Insiders were right, here’s to a direct for next week then!
Jesus not again. I am sure some of these games could be good, even great but Nintendo fans are screaming out for some gaming news. The PS5 reveal was incredible, and Nintendo needs to give its fans something bigger.
Skipped the last one, but I might tune in for this. Been a while since I bought an Indie on the Switch. Hoping for more news on Axiom Verge 2.
It may not be an actual Direct but I'll take what I can get until the next Smash fighter is announced, or information on the Crown Tundra for Pokemon whichever comes first.
Are they going to get that female narrator to say rouguelike 50 odd times again? I felt bad for her last time.
Hope we see some good interesting games.
@MasterJay It's not a direct, its an Indie World, no way the same.
Will Smash be on this indie direct? That's the important question.
@Captain_Toad Is Smash an Indie game?
I'll tune in to see whats in store on the indie front, but was hoping we would get a general direct soon
Meow, meow, meow, arf, arf, arf (or neaow, gav -yeap, Greek dogs do gav- in my country).
That's how the moaning from some comments up there for what Nintendo does and doesn't is heard like through my ears.
Release date for Hollow Knight: Silk Song please!
Hooray, indies do what Nintendon’t! Looking forward to hopefully hearing more about Sports Story and Silksong.
I'll take it! I love indie games! I just wish the direct comes soon.
@Bunkerneath I don't think that's what @MasterJay meant. I believe so called "insiders" claimed that an Indie World would be happening this week, followed by "something bigger" (I think it was alluded to being another Direct or something) happening a week later.
Silksong to release Same day plzzzzz
I suppose Gods and Monsters would be hopimg for too much
Bring on Baldo!
Will tune in to see the 8 new roguelikes and 5 new card battle games
Exciting news. After the major general Directs, the Indie World ones are my next favourite thing. There's always some cool, interesting stuff shown.
Something like Cadence of Hyrule, please.
For real, ever since Mario + Rabbids and Cadence of Hyrule, I just want to play crossovers.
Ah, and zeldas
Love Indie showcases. Hmmm...No More Heroes 3 maybe?
Wow, Indie games direct.
Hopefully something 3D games from the Direct.
I'm not interested by 2D Metroidvania style / 8 or 16 bit style games.
Crossing my fingers for Silksong news
So a Partners Direct and now an Indies Showcase...
A full Direct is coming sooooooon.
Cool. Not expecting to hear about World of Horror for a while, but, from what I recall, Baldo was supposed to be out this Fall, so I'm expecting to hear more about that.
Silksong!
Cuphead DLC!
Axiom Verge 2!
Breath of the Wild 2!!
...oh whoops. Got carried away.
Perhaps a No More Heroes 3 release date? It was announced in a Indies Showcase as well.
Also, release dates for Hollow Knight Silksong and Axiom Verge 2, please.
Ah, any surprise Ori 2-kind-of-stuff would be pretty good indeed too.
And to finish the show, an announcement of a Nintendo Direct two days later, on the 20th. Thank you.
@Bunkerneath Yeah, exactly what Reprise said, hopefully if the rumors of this were true, then we get the “something bigger” next week. Which might be a direct. I wouldn’t refer to an indie showcase as a direct, as they are two very different things, and I don’t understand the people who do.
@Cosats oh and there will be more to come. 😄
20 mins isn't anything to get excited about when they couldn't produce much in 10 mins with bigger developers
@damien33ad
I want to believe, but I'm worried this Indies showcase IS his wildcard Nintendo event.
@Anti-Matter I agree... I'm so tired of "ironic" 8 bit and 16 bit looking Indie games... I would rather play real retro games. Why not some new 3D platformers or 3D fighting games on the Switch? Or something original like Untitled Goose Game? And please no more "metroid-vania" or "rogue-like" either ... enough is enough.
Sorry but I have to laugh 😂
Everyone expecting a Direct and they come up with that.
And, please, don't get me wrong as I like indie games as much as the next gamer but come on.
Yessssss there’s some pretty big indies bubbling at the moment. Would love to hear about updates on silksong, skatebird, I’m dead, fall guys on switch etc. fingers crossed!
Deltarune Plz. (not gonna happen but would love a chapter two)
#shantaeforsmash ❤️💜
@Clyde_Radcliffe I would like a new 3d indie game like fall guys.
