I'm glad I already got a Switch 2, but I hope this doesn't affect how well the system does.

This is a hard one, but I'll go for Kirlia. Gardevoir also; it's kind of hard to break up evolution chains.

This will probably be one I grab if it comes to Switch 2.

I'll be generic and pick a starter this time. I usually prefer water starters, but Bayleef is a cutey. I'm also a big fan of mareep.

Tempting but I am waiting for more reviews.

I voted Ponyta but Rapidash also of course. And Eevee is a close second.

• Yoku's Island Express - Was on a very deep eShop sale so I finally picked this up. The combination of exploration and pinball is quite fun and the art and character design is lovely.
• Squeakross: Home Squeak Home - A cute Picross game where solving puzzles gives you furniture and other household goods to decorate with. There is an adorable and quite in-depth character creator to create your own rat.
• Tamagoneko - A precision platformer with slightly janky controls. You keep getting new abilities every 20 levels - so far abilities consistent with being a cat such as wall climb. There are 160 levels in total; time will tell if I finish them all or rage quit, but so far it has a decent level of challenge without being unfair.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - Up to level 23 on Moppu. Otherwise, finishing up the two February events.

I have a 3 day weekend so I will likely play something else as well, but I haven't decided what yet.

Ohh, this has been on my wishlist for awhile, I'm glad it got a review.

20 hours or less is ideal for a game like this I feel.

I'm interested, but not sure if I can bring myself to pay $70 for it.

I wish they would give us all a demo for this one.

Some of those previews seem to focus on Wario Land being good and some focus on the device being horrible to use ... I can certainly believe both of those can be true at the same time.

Pass for me — there are plenty of good games which don't cause physical pain.

But I'm glad it exists for game preservation purposes and so people can try it if they want to.

• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - Got 2 new visitors to move in and am up to level 20 friendship on the new main character. Also playing the February events. For the first time I am seeing a repeat (though modified) event, so I must be very close to a year with this game. 👀
• Sonic X Shadow Generations - Picked this up on a great sale a few weeks ago and finally diving in. First few levels are very cute - the gimmick of going between 2D and 3D is fun.
• Spiritfall - A pretty rogue-lite with combat in a series of small rooms. There are some special stages which are set up a lot like a Smash arena.
• Seers Isle - A lovely visual novel I played years ago but never 100%-ed. Rather than being allowed to save state each choice there is only automatic saving- you simply get what you get from all your choices which is an interesting way to do it. So I am starting from scratch.
• Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics - I was just in a random mood to play a few weird games. I may try for some trophies I never got. It slightly annoys me that if you are playing with pro controller and you accidentally click on a game which requires joycons, it just soft locks you and doesn't even let you leave the game until you obtain a joycon.

I also watched the partner direct. No must-buys for me but a lot of potentially interesting games. The new hamster console archives is interesting... although I wish NSO could have all the hamster games 😆I played a little of the monster hunter stories 3 demo which is quite nice. Overall ok partner direct, but I am looking forward to a general in the next few months.

As with some of the above comments, I'll have to wait for reviews to see if the single player content is worth it. I agree with the IGN reaction that if I wanted silly Nintendo multiplayer I would just play Mario Party or Wario or Kart.

I'll probably pick up Doraemon. I'm excited to see what Hamster will bring to the new line.

Mario Wonder still not quite up to top 10 for Switch. It is getting close though.

Happy to see Switch 2 doing well. I admit I was hoping Bananza would sell more over the holidays, but it looks like that 12 million copies of Pokemon Z-A was hogging the attention.

Of those games, I'm looking forward to MIO but haven't bought it yet.

I bought Suika Game Planet which is cute but I think I prefer the original game. Planet doesn't have as much as the interesting bounce physics so the strategy isn't quite as elaborate.

I also played Bunninjutsu, a cheap cute little indie platformer. The game has good controls and uses a good concept of changing everytime you jump but unfortunately it is insanely short so feels more like a demo than a full game.

I got 12/12 but I guessed the price question so I only actually knew 11/12.

@Nintoz I have no clue how the leaderboard works. My only guess for me is because I clicked on the article but then closed it and came back later when I had time to do the quiz.

• BALL x PIT - I beat new game plus, played NG++, unlocked and played all the DLC stuff. It's been a fun ride but I'm probably done with the game for now.
• Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Still playing around with the hotel and all the other new stuff. It's been fun to revisit the game for a few weeks. I'm getting close to 600 hours total though almost all of that was before the 3 year break 😆
• Golden Axe - My current retro game. The controls are not great and the final boss is like 10 times harder than the rest of the game. I beat it with one character and also played the enemy rush mode, but there are two more characters with different abilities to play. I am playing in the Sega Genesis Classics collection, but the game is also on Nintendo Classics Expansion Pack.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - They recently added a new main character (a super cute bear) as well as some new visitors and story so I am back to playing more to level up the new character.
• The Rogue Prince of Persia - Just started, but I absolutely love the controls. Being able to briefly run up walls in the background is wonderful and makes some great platforming. I kind of wish this wasn't a rogue lite; controls this good would be wonderful in a variety of genres. My only minor negative is that it has the longest loading screens I've seen on a Switch 2 game.

Yoshi is the one I am most excited about so far although I suspect some not yet announced game will eventually be my top for 2026. I'm very curious about Splatoon Raiders also.

I only very rarely get amiibos but I'm not sure if I could resist a Zelda EoW one.

