Christ i should have taken up speed running, first time i've bothered seeing something like this an that was how i always did that level as a teenager, the turrets across all levels could be strafe fooled (strafe out, then back, then strafe out while going forward for extra speed). Worked a treat in the jungle too. Facility in 56 seconds was always the hardest for me. Think the world record was 54, which must have taken so much practice to shave off.
Both Sony and Nintendo are too closed minded to see that this is actually good for "gamers" and their users overall. It adds value to the device and creates a bridge where everyone plays together. Bloomin Dreamcast advert vibes
Not sure why it has taken so long for any GTA to arrive on Switch to be honest. Even A sequel to China Town wars would have made sense given the console's sales.
@bryce951 Hmm i will keep a look out. It would be and extra £27.36 plus a possible admin fee. So likely be just over £200, in total. Counteracts the exchange rate a bit more ($240). Cheers for the heads up.
@bryce951 ahh interesting. I shall see what happens. It is $49.99 for the shipping so i actually assume anything hidden is in that as it would only cost me £6 here in the U.K to ship something that small abroad. The £ is quite strong at the moment so the exchange rate is in my favour.
@bryce951 Something like that, surely they'd state in the receipt or terms while purchasing? I had some models from america recently and they didn't have any extra charges ontop of delivery.
@B4L0R_CLUB Ironically the Wii U and 3DS gen let you get games at discount if you owned it on either machine. Not as good as Sony's buy once, own it on your PS3, PSP/Vita and PS4. Nintendo could have easily done a "just for you" offer when buying games already owned on your account from that gen. They've been their old arrogant 90's selves this gen, just because they got lucky by exploiting cheap hardware.
@MS7000 Exactly the same, i've tried twice to get into Xenoblade 2 and bounced hard off it. I still play the original and Chronicles X on my Wii U though, quite enjoy the first 2. Which makes me laugh everytime "insiders" and voice actors say "the second title", because that was X... Not XBC 2.
Epic actually went around alot of British companies showing off their new engine, and trying to get them to "buy in". They even teamed with Namco to try and sell Unreal to that very well known British areoplane engineering company (this one failed at the time). Some of the aspects of Unreal 5 were implemented with feedback from technical illustrators in those fields. Especially with being able to drop massive poly count models into it then manipulate in realtime via the partial render system.
@VoidofLight it would be on PC for streaming purpose, still tied to their NSO sub, and via the Switch and the next console along. Just be an Nvidia powered machine pumping it out at other end, hopefully with a similar spec to Nintendo's next machine.
Edit: signs this is already occuring within Nintendo. Wii games on Shield in china (now being pulled though), PC versions of Monster hunter Rise, W101, Daemon X machina, Fatal frame/project zero. The balls already rolling.
@TheFrenchiestFry companies change over time. If it makes them money, they'll do it. The times are changing. Besides it would be on Nintendo Hardware and still tied to their subs, Switch can access it via streaming, and the Next piece of hardware can run it natively using an Nvidia GPU.
@Strumpan At the very least they will continue the library across to the next console. I'm fairly sure it will be announced in two years, and release in 3, and that inhouse teams are already working on the games, likely a Xenoblade for launch. Improved Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4. The games, Yeah they're out this year, there's not alot left to release next year, then the year after is literally no mans land. All the long term 4-5 years projects are releasing, as you say, Monster Hunters out, No more heroes is out soon, then Shin Megami Tensai, then new Zelda for holiday next year (the final hurrah?/ Cross gen game?). Either way there's going to be a new Xenoblade. I don't think it will be on Switch though. Hardware has held back far too many Nintendo games this gen.
It's on games with Gold on xbox right now...and it's, well it isn't very good. The first two are alot better. I guess it's another game in the library though.
@Strumpan depends where they go with streaming services down the line. Nintendo may have no choice but to properly partner up with Nvidia, to get better performance in future hardware. I was imagining the next Nintendo machine using an Nvidia GPU in the design. Leaving Switch in the portable and possibly streaming space. This gen for Nintendo is ending, just look at the games releasing.
@Strumpan Xenoblade Chronicles X is still impressive, i'd love a sequel, but not on Switch. Something with a little more power would really do the series justice, having subtle details like physics based interactions during the animations would round out the experience and immerse the player totally in the world and combat. A PC based version running on Nvidia's newer GPU'S would totally be brilliant.
Well she refers to the definitive edition of Xeno blade chronicles as "the second", so she may not even realise there's already been, Xenoblade chronicles X, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Xenoblade chronicles 2 and Torna the Golden country. However it is likely there will be another as that is ultimately Monoliths bread and butter at this point.