@Clyde_Radcliffe PREACH
Switch Pro announced next week!!
I know many wanted a regular Direct (which hopefully we'll get soon), but many times these Indie World Showcases turn out to be more exciting for me.
Good news. Sports Story release date would be appreciated. I really hope it makes this year still.
In terms of a general Direct... I mean these are near impossible to predict even at the best of times.
I could go on... but the reality is, these are very strange times. We just have to trust Nintendo have a solid plan, and take heart in the fact BotW2 IS at least real and will arrive one day!
@LastJediKnight7 @Captain_Toad Well we got Sans and Cuphead as Mii Costumes, Shovel Knight as a Assist Trophy and Shantae as a Spirit, so way not?
Please for the love of God update Sports Story and Axiom Verge 2
@SpiderSquid While true, they weren't announced in an Indie Showcase nor would they be.
It's really funny how we've been expecting a normal Direct, and Nintendo keeps showing this things nobody asked for 🤣
Anyways, I'm glad we're getting some news about the games that are coming to Switch, I hope to see Silksong, and Starbound!
Silksong
Sports Story
Retromania
Layers of Fear 2
Playdead's new game
Other than Retromania, I think my list is exactly the same as last time.
@Slowdive I hope you are correct 👍
And I also hope they have something really special to show to us.
Well Sports Story just got delayed so that will not be in the Showcase.
Finally some info about Breath of theWild 2 and Metroid 4. #hyped
Please Team Cherry, Hollow Knight Silksong to save 2020 for my Switch, Nintendo has been horrendous this year
You guys remember Nintendo Directs? Those were the days
Pikmin 4 or riot.
Amongst the mixed reactions lemme just say
HELL YES!! I'm just as excited for this as for a general Direct! I can't wait, the last one had sooo many interesting titles!
Since we got Castle Crashers a while ago - Battleblock Theater would be nice at some point haha
These are not the announcements you were looking for. You can go about your business. Move along.
@damien33ad
Basically I love everything you said, but I got the felling that Nintendo is doing everything they can to discredit all the Insiders. Before they released the Partners Showcase, some Insiders were saying that a Direct was imminent, and Mario fans would love it...
So Nintendo made the announcement a day before, and it turned out it was a Partners Showcase, and that means no Mario. After the Direct everybody was complaining about the Insiders, while they were saying Nintendo changed it's plans at the last moment. At the end both Insiders quit.
It's just a theory, but, knowing the story Nintendo and the Insiders have, it doesn't sounds so stupid...
I read some people their comments on Twitter and holy s***.
That very small, very loud super fanboyish Nintendo group that only cares about Smash annoys the heck out of me, we should be happy we get games on the Switch, the world it more than smash and bashing anything but Smash is stupid.
And the worst thing, that super super small group is so loud that other people conclude everybody is like that, so annoying.
As for the stream, I wonder what they will showcase.
@Cevil An update has been given... It's delayed as of this morning with no new release window.
@Rayquaza2510
It's Twitter, what else did you expected? 😂
But yeah they're really annoying, and, as you said, that gives the wrong impression to other people...
God i couldn't care less
Fall Guys or nothing else.
I need updates on:
-Hollow Knight SilkSong
-Axiom Verge 2
-Cyber Shadow
As long as I have any of these, I'm happy.
An announcement of the Delicious Last Course DLC for Cuphead would be most welcome!
Once that final DLC is out we finally may get a physical release for the game and I will get to play it!
Awesome. Another fake Direct where we will see a whole lot of nothing. This is just what everyone wanted.
@King-X That game looks so awesome!
PLEASE announce a release date for Baldo!!!
I'd like to hear more about Axiom Verge 2.
Sooooowwww, indies, pikmin 3, and that 'other' direct out of the way... can't wait for the Nintendo Direct!
Give a quick shoutout to Volta-X which is a great game, dropped last week, and apparently (per the leaderboards) <100 people bought. SUCH A SHAME!
@Benjinat I agree too. I think Nintendo is trying to combat these leaks with changing everything last minute to surprise everyone and get more fans to not be disappointed with what is going to be announced.
