The Switch eShop has secured another 'console first' release, with Bulbware's Bulb Boy heading to the platform this Summer. Previously released to critical acclaim on PC and smart devices, it'll arrive on Nintendo's console a couple of months ahead of other platforms.
It looks like an utterly intriguing, surreal title, adopting puzzle elements with horror. You can see the trailer and press release description below.
A horror adventure about a boy with a glowing head is coming to Nintendo Switch very soon. In
Bulb Boy you can solve puzzles, defeat wicked monsters and reveal bulby's abilities to unfold a
twisted tale. Ohhh... And don't forget to save your Grandpa-raffin and Mothdog from the
frightening darkness..
Various Nintendo Switch setups are supported - TV play, handheld, desktop gaming as well as
Pro controller.
This is set for a Summer release in all regions - Europe / Australia, Japan and North America.
Do you like the look of Bulb Boy?

Talked a bit to the developer at the Casual Connect in Berlin this year. A really fascinating title, very surreal, with a kickass visual design. Great addition to the Switch!
Interesting, but I do wish the trailer was clearer in regards to what the gameplay is like.
@Rebusmind
offtopic: So when's Swapquest coming to Switch??
Timed exclusive.
Looks interesting enough but I'm not convinced enough to part with cash for it.
interesting but agreed trailer doesn't reveal much
Why no release date or price? I saw this on the UK eShop this morning with a price of £7.19 and a release date of 20th June.
I am not into point and click games and considering it is to release straight after ARMS, I will be giving this a miss, unfortunately. The character seems interesting though.
@JunkRabbit Haha, not too soon (if ever). I'm still talking to Nintendo about it. But if it happens, you'll read about it on Nintendo Life.
Played it on Steam. I liked it, not gonna double dip, though.
Like a typical game advert, doesn't tell you when it is showing gameplay.
But looks interesting
It's $2.50 on Android, I wonder how much the switch version costs.
Point and click game so I'll pass. Cool for people that like the genre though.
The last one I played was on the vita and was pretty good but halfway in I couldn't play anymore without a strategy guide. Lol
When I read the article title, I thought the game was about a Dutch boy with a tulip bulb head...
Wish there was more gameplay in the video but im interested.
@ricklongo Looks like its just a sidescrolling horror-themed walking sim. Like Neverending Nightmares or something. We'll see how much the puzzle elements spruce things up, but one trend we've seen over the past few years are a lot of indies tossing the words "puzzles" about when they're really just making walking sims :/
Originally released in 2015; currently £5.99 on Steam. Blurb:
"Bulb Boy is an intuitive 2D point & click horror adventure about a boy with a glowing head (alright, it's a bulb...) inspired by Machinarium and Gobliiins. Solve puzzles, defeat wicked monsters and reveal bulby's abilities to unfold a twisted tale."
Review consensus suggests it's good, but somewhat short.
I'm not going to pay more than 5.99 for this if at all on Switch. Another 2.99 or less Android game that will more than likely be 12.99 on Switch. I seriously don't like the way things are going on Switch. Hope E3 will change all that and put me at ease. I was wishing last night that I had Bought a PS4 instead While watching my son Play Final Fantasy 14 online. I just don't see Switch getting that kind of game in North America. I'm going to hang in there. The 3DS took some time too. But all these Indie announcements and No AAA 3rd party announcements has me a bit worried at this early stage.
@Windy @BarryDunne Okay, yeah, I agree. I'm not about to drop triple the price just so I can play it on a screen that's a bit bigger than my phone.
It has my attention, this would be my kind of horror.
@Windy Did you miss the part at the beginning of the article where it said: "Previously released to critical acclaim on PC and smart devices, it'll arrive on Nintendo's console a couple of months ahead of other platforms."
I'm fairly certain this is not an Android game...
@FiveDigitLP I'm more worried about the Eshop Price Gouging. This is a game that's less than 6 bucks in other Markets. But the Eshop Triples the prices. That's my main complaint about these system Indie ports. I bet they price it at 12.99 to prove my point.
Looks very weird and interesting.
@Windy,
You bet! The e-shop prices are more awful then ever. I guess I won't download a single thing when I have a Switch.
Is it just me, or is his 'Dad' a bong?! 32 seconds in...til my next hit.
@Windy It's listed as $8.99, same regular price as it is on Steam.