The greater the surface area in contact with the hands, the easier it will be to hold. So in that respect, they've nailed it. Impressive for a first attempt at a handheld.
The switch is unfortunately one of those handhelds were i get cramp in my hands if i play portable longer than an hour. Thank god you can take the joy con off, otherwise it would be a dismal handheld. I much prefer using the Wii U gamepad (with the better battery) in a previous gen comparison. The Steam deck looks right up my ally.
@BloodNinja Yeah i've barely touched the Switch this year. Looks like Nintendo are intentionally "dropping off" while XB and PS5 gain traction. Then will try and "go hard" again in a year to try and really break records. Actual new hardware is in the works for sure, likely late next year or the year after. They are in a strong position money wise.
No, that totally looks like someone's fiddled the market. Shares are low as Nintendo announce they are buying shares back? How convenient. If anything share prices should go up to rinse more money from the buy back. The price will go back up after the buy back regardless, so it's all in Nintendo's favour.
Loved the Super gameboy and GBA player. I often wish Nintendo released the opposite for Switch, a Dock you plug the Switch into, that helps it to play games at high res, solid framerates and access to all past Nintendo console libraries.
Maybe they'll release the Wii ports on Switch (at a reasonable price?). It is a shame the partnership hasn't been fully capitalised on. Nintendo have kind of just used the cheap production and refined SDK tools then both companies are hovering in limbo, not prepared to solidify the partnership. Nvidia Now should be on Switch and more Switch games should be added to that service. The option of streamed Breath of the Wild at 1080p , 60fps with RTX would make the service sky rocket in popularity. And make the power of Switch totally mute, as it still runs the games handheld natively (just).
Any word on how much this is? I only put off getting it on Wii U because it never shifted from £39.99. Got a 1TB SSD for Wii U an have to mess about with space on Switch. If it's £20-30 on Switch that might swing it.
Afraid to say, the demo totally turned me off this game. The art style seemed bland, animations pedestrian and uninteresting level layouts. Expected a 5 tbh. I have played a few warrriors games and this seemed like a poorer entry. I enjoyed Warriors Orochi 3 hyper and Hyrule. Fire emblem was dull, Fist of the north star 2 was one of the worst games made, gundam was dull. There was a cracking Capcom one on Wii though, Sengoku Basara. Made Samurai warriors 3 look like a part time student project.
Is this a case of Unreal engine strikes back? It really seems a poor fit for Switch. An older engine might have done better, given less effects and lighting but still maintain the style and something playable.
@XenoShaun Nothing political about it. Doom is free, it's tools are free, players grew up with and love Doom, so are happy to make content for something that probably got them interested in the industry in the first place. This is how people treated games in the 90's and early naughties. The principle example of when modding and creating free content became less mainstream was Oblivion with it's horse armour. Previously Morrowind had a massive modding community and people released loads of weapon packs, map tweaks, character packs, creatures, because they loved the game (my brother added loads of weapons and now he is a technical illustrator for example). Unreal and Half life had similar communities, loved Air buccaneers for Unreal 2003/4. Mods were the norm for gamers then.
While i personally am not interested, it is odd how FF is available on Steam and not also on Switch, xbox, PS. I can get it on my Nvidia Shield, but not Switch? So the question of, why not consoles? Is completely valid. Even a FF compilation would make sense, like the Secret of Mana one. Square will always be an odd company.
@Delycache I am actually surprised this article doesn't mention this was already the case in Europe, as i read it here years ago. Okay September 2019, but it has felt like years due to lockdown Haha
The actual not taking credit card payments is a security issue, as they no longer update the consoles. They haven't taken credit card payments on the U.K eshop for years, i have to top up via the Switch (or mobile) then make the purchase on the 3DS or Wii U. The problem is Nintendo have no alternative hardware to support Wii U and 3DS games (yet both were backward compatible). It's like Switch is the first time they are making a net store that can actually carry over. Which is ludicrous when you consider how well they did with the Wii and DS. MS still has the 360 store still going in comparison.
@progx Yeah it'll have storage woes like Switch i already know. However it can connect to a USB C dock, which can connect to a bigger HDD, so you can transfer games as and when, much like Xbox Series S/X right now. Which also have woeful storage. It takes up to 20 minutes to transfer a game across HDD or 2-3 hours to redownload. I know which i prefer already. I totally understand that none of the Steam Decks have what i would class as "adequate" storage. They should have run with at least 2 micro SD slots (i'd have put a bank of 4 on, there cost is negligible). Why they always think 1 is enough baffles me.