But anyway, I guess congrats for people who like indie games. I don't like indie games so I will sit this one out. I have a crap ton of backlog games to play anyway.
Silksong available tomorrow
I have played many more indies since the Switch launched, part of that has to do with being im college and prefering shorter experiences. I'm pretty pumped.
God I can't wait for the angry babies posting about how mad they are that the indie game presentation didn't have BotW 2/3D Mario/Smash DLC announcements
I can't think of any indie games that I would like to play but we'll see.
Disco Elysium is the main game I’m waiting for.
Hoping for Silksong date and news on Eastward and (hopefully) Witchbrook Switch announcement 🤞
Hell yeah, Indie Worlds are awesome! Can't wait!
@Slowdive nice profile pic!
Certainly interesting & looking fwd to it - but we want a non-Indie one too!
sigh I want to hear about Nintendo games. I don't care much about these third party presentations.
Always hoping for a little Fire Pro Wrestling! I'll definitely be watching.
So here's what today's announcement tells me. Remember as far back as mid-July when we were speculating about Nintendo was going to do the rest of the year? Well, around that time the rumor of the day was Nintendo was going to have 2 Direct-like events in August and September. A smaller one for August and the alleged really big show in September. Those who were banking on that rumor are looking more and more right today. Thanks and until next time I am out!
I'd love to get a Silk Song release date!
@damien33ad lol next month for a direct
Screw all the naysayers, it’s always a welcome bonus to be receiving more quality indie titles from top developers. Bring on the presentation!
@Ralizah Baldo was scheduled to release this summer according to the last Indie. So hopefully it’s playable right after the direct 🤞
"Before you leave, we have one more surprise announcement: Nintendo Switch 2 releases tomorrow, free upgrade if you already have any Nintendo system. Also, Nintendo is the New World Order and resistance is futile by this point. Fun is the new global currency, and Nintendo owes it to the people, not the other way around. No animals will ever be harmed anymore. That's it for this indie showcase."
Anything less will make it the worst Direct ever. My pitchfork is sharpened, my torch is lit.
Baldo and silksong let's go!
This doesn't make up for the no Nintendo Directs.
Bad timing for me again. Guess I'll be catching the news after the fact. I admittedly don't pick up a ton of Indies (time constraints mainly; most full retail titles usually keep me busy), but many of the ones I have played have been welcome additions to my Switch, Wii U, and 3DS libraries.
Salty Nintendo consoomer's tears are a delight.
@MasterJay Hopefully yay! But I wish they'd give some more notice so we can all start to get our hopes up!
I'm expecting a decent number of Apple Arcade games since its one-year exclusivity deals are about to expire soon.
Monster Train will come for Switch.
Witchbrook gets a trailer and Chucklefish has two other games for Switch.
Spiritfarer gets a date.
Other than that it's just a lot of new very low key games.
@CupidStunt a console that's too big for your TV stand with a £500 price tag and a rerelease of a PS4 game as its launch title doesn't inspire much excitement.
This time next year, sure but will you really buy one this Christmas? For the record we can apply the same logic to the Xbox Series X.
No doubt Nintendo have some decent titles brewing away for the holidays but it's probably waiting for debugging to finish before announcing anything in case it has to delay them.
I wonder if B.ARK might be available for download directly after the presentation, it was shown at the last Indie World.
Two games i would like to see are Mecha Ritz and Crimzon Clover World Explosion, but japanese games rarely get shown at Indie World.
@Slowdive Oh yes! 😎
I don't have the highest hopes for all this talk of Mario / Zelda rereleases (for the next big thing I mean, not the Indie Direct).
That may have been Nintendo's plan at one point but I think they bet the farm on a theme park, at the absolute worst time in history that they could have done so.
Didn't that insider say the Mario 3D All Stars would be like a kind of cross promotional celebration type deal? I can't imagine they're feeling all that celebratory right now...
@Anti-Matter Yes half of indie games seem to be metroidvania 8/16 bit games, zero creativity.
Factorio for Switch, please.
@CupidStunt
Watch out. The fanboys will attack you because how dare you expect a company to put out product.
I almost never watch a Direct live, I definitely won't watch this one. Those a..holes at Nintendo should deliver new games, first party games. Everyone who thinks the same should boycot this Direct. Not that it helps one bit, but there you go. Nintendo? More like Willy wa...r and the chocolate factory!
