up being an ugly eyesore an hour in. But hey, that's just me.
@PBandSmelly Yeah the fighting is super shallow and the story is ridiculous in a bad way, it's just not a good game.
Cant wait to play this 60 Metacritic Fighting Game of the Year nominee!
@Bass_X0
Not really. SF A was different from SF A 2 and 3. Same with MvC. Power Rangers BFTG is on what it’s third season of dlc?! For $15 you can get 3 additional characters so for $45 you get 9 characters when the base game sells for around $30 digital $50 physical?
I wonder how they could butcher this up. The DS games were pretty good. Maybe they should stick to that style again.
@Bass_X0 I was thinking mostly of the 2000's, and honestly it depends on the game/franchise. Tekken 1-4, soul calibur 1-3, melty blood, guilty gear xx, and most anime fighters from those days generally didn't have dlc that I can recall and if they did it was like two bonus characters. now it's insane. There should never be several dlc packs of characters for any game IMO, and that's what every single fighting game on the market today does mixed in with season passes.
To be fair each of the six sf alpha/3 games were different from their previous incarnations. (stages, sprites, characters, balancing)
Just bring over eyes of heaven or all star battle!
@PBandSmelly There are some characters I wish I'd never seen in that game... What have they done to you Toguro....
@Smashfan508 The Switch has:
-One Piece: Unlimited World Red Deluxe
-One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 and 4 (two different games)
-Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 1, 2, 3, and 4 (Switch has all 4)
-Attack on Titan 2 (I personally like this one the most)
-Re: Zero Starting Life in a new world (another Re: Zero game is launching for Switch as well)
-A Hyperdimension Neptunia game (forgot the title but its there)
-Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
-Dragon Ball FighterZ
-Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization
-Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet
-God Eater 2
-My Hero: One's Justice
-My Hero: One's Justice 2
-Akame Ga Kill Game (forgot the title but its there)
-Jump Force
.... And of course, that's not even counting the games that were made with an "Anime" influence. Like Forgotton Anne, or Blazblue Cross Tag Battle.
They are using the word "deluxe" rather loosely for a game that's based around button mashing.
Bad game, bad graphics,bad story mode, bad rodster (Gameplay based on team of 3 but many anime has only 1 or 2 chars... What's the point???) , almost unplayable, every match is a mess...
Hmm I'll see what the reviews for the Switch version say. I heard this game is just average though.... if it turns out to be good enough and support local wireless play then I'll pick up 2 copies.
@Smashfan508
I’d argue that as the series grew so did the rosters. I find the season pass dlc situation very anti consumer and lazy on the part of devs and publishers. A game with 6 base characters and 20 paid dlc characters is ridiculous but it could (and probably has) happened.
I'm a huge fan of the Dissidia games and this looks right up my alley. How disappointed will I be?
Can't wait to see what Frieza ascending looks like at 480p lmao
As long as they fix the glitches and framerates then I'm good, a game with over 50 playable fighters is hard to pass so I'll wait for the review. If it turn out decent I may pick it up, if not I'll wait for a sale.
Man I remember when there was some serious hype for this game and then it came out and everyone went meh lmao
You can use Dio and ROAD ROLLER DA on it, might be worth it for just that.
I’m still scarred by how awkward the running animation was and how much the game made me see it.
why have they decided to port this garbage game instead of another tales or code vein is beyond me
bandai doesn't like money it seems
Yeeeeah, they might've missed the boat on that one. Should've just not been dumb & announced & released it with the other versions. I remember having my interest fairly piqued when they first announced it, but seemed like a game that I"d rather have had on the Switch. So when there was no announcement I thought to myself maybe later I'd get it for one of my other systems, but I kind of just forgot about it. Well, they played themselves out of 60 or more of my dollars and I'm glad they did. Since it was almost assuredly an Impulse instabuy and possible day one for me on the Switch.
Now though they've given me (and I'm sure many others) a LOT of time to see just how absolutely mediocre it was. Had they released the game day and date (or heck even a month or so later) I'm pretty sure they would have gotten a lot more Switch owners like myself to bite. So any missed money are on them as again, that missed boat might have been missed.
JOTARO AND DIOOOOOOOOO
WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
If I like playing a fighting game, I'm going to be wanting more content to play as for that fighting game. Why would I want to play as a different fighting game that I enjoy less?
@RPGamer dang it, I thought I was sounding smart...
@tourjeff did you ever play One Piece Burning Blood because it's basically a reskin of that, the One Piece characters even use the same animations for all their attacks
It's a pretty basic arena brawler but can be fun playing with friends
@tourjeff Can't believe you like DBZ and not Xenoverse, well part 2 is way better, anyhow jump force is not that good in comparison, all flash no glory, it has some neat fan service but that is it, personally I would consider Xenoverse 2 again you won't find anything better in the realm of DBZ unless you like Kakarot as well =:3
no one cares this game sucks
I heard this game was really bad on PS4.
Oh look, the port that was announced to be "UP TO" 30FPS, so...yeah if that's the performance that they are aiming for, this will flop imo.
