I’ll just keep mine trapped in it’s 3ds prison. Party because I won’t be able to afford a switch 2 this year, and party because both bravely default and bravely second look gorgeous in 3-d even at a low resolution. And I own both games physically.
@BongoBongo Oops, yep you’re right. Just now saw that. Aww too bad, I got excited for Dlc for the main game. All well, I’m happy for the people who have Dig. My recommendation still stands. Get Shovel Knight Treasure Trove on 3ds right now if you have one.
Just to point out to anyone wanting to give this game a try, and also looking to add to your 3ds collection before the closure, it’s on sale in the 3ds eshop. It obviously won’t get the new dlc. Fortunately I have it on both 3ds and switch. 3ds is my favorite console to play it on. I play it with 3d turned all the way up, and it looks glorious.
I have it both on Switch and Ps4. It looks absolutely stunning on PS4, however now that I have it on Switch, I’ll be much more likely to finish it since I do about 90% of my gaming handheld on Switch. There is some significant downscaling to the resolution on Switch, but the art style makes up for it. It’s kind of just like playing a slightly older game that has aged very well. It’s still a very lovely and fun game to play. If you sit in front of your PS4 and TV a lot, I recommend PS4 version. But if you’re like me, and are more likely to put the necessary hours for it in handheld mode on Switch, then get it on Switch.
Mega Man V please. I don’t care about the other four. Super Mario land 2, Tetris 2, every Legend of Zelda, Balloon Kid and I really want to try The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls.
Are you guys referring to the pico 8 Celeste 2, or an actual sequel that’s like the one on Switch and Steam? If that’s not a real thing, I now want it to be. I think that could be the only indie announcement that could possibly get me more excited than Silksong. Now I’m going to be twice disappointed tomorrow.
Well, I didn’t exactly go bonkers over it. But now that I’m reminded, I did actually rewind this scene a couple times just to try to make sense of what was happening.
Heck yeah! Don’t care about you port whiners! This game is one of my favorites, and I’d be glad to play it again on my Switch. Again and again! I’m glad the rumors were true. I just hope Pikmin 4 is still on the way eventually.
@Falien It’s also the case in Pokemon Sword and Shield. The game recognized my custom purple joycons and matched them to my character’s pretend switch in the game. I was hoping that would happen with AC. But not so far, I guess.
@Filbert_Wang Yes, I know First Contact is the best. I didn’t say Nemesis was my favorite. It’s not even my second favorite. Just that before watching Picard, it fills you in on what happens to an important character.
The Best of both worlds part1&2 Family I-Borg Descent part1&2
Those are my most recommended to watch before Picard. I also recommend most of the movies if you haven’t seen them, already. If you only have time for one, at least watch Nemesis.
@Incoherent1 If controls allow gamepad only, why wouldn’t you be able to play docked with either the pro controller or joycons? It’s not like you need touch screen controls. I’ve played every Pikmin game with every control scheme available. Some are better than others, but all work just fine. Pikmin 3 could play just fine with just a traditional type of controller.
@BulbasaurusRex I guess you’re not much of a media preservationists then? Imagine if all the movies from our childhood were left on a limited number of vhs tapes, and then when those degrade there’re gone for good. I’m not recommending pirating movies or games. But putting media you already own in another format is not only legal, but probably the only way many of these games will ever be seen when those old carts don’t work anymore.
@fafonio @fafonio I’ve considered doing that just to have Mickey Mania. You can’t even buy that one on Steam. I would if I could. I do own the original cart, but I dont always feel like digging out my old Nomad to play it. The only thing I worry about is infecting my computer by downloading sketchy software.
Shield. It was going to be Sword at first. I like the look of the sword wolf better. But that cotton candy Ponyta I’m a sucker for. It might just make up for not getting to have Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite. Maybe.
I never understood why they based their decision to continue making a new Chibi game on how well Zip lash did. I’m sure some people liked Zip lash, and that’s fine. But I didn’t, and I take issue with them thinking that this was a failure of people embracing the character, not their own failure of placing him in a game that’s interesting. If they wanted Chibi to be successful, then they should have made it a true successor to the Gamecube game. Zip lash was nothing like that. Can you imagine the outrage of Pikmin fans if Miyamoto decided that Pikmin 4 would only be considered for development based on the success of Hey Pikmin?
