Re: Palworld Developer Responds To Nintendo Lawsuit

FirstEmperor

@HeadPirate I'm actually really confused about post numbering now. Sometimes it skips over blocked posts and sometimes it doesn't. In any case thanks for the tag.

Alright, so I did log out just to see what the real post 109 is, and it turns out to be HammerKirby's post which I already responded to. Go figure.

Your "Marxist propaganda" post is actually #111, so 2 posts apparently have you blocked.

Re: Palworld Developer Responds To Nintendo Lawsuit

FirstEmperor

@LavenderShroud I'm guessing they're here to be buzzkills because it's not enough for them to simply avoid Nintendo products - they want to ruin the enjoyment of Nintendo's actual consumers. My advice is to just accept their presence and enjoy the delicious bitter tears when Switch becomes the best selling console of all time.

@Wexter Yup. Like I said, it's a blatant lie or gross incompetence, which is to be expected from some whose whole schtick is AlL CoRpOrAtIoNs ArE EvIl!!1

Fun fact: Pokémon did appear in Nintendo products in the US even before the Gameboy RPGs were translated. Off the top of my head the Gameboy Camera had Pokemon sprites you could use to decorate your photos with, and it came out several months before Red/Blue.

@HeadPirate Thank you very much for your informative posts here. The only thing I'm still really curious about is how Japanese patent law will impact this case. I've always heard Japan has very strong IP protection laws, but I'm no expert.

Second Edit: post numbering makes no sense at all, so thanks for tagging me in what post 109 looks like to you.

Re: Nintendo And Pokémon File Lawsuit Against Palworld Developer Pocketpair

If Nintendo's success against Yuzu is any indication, Nintendo is definitely willing to be patient and build a strong case, since that lawsuit wasn't filed until Yuzu was out for several years.

A lot of Nintendo haters who were gloating about how Nintendo can't sue are eating crow right now. Hope Nintendo wins so they get to eat crow again.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Insane PS5 Pro Price Highlights The Delicate Balance Nintendo Must Strike With 'Switch 2'

FirstEmperor

As someone who spent $200 on a 1TB memory card for the Switch, the additional 1.2 TB in the PS5 Pro's internal SSD makes the extra $200 seem like a good deal to me, but I really don't like that it's missing the disc drive and a stand.

If I didn't already have a PS5 I'd definitely pick up a Pro, but I really can't justify spending $700 on a slight upgrade to a console I already have, unless some store like Gamestop offers a really good trade-in deal.

And LOL at everyone calling the PS5 Pro a "scam." The PS5 slim still exists, so you haven't lost anything. The Pro is just an option for gamers who don't want to have to choose between fidelity and performance modes, along with some extra storage. It's up to each individual consumer if that's worth an extra $200. Having more options is not a bad thing.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda '80s Cartoon Series Gets DVD Re-Release

I enjoyed the old Super Mario Super Show but always despised the Zelda cartoon, even back in the day. However, as someone who thoroughly enjoyed Metroid: Other M despite the supposed character assassination that Samus went through in that game, I guess I can understand how someone could enjoy this despite the genuine character assassination that Link went through here.

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

@RubyCarbuncle You can whine about my choice of words all you want, but I will always consider complaining about first-world problems whining.

Also, I never said you were whining about LM2HD. I said you "have a right to whine about me whining about their whining." If you had never inserted yourself into that discussion, this conversation (that apparently didn't go anywhere) wouldn't have happened.

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

FirstEmperor

@RubyCarbuncle Of course it's whining, just like what you're doing now. And I've already acknowledged everyone's right to whine about whatever they want so I'm not sure why you're bringing up rights again.

The only people I called hypocrites (and its wasn't anyone specific at first because I'm not going through everyone's post history) are the ones to whine about Nintendo's prices while also condemning the mass layoffs that all other major publishers have been doing recently. Clearly Nintendo uses their profits responsibly since they were able to weather the Wii U storm without layoffs.

The high cost of living is a real problem, and that's were phrases like "price gouging" are actually appropriate. Not luxury items like video games.

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

FirstEmperor

@RubyCarbuncle Any complaint (and related discussion) about the price of a video game is pretty much the definition of a first-world problem and I call that whining.

If there's anyone who defends Nintendo's prices while complaining about other $70 games on other platforms then they deserve to be called out for hypocrisy too. I'm not one of them though; I spent $70 on FF7 Rebirth and Stellar Blade and have no regrets.

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

FirstEmperor

@RubyCarbuncle Of course people have a right to whine about whatever they want. And I have a right to whine about their whining. And you have a right to whine about me whining about their whining. And so on...

I have a big problem with hypocrisy though, and it's the absolute height of hypocrisy to condemn mass layoffs while also demanding lower prices. Not sure if anyone here is guilty of that specifically (if they are here they know who they are) and I don't feel like combing through everyone's post history to find out, so I left my comment vague.

Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Confirmed For Switch, Launching 2025

FirstEmperor

@Jalex_64 The only times I can think of when Nintendo canceled a game for its original platform were Pikmin 3 and 4, and those were only because they were delayed so much that their original platform was no longer even in production. That's why I've always said the only way Prime 4 could become a Switch 2 exclusive is if development restarted yet again so that the Switch 1 would no longer be available when it comes out.

I still remember people claiming TotK was delayed so it could coincide with Switch 2's launch. You'd think people might've learned something from that, but no.

Re: Random: It's Now Been Seven Years Since Metroid Prime 4 Was Announced

FirstEmperor

@Tendogamerxxx A whole generation behind what? Certainly not any handheld, which the Switch most certainly qualifies as. It's a full generation ahead of the 3DS and certainly more powerful than the Vita as well.

If Nintendo is developing MP4 for Switch 2 from the ground up then that makes it twice that development has restarted. This rarely ends well (just see what happened with Final Fantasy XV). It also means breaking their promise to the Switch userbase, which would be a terrible business decision.

I think the only way it ends up as a Switch 2 exclusive is if it's delayed for so long that the Switch is no longer even in production, similar to what happened with Pikmin 3 and 4.
