Does beg the question, where are the Metal Gear games? Switch can run every entry and it would make Konami a fair wad of cash releasing them for the system.
Honestly what drivel. Just look at the current games with dynamic res and uneven framerates. A Pro model with a modest CPU bump would iron out 90% of the big Switch games. I understand the "get it to run on the base model" sentiment, but the very idea behind a Pro model would "enhance" the baseline performance to "luxury" level instead of "just playable" which is where alot of games currently reside. It would give a premium option to the customer and would likely go down well with alot of gamers. Then you still have Switch Lite and normal Switch for the more casual who are "fine" with the current performance.
Try the demo and see if you like it, doesn't get simpler than that. I'm glad I.O bothered as it'll get more exposure on Switch than on XS and PS5 due to install base. So people interested can try it for themselves. XS has a problem at the moment needing X1 and PC players to propup the player base. I don't think i've played a single new game without PC players in. It's good, but it also shows the weakness of new hardware in the launch period.
I'll just say how dissappointed i was with Wind Waker HD. To recreate that game and still have Links elbow clip through his shield as he runs, is my idea of complete incompetence. Nearly as annoying as the divot in Samus's chest plate in Metroid Prime 2, but that isn't visible for 90% of the game like Links magical elbow. Which is what i will always call Wind Waker. The Legend of Link's Magical Elbow.
@meeto_1 they are picking too "clean" a representation of the accent. They should get people who's accent you Cannot understand so that when the words of what they are saying come up on screen, you'll be able to follow them and subconsciously learn the accent and dialect. Putting the education back in and covering up the weakness of the script. Or just have default Nolan North V.O, that used to annoy the hell out of me.
Will keep my eyes on what he comes up with. I actually really enjoyed Devil's Third for the Multiplayer, i still do a run through the silly story mode every now and again too. Yeah it wasn't "great" and the performance clearly needed improving, but the core ideas within the gameplay were fine. Doing a gun slide into a leaping katana slice was always fun though, especially in multiplayer.
That's an interesting inclusion. It summons up the thought that they purposefully slowed the Wii U game to make it appeal to as wide an audience as possible (to push Wii U to a more casual audience that were not biting/nor ever really did). Now they have the "big" audience they wanted, they made it snappier and a little harder like perhaps they originally wanted.
Capcom see's numbers of downloads MHR demo got, then realises, "possible gold mine on Switch!? Best rush that Resi Switch project we had on the back burner the last 4 years".
Got this straight away but found it fiddly, will definitely give it some time. However it really just made me wish we had a proper Rainbow Six game, planning phase and oh my gosh, doors.
@Primarina well the lag to me may have something to do with the quality of the animation, it felt more "sluggish" to play than other versions of MH. Yeah i'll admit even i skipped the original X1, you could tell they'd both fumbled out of the gate trying to release something in a competitive time frame.
Looks and runs fine. There appears to be a little bit of controller delay, but you can get used to that minor quirk in time. It doesn't run as nicely as MHU 4 on new 3DS, but that is a special case with lesser visuals. I've seen some comments slating MH Worlds performance? I have an X1S it runs smoothly with annoying pop in, that's it. My X1X runs it at 60, no dips, same silly Pop in. My X series S runs it flawlessly with negligible pop in. There is nothing wrong with MH Worlds performance, at least on xbox.
While i appreciate the "ports" Capcom have already brought to Switch (except their pricing being erratic at best), This is Much more like it. Taken over 3 years to get a Third party to make an exclusive to Switch game worth while. I sincerely hope this does very well and encourages other third parties to make some games just for Switch.
Possibly a 1080 display with higher clocks to "reach" for that resolution in handheld. Otherwise it's just 4K A I upscale and streaming like a Shield. Higher clocks in docked so games "reach" their dynamic peaks more consistently. Not even sure Nintendo would charge more for it. This replace the current model at £280, and lower the standard Switch to £220. If anything just to remain competitive.
@BulbasaurusRex a ***** ton of money and hardware to make their next machine do "whatever games" they wanted. And likely make Ninty more amiable to third parties. It was actually a win, win offer, neither had anything to lose at that point.
@BulbasaurusRex no point in letting Nintendo "handle" software if they wouldn't let them choose how best to "handle" software.
Bungie pretty much used MS money and resources to make themselves so rich they could splinter off from MS. Then do exactly the same with Activision. Nintendo would have been in the same position at all points during a buyout by MS, so if MS "didn't" listen, they'd just leave.
