It annoys me that Klonoa is on this list. On the one hand it got a boost but on the other hand you literally can't even open the game on Switch 2 if you own the digital version!! Not being able to play I would argue is a serious performance decrease.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. I pre-ordered Bananza so now I am staring at the icon on my home screen. It's the most expensive game I've ever bought but hopefully it will be worth it. For this week I have been playing:
Super Mario Maker 2 - Been awhile since I played. Mostly Playing some fun levels made by followed creators.
Planet of Lana - Fun and pretty game though I got seriously stuck on a pipe organ puzzle. Edit: I have now finished. Really beautiful and relaxing game.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure - I finally started working more on visitors. I never realized you could get like 50 permanent island residents if you make enough visitors happy 👀 That's kind of too many.
The Plucky Squire - Grabbed on sale. Runs well on Switch 2. I'm undecided about the 3D parts, but the storybook parts are extremely charming.
@HeadPirate There have been plenty of complaints about people getting banned from their Microsoft account or even devices for odd reasons. And Microsoft has a very similar TOS as Nintendo; there was an outcry about it some years back.
I'm not saying we should support overly draconic anti-piracy rules, but there is a weird tendency to demonize only Nintendo for similar rules as others.
@The_Nintend_Pedant I mean, steam accounts can be permanently banned easily enough for breaking TOS, making you lose all your games. At least in this article the person got everything back.
@cvrator Nintendo calls bans permanent on their support page but I suppose that doesn't mean Nintendo can't undo them.
Most of the freak out about banning has just been from people trying to interpret the Switch 2 TOS plus quotes from a few random not always reliable people.
@Rhaoulos It was less about digital versus physical and more about getting a discounted price day 1 (I realize day 1 physical discounts sometimes exist in the UK but they certainly don't in the US).
I haven't played any of these and I guess I didn't buy any games published in June, but Fantasy Life i Switch 2 edition is definitely high on my to-buy list.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. This week I have been playing:
Kitten Lost Her Box - Adorable precision platformer. It's very short so I already 100%-ed it. The bosses are really cute and fun in this game and other games by the same dev.
Planet of Lana - Chill and pretty puzzle platformer with a crazy opening sequence and interesting setting.
Game Builder Garage - Decided to play some stages after the recent video about it. Very impressive what some players are able to create.
JustAxe - I'm slightly confused by the plot, but basically a Russian girl is called out to travel through monster infested lands and all she has is an axe so she uses it to fight, platform, and get around obstacles. It's kinda surreal and kinda cute. I've only played one level so far which was like 30 minutes long.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure - I've finally unlocked all the residents (I think?) so I am working through some quests related to the newer residents.
I went back and played some a few hours ago. There are some really great player creations. I hope Nintendo makes a more robust sequel and actually supports it this time.
Edit: I played the stage in the comment below me and it's really cute and fun.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the only 2025-published game I've played a lot of. It's quite good - I gave it 8/10 as my personal score--but my GotY is usually 9/10 or 10/10 so I suspect it will get replaced in the second half of the year. Possibly by Bananza.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. I've been too sick the last few days to play games but if I get better before the weekend ends I'll probably just play a little low energy Hello Kitty Island Adventure .
I did watch the Bananza trailer and am looking forward to that game even more now.
@speedracer216 @roy130390 I think the reason she looks smaller than her age is because she's on an enormous ape.
@Neckcrane I'd like to think that the donkey kong in the original arcade game is this one and that him and Pauline were friends since childhood (e.g. bananza). Sadly arcade Pauline has memory loss and DK is trying to cure her but Mario keeps interfering.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone! I managed to snag a Switch 2 after looking for a few days but I haven't bought any new games so I've mostly been testing old ones:
Princess Peach: Showtime! - Not a huge performance boost besides faster loading screens but I remembered how much I loved this game. It could use a Switch 2 update; I might completely replay it if it gets one.
Cult of the Lamb - I gave up on this game on Switch because it was so laggy and slow but it runs sooooo much better on Switch 2. It's basically perfect now.
Super Mario Maker 2 - Runs the same on most levels (I didn't manage to find one of those glitch ultra laggy levels ) but the Pro Controller 2 is an actual dream to play with this game. Far fewer mis inputs.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure -Better performance, better graphics, better loading on Switch 2. Already a great game but now better.
Fitness Circuit - Used my old joycons which are very easy to connect to Switch 2. Otherwise runs basically the same.
Fall Guys - I didn't notice any performance changes but I was mostly happy an online-only game transitioned perfectly.
Suika Game - One would think a simple game like this wouldn't care which console it was on, but loading was significantly faster on Switch 2.
Pokémon Violet - Comparatively gorgeous now and having pokemon load before they are an inch away is such a quality of life improvement. I'm not sure if I want to go back and play the game more, but this certainly makes me feel more positive about future Pokemon games.
Tetris Effect - Performance was the same (it was already fine) but the headphone connection to pro 2 controller was very nice for this game.
Street Fighter 6 (demo) - Quite fun and impressive looking demo, though I felt like I might break my new controller if I played too much 😅
No Man's Sky - Looks and runs great on Switch 2 with the patch.
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - Maybe I'm blind but I didn't notice any difference with the Switch 2 patch. Maybe because my tv isn't 4K?
I've never had a PS5, but I've been tempted in the past. However the fact that a lot of PS5 exclusives become non-exclusive after a short wait and some of those are even coming to Switch 2 has significantly decreased my interest in PS5.
@Kienda Nintendo Life is definitely not gloating 😆 Remember that the small company which runs NL has a PlayStation and xbox site too so they don't want console wars, they want all the consoles to do well.
