Square Enix has announced it will be releasing a new update for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition sometime between mid and late December. The exact time and date will be revealed as soon as possible.
In the meantime, it's shared some patch notes - revealing how you'll now be able to keep your party together in between dungeon runs. Below are the full details, courtesy of the Square Enix webpage:
Updates scheduled for FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition - mid-to-late December
This is a notice regarding upcoming updates for "FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition" on PlayStation®4/Nintendo Switch™/iOS/Android.
The following updates are planned:
All platforms
- Improvements to the storage function.
- Improvements to the power of focus attacks for Lilty tribe weapons; Laevateinn and Daybreak.
- Timing adjustments being made to Automatic Timeout triggers when no input is made in multiplayer mode.
- Fixing a bug where the player's caravan automatically returns to the region where you played a dungeon in multiplayer mode. Additionally, fixing an issue with the Crystal Chalice element when trapped in a specific area.
- Fixing an issue where a boss's HP gauge cannot keep up with the speed at which it decreases.
- Fixing an issue that occurs when a guest enters a lobby at the same time the host leaves or is disconnected and upon returning to the lobby and completing a dungeon, the original host’s flags are overwritten to replicate the guest's flags.
- Fixing an issue where controls would no longer respond after talking to Tiel Dahl inside a building in Alfitaria.
- Fixing a bug so that flags are reset if objects that spawn a "?" element hotspot have progressed from their default state prior to reaching year 5.
- Fixing a bug where synchronisation fails if a player joins a dungeon in which myrrh drops cannot be collected just as a Boss is defeated.
- Fixing a bug occurring during the boss battle when playing multiplayer in the Daemon's Court, where the saw is activated but does not hit monsters.
- Other minor bug fixes
The following functions will also be updated/adjusted.
All platforms
- Addition of a function allowing the members of a party who have cleared a dungeon together to select an alternate dungeon to play through together on multiplayer mode.
- Changes to loot selection on the results screen so that loot will now be randomly allocated if a selection is not made before the timer runs out.
- Addition of a "Return to the World Map" option when defeated by a dungeon boss.
- Addition of a storage moogle in each town.
iOS/Android
- Improved reaction speed when picking up items inside dungeons.
These updates are scheduled to be released mid-to-late December. We will make an announcement as soon as a specific date and time is decided, so please keep your eyes peeled!
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.
Many fans located in Australia and New Zealand are also waiting to see if the game returns to the local eShop after it was removed in September due to ongoing multiplayer issues within this region.
At the time, Square Enix said sales would be suspended until the issue was resolved. Fingers crossed it returns to the store in this next update. What do you think of the patch notes above? Is it the patch you've been waiting for? Tell us down below.

I guess it's something. Being able to keep the same party to do other dungeons is nice.
Now if they DO make it possible to gather Myrrth and/or do the Moogle letter together, that would be nice. Be tempting to actually give the game a try.
Too bad there's no local multiplayer addition!
Improvements are always welcome nonetheless.
Just let us form a dame part carivan and follow the host player about like the original game... your home town feals pointless by your self... it annoys me as I freekin live the original game...
Hopefully this will mean it's available again in Australia and New Zealand. It hasn't been available since they took it down during the release week.
Still won't fix the only thing that should had been fix, local multi-player.
What's that? No local multiplayer? Then who cares?
@3RedTriangles same, my mate and I were all geared up to play for old times sake and we spent launch night getting booted
No local multiplayer, no siths given.
Since idiotic lazy square enix still refuse to add a LAN option on a PORTABLE CONSOLE, I'll pass on this game and keep in playing on emulator with Mods
You can polish a turd but it’s still a turd.
Have they fixed it so that all party members can complete the story at the same time in multiplayer,
I want this, but not enough to play through it twice so that me and the wife can both complete the story.
What you say? No local multiplayer? Thanks!
No proper multiplayer updates, no dice. It's not rocket science Square.
Still can't journey on a caravan together so who cares?
Fix that first maybe?
It actually seems Square enix had literally no idea, what it was doing when they chose to "remaster" this game. Such a waste of everyone's time.
Being able to change dungeons without starting a new room might make this playable for multiplayer! I still think everyone in the group should get mail instead of just the host.
Well, at least they tried I guess?
I'm straight up delighted that they added the inventory Moogle to every town. Juggling items between characters when you have to travel to the starting town each time is such a hassle.
Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but as someone who has never played the original, I've been enjoying the game just fine. I live with my partner and she has zero interest in playing with me, so I've strictly been playing with friends and randos online. It definitely feels like a GameCube era game, and there is a distinct lack of modern day QoL improvements, but I still dig the vibe it gives off.
Granted, I got to year 11 of 13, and then got Dead Cells, and then Hyrule Warriors, so this has really fallen into the backlog. Hopefully this update will be enough to get me back on the saddle to clear the last stretch.
If looking right there was no english physical cart version of this game as of yet.
