Re: Nintendo's New Response: Some amiibo "Likely" to be Discontinued

Dreamcaster-X

@rjejr I agree with you but their hands could be forced with retailers, hence all the different "exclusives". They probably played hardball with Nintendo to give Amiibo the limited shelf space it has and maybe Nintendo wasn't anticipating some to sell out as fast?? Also their are jerkbags who go out and buy lots of these up at a time & resell them which only hurts us and Nintendo should recognize that and at least keep a decent supply throughout Christmas.

Who knows, it may just be a brilliant Nintendo marketing plan to light another fire under Amiibo sales for this month. Either way, it's frustrating.

I ordered a Marth from Toys R Us online on Saturday only to have my relief crushed an hour later when they cancelled my order. Thankfully I was able to snag one on ebay for $24 and it shipped today. I knew there were gonna be some selling out but I didn't think they'd cease production on some just weeks after release.

Re: Nintendo 64x64: GoldenEye 007

I think it still plays well to this day. I recently have been going back to Perfect Dark & Goldeneye. They play so well & they're FUN!!! Why can't compnies make fun FPS's anymore?

@DRL If all else fails...you can try Meguiar's Scratch-X to clean the contacts with. I know it sounds bizarre but it has worked for me on countless games that I thought were dead. I saw it on a Youtube video a while back & didn't believe it would work but it did. You just use a miniscule amount and slightly rub the contacts, then wipe it off with a clean microfiber. You have to take the cart apart first though so you'd need one of those nifty screwdrivers.

Re: Watch Dogs Wii U Release Dates Confirmed

Dreamcaster-X

After forcing myself to complete it on my PS4 I have to say it's one of the biggest gaming disappointments in history for me. The first 2 hours were kind of cool but then it became Assassin's Creed set in a slightly futuristic era.
The main character is about as generic as they come & while the story was interesting at first it quickly became quite monotonous and the gameplay along with it. They just tossed in a bunch of ridiculous & boring side quests to make it seem bigger.
It's not the worst game I've ever played but it's surely nothing to write home about. Luckily I was able to sell it used for $45 online so it was a decent $15 rental I guess.

Re: Video: This is a Video Game

@SethNintendo Future generations will also cry because the "digital" game they bought can no longer be downloaded. There's something to be said about a physical disc or cartridge.

Re: Video: This is a Video Game

Aaaaawww, the joy of getting a new game as a kid. There was nothing like it, you didn't have internet back then and magazine reviews usually came out a month after the game was released at best. So most of the time you went in blind and hoped you didn't get a stinker but nothing could replace that feeling when you knew you had found a keeper or a diamond in the rough. I'm looking at you Blaster Master!

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against Retro Flash Carts

Dreamcaster-X

The yellowing of SNES consoles is due to certain batches of consoles having too much bromide in the mfg mix which is a flame retardant put into the plastic. Too much of it mixed with UV exposure over the years causes the yellowing.
You can turn the consoles back to their original color with a process called Retrobright, just Google it. My Super Famicom looks like brand new.

Re: Review: Quake II (Nintendo 64)

The N64 was home to some pretty competent first person shooters back in the day. Goldeneye, The World is Not Enough, Perfect Dark, Doom 64, Turok etc....and for the time they looked & played quite well.

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against Retro Flash Carts

I love them and have them for my Super Famicom, Genesis, & Nintendo 64. I also own tons of games for those systems as well but in cases where there are games that fetch upwards of $100 or more then NO I'm not going to "buy" them off of ebay where the market has been artificially inflated on some of these games. The game companies get ZERO profit from these old cartridges and a Flash cart lets you play tons of old games & imports that were never possible back in the days when these systems were popular. Not too mention that literally hundreds & hundreds of these games will NEVER see the light of day as re-releases due to licensing & other issues.

Re: Hardware Review: 8Bitdo NES30 Bluetooth Controller

Dreamcaster-X

@Hy8ogen They were made for Club Nintendo Awards in Europe & Japan. I had to get mine off ebay. Just a warning they usually fetch a price anywhere from $50-$75 but they're the exact same controllers as the original Super Famicom just with a Wiimote dongle on the end. They even work with Mario Kart 8!!!!

Re: Nintendo Reports Financial Losses As Expected, Along With Modest Wii U Sales Targets

Dreamcaster-X

Yeah I'm glad to see more people on here realizing that the Wii U is at this point a total disaster for them. I love my Wii U but I'm not oblivious to the facts.
Nintendo could still get this up to Gamecube numbers and for them that would be considered a win at this point but it's a damned bad situation to be in for them as their fans are their own worst enemies. They moan about new franchises but they don't buy them when they come out but lineup for the newest version of an old franchise. So what do you think Nintendo will keep making more of? Nintendo is a smart financial company most of the time, every company has flops but overall their track record is excellent so they know what they're doing. I just think this kills any type of hope for new franchises as they'll stick with what sells.

Re: Renegade Kid Moving On To A "New Experimental 2D Game for 3DS" After Kickstarter Failure

Dreamcaster-X

This says alot about the state of the 3DS market & what will sell. Most fans just didn't seem to want an FPS on their handhelds & I probably agree. It's tough to do FPS's on handhelds. Killzone Mercenary is the best looking/playing FPS I've played on a handheld and I honestly can't really name another good FPS that has come out on a handheld. Even the few that were on PSP weren't that great. Maybe too many people have just been burned by lackluster titles in that genre to really care ll that much.

Re: Talking Point: What We Want To See From Nintendo's Next Handheld

Dreamcaster-X

The digital argument is ridiculous...you want digital? Then go digital, leave is who want physical with an option. I could also deal without the dual screens, it's just too gimmicky. Throw in a better screen & second analogue stick, plus a better processor & you're golden. Their portable library of games is unmatched.

Re: Nintendo Quashes Rumours Of New Hardware At E3 2014

Dreamcaster-X

@Daruncic YES!!! 3DS games via some adapter for the Wii U would be ideal!!! I tend to mostly game on the TV so I could get through 3DS games alot faster as I have found I don't play my portables nowhere near as often as I should for the amount of games that I own for it.