@Dodger The 8bitdo SN30 (classic SNES) does work with Mario Maker, but without ZR/ZL buttons, you have to start the game with a different controller first. It also works with any platformer that doesn’t require joysticks to control. Only problem is you can’t get the classic versions from 8bitdo anymore. I can’t even find them online, and I’ve been looking for the colorful European/Japanese version to go with the purple US version I already own. I’ve long suspected a patent conflict with Nintendo plannning on releasing their own, eventually. Looks like that’s confirmed now. I only hope it’s not sold in an expensive 2 pack, they’re not charged on Switch rails, and that they don’t only work on Nintendo online classic games. It would also be nice if they could work on the SNES classic. 8bitdo works on SNES classic with an adapter.
@Shinobi1Kenoby Even if any of that were true, I’d still rather spend my day with just about any 10 year old on this planet than waste one more minute interacting with anyone as arrogant and negative as you. Good day, sir!
Also, I think it’s funny that some people keep insisting that the problem is caused by abuse and not through normal use. Is abuse defined as buying Nintendo made games like Splatoon and Smash bros. and then playing them? To me that sounds like we’re using Nintendo hardware the way they intend us to. So, in other words, normal use. I take very good care my electronics and accessories. I know joycons are more delicate than other controllers, but they still should be designed to play the same Nintendo games. That’s the point of having a Switch.
I said this in another article, but it seems more relevant here. I had the drift happen to my favorite set of joycons. When I did a calibration test, it even showed the direction and amount of drift happening. So I swapped the stick out from another spare set that I had, and when I also installed the defective stick back in the other set... the drift was completely gone on from both joycons. I’ve used it quite a few times just to make sure, and did a calibration test, and it shows it snapping back in place on every direction. The drift is gone just from taking it out and putting back in a different joycon. I don’t know why, and maybe the reason for mine is different, but maybe some of them just get misaligned or partly disconnected through use. I’m thinking misaligned may be more likely. I don’t know, I’m not an electronics expert. But it doesn’t seem to be the issue explained in the video, as far as I know.
@Shinobi1Kenoby The self congratulation obviously referring to the superior high horse you clearly sit on, while condemning everyone younger than you for being self absorbed. So I guess it’s the moody self conscious gen x angst I mistook for crabby old boomer. See how easily confirmation bias works? So what, you think no boomers or x-ers are using social media or other platforms to brag about themselves, their families, their vacations, their educational attainment, or their homes? But I guess you must not have noticed. Confirmation bias works by paying attention selectively after all. 1999? Really, you’re gonna go that specific. Just as I said. Arbitrary.
@AlexSwitch10 Yeah me too, except I only had one go out on me. Odd thing is, when I swapped the offending stick with another joycon, it started working just fine in the other joycon that I swapped with. I think maybe some of them might just get their ribbon cable worked lose somehow? I was playing alot of Smash before it happened. I have a few extra joysticks on hand now either way, so I’ll be ready. I’m not sure Nintendo would honor the offer with non- Nintendo shells and a voided warranty.
@Shinobi1Kenoby Quit the self congratulatory self back patting. It seems hypocritical. Anyway the greatest generation probably said the same exact words about you lazy hippie baby boomers. From my point of view, generational divides are imaginary lines that are drawn arbitrarily.
What was that old man implying when he said it would have been a girl if he lost the game? That only girls lose games? Or you lose if you have a girl? Either way, pretty crappy old man joke in front of a bunch of little girls.
@SwitchForce You mean bluetooth? And yeah they do. At least the older ones. The only thing I needed a dongle for was for connecting one to my snes mini. They connect to switch both docked and handheld without one.
The last Legend of Zelda figma that I remember them making was for Skyward Sword. He looks pretty similar to Link from BotW, but it would have been cool to have a version for BotW, with accessories from the game. Nenderoid did a BotW Link, and it was cute, but not what I wanted. The only nenderoid I bought was the Wind Waker Link, because his proportions were already like that.
@Phantom107 It’s not likely they would care. I had the same problem on one joycon and also the circle pad on my first 3ds. Fortunately the parts themselves are incredibly cheap on ebay. You just have to be willing to open your joycon or console to swap it out. Both work fine now.