....Last one very boring...why can't we just have a normal Direct? Why is Nintendo randomly being silent all of the sudden? :/
@Cevil yassss. Sports Story... available now??? Please oh please
@Juga Dragon’s Crown Pro, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir and Muramasa Rebirth. We need some Vanillaware on Switch. Not overly interested in 13 Sentinels though.
Have definitely bought a few games from these directs. Into the Breach is still one of my favorite strategy games despite the Indie direct being 2 years ago!
@GiygasAF I have had it a lot already.
I'd like to see Persona 5 on the Switch and for Silksong to come out
And still no direct 😂
Another Indie World Direct (I mean Showcase).
I would rather have another Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, even though I had like no interest in any of the games (except for CoH, possibly)
@Clyde_Radcliffe
I would say that 3D Platformers are starting to make a comeback, there has been Yooka Laylee, New Super Lucky's Tale, A Hat in Time, Fe, RiME, Snake Pass, etc.
Here are some other 3D platformers that I haven't listed in the video below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQnjhia_sOA&feature=youtu.be
Looking forward to this more than another partner showcase.
@nmanifold @Anti-Matter
Yeah, I agree your 2D Metriodvania comments
@CupidStunt
No, the PS5 reveal was mediocre at best, but not as bad as the Series X.
Get ready for some boring games, I truly believe metroid prime 4 will not be released until December of 2022, I think zelda breath of the wild 2 which will probably have a different title wont be released until February next year
Cool, I’ll try and watch this. Always some good stuff in these Indie showcases.
@CupidStunt
“ The PS5 reveal was incredible”
I thought it was decent and nothing more. I’m sure I’ll get one at some point (because it’s a Playstation and I always do) but not hugely impressed with what they’ve shown so far. XBSX is slightly ahead in my eyes because of BC, improved XB1 games and Game Pass but still nothing too amazing. Think all the platform holders are struggling a bit for various reasons, not least the obvious Pandemic.
I hope that it is more than 4 announcements . Fall guys on PS4 is awesome. It would be great for the Switch crowd.
Cool beans, these indie directs always being attention to some good little gems that would otherwise get lost in the shuffle.
After watching the latest State of Play, I felt this was needed alongside a new Nintendo Direct but I don't even know if one is happening this month either. That would make the schedule for this month the same as March's.
Well I hope there is something here that captures my attention, but I feel they also need to clarify release dates for some games from the last ones such as Sky: Children of the Light and Axiom Verge 2.
@xpownz How about EA Sports crossovers with Mario like they did on the Gamecube? I'd love to see Mario & Co look really look weird against realistic sports players again...Waluigi in UFC would be something.
hmm. WB is announcing something Batman related for tomorrow. It could be info on that new Batman Court of Owls game, which Switch would not be powerful enough to handle. Or maybe they could announce Batman: Return to Arkham for Switch, which includes Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. Would be awesome to revisit those on the go.
@electrolite77 Game Pass and BC are awesome. That is something that both Sony and Nintendo could learn from.
I hope this is only a prelude to a General Direct.
Fall guys... please... that is all ☺️
@RasandeRose But infinitely better than anything Nintendo has shown this year because they have not shown anything. Watch that presentation again in 4k and Horizon 2 looks like the next leap in gaming graphics. I am a Nintendo fan through and through but that trailer was spectacular, as was Ratchet and Clank, Spiderman and Demon's Souls. You can say that they are sequels and remakes but that would be incredibly hypocritical coming from a Nintendo fan (myself included). There were new games to like Jade and Stray, Resident Evil 8 and so on. It was a reel of games and it was great.
Sliksong release date please!!! I'm so excited for that game.
@CupidStunt
Well, Nintendo got surprise releases this year and Sony/Microsoft does after all have new consoles incoming, so you would expect them to have all release games+ some upcomings to show. So far, hype for next gen are at a minimum, with both Microsoft and Sony underdelivering with their showcases. PS5 games, nothing that I would see as a clear generation leap and Microsoft showcases so far are at best at a Nintendo Direct mini-level, with most games looking like Xbox 360-generation and w/o Halo at launch, I think Series X will have a even bleaker launch window than Xbox One had. With this minimal next gen-hype, Nintendo should have smooth sailing this upcoming holidays.