I'm planning to start the game today, so no clue what my score will be. But I anticipate liking it

• Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo - Just started but great game so far. It calls itself a 'yoyovania' but in practice it feels a little like a Zelda-like and a little like a metroidvania and mainly just a creative top-down 2D action adventure.
• Animal Crossing: New Horizons - I've mostly been having fun with the hotel. I also like to see random tourists wandering around my island.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - There is a big update patch with a new character and other things which was just released so I plan to jump into that after a recent semi-break from the game.
• Picross LogiartGrimoire - Planning to start the fourth DLC pack. This one has bigger puzzles so I will likely go through it pretty slowly.
• Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade - I'm a tad sick so I'm not sure if I will manage to play this this weekend, but I'm hoping to start it at least.

I also tested some new demos. fullmetal schoolgirl was a super silly one in particular I decided to add to my wishlist.

@SuperBro64 It's not that I hate multiplayer but rather that I thought the original game had plenty of it with couch co op and a couple different modes of online play. I've played through Wonder both single player and couch co op. I found the co-op pretty fun and hilarious. However, I just don't have any interest in random multiplayer mini-games in Wonder; Fundamentally if that is what I wanted I would play Mario Party instead. Mario Bros U (the prior main 2D mario) had some truly excellent single player DLC which extended the original game well so it was a little disappointing that we didn't get something like that in Wonder.

I haven't decided yet whether to get the update or not. Although the Toad brigade challenges could be fun, the overall multiplayer emphasis doesn't interest me much. I had originally wanted a Mario Wonder DLC, but very few things I was hoping for ended up in this DLC. I love the original game so I will wait and read reviews before I decide.

@UpsideDownRowlet My only guess for having so many Nintendo version updates this week is them clearing out all the minor news to get ready for a direct.

I'm so happy they increased the maximum number of mega shards. 999 was far too low given some of the prices. I lost a lot to overflow before I noticed the old max.

• Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Trying out the free update. Mostly I have been messing around in the slumber islands.
• Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - I got very distracted by other games so haven't played this in a week, but I plan to grab my first crafting class and then maybe check out the main quests again.
• Bunninjutsu - I snagged this random puzzly precision platformer for $3 after reading a positive review. Unfortunately, although the controls and gimmick are both well done, the game is extremely short and easy so I beat it in about 15 minutes. I then speed ran it a couple times but there isn't much to it.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - It's My Melody's birthday. I haven't been doing my dailies lately but I will definitely play for the events.

Besides the loading time, I admit to not really being able to tell the difference.

The Switch 2 edition didn't feel worth it to me but I have enjoyed the free Switch 1 patch which also came this week.

I haven't encountered any bugs yet, but glad they are being fixed.

I'm not sure who is going to snag ARMS for 30% off 9 years in... I'm guessing online multiplayer isn't super active.

I've been wanting Raiden IVx Mikado Remix for awhile but it is unfortunately one of the few Switch games still not compatible with Switch 2.

They aren't listed in this article but I am tempted by Nine Sols and Gradius Origins which are both currently 50% off for the first time.

I assume we'll hear more either in a direct or on Mario day. If it has some interesting single player content, I'll definitely grab the upgrade.

@LuigiMario There will definitely be an upgrade pack. That's basically how Nintendo defined the difference between a 'Switch 2 edition' of a Switch 1 game versus a 'Switch 2 game'. It's just Switch 2-exclusive paid DLC.

@shoeses Yeah, the original game already had couch co op and a couple variations of online play; I don't feel like it particularly needed more multiplayer but there was a ton of single player stuff I feel could be added.

• Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - Astoundingly good so far. Extremely cute, lots of variety, surprisingly deep plot. Very addictive. I'm still early game but loving it so far.
• BALL x PIT - Finally beat the first level. This game is kind of crazy. I like the laser balls.
• Tetris 99 - Playing for the event. The new theme is cute although the sound effects are a little much.
• Suika Game Planet - I played the original game a zillion hours and the new game is only $3 so I snagged it. It's not super excitingly different but it was worth the $3 to try.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - I haven't been playing much but I am hoping I finally get a visitor to move in that I have been waiting for for ages.
• Pokémon Legends: Z-A -Season 5 just started so I will be playing a little multiplayer, at least enough to get the mega stone.

Looks interesting; I hope it comes to Switch 2.

That is very disappointing. Of the few remaining games I was really hoping would be ported to Switch 2, this is the only one I thought was super likely...

omg, I forgot about this. Original Suika Game is one of my top played games on Switch. I'll definitely grab this one.

I haven't played it yet, but I'm definitely going to play Rogue Prince of Persia eventually; looks great.

I totally forgot the animal crossing update was this month but I would love to play a new Tetris 99 event. The new theme is adorable. I hope the events are pretty regular still in 2026.

• Dadish 4 - Such a cute little game. I just finished 100%-ing it. All the platformers in this series are quite fun.
• Hello Kitty Island Adventure - I have very little left to do in the game (200+ hours in) so I'll just be logging on occasionally for awhile to see if I can get my final visitors to move in.
• Pixel Game Maker Series Stray Witch and the Ghost Train - Very cute arcade-ish action platformer. I'm only a few levels in and haven't bought all the upgrades, but I'm not sure how long the game is.
• Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time - Now that I'm mostly done with Hello Kitty, I'm looking forward to starting this game.
• BALL x PIT - Another game I grabbed during the holiday sales. I've only played a few minutes so far and it seems kind of addicting but I also have absolutely no idea what is going on 😆

Having 5 of the top 10 is pretty impressive. And amusing that it includes 2 Mario Karts... And then 8 of the top 15. Good showing.