Looking forward to playing my Steam games that haven't/won't ever come to console, on the Steam deck. Portable GTFO, i'm in, portable Battletech, i'm in. Then i have my old copy of Witcher 3, Batman games, Resident evil VII and VIII, a choice of Monster hunter World And Rise, Horizon and Death Stranding. The Steam deck will have an awfully strong library of games to access from day one. Exciting times.
Played Warframe since 2013, it has needed this for so long now. Pretty much since PS4 and xbox one ports. I managed to transfer my PC account to Switch (missed xbox window). So my Switch and xbox accounts are stacked with alternate goodies. I hope this update will let me merge my wares and progress, and not just "over write' one account in preference of another. With Steam Deck on the way, i'd love to have everything all in one place.
Sounds like he'll be killing off Samus in this one, unless his intention is to carry Metroid on with other characters and give Samus an "offshoot" series of games (which to be fair, would work).
Literally just reserved a 256GB Steam Deck. A handheld with 16GB of RAM that lasts 3 hours (Vita life span) amazes me. I bet it's a retro emulation beast (might get the cheaper 64GB and use that as a retro deck). Looking forward to it's release.
$50 more than OLED Switch, yet over twice the power (handheld), that is a competitive win in my book. Getting this to play Mechwarrior 5 and Battletech on the Go. Looking forward to this.
Erm, wasn't Metroid built around the feeling of Isolation and dread at it's core? With the exploration the cure to that feeling, discovering new abilities so the player felt capable despite being alone. Thought that was Metroid 101.
My eyes lit up and my heart said "it's happening", at 2 tera flops that puts it into Portable PS4 territory, but running at 720P so 30+ frames per second. It'll be able to emulate the oldies well too (even wii U). Definitely down for this, go on Valve.
I must be lucky, launch joy cons are still fine. I always fully power off and on my Switch, so i don't know if that helps reset neutral every time, which was the classic problem with wireless controllers and also how i resolved a drift on my new 3DS (the only time i ever encountered legitimate drift). My nephew gets drift in his xbox controllers but somehow "fixes" it, usually by cleaning it. I feel sorry for people who get drift often. Joy cons could be more prone to it as when you slide the controller into the switch, it turns on, so if the stick is off, that will be it's new neutral, creating a drift. Having never encountered what other users are experiencing however, who knows.
Knife Edge: nose gunner for N64, proves that stick is the best analogue ever made. I also had a soft spot for P.N.03 on Gamecube. Both games had great concepts but "mediocre" execution.
I've waited a long time for this series. Always wanted a GBA version but nearest place i could get it was Canada so it was like £60 or more at the time. Definitely looking forward to this
@Oppyz666 Yeah they are quality franchises for sure, just very poorly represented on Nintendo consoles, same with Cloud (and Sephiroth) from FF. Smash was a celebration of Nintendo at it's core.
Good inclusions of Minmin and Banjo Kazooie though. I also kind of get the Tekken inclusion as Namco helped dev Smash anyway. Why Terry before a DoA character? Or a Sam Sho character?. It is as if they plucked a random franchise and fighter out of a big hat. So yeah roll on the Clayfighter rep, or body blows, mace the dark age, G.A.S.P, fighters destiny (awesome game), bio freaks, mortal kombat (had better representation than most), bloody roar, the Rock (appeared in more games than Terry has on Nintendo)etc.
Edit: it would be a lovely thing to put Sakurai himself in the game? I'd actually buy the second pack if it was him. Great way to see the game finished.
I'm surprised at some of the inclusions. The last one should really be Waluigi, but it will be some random from another fighting game that has had a single entry on Nintendo consoles....
These sales have been identical since they released on Switch and have never gone into "impulse" but territory. Except for revelations 1 & 2, the rest should be similarly priced.

Knife Edge: nose gunner for N64, proves that stick is the best analogue ever made. I also had a soft spot for P.N.03 on Gamecube. Both games had great concepts but "mediocre" execution.
Re: Super Robot Wars 30 Scores October Switch Release With English Subtitles
I've waited a long time for this series. Always wanted a GBA version but nearest place i could get it was Canada so it was like £60 or more at the time. Definitely looking forward to this
Re: Sakurai Reminds Us There's Only One DLC Fighter Left For Smash Ultimate (Again)
Re: Sakurai Reminds Us There's Only One DLC Fighter Left For Smash Ultimate (Again)
I'm surprised at some of the inclusions. The last one should really be Waluigi, but it will be some random from another fighting game that has had a single entry on Nintendo consoles....
Re: Nine Resident Evil Games Are Currently Discounted Across Switch And 3DS
These sales have been identical since they released on Switch and have never gone into "impulse" but territory. Except for revelations 1 & 2, the rest should be similarly priced.