ALWAYS INDIE GAMES! And they're all the same. 8-bit platformers, simulation games, puzzle games and RPGs. Devs always choose the easiest genres. I'll say it again, Nintendo sucked since Iwata died. I feel Nintendo doesn't even care anymore at this point.
@the_beaver these are all my top picks as well! Then iga announcing a Bloodstained RotN sequel.
I can't believe that I say this ... but ... don't we have more then enough indies on the Switch already?
I was really hoping for a partner Showcase.
@TheFullAndy The only game I even care about anymore!
fingers crossed for new Silksong info
Yes! Hopefully Fallguys will be announced. I’m always excited to see what indies games are coming to the switch though. I do want a real direct though but this will do for now.
@Bunkerneath
Indie World Showcases are classified as Nintendo Directs in some websites. FEH Channel and Dragalia Digest also fall under the same category.
@Bermanator
May I recommend that you sell your Switch and jog on then?
@Bermanator LMAO Imagine not understanding anything and thinking like that.
@Bermanator everything you said is true
@geni53yr7
Or in actual fact it is a load of balls.
@TheFullAndy the full Andy doesn't appreciate anyone on here which isn't full of Nintendo kool-aid
@sixrings
No I just don't appreciate people spouting rubbish.
Which is why I don't appreciate you much bud.
Edit: Also why were you talking about me to me in your comment? You aren't the sharpest are you.
Who cares. Why is Nintendo still not showing anything besides stuff like this? The next gen of consoles is right around the corner and switch owners have what to look forward to? Anyone know? Anyone?
But no worries there is indie games coming, just like every flippin week.
Sir the fans are looking a bit riotous, we ought to give them some news
Yes yes just throw them another indie presentation n that should tide them over
Baldo, Pixeljunk Eden 2, Hollow Knight 2, OceanHorn 2
Come on! Shadow drop one of these bad boys, please! Only a little summer left!
CYBER SHADOW OR I RIOT
@Bermanator What genre would you make, with your CLEARLY in-depth computing and programming skills?
@electrolite77 BC? You mean backwards compatibility? According to the Playstation blog, the PS5 will be fully BC with 1700 PS4 games. Also, Xbox presumably is NOT getting Demon's Souls, so I will be getting whatever system that comes out on lmao.
@TG16_IS_BAE
Has it been confirmed the PS5 is fully BC with PS4? (I assume 1700 games is pretty much them all)
Because up til now Sony have been fairly evasive about it.
Great news if so!
@ACNHislit
“ I would rather have another Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, even though I had like no interest in any of the games (except for CoH, possibly)”
CoH was originally announced through an Indie World direct. So you would prefer a partners showcase even though the only part you joined was dlc for a game that was in the supposedly weaker presentation.
@TheFullAndy This is where I read it, not sure if the info has been updated, but I got the number wrong. It's 4,000 games lmao
https://blog.playstation.com/2020/03/18/unveiling-new-details-of-playstation-5-hardware-technical-specs/
@TG16_IS_BAE
😀 That’s cool, I wish I had one game pushing me towards one system or the other.
Yeah backwards compatibility is a big deal. I’ve got a big Xbox library now across three generations and full BC including improvements to some games (and Game Pass) is a real selling point to me.
@TG16_IS_BAE
Happy days!
This means I can move the PS4 from under the TV to make room for its younger brother!
@Dman10
Yeah they could. Nintendo especially could use their huge back catalogue to offer a GP type system through emulation. Not the current drip feed onto Switch Online. Seems a missed opportunity to me.
@electrolite77 That's amazing! I wish Nintendo was better with BC, but, uh, their systems don't play nice with each other lol
@TheFullAndy Yippeee!!
As a sidenote, why the f does everyone keep expecting Directs from these people? LET THEM MAKE THEIR GAMES AND BE PATIENT
@electrolite77 It would be interesting if Sony or Microsoft did it too, actually. I've skipped generations of hardware for real world reasons, and would be very interested in a NSO NES/SNES style solution for XB/PS.
Funnily enough, I think the most likely company to license its titles for that kind of service is Sega, a la Mega Drive classics.
Does Disco Elysium count as an indie?
