It never clicked for me either unfortnately. Still not finished the Wii U copy i got at launch for £30(mission 6? I think i got too). Bayonetta 2, no problems a joy to play. W101 just makes me frustrated and wish they'd made it more like Viewtiful Joe or something, in 3D.
@Shadowthrone I was a big PC gamer a while ago and had a good selection of Steam games. I looked up which games ran on which streaming service, and went for Geforce now. I haven't upgraded to the premium (they don't yet have the infrastructure to go big yet, but it is growing) and while I wait in the queue I play on my other consoles (it can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 45 depending on time of day). The downside is it only gives you an hour with your game, then you have to change game. This limit is removed when you sub. If I sub for 2 months of the year I can play the "big" November, December games for £10, plus the cost of the game.
Considering how much we pay for internet services these days, getting to use the connection to stream without a huge investment in hardware is a bonus.
Streaming isn't ready for going big just yet, but it provides an option and valid choice if you don't want to spend £450-£1000+ on a nice gaming rig to run the new releases.
I literally tried to get this working yesterday. Not on Switch though, I was a little more ambitious. I tried to get it running on Wii U via it's web browser. Alas I failed, but I am fairly sure there's a way to get it working. Wii U may not have enough memory, but with some effort I reckon it could use any game streaming service. Perhaps if the stream Res was lowered a little.
I still Blast through Cybernator once a year, one of my fave SNES games along with Secret of Mana. As for Anime, I was watching Battle of the Planets and Robotech (cable late 80s) and later in the 90s Channel 4 put Guyver and some others on at 3-4 in the morning. I think Anime lost it's luster for me after watching Akira and being thoroughly dissappointed. I was a hard to please teenager ha. I watched EVA and Ghost in the Shell but neither really swayed me.
Meanwhile at Nintendo HQ Employee barges in on Shigsy "knock, next time knock!" "Did you see anything?' Employee replies "No sir, I didn't see you playing with your dolls again"
They'll just tweak the existing model, perhaps up the ARM processor output to allow for more stable frame rates and a higher rez lock. Maintain the battery limits and up the efficiency of Switch. I believe they will be ready to unveil a "new" console in 2 years, when they are prepared to go all in on VR. This will be a separate product from Switch, but may utilise "some" of the licenses purchased on eshop.
@Daniel36 flawless to the point it compromised the "fear" element of the game. Leon's hands trembled slightly with each weapon, which added to the tension in each encounter. I actually rather enjoyed that aspect of RE 4, so I "cake walked" the Wii version. Then I found out you can use the classic controller with the Wii version, to add back in the difficulty. Then I realised RE 4s controls worked perfectly well on the SNES Wii pad. SNES pad run on professional difficulty using the starter case (no upgrades to inventory) is the way RE 4 should be experienced .
I remember this period well, and I also remember the Original RE 4 trailers with Leon being chased around the spooky castle by a spirit, had a very dark tone and amazing visuals for 2003. For whatever reason they doubled down on Action instead of pure horror and practically rebuilt the game for a 4th time or something daft (hence the late 2004, early 2005 release). I also remember them struggling with the lighting in REmake, they had to redo that alot and it was the main hurdle. So much so they swore they would "never" remake RE again haha.
Been playing on Game cube recently again so will do a couple of more levels in Rainbow six 3 and Lockdown. Got Remnant from the Ashes on sale so started that with my nephew. Playing Star wars Jedi Academy, Battlefront 2 and Squadrons on X1X. Will possibly do a few rounds on Enlisted on Series S as well. A game filled Weekend as the weather's pants.
I hope they do Jo justice. Zero was such a let down, but that was because Rare were turned upside down from within. With a committed focused group of Devs some of whom were fans of the original, it has every chance to succeed.
Side scrolling Metroid by Mercury Steam, Star fox onslaught dog fighting game, F zero battle royale, rainbow six Vegas switchmastered, Super Street fighter IV Arcade Switch joy edition, Dead or Alive Switch, Ridge Racer legends, Burnout collection, Tekken tag 3, Timesplitters HD collection, Soul Calibur Collection (1-5). Any of these.
I like the "hitting R3" con. This is the reason I always in nearly every FPS on console, remap melee to an actual button, whoever first put melee on R3 full stop (on any controller), needs meleeing. Solid enough review, will look out for a nice sale after I free up a little space or get an new SD card.
@StevenG a lie that has caused "some" damage as it led people to believe the Eternal Port would be launched on time. Obvious or not, it happened. But Panic Button have clearly done their very best with the port.
Gotta admit, if this had released on time with those Animal Crossing memes it would have sold very well on Switch, perfect lockdown combination to celebrate gaming as a hobby.