@Smashfan508
It’s anti consumer when you spend more than the base game price for additional characters that could’ve been included as unlockables. Blaz Blue cross tag is a perfect example along with PR BFTG of dlc done wrong.
@Bass_X0 That's actually a really solid point I hadn't thought of. I remember having Street Fighter 2 on the SNES and then having to buy SUPER Street Fighter 2 for 8 more characters at full price. Fighter Pass might be the one time that DLC isn't a rip off.
I've said for years that with FIFA updates and some Madden, they should just do a $20 season pass and update the old game as the season goes along.
@Smashfan508
But companies would’ve included them, just look at the ultimate edition of games like mortal Kombat xl. Instead though they opted for dlc which ends up costing more than the base game. Smash has dlc done right. It’s roster is huge even without dlc and it’s price for its content is decent.
If a game can’t stand on its own without dlc then something is wrong.
@SoIDecidedTo
Super is a far different game than vanilla sf2. New tweaks to the gameplay like the super gauge and character nerfs and buffs as well as new characters. So that’s not really a good comparison.
@Smashfan508
You are so wrong. Once companies started paid dlc it became a slippery slope so now many devs use it as an excuse to cut content and then sell you piecemeal the whole game with dlc. Smash is a game that stands on its own without dlc with its diverse base roster and game modes. On the flip side however is Battle for the Grid which is a 3v3 fighting game with a extremely small base roster with the game itself only costing around $30 or less when on sale with dlc packs of 3 characters each costing around $15 apiece. If you can take away the dlc and still have a enjoyable experience then it’s done right.
No the games are quite different. You don’t say Mario 3 is the same as Mario 1 nor do you say the (US) Mario 2 is the same as either. Ask any SF player and they will tell you it’s 2 completely different games.
@Smashfan508
Characters in SSF2 control way differently than sf2. In competition they use almost every iteration of the game because mechanics, nerfs and buffs are different. If you can’t see the way most dlc is handled nowadays as being no more than a cash grab then that’s on you. If a game is enjoyable on its own without dlc then it’s done correctly. The devs that overuse dlc to keep padding their pockets like a free to play game have ruined the reps of others.
Content is important. They must have enough included in the base game to warrant a purchase. Instead I’ve seen games with little content being sold only to hit you with “optional” dlc to bring the game to an enjoyable level. I hate to keep bringing it up but BFTG has such potential with over 20 seasons of characters to include we only got a base roster of 9 characters with dlc to bulk it up. Cross tag battle allows you to fight the “optional” dlc characters but to unlock them you have to buy them as opposed to just unlocking them through gameplay so the content is included already in the game but you are forced to buy (Yumi who was added in recently has had her data in the game from the start according to data miners who found the announcer voice for her). Gal Gun has cosmetic dlc so it’s completely optional and doesn’t affect gameplay. BOTW has optional dlc but the game itself is so massive with lots to do the dlc is perfect. There was a time when you could simply unlock additional content through the game without paying more as well as not having to be patched every week. Devs should strive for that instead.
@Smashfan508
Your last reply was utter nonsense. You honestly will pay more than the base price of a game for dlc? Let me make myself abundantly clear OVERUSE of dlc is what is wrong with modern games. If a game is lacking in content right out of the gate and they start day one with dlc season packs as so many do just to fluff it out (which I should say they could’ve included in the base game but rather sell it piecemeal). You have completely misread my entire statements. I don’t think ALL dlc is bad, but the ones that are leave a sour enough taste to soil the rest. I’d rather wait longer for a game and unlock content through the game rather than pay more for content than the game cost!
Which game exactly have you been playing that hasn’t needed updates or patches? Really I want to know because every single switch game I own had to be updated at least once. I guess quality assurance isn’t on a lot of devs minds since they can always update or patch later and add in additional content for more money.
@Smashfan508
It surely seems that nearly every game in recent years (since ps3/360 era) that devs have been slipping imho. Now that can just patch games and add content in for a additional cost. Blaz Blu cross tag battles dlc characters are available to fight in game but to use them you have to purchase them as dlc so the content is in the game and they planned it from the start to milk consumers.
As a consumer we should be able to get what we paid for. A new switch game is usually around $50-60 not counting tax. So naturally if I start to play and the content is lacking but they offer paid dlc to keep the money coming in. Well excuse me I just supported them by buying their game and now to get a decent experience I need to pay more?! I can understand this practice in mobile free to play games which are the modern equivalent of arcade quarter munchers. But for full console games to do the same is ludicrous.
What really needs to happen is to stop consoles from connecting to the internet and force devs to go back to how games were made before so they can’t patch games and you get exactly what you pay for. That’s all folks I’ve had enough. Good night.
@Smashfan508
Thanks. I get passionate about gaming and want the best possible experience for everyone and the current state of gaming is anything but. If I came off as bullheaded it’s because I am, it’s in my nature. I apologize if you thought I had a vendetta.
@Smashfan508
No I didn’t see the Ps5 presentation. Outside of my ps2, psp and vita I’ve pretty much abandoned Sony and their tyrannical censorship. Something interesting?