@JohnQuixote Yeah I only tried the Pro controller once with this, but quickly switched to 8bitdo while docked. I mostly played in handheld, though and switched back and forth between my d-pad and thumbstick. The d-pad was best for any linear movements, but for me the curvy movements in the feather parts were only playable with the thumbstick. I can’t wait for the extra content.
Already have the homespot bluetooth adapter that I can use my wireless headphones both docked and handheld. No need for any wires anywhere. Really, considering that Switch doesn’t have bluetooth support for audio, that $80 pro controller should have had that audio jack from the very start. Now we get one that’s wired? No thanks. I looked for other options and found them.
I like that you can design the vehicles and machines. But man, those worlds sure look empty. At least lego worlds was densely packed full of stuff to see and discover.
Still haven’t finished Azran Legacy. I’d like to play any of them again on Switch, though, if they aren’t too expensive. I’d get both. I haven’t played the Katrielle one at all, and it’s been so long since the first one came out, many of the puzzles will probably seem new.
@Muddy_4_Ever Spirted away is good, but Princess Mononoke always made me a little depressed. I like almost all the Miyazaki movies, though. They’re so rich in beauty and detail, including Ponyo. I see why Ponyo appeals mainly to children, though. My neighbor Totoro will always be my favorite.
Has to be a record for how quickly a direct got me grinning like a crazy person. Mario Maker on Switch! It’s a sequel! With more stuff! Way more stuff!! With slopes!!! Aww, Nintendo, you do listen.
@SmaggTheSmug Nice to know I’m not the only one who fantasized about insect games as a kid. I love exploration games of macro worlds at micro scales. The Pikmin series is my favorite. I also like Chibi Robo on gamecube. This bee game looks really neat, too. Many people seem to be keeping a closed mind about this. It’s too bad. To me it looks amazing.
@flightsaber
Pikmin 3
Super Mario maker
Starfox zero ( will never be ported because the controls require separate screens)
And in the eshop Affordable Space Adventures ( a really fun indie which could also never be played on anything else)
If you don’t have a Wii then
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
and Pikmin 1&2
Mario Galaxy 1&2
When I was in line at a Gamestop getting my copy of Smash, a guy in front of me was selling his Zelda WiiU. I wanted to tell him he was making a terrible mistake, but it was none of my business. He was probably trading it in for his kids to get them a Switch for Christmas. But apart from a few ports that come to Switch, WiiU has a whole library of Nintendo games that will never be played on any other console. It doubles as a Wii, and has a pretty extensive virtual console that Switch may never get. I’m never getting rid of mine.
@MeloMan It’s not just the difficulty that makes it a praiseworthy game. It’s true that even on the side A levels, it’s pretty challenging all the way through, but never feels punishing. It never makes you feel cheated. It's like every mistake you make (and you will make many) presents you with an opportunity to learn something new. Mistakes aren’t punished harshly, like in many difficult games, so you feel motivated to keep trying until you get it. Besides all of that, this is a really beautiful game. The story, the visuals and the music are all well worthy of awards. But to really understand why, they really need to be experienced in context with one another.
@FlimFlam I can’t imagine anyone buying a used Switch over a new one just to save such a small amount. That’s incredible. Nobody takes good care of their handheld screens, either. If you can afford $290 for your console, why not pay the little bit extra for one that no other person put their grubby hands on? Gamestop used to be much better. I don’t sell to them anymore. They buy used stuff for pennies and then have rows of used games for 90% the cost of new games. Unless you buy something old, it isn’t worth it. I have a feeling they won’t last.
One thing I still have yet to see in the entire lifespan of the Switch is one single used Switch for sale at a Gamestop. I mean I’m sure, like anything else you’ll find some on ebay, or can order from the store website. But at a regular brick and mortar used game store, where I’ve seen every other console sold used, I haven’t seen any Switches. All other consoles, whether low or high sellers have been pretty easy to find used in a game store by the end of the first year. DS’s could be found at used game stores by the dozens by the end of it’s first year. I’m not saying everyone who buys a Switch keeps it for good. It just seems like a lot more people must be hanging on to them compared to other consoles.