Panic button looks to have done a well made port. Now if they had "actually" made the game with the Switch in mind from the beginning like they actually said they were doing, perhaps it wouldn't have come out so late. Which automatically null and voided the pre order bonus that came out with the other versions. So people will automatically point out the uncompetitive pricing, the lack of, oh you own Doom 64 already, here's the £3.99 discount. At the end of the day Bethesda "want" to sell this? Panic button has been paid, it is down to Bethesda to "sell" it, not us to pay Panic button. I'll gladly drop PB £1000 (all I can spare sorry PB) if they are even remotely going to go bust. Glad they still get used for Switch ports, as clearly their skills are being used on the new consoles as well now. Will definitely check out Doom Eternal in a sale, as I have actually waited for this version.
Nintendo is traditionally a little younger demographically. I would say consoles in general are aimed at children and teens, some people like the hobby so much they keep on playing, depending on if the games suite their tastes still.
Good review that has peaked my interest. Was a little disappointed with John Wick so will have a look at some gameplay of this in next few days. Cheers.
Nice bit of nostalgia. I'm literally playing through Rainbow six 3 on Game cube via HDMI and apart from the poor frame rate, it is just as tense as I remember. God I hope they bring back Doors in the next Rainbow.
@Kyloctopus yeah I thought about that too. Perhaps it was because the game was already up and running in Vessel (released in Japan on Wii U) so it didn't require transfering to another emulator. The whole thing is "odd". It isn't a huge deal tho, just a quirky curio. Look at some ports in collections (mega drive collection) and this is small potatoes compared to some of the issues with those emulations (crap sound, alot of input latency etc).
Enjoying it, but spot on with the Jank. With some love and spit and polish on the animations, this could have been really impressive. They could have taken moves directly from all 3 movies if they needed too, or just copy them for the animation, even down to Keanu' aiming style. I'd like to see another attempt with a good animator.
Vessel allows patches (F zero X deadzone got patched), which enables them to put the translation in. Perhaps the emulator for NSO and Nes mini doesn't allow for such patches easily? Regardless the brightness can be patched if it is a big deal for some users.
In all honesty, even back in 2001, I remember this being overhyped trash. It is a shame they couldn't actually do anything with it. I think I went back to the "lesser" rated Mech commander 2 for my strategy fix that year, "Pain God, ready to kill".
I'd feel sorry for him if he manages to do it, get it uploaded, then 3 different people all beat the level within 30 minutes of play. Someone's super hard is another man's easy peasy bend the rules squeezey.
Just John Wick, been eagerly waiting for the console release. Think that is pretty much 2020 for myself now. Cyberpunk possibly, but as I didn't dig any Witcher game I'll happily wait for a review to gauge whether I'd enjoy it. Next year s most anticipated game, they are finally bringing Mechwarrior 5 to console. Hoping 2021 is the bearer of more awesome games.
I ended up with Series S, it is a little disappointing, mainly poor storage, and an external SSD is merely 4 seconds slower and 1/3 the price of the official expansion. So proprietary storage was a massive mistake for both consoles. However some developers seem to have realised they can try and use the better processor for more A.Is rather than more pixels. So I am looking forward to the few developers that leverage the power in better ways than just typical glitz.
@Razer Wii U actually let's you put them on an external hard drive. I recently backed mine up as my drive is older than the Wii U. Treated it to a nice 900GB SSD, so while I understand what you are getting at with digital, if you are prepared, it isn't the issue. Many physical games ship broken and barely playable, requiring day 1 patches, so if eshop ever does go the way you are implying, then most physical games won't be playable or run badly without the update. So in that respect Digital is actually better for games collection long term, as you can control were you put the data.
I have been waiting a while for Doom Eternal, but seeing the price and how "late" it has arrived is just disappointing. Will wait until it is on sale I am afraid. Thank you Panic button for porting it, regardless.
Ubisoft, do this with the charm and expertise of Rayman. Cut the £84.99 with DLC malarky(flat £50), and try to keep bugs on the low key. Rayman already has a world to explore , and it hasn't been done with as much 3D love as assassin's creed, well, ever.
@Jedge396 it is good, infact it is incredible sometimes. However it didn't compel me to play it as I didn't actually get on with the controls. I'll admit it, I was rubbish with them like I was with Metal Gear Rising Revengence. It is odd, because I was fine with W101, Bayo 2 was a joy to play as was Transformers and even Star Fox Zero (which has the most divisive control s ever created-i love them). I will have to give it another go as I got it for £30 last year and lost interest a few hours in, because the controls didn't click. But everything else about the game was pure Platinum awesome.