It is one thing to be arrogant, it is another to realise a position of strength can be used appropriately.
It would have actually have been a good deal. If you looked at Playstation versus N64, Sony did alot with on paper weaker hardware that was easier to use and the N64 was a hamstrung mess like most Nintendo hardware. Why are we currently looking at Nintendo who ditched their own designs in favour of an Nvidia based machine? (Switch is a Shield). Which ironically was the GPU provider of the original Xbox, which got MS into the market. Nintendo laughed away market share, when they could have pinched a rival in the bud easily. It would still have been Nintendo that had to give the "framework" on what the hardware had to be "capable" of and likely free reign on controller still.
@AndyC_MK84 i totally understood the flak it got, Nintendo dropped the ball. It needed just a bit more "grunt" for the price (or a price cut like 3DS had)another processor core and 10 more watts and it wouldn't have been so hamstrung. If it had done 360 games better than a 360 AND provided gamepad features, it would have stormed it. I knew 3 people who got one at launch, had Black ops 2 "crash" (the dreaded noise of doom which required power off) then return it within 2 days. For the rest of the gen they'd say how ***** it was, despite, low and behold both X1 and PS4 also crashing on them. But just because they had prettier graphics, it was "forgiveable". Also Bare in mind the CoD crowd were the people Needed to help sell the 9 million units.
@AndyC_MK84 the notion of those Switch games being on Wii U was very real. Nintendo made a deal with several publishers "if" they could sell 9 million Wii U's in it's first year it would have got games like, Dark Souls, Metro Last light, Warframe, Sniper Elite 3, Crysis, Ghost recon online (cancelled partly due to it), Rayman would have stayed "exclusive" and Batman Origins.
That didn't happen so funding was pulled and devs focused on PS4 and X1 instead. Fast forward, Switch is a hit, nails sales, all the old Wii U ports and projects appear on it in the first few years to "fill out" the library.
Edit: i have an OG xbox that i think still works, don't use it (even have a few games). It's a U.K one though with the power cable that killed people.
@AndyC_MK84 well i currently play a few games on Switch (liking the Sniper 4 port, well done Rebellion), but i mostly game on my Xbox and my Wii U, i have an SSD full of games for both and shelf full of "old" wii and 360 games which i still razz thru. some of the best destressing arcade games were made for Wii.
The Switch doesn't yet feel like it has any made "for Switch" games, even Age of Calamity looks like it could have run on Wii U or New 3DS with some elbow grease. I am hoping Metroid Prime 4 really changes that situation, or perhaps Bay 3 and No More heroes 3.
Edit: Galaxy 2 is odd as fairly sure that was released in China for Nvidia. The work is done.
One of the most disappointing things i experienced when i was a PC gamer, was getting a boxed copy of Resident Evil 7, to put next to my other Resident Evils, and it turned out to be a code in a box.
@AndyC_MK84 chill your beans. You forgot all the Wii library, Galaxy 2 hasn't made it to Switch for example. Everyone always assumes the Wii U had no games, it had 1000s at launch. But how dare i suggest it.
@AndyC_MK84 yeah the Wii U has access to more and better games than the Switch. There i said it. I haven't actually played anything unique on Switch so far this gen, and most of the time my xbox has a better version. Really hoping Nintendo come up with some exciting Switch games for year four.
@TheFullAndy The Wii U was actually "too much" like the Wii, compatible with all controllers and hampered by it's processor, it could run GC, Wii and Wii U games natively (GC with a easy Hack). But yeah, i hope the Switch remains a constant. In all honesty it should have been the Wii. They should have re marketed Wii U as a better Wii 1 year after launch (when it hadn't done the 9 million)and ditched Gamepad as default controller. Then switch would have played GC, Wii, Wii U and Switch digital libraries without starting from scratch 10 years after Wii.
@TheFullAndy well that is just the thing, if the Wii shop went (Nintendo's best selling home console) then in five years time what will stop the Switch shop being discontinued? 8 years of Wii U is good considering it's failure, however the eshop was Nintendo's attempt at consolidating a modern digital eco system. They even designed the Wii U to encourage digital gaming, compatible with older HDD and big discounts on digital games the first year of launch. To start to "shut it down", actually is a bad sign for the future of Switch's eco system. Maybe Nintendo will refresh the eshop so Switch is compatible with all the older titles? That was the aim with the Wii U as it "would" have carried over Wii's VC entirely had it been successful. Switch is sat there with hap hazard re releases of some games that would have actually fit perfectly in a VC eshop eco system. It looks like a total mess up to my eyes.
