Re: Talking Point: Will You Be Buying Any Game-Key Card Switch 2 Games?

FourBs

I'm not bothered by it, I'd sooner these rather than digital codes. At least these keep a second hand market for the games, it may not be ideal for those wanting the whole game on cartridge, I've come to terms with the fact that the optimal experience is rarely what you first purchase with games these days .

Re: UK Retailer GAME Is Selling Off Goods And Fixtures As Head Office Shuts Down

@SMJ I worked for Gamestation when Game Stores Group took over, and they were an absolute joke. Killed our Navision software for some archaic system they had and put all the staff on KPI's, gutted our thriving retro business and narrow the £10 gap we had between a new release versus pre-owned. It wasn't until later where I learnt that they'd told the managers to 'change the person, or change the person' for those of us who weren't willing to force warranties and bundles on customers.
I'd say that this must be after your time, but my boss at GS worked for Silica when EB/Game took them over and predicted exactly what was about to happen to us on the day Game took over, that's before we even get into stripping any sales assistant of 40 hours contracts of 50/50 permanent/ flexi hours.
Good times.

Re: Japanese Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles X Arrives In Style And Sends Monster Hunter Packing

Whenever I look at the sales figures for hardware, it always looks like Nintendo have worked hard for those numbers, but Sony seem to have effortlessly sold nearly as many PS5 consoles as they did PS4's in Japan, considering one is almost 12 years old and the other 5, it wouldn't surprise me if the PS5 gets a late wind in Japan - God knows why, but that's just what I think could happen

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Party Jamboree Ends Dragon Quest III's Reign

Those PS5 sales are really quite terrible.
Trouble is now, once the PS6 comes along, it’s going to be a hard sell to the Japanese since I can imagine it’ll only be a ‘half gen’ up from the PS5 Pro, which doesn’t look like it’s set the fire in that region….. Unless they copy Nintendo’s homework with a hybrid, which I can see happening.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Surpasses 6 Million Units Sold

I thought the PS5 sales of over 5 million seemed reasonably impressive since they've hardly put any effort into trying to sell the things in Japan but casting our minds back to the late 1990's and Sega managed to shift about that many if not more Sega Saturns in Japan and that console was seen as a failure plus the video game market wasn't as potentially large as it is today either!

Re: Reaction: A Direct That Delivered, And Shows That Switch Still Has Plenty Of Pep

I'm just here for the reactions, I dig that people rated this for what it was, a great all round Direct. Sure there's a few games in there that don't appeal to me, but it's excellent to see so much support this late into the Switch's lifecycle.
I do chuckle at those moaning about it - I really think sometimes, games companies just can't win. There was something for everyone here, even if it was just one of the games on show.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart Zooms Onto The Podium, But It Can't Overtake Stellar Blade

@johnvboy I agree, but Sony are claiming it to be selling really well and tracking near to, if not above PS4 sales for the same sort of time period which I simply can't see how. It doesn't sell in Japan, we know that much so those numbers must be coming from the rest of the world where I guess it's somehow more popular than the PS4 in it's peak in those regions?
Whatever the reasons and figures behind the actual sales, I struggle to find a standout reason to own either a PS5 or XBSX... And that's coming from someone who did actually buy a PS5!

@Anti-Matter You just seem to be here every week saying the PS5 figures aren't that bad yet they're dropping to incredible lows week by week. I get you're a bit blinded by the prospect of buying one, but let's not kid around, second place in this race isn't even out of the starting gate.
Sony are pretty lucky that they've managed to shift 55 million of these things in other regions in the World, to myself included . This is a fairly dire generation of consoles, Nintendo aside.
What 3rd party kids games does the PS5 even have that you can't get on the PS4, are there even any differences for the price you're about to pay out for one?

Re: Sonic Prime Season 1 Is Apparently Getting A Blu-ray Release In 2024

FourBs

I wonder if there is a market for streaming sites to do what companies like Limited Run do, make a small timed batch of physical discs for say, £/$10 each for those wanting to properly own the movie / series.
Sounds mental on the outset of things but I had a free Amazon Prime trial and watched a couple of movies on there that I would sit down and watch on DVD or Blu Ray again without having to pay per month, our Internet plays up sometimes too so having DVDs and Blu Ray is quite a handy solution.... The more I type, the more I'm thinking I'm very much in the minority so put this down to thinking a-loud

Re: Internal Xbox Email Details Desire To Acquire Nintendo

FourBs

@sanderev I've got to admit, I can't understand why Microsoft continue this quest to fight Sony. The only time they ever got close to a win was the Xbox 360 and really, that was as much to do with Sony dropping the ball in the beginnings of the PS3's life as it did Microsoft having good all round hardware.
It just seems to me that Microsoft have lost more than they've gained from 2002 to today, and this is coming from someone who favours their consoles over Playstation.

I think if Apple can gain ground with their seriousness of making the iPhone 15 a gaming viable platform and build on that then you could very well be right.

Re: Internal Xbox Email Details Desire To Acquire Nintendo

FourBs

They couldn't even land Sega, what makes them think that they'll be able to rope Nintendo?!

Also, 'it's taking a long time for Nintendo to realise their future is not on their own hardware' ... Sounds a lot like what Microsoft's future holds considering they've already put properties they own on Nintendo hardware before, I can't see Nintendo returning that favour.

Re: Activision CEO Made 'A Bad Judgement' In Not Supporting The Nintendo Switch More

FourBs

I did my bit back in the day.I purchased both the Wii U titles on release day, even though I wasn't that interested in them. I just wanted the Wii U to be a viable platform for 3rd party stuff, I guess looking at COD sales on all machines from Gamecube upwards probably doesn't even equal the sales of one core entry on Xbox or PlayStation so I guess I can understand their reservations.

That being said, having the Wii releases remastered in HD in one collection would be nice...