@OorWullie What do you mean by Nintendo including digital sales? Their quarterly update with official sales data of major games always includes digital.
@Joeynator3000 Walmart via online order is where I ended up getting mine on Sunday. They seem to sell mostly in store but randomly have some online daily — you have to snag them super fast though which is why checking the websites regularly or using the instock tracking app (or something similar) is handy. In theory gamestop and best buy will sell online at some point but I don't know when (best buy said they wouldn't sell online for the first week). Target has had some online orders available sporadically but they sell out super quickly. It's honestly a bit of a blood bath fighting each time online sales appear but hopefully they will keep getting more stock. Best of luck to you.
Very much enjoying the Switch 2 I got last night. Feels extremely polished in most ways.
@Joeynator3000 good luck! It took me most of a week, but I found one by stalking every major US retailer which sells switch 2. Some of them seem to get a trickle every day amd a lot of the apps and websites both say if you can order any online and if any store nearby has one. I ended up getting one at Walmart by spamming everytime they did their apparently nightly update of online orders. I also suggest the InStock mobile app which attempts to track all Switch 2 appearances.
I hope you get one soon. Hopefully stock will keep coming so everyone serious about getting one in June can find one.
@Horstofthefuture The d-pads are great so far. I tested them with a bunch of crazy mario maker 2 levels with vines everywhere and such which usually got me caught because of mis inputs with my Pro 1 controller. Pro 2 had no problem at all.
@sanderev There are tons of art exhibits and museums that are free. Not all obviously, but it's somewhat common for them to be, essentially, a government-run perk. Which, in this analogy, would be equivalent to Nintendo providing the game for free.
@DiamondJim If you change the virtual game card settings, you can allow any game to be playable on two connected consoles as long as one is connected to the internet. You can't play them at the exact same time which is a silly restriction for YouTube, but you can still have it easily accessible on both.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. I hope everyone who got a Switch 2 has been enjoying it.
I have spent all my game time the last few days stalking inventory trying to find a Switch 2. 😆 Standing in lines, spamming buttons when one pops up online, etc. I have gotten very close, seeing others in-person get one in front of me in line and getting one into an electronic shopping kart several times before they ran out. They pop up often enough I don't doubt I'll get one, but there are a lot of hunters like me I have to fight. I have managed to obtain a screen protector, a 512gb sd card and a Pro 2 Controller.
The only actual game I've played this week is Fitness Circuit.
I'm not a graphic snob and I did like the games, but this looks significantly better. I always thought it was hilarious how bad the framerate was inside the school before. And having things farther from you actually be loaded so you don't run into them is wonderful.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. I've been organizing my games a bit this week in hopes I manage to snag a Switch 2 next week. I have also been playing:
Hello Kitty Island Adventure - Checking out the recent updates. The stacking update is really nice; I can finally put food on my table!
Tetris 99 - I just bought the final theme. I'll probably take a Tetris break for awhile next week but it's been interesting playing so much outside of the competitions; I feel like more of the players are super good at certain times of day on random weekdays than the crowd which joins events.
Ninja Gaiden (NSO) - Just finished the NES game... by cheating and putting a save state before the final boss 😝 The first few worlds are pretty chill but Act 6 is brutal with the very limited lives and somewhat tight timers and occasional enemy spam. It was fun though.
Fitness Circuit - Trying to put this back into my regular workout routine.
I'm hoping to actually get a Switch 2 on day 1 since I have failed several times at getting a pre-order. I'm also hoping to find an sd card larger than 128gb. Likely no actual games on day 1, but I'll definitely snag Fantasy Life i eventually.
3 whole DLCs and 2 whole Switch 2 upgrades! I'm not going to complain about extra benefits but I always thought it was strange they added Splatoon 2 DLC but not Splatoon 3 DLC (or any more ). Which also makes me suspect the current Switch 2 upgrades may be the only ones ever added to NSO.
Happy weekend and gaming everyone. Although Fantasy Life i is very enticing, I am holding off onto Switch 2. Instead I have been playing:
Tempopo - This is such a charming game. The puzzles are surprisingly intricate as you rotate 3-dimensionally and place various items. And the musical aspect is adorable.
Fitness Circuit - I decided to put some gaming back into my exercise routine again. As my sore body indicates, this game definitely makes me to do some types of exercises I don't normally.
Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo (demo) - Basically a zelda-like where a yoyo takes the place of sword plus boomerang plus likely other items as you upgrade. It calls itself a 'yoyo-vania'. This game hadn't been on my radar but the demo was great.
Be Brave, Barb - I'm not usually into games where you have to jump around while upside down, but this game does it quite well. Very cute little platformer puzzler.
Tetris 99 - It's been interesting playing daily this month rather than only during events, but I hope an event comes soon; those are always fun.
Picross LogiartGrimoire - After a lot of Picross this year I am on a semi-break, but still doing a smidge here and there.
@wazlon Bzzzt is such a great game. And I'm sure Switch 2 will have a new exercise game, but we'll see if it will have a ring again or something else.
Well, at least I'm in good company with the 100s of other US poll-responders who have also failed to get one.
@Overzeal I never realized there were stock issues with Switch 1. I didn't try to buy one until about 2 months in, but in May 2017 I just walked into a store one weekend afternoon and there were plenty on the shelf.

Nice they fixed Portal 2. Unfortunately Klonoa still crashes.

Far faster than Switch 1 downloads but still significantly slower than e.g. my phone downloads things over the same wifi.

Re: 97 Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Switch eShop Summer Sale (North America)
Definitely tempted by Neva.
Re: Drag X Drive Switch 2 eShop Price Revealed
That is cheap; I was assuming it would be $30-$40. Nice that it's a reasonable price for those who want it.

New Cow Super Mario power-up.