@TheFullAndy these games were also free at some stage or another on Wii U and 3DS (that is how i got the 3DS one). I just think it is sad how digital stores will eventually close over time. I'll have to buy a few last games before they close the service for good.
@Zenszulu they haven't "supported" it for several years. It hasn't been updated and currently the gamepad loses responsiveness after watching anything. This pulling of the plug is them killing an older version of netflix that used to work really well on older devices. God knows why it doesn't work properly now, unless it was intentional.
Damn, i actually used netflix on Wii U alot. The xbox version has the trailers always running, really annoying while you are browsing quickly. I must admit though, the Wii U version has been "unstable" the past year, gamepad becomes unresponsive after an hour or so. I figured it was because it hasn't been updated or looked after.
I take it this was more a formality and a bit of security for Next Level Games going forward. There are alot "better" acquisitions Nintendo could have actually made recently.
@liveswired i'd Expect F zero X, anything above that or comparable to GX would be a bonus. The number of players online has alot more to do with network structure than the raw power of the machine. PS3 did 60 players at launch (resistance) and then got 64 players later with Mag. Switch should be able to easily handle 16 with GX style graphics. My old 800 mhz geforce 3 PC could handle 64 player Unreal tournament matches, looking good for it's day. People just aren't used to seeing it these days.
Like most fans already stated, make GX on Switch, we will buy it. Make a F zero game with 30 players online, we will buy it. Personally F Zero is a perfect fit for BR, it's death race mode is the basis of a BR, i will buy it. F zero GX sold 1.5 million, so there is some appeal and a fan base. If a simple port of GX managed to sell 1 million, at £7.99, that would net £7 million gross. I doubt very much it would actually cost anywhere near that figure to "port" and it would cost comparable to that, to "add" features, by which point the price can be pushed to the £15-20 mark. We will buy it.
@OorWullie a FtP Fatal frame BR would be a good way of introducing people to the series. Survivors surrounded by infinite ghosts, last survivor wins. Stun ghosts with the camera, or momentarily disorient other players with the flash, leaving them vulnerable to the different ghosts. With a suitably spooky set of maps and a variety of ghosts a dev could make a compelling horror BR, with zero need of guns.
@Shiryu yeah i understand. The other games you mentioned all have too high scores as well in my opinion, but as a comparative gauge, yeah DD Neon is about between those. It would rest just above 5 out of 10 on my scale. Seemed mediocre to me unfortnately. I may boot a PS3 up and give it another go sometime.
I have this on PS3 and it was "alright" . Overrated back then, and looks like it is overrated now. Actually gone back to some Wii games, and even some of the 7 out of 10ers hold up very well against todays games.
Was it really 900? I scrolled through them all yesterday, i found two games i was interested in. Samurai Shodown has another 20 days left, and waiting on a review of Hong Kong massacre for Switch. Everything else was pretty meh for me.
The Wii U still has a player base, i still play Blops 2 and Splatoon (still popular in Japan). I occasionally play MH 3 and Mass effect 3 online, but need my friends list to fill those games out. Some of my online friends actually skipped Switch this gen, waiting something a bit more powerful, or simply switching to PC or xbox.
Nooooooo, don't destroy the magic and the myth. Were you not children once? When you'd pretend blind stupid luck was actually skill. Haha those were the days. I'll still time my press, get that 10 and quote Jack Burton "it's all in the reflexes".
@the_beaver yeah i've been waiting for Dragons Dogma to go sub £10 myself. It's constantly on sale on Xbox for £6.49 and i keep nearly buying it on there. I think the 4 games that are properly priced are, Onimusha,Okami, and the two revelations games. Everything else is simply "nope".
@HamatoYoshi yeah i understand that totally. But alot of Switch owners own another console, Switch released 2017, x1 and PS4 2013. Their ancient machines access cheaper games. I have never paid nearly double the price for a portable version of a game my whole life. I won't start now just because it is the "only" option.
@BulkSlash oh that is a bummer. And it isn't a difficult fix their end. Allowing refined customisation of controls should be standard these days. Is there no way to invert the sticks via the Switch controller profiles perhaps? And bypass Capcoms fumble.