God I hope so
Would be nice to get another look, and maybe a release date, for Eastward. I wouldn't say no to a little Silksong action too. Everything else is a delicious cherry on top (hopefully).
Recently replayed Deadly Premonitions 1 and jumped immediately into Deadly Premonitions 2. Currently in a big Swery mood, so I'm hoping The Good Life gets dropped immediately after the presentation tomorrow.
Hoping for updates/release dates for:
I would love for some games like Jet Lancer and Panzer Paladin to announce physical releases.
Would be interesting to see if Nintendo announces any 1-year or longer exclusivity deals with bigger Indies like Silksong.
Like others have said, I wonder if some bigger names like No More Heroes 3 might be dropped at the end. Does Platinum Games count as an indie if they self-publish their own game?!
@Dman10 : I could see those older Batman games announced in a big direct ( I'm guessing September). That would be sweet on the Switch.
@TG16_IS_BAE If I had the skills, a shmup in the style of Space Invaders Extreme.
I just don’t want another Indie World Showcase. I want Nintendo to give us something. I’m sorry about being negative. I think I’m finally cracking under this COVID thing.
@TheFullAndy No. I am holding onto in hopes for a game that interests me. If nothing comes out during its lifespan, I'd probably mod it. All I really have right now is Animal Crossing, but I am still waiting for gyroids to return.
@TheFullAndy Tell me, bub. How many indie games are not platformers? The only indie game I really care for is Dusk, but I am sticking to the PC version.
@Nemesis666 I just don't understand why they think F-Zero isn't a good idea for the Switch. GX had trouble selling because of bad marketing and being on the ill-fated GameCube. It would most likely sell very well due to the ever growing interest in the franchise thanks to Smash, and the fact it would be on a system with over 60 million units sold. I mean if it is just GX with an online track creator/downloader and online multiplayer + CPUs in multiplayer, I would be more than happy to push forward 60 bucks for it.
If only Nintendo knew.
They would not be giving us long droughts like this, if they were to bring back VC and reboot dead franchises like F-Zero, PilotWings, Wave Race, Mother, Star Fox (done right) and more. It's not like if they fail that they are doomed to bankruptcy, they've got loads of money.
@Shambo I hope they also announce the end of torture and the death penalty in the direct!
@Bermanator
Lots of indies are not platformers, I mean you stated that yourself: "simulation games, puzzle games and RPGs"
I'm pretty happy with Nintendo releases this year. Animal Crossing, Clubhouse Games, Paper Mario, and Pikmin 3 Deluxe are all fun games. There's also been a ton of fun games from others, for example Lonely Mountains Downhill, Jet Lancer, Burnout Paradise, Doom 64, the patches improving Doom 1 & 2, Rise, and Grid Autosport, Sky Racket, Streets of Rage 4, Crysis, and many more...
But I want to say what I want on Switch! Advanced Wars, or Switch Wars or Super Famicom or Gameboy Wars, Mario Golf, F-Zero, 2D Metroid, older 3D Zelda games running at 60fps, Warioware Switched Up, a new 60fps Stunt Race game, 1080 and Avalanche running at 60fps on Switch, Waverace 64 and Blue Storm at 60fps on Switch, a new or old remastered Pilotwings game on Switch, a new Kirby's Dream Course game on Switch, Orbient and all the old artstyle games from Wii and DS brought over to Switch, Konami's awesome Powerful Pro baseball games brought to the West on Switch (don't want MLB teams, just English translation of the current 2020 game), Rhythm Heaven on Switch, etc
@TimboSlice
Volta X looks like great fun and another example of why I love indie games so much - they can just scratch some very niche itches that AAA studios sadly can’t be bothered with. I always find something tempting in these Indie World presentations.
That said, I’m waffling on Volta - I’d like to see it reviewed here, plus the eshop listing says it requires a constant internet connection to play! Is there truly no offline mode?!
What would be really, really, really great........Team Cherry decides to ghost drop Silksong tomorrow, But I would settle for a release date.
Sludge Life is something that kinda vanished after it's announcement. Might get some of that this evening.
I wonder what will be considered the big hitters in this one. :3
@AJWolfTill I love your profile picture, it's practically blasphemous...