Okay I know how Nintendo can make their sales feel different from the competition. These deals aren't as strong as on some other platforms (actually every other current platform). They need to use the voucher system to their advantage. Say everyone with an NSO subscription gets 1 game of their choice at 75% off. Then these deals are just the sweetener for the money you saved. This keeps players invested in the eshop and not spending as much money on other platforms with comparatively better deals.
@Retro_Player_77 over use and over exposure. I really enjoyed some Mario games back in the day, Super Mario Bros 3 was epic when I was a child. Nintendo use him too much, it is like Sega with using Sonic too much, only they don't manage to make as many good games with the character. Fundamentally I dislike Mascots. I prefer Nintendo for it's other IP, likewise with Sega.
They are getting confused by terminology. This "is" Resident Evil Outbreak which was Capcom's series term for co operative (and later online) focused Resident evil. The story may include characters and link to Revelations (which was envisioned as a portable experience, but that went out the window)1 and 2 in some ways. But the fundamentals are a co operative online experience like Outbreak always envisioned. Hopefully it will be a solid entry. If they can get some of the animations used in remake 2 and 3, it'll look and play the business.
@zool I have never seen Dragons Dogma go below £10 here in the U.K. if it went to £6 like it does on every other Platform (including PC), I would have got it ages ago. You are right about Rabbids and Lego tho, despite being good games they are heavily discounted often.
@MS7000 as I recall they did do some discounts last year, unfortunately nothing I wanted digital was on there (usual Capcom games for £3 Resi, street fighter that everyone should already have). Will check out those shops later today as I still regularly play my older consoles. Blasted through Black ops 2 last night. to say DF pooed it for dipping to 26 FPS, literally fast killing everyone with a correctly calibrated wiimote setup will never get old or be "slow".
@Entwickler yeah I am hoping it is a similar price to the current Xbox sale, otherwise I may get it on there. Companies don't realise they are competing with themselves with sales sometimes. A license to play a video game should either, be universally the same price, or let you use the license across any hardware you own.
Sorry Capcom, I may eventually buy some, but they are all too expensive. I just got The Re make of Resident Evil 3 (brill so far) for £16.59 in a sale, and alot of the games above are around £5 elsewhere. I don't think they realise they are competing with themselves for sales sometimes
Civ VI is £14 odd on Xbox but I fancied the Switch version, so good to see that is in the sale. Will check it out on Thursday and maybe others if they are good deals.
Lovely interview, and as a player, I'd love to see all those racers return too. Of course Burnout 1-3 (esp 3) would be amazing too with some remastering.
I still occasionally have a bash on some of the uploaded courses from time to time. There is a huge amount that will still be available. It makes sense to close the upload feature and it was great while it lasted.
I was going to buy it but it got pulled from the eshop. Shame about the performance issues, hopefully they'll iron it out if it ever actually gets released.
A 30th Anniversary compilation of all the F Zero games, on Switch, would actually be fantastic. Include F Zero X with the DD add-on version and F zero AX as well as GX. That would be a fans dream. Of course a remaster of GX with 30 player online would be equally amazing .
That specification is so low, I wonder if Nintendo are courting the idea of actually bringing back some of their older consoles, via a specialist manufacturer. Would love to see a new N64 with slightly tweaked internals so the games could run "better" than ever.

Re: Nintendo Announces Huge Cyber Deals Sale For Europe, Up To 75% Off Top Games
Civ VI is £14 odd on Xbox but I fancied the Switch version, so good to see that is in the sale. Will check it out on Thursday and maybe others if they are good deals.
Re: Feature: Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered Developer On "Restoring And Finishing An Old Painting"
Lovely interview, and as a player, I'd love to see all those racers return too. Of course Burnout 1-3 (esp 3) would be amazing too with some remastering.
Re: Super Mario Maker Online Services To Be Terminated, Will Soon Be Removed From Sale
I still occasionally have a bash on some of the uploaded courses from time to time. There is a huge amount that will still be available. It makes sense to close the upload feature and it was great while it lasted.
Re: Review: Serious Sam Collection - Two-Thirds Enormous Fun, One-Third Crushing Disappointment
I was going to buy it but it got pulled from the eshop. Shame about the performance issues, hopefully they'll iron it out if it ever actually gets released.
Re: The F-Zero Series Is Now 30 Years Old
A 30th Anniversary compilation of all the F Zero games, on Switch, would actually be fantastic. Include F Zero X with the DD add-on version and F zero AX as well as GX. That would be a fans dream.
Of course a remaster of GX with 30 player online would be equally amazing .
Re: Yes, The Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch Can Run DOOM
That specification is so low, I wonder if Nintendo are courting the idea of actually bringing back some of their older consoles, via a specialist manufacturer. Would love to see a new N64 with slightly tweaked internals so the games could run "better" than ever.