@HamatoYoshi in the time these games have been out, in the volume of sales they have been in, surely price parity on sale should be nearly the same by now? Nope still double the price on Switch. Even i haven't got anywhere near the amount of Capcom games i should, and i am a massive fan of RE. (I have one Capcom game on Switch) the sales are missing sales from genuine fans haha.
@Bomberman64 i got MH 3 ultimate on launch day for £40. Quite why the digital version was so expensive i don't know. Sales were so poor they gave me a "free" copy for 3DS (download code). Still play it from time to time and well worth it. I hope they bring back a more streamlined water combat in a World add-on or future game. MH 4 is the peak for myself though.
@BulkSlash are the gyro controls on RE 5 that bad? I had it on PS3 using PS move, and they worked great. Very odd they got Wii, correct, PS3 correct, then flumux the Switch version.

I have this on PS3 and it was "alright" . Overrated back then, and looks like it is overrated now. Actually gone back to some Wii games, and even some of the 7 out of 10ers hold up very well against todays games.
Re: Best Of 2020: All Hail The Game Boy Micro, The Sexiest And Most Impractical Game Boy Ever
I get worse hand cramp from my xbox controller, but each too their own i guess.
Re: Reminder: Nintendo's Huge Festive Sale Ends Today, Over 900 Switch Games Discounted (Europe)
Was it really 900? I scrolled through them all yesterday, i found two games i was interested in. Samurai Shodown has another 20 days left, and waiting on a review of Hong Kong massacre for Switch. Everything else was pretty meh for me.
Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Ports We'd Love To See In 2021
Main game i am looking forward to next year is Mechwarrior 5 console edition. Practically no chance of a Switch Port, but i can still dream.
Re: Video: Are People Still Playing Wii U Games Online? Let's Find Out
The Wii U still has a player base, i still play Blops 2 and Splatoon (still popular in Japan). I occasionally play MH 3 and Mass effect 3 online, but need my friends list to fill those games out. Some of my online friends actually skipped Switch this gen, waiting something a bit more powerful, or simply switching to PC or xbox.
Re: Random: KFC Made A Console, For Some Reason
The Switch is a toaster, so it facilitates Breakfast. KFC console has the chicken chamber for Lunch or Dinner. They are partners.
Re: UK Charts: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Takes Christmas Number One, Four Nintendo Games Hit Top Ten
Crikey Valhalla being number one kind of sums up what a poor year it has been overall
Re: Random: Looks Like You Have No Control Over Mario Party Dice Rolls After All
Nooooooo, don't destroy the magic and the myth. Were you not children once? When you'd pretend blind stupid luck was actually skill. Haha those were the days. I'll still time my press, get that 10 and quote Jack Burton "it's all in the reflexes".
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@the_beaver yeah i've been waiting for Dragons Dogma to go sub £10 myself. It's constantly on sale on Xbox for £6.49 and i keep nearly buying it on there. I think the 4 games that are properly priced are, Onimusha,Okami, and the two revelations games. Everything else is simply "nope".
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@HamatoYoshi yeah i understand that totally. But alot of Switch owners own another console, Switch released 2017, x1 and PS4 2013. Their ancient machines access cheaper games.
I have never paid nearly double the price for a portable version of a game my whole life. I won't start now just because it is the "only" option.
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@BulkSlash oh that is a bummer. And it isn't a difficult fix their end. Allowing refined customisation of controls should be standard these days. Is there no way to invert the sticks via the Switch controller profiles perhaps? And bypass Capcoms fumble.
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@HamatoYoshi in the time these games have been out, in the volume of sales they have been in, surely price parity on sale should be nearly the same by now? Nope still double the price on Switch. Even i haven't got anywhere near the amount of Capcom games i should, and i am a massive fan of RE. (I have one Capcom game on Switch) the sales are missing sales from genuine fans haha.
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@Bomberman64 i got MH 3 ultimate on launch day for £40. Quite why the digital version was so expensive i don't know. Sales were so poor they gave me a "free" copy for 3DS (download code). Still play it from time to time and well worth it. I hope they bring back a more streamlined water combat in a World add-on or future game. MH 4 is the peak for myself though.
Re: Capcom Switch And 3DS Sale Discounts Lots Of Top Games, Up To 75% Off
@BulkSlash are the gyro controls on RE 5 that bad? I had it on PS3 using PS move, and they worked great. Very odd they got Wii, correct, PS3 correct, then flumux the Switch version.
Re: Random: Epic Games Apparently Still Needs Your Help To "Free Fortnite"
Rich people and their "wars". Give peace a chance Epic, and Apple.