@CupidStunt the PS5 reveal was lame as it gets. Nothing new shown and still a lack of caring about it's customers.
@Dirty0814 I don't understand that? Sony showed game after game after game for all age groups. And on a care about customers note, they have incredible sales and discounts. Nintendo has shown no new Direct in over a year, out of 4 games released (including Pikmin 3) in a year, 2 are re-releases, one is on its 3rd release in a short space of time. They have abysmal sales, overpriced games, including higher priced Indie games than other consoles, will not allow cancellation of digital pre-orders and the have only just now taken ownership of Joycon drift. I am a huge Nintendo fan, more so than any other developer, but I think you have got confused by which company has shown the lack of care for its customers.
@RasandeRose I would suggest you go back and rewatch the PS5 trailer again in 4k as the live stream was not great. Ratchet and Clank, Horizon and Jade shwed a massive increase in generational graphics. Much better than even my high end PC has produced. Horizon was jaw dropping.
@TG16_IS_BAE
Nintendo used to do it didn’t they? GBA, Wii, DS, Wii U, 3DS all had it.
Switch should going forward, at least Digital Compatibility. I don’t think they’ll release anything other than more powerful Switch versions for a while. They could do a Digital one now if they got Emulators working but....that’s not happening is it?
@okimoki Thank you, always good to hear from another of the Funyarinpa's favoured children. 😉
@shazbot
I’m surprised Sony have let their back catalogue drift. Even if they just got their own first party games from all their previous Consoles working that is a lot of games. They could use them either as a NSO-type thing or to compete with GP (especially as they have streaming up and running too).
MS I suppose will say Game Pass is the way to play Retro games
@CupidStunt
Your 1st sentence in that reply tells pretty much how much of an anticlimax the showcase actually were; I have to watch it again to magically get impressed from shrugging my shoulders the first time watching?
The 3 minute Horizon cinematic was zero gameplay and the trailer didn't show anything that I wouldn't take as PS4 graphics, about the same with Ratchet and Clank. It was not as bad as Halo Infinite, that looked like Xbox 360, but it certainly didn't show any generation leap. Idsay that whats shown so far of next generation doesn't even reach the most graphically advanced games on a PS4 Pro.
Actually, whats shown of next-gen consoles so far is a bit of an embarrassment from a technical-hype point-of-view. I think thats the main reason that there seems to be a general lack of hype for the next gen consoles.
Both Sony and Microsoft are running short of time showcasing their next-gen systems. Nintendo is in a better seat as they don't need to build up hype long-term before hand to sell a new expansive system. They can do a Direct in october and be just fine.
@electrolite77 Does GamePass have retro games on it? Sorry, I haven't played my XbOne in ages, but my understanding is that it's a relatively fixed list of 100 games with new titles periodically rotating in and out? (and obv including all MS first party titles)
That said, I would love a legal Virtual Console on Switch. Have some dreamcast games I miss...
Man i just need an old port instead of making a new games with old 2d pixel jeez the eshop got too much crap rn
Hoping for more details on Silksong, but either way the indie showcases usually have something decent on offer.
Ohh, love this! makes me excited for new little gems
@shazbot
Sort of. Plenty of 360 and OG XBox games.
Switch not having a VC is a constant surprise to me. There’s still a lot of good Retro content on there from various publishers (and that kind of thing is great in Handheld mode because it hides graphical imperfections and the controls are very low lag) but it’s a missed opportunity.
The games I want to show in this nindies show:
*All the rest of Annapurna Interactive stuff like Outer Wilds and artful escape
*The last two Supergiant games, Pyre and Hades
*An amateur surgeon game tailored for Nintendo Switch
*Everything Nitrome shows up
*Hypnospace outlaw, why it should be a great idea to include the option to connect your keyboard and mouse or touchscreen.
*Sky, children of the light
*All the rest of Cyan games like Myst
*Crossover game with Nintendo character
*Updates for upcoming games like Silksong
@Teksetter
Yes- no offline mode, although there is a pretty good single player campaign and story with plenty of side missions that help explain the characters.
It’s not long (I’ve gone through it all) but there are plenty of goals to hit with leveling up each Volta (6 currently available).
Due to the limited player base, I don’t know I can recommend it for $20, but at $10 I’d say it’s a must! I really like the game and sooooooo surprises at the lack of interest.
