Peripheral maker NEXiLUX is about to release an adapter which allows you to use a wide range of alternative controllers on the Switch.
The Game Genie (no relation to the cheat cartridge from the early '90s) plugs into the USB port of the Switch's dock and works with The Wii U Pro Controller, Xbox One S pad, PlayStation 3 DualShock 3 and PlayStation 4 DualShock 4. You can also use it to run all of those pads - as well as Switch controllers - on your PlayStation 3 or PC.
The video above shows the unit being used on a PC, so at the moment we're not entirely sure how elegantly it works with the Switch itself, but it certainly sounds useful. Is this something you'd want to get your hands on? The Game Genie launches at the end of August, and we'll try and get our hands on one for review.

Brilliant bit of kit! having one of these would make buying the pro controller pointless, obviously if you already have a xbox or ps.
If it did get popular though Nintendo would most likely release a firmware update which would render it useless.
@oOFincHyOo I don't think it's THAT perfect a solution that it would make the Pro Controller obsolete; there is tech in the Pro Controller not found in other controllers. Some games would work great. Splatoon 2, not so much. I see this as a novelty or convenience.
I mean, Brook already has controller adapters for Switch since June. You just need to get the Wii U one and upgrade it to the Switch firmware.
I would love if it made the Xbox One Elite controller compatible. I got quite good with its rear pedals playing Rocket League on PC and it would be great to play with that once it gets released on the Switch. Unfortunately, that controller doesn't support Bluetooth.
Hopefully I can find one, definitely useful.
Nice! Dualshock 4 is the most comfortable controller I've ever held (I love the symmetric analog sticks, wish Switch had the same setup like Wii U controllers, but I suppose that would make joycons unusable for multiplayer. No excuse for pro controller though!)
would be sweet to use PS4 controller it with Switch Looking forward to this!
Yes, perfect for me ! As I already have 3 Wii U pro controllers !!!
I think the switch pro controller is pretty fantastic so won't be using anything else on my switch however I am interested in using my switch pro on my pc so will look into this 😀
That is an awful video. 5 minutes of someone waving a camera around pressing buttons on controllers?!
@LegacySmikey
It is indeed the best one in terms of quality /ergonomics. The only thing lacking is analog triggers and a headphone jack.
Great idea especially with the price of the pro controller. Nintendo won't be happy though.
@chardir I was thinking the same thing. A little narration and maybe some video editing to cut the failed attempts would have gone a long way.
A tripod would have been helpful too.
This honestly seems pretty bad to me.
Any game that uses motion controlls won't work fully and having analog buttons when only digital buttons are being supported is often horrible (Problem: at what point does the button actually trigger? It will always be slower than the digital button)
Edit: Since I wasn't completely clear. I am of course only talking about PS/Xbox controllers on Switch instead of the expensive Pro Controller.
How do we purchase it, though? I didn't see it on NEXiLUX's site.
Awesome. I'll buy this so I can use my Wii U Pro Controller on the Switch (assuming it works well).
Omg! Gotta get one of these! The WiiU Pro Controller is my favorite of all time. I love my Switch, but am disappointed by the staggerd analog sticks. I get why they did it, but this would solve my problem!
@artofmana The Switch Pro controller is waaayy overpriced garbage and looks like a fat persons ass unfortunately.
Gamers with loads of over controllers sitting around will save a fortune with one of these.
@FiveDigitLP Read the article, it's still in development and won't be available until near the end if August.
Too bad I like my Pro controller more than any other controller I've ever owned.
Hmmm I wonder if this is a way to get the HRAP wireless?
Glorious!
Very interested!
@NEStalgia That defeats part of the purpose. That part being wired for least possible latency.
@Menchi187 Sure for competitive purposes, but no harm having a wireless HRAP as an optional accessory. I'd use it quite often that way if I could.
Technically the latency thing was debunked ages ago anyway with modern BT controllers, the real point for going wired is interference/limited channels/etc. in competitive settings with too much radio activity going on (and thus dropped & delayed inputs!). At home there shouldn't be a real difference. Wireless stinks for gatherings of many players and could never work for competition. But for home play the latency should actually be the same (USB isn't latency-free after all either.)
If this works with HRAP I'm getting one!
what's the price?
@NEStalgia My HRAP will be here tomorrow, they can send me a test sample of this and I'll let you know, np
This can't be legal.
I'll stick with my Switch Pro Controller. It's ultra comfortable and has the gyro I need to play Zelda and Splatoon 2.
@Menchi187 Cool, thanks! I'm really curious! I'm pretty certain @Ryu_Niiyama would be interested to find out as well! Though we're both going be gnashing our teeth that you have your HRAP and ours are in shipment limbo
@aesc: The PS4 controller doesn't have HD Rumble, NFC, and I doubt even if this device supports it PS4 controllers have the same resolution motion sensors. PS4 motion is a bit stiff. Not sure I'd be the one wanting to play Splatoon with this thing. There's plenty of reasons to still buy a real Pro controller, so I'm not sure this'll have an undercutting effect any more than 8bitdo. It's the same kind of "tinkerer geek" thing, like I for example love XBox's ergonomics...using their controller would be nice (though the Pro is so good I really don't need to.) But I'm curious abut that HRAP.
@Menchi187 YOU LUCKY DUCK! Amazon delayed mine...and a few other folks. Just so you know I'm side-eyeing you in envy right now.
@NEStalgia Throws up hands I give up.
@Ryu_Niiyama Yep, I'm right there too! I'm guessing only the US shipment got delayed. Indefinitely it would seem!
Also, I have to laugh, I was going to tell Menchi we'd be giving him the evil eye....realized I was tagging you in, and decided to reword it. And then you go ahead and do it anyway
@NEStalgia @Ryu_Niiyama I got mine from Play Asia, I got the very last they had in the initial preorders Here in Europe, Amazon still has them in stock but they were only added recently compared to months ago of play asia.
@NEStalgia I'm looking at padhacks to the joycons (Or even the hori pokken pad). I don't have time to build a shell right now, but I may get annoyed enough and toss a cigar box stick together until I can build a shell. Depends on how long the delay is. I buy sticks to SAVE time Hori, come on!
Oh yeah...I don't normally hand out the side eye but when I do...I pull out the Captain Janeway glare.
@Menchi187 See, you try to support domestic retailers...and this is how they do ya. Ah well.
@Ryu_Niiyama aug30-sept25. Woot?
@NEStalgia I still don't have a date. Well aside from ships in 1 to 2 months on the Amazon website. Whatever, focused on the Taiko conference next week right now anyway. I'll deal with video games when I get back.
Edit: Just got a shipment date for my Female Kamui amiibo though W00t!
Edit again: Ok now it says Sept 1-30th. Sigh.
@Ryu_Niiyama mine just shipped!
@NEStalgia Can't find this anywhere, how did you order it???
@JH64 Amazon US still has them (for now.) I actually pre-ordered mine the day they went up for pre-order, and then the US shipment seemed to be delayed indefinitely before spontaneously shipping a few days ago. So for now, in the US it's "easily available" but I don't know if those supplies will hold and how long it will take for stock to get to the UK! Though Menchi already got his in Ireland before we did! Maybe they're just sold out from the first wave there.
@Menchi187 Which reminds me, any luck procuring a Game Genie adapter to test it out?
THAnks! Might try the us store! How much was it?
@NEStalgia No, that part was actually a joke towards the makers of it to send me a free one to test lol
Can I know where is the review and is it better than the COOV N100 brand Switch Controller Converter?