@Korosanbo Wait, there’s a whole collection on PS3 now? I thought it was just the first one? Does it include We love Katamari? I would love to be able to download that one, since my PS2 doesn’t work anymore. I would rather it come to Switch, but chances seem pretty high we’ll only get the first one. Still, I never imagined I’d get any Katamari on a Nintendo, and I love these games. Day one for me. I probably won’t even need to get the demo.
For those who keep saying they only “own” their game if it’s a physical cart, I guess I don’t own all the games on my micro sd card and any backups I’ve made? As long as I own a working Switch, I will be able to play any and all games that I have purchased digitally. I don’t have the same confidence with the physical carts. A cart can get lost, or even just stop working. You have to buy a new one. If it’s gone from the digital stores, say 15 years from now, it’s gone. Something could happen to every one of my backups, too, though far less likely. Life is uncertain. Just buy the games you want to play, and enjoy them now.
If it had access to the entire Switch library, maybe. But even then I wouldn’t want it, because guess what? I already have a Switch, and I didn’t pay $1000 for it. I wouldn’t want a phone the size of a tablet, either. Even if it does have a great processor and battery life. I don’t even like plus size phones, but that thing is huge. I would really like to have Netflix on my Switch, though. Hulu is already on it, and no one seems to think it’s a problem anymore. Other than that small, very reasonable wish, I’m perfectly fine with my phone and primary gaming device being two separate things.

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
and Pikmin 1&2
Mario Galaxy 1&2
Those are the most important ones for me.
Re: Looking For A Brand New Wii U? That'll Be $800 Please
Re: Indie Hit Celeste Sold Over 500,000 Copies In 2018
@MeloMan It’s not just the difficulty that makes it a praiseworthy game.
Re: Nintendo Switch Becomes The Fastest-Selling Console Of This Generation In The US
@FlimFlam I can’t imagine anyone buying a used Switch over a new one just to save such a small amount.
Re: Nintendo Switch Becomes The Fastest-Selling Console Of This Generation In The US
One thing I still have yet to see in the entire lifespan of the Switch is one single used Switch for sale at a Gamestop.
Re: Reminder: Katamari Damacy Reroll Is Out Now On Nintendo Switch
@ROBLOGNICK
It just takes a bit of procedural memory to learn how to maneuver efficiently in the game. Like learning to ride bicycle.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 8th)
Didn’t make myself choose between Katamari and Smash. I got both, and now they get to take turns making me smile.
Re: Katamari Damacy Reroll Demo Arrives On 7th December
@Korosanbo Wait, there’s a whole collection on PS3 now? I thought it was just the first one? Does it include We love Katamari? I would love to be able to download that one, since my PS2 doesn’t work anymore. I would rather it come to Switch, but chances seem pretty high we’ll only get the first one. Still, I never imagined I’d get any Katamari on a Nintendo, and I love these games. Day one for me. I probably won’t even need to get the demo.
Re: Team Cherry Has Cancelled The Physical Version Of Hollow Knight
For those who keep saying they only “own” their game if it’s a physical cart, I guess I don’t own all the games on my micro sd card and any backups I’ve made? As long as I own a working Switch, I will be able to play any and all games that I have purchased digitally. I don’t have the same confidence with the physical carts. A cart can get lost, or even just stop working. You have to buy a new one. If it’s gone from the digital stores, say 15 years from now, it’s gone. Something could happen to every one of my backups, too, though far less likely. Life is uncertain. Just buy the games you want to play, and enjoy them now.
Re: Celeste Creator Teases Work In Progress
But I want all of those things. Can’t we just have all if them?
Re: Video: Huawei Claim their Phone is Better than Nintendo Switch
If it had access to the entire Switch library, maybe. But even then I wouldn’t want it, because guess what? I already have a Switch, and I didn’t pay $1000 for it. I wouldn’t want a phone the size of a tablet, either. Even if it does have a great processor and battery life. I don’t even like plus size phones, but that thing is huge. I would really like to have Netflix on my Switch, though. Hulu is already on it, and no one seems to think it’s a problem anymore. Other than that small, very reasonable wish, I’m perfectly fine with my phone and primary gaming device being two separate things.