I fully blame the developers as there is ZERO advertising.
Their Instagram page has literally 2 posts about the game..... so sad.
@60frames-please hat's included in "no animals will ever be harmed anymore"
@GiygasAF Let's see here. @CupidStunt is the one who: called the PlayStation presentation incredible, straight out said indie announcements aren't gaming news, and doesn't understand the difference between a once in a generation console reveal and standard mid-generation information, and used that to spin a narrative. So who's the fanboy?
@electrolite77 You’re right about those, forgot about that! Emulators need to happen
@Shambo Sweet, I can't wait for this Direct!
@CupidStunt
You need to give up on that. Get a PS5 (or a 3080) to play the big games coming (skipping a few $40/$60 ports on Switch pays for it)
Whenever something big (or Indie you want) finally makes it to Switch you play it. But you have a plan B. Make a "balance" of Indies and AAA by owning 2 hardware.
Or hope GeforceNOW, Shadow or Xcloud make it to Switch.
@JimmySpades PMSL. I already said I was a Nintendo fan and I never said that indie games are not gaming news. Anyone who acts butt hurt when someone points out something correct e.g Nintendo not taking ownership of Joycon Drift is what I call a "raging fanboy", someone who is so immaturely blinded by a console manufacturer, they can't see anything wrong with what they do.
Disco Elysium
GreedFall
Trouble Shooter
Plague Tale
Xcom Chimera Squad
Also an update on OTHERCIDE launch for Switch
Would be nice if announced on Switch. Have them on PC and feel they would translate well to Switch
@BongoBongo
I know that was originally announced in an Indie World Direct. I believe it was in the same one that Cuphead was announced for Switch, IIRC.🤔 Thanks for the info, though. 👍
Anyways, the only reason I have any interest in CoH is because it's Zelda themed, otherwise I would probably have very little interest in it, as I don't have a ton of interest with indie games to begin with.
@Bermanator You have no understanding of management, business or anything. It's just a bunch of wishful thinking.
@60frames-please Well, we got game announcements instead.
@Shambo Yup, so it goes. It's honestly not surprising me too much that Nintendo didn't dive deeply into politics and frankly supernatural type stuff (what it seems like it would take to stop horrible stuff instantly). It is what it is. I LOVE A Short Hike though.
@TimboSlice
Thanks for your insights on the game! I'm not much into online PVP games and was hoping for a more built up single player Volta experience, really. Plus I'm already buried in half-finished games at the moment, so I think I'll just wishlist this one for now. Hopefully one day there will be a lucky conjunction of sale pricing plus diminished backlog.
@RasandeRose You do realise that the Switch is barelynas powerful as a a PS3, and the lstest showcase was a bunch of games with 16 bit graphics. The in game graphics for Spiderman and Ratchet were incredible, and better than anytying my top of the line PC has. Not that great graphics make a good game, but they certainly enhance the experience. I am a Nintendo gamer, and always will be, but objectively, Sony's presentation is better than anything Nintendo have shown in a couple of years. Just because I am a Nintendo fan, does not make me think of everything they do is great, and look st other companies and think everything they do is worse. That is just childish raging fanboyism.
@CupidStunt
Yes, it was an indie showcase, they were pretty clear about that. Id say, whats shown of Spiderman for PS5 (and its not a lot), you will have to examine every screenshot with magnifying glass to tell if its PS4 or PS5, cause there is not much of a difference. If any at all. You really have to have a special kind of imagination to say that there is a clear generation leap in whats shown so far. And yes, there is MANY current PC-games that looks far more graphically advanced. Even old games like The Division. If any, I think your shown playstation-fanboyism is a bit childish. Youre magnifies up the anti-climax showcases to the point were it gets ridiculous.
@RasandeRose Shouts out about 16 bit graphics showcase, abd disses a Sony showcase tyat can now be watched on a 4K OLED and blindly says there is no grapgical difference between that and current gen. Raging fanboyism at its worst lol
@CupidStunt
lol, I only mentioned it was a indie-showcase and you start lying about shout-out. Doesnt help your case that you cant even stick to the truth.
@RasandeRose my only case is that i am ashamed to call myseof a Nintendo fan because of the raging fanboys
